MLW Fusion, anyone watching it?
I will readily admit that I've not checked out MLW nor do I know the contract situations of the original wrestlers (except Ricochet, of course) so I was excited by the chance this could be a reboot (considering El Rey network is no more). Not a rehash but a continuation of where things were left. I had high (pipedream?) hopes this would be the same guys getting a chance to run with it, again. If it isn't, I'm going to still give it a look, as LU was so different and so unique it made for an amazing weekly product. I totally get the brakes you guys are pumping, though.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2021
I feel like using lucha would be cheating but Ultimo Guerrero is the current CMLL World Heavyweight champion after a decade of not holding the belt (2008-2018).

MLW Fusion, anyone watching it?
Seeing quite a few people post connections/hidden messages in these hype videos and its relation to Lucha Underground. Fingers crossed

Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole
I was trying to point out the irony of him autographing tinfoil hats but that point makes more sense, yes.

Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole
For sure. Cole, Aries and Taz are all roughly the same size but you'd not really put Taz down as a "child". Body size definitely makes a difference (Cole, for instance) but how you carry yourself is key. Aries, well, looks and acts like an overgrown manbaby.

Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole
I'm clearly a lot higher on his work than those here but the dude is a dumpster fire. Writing should have been on the wall for him the moment he did what he did to Christy Hemme.

WWE TV 02/15 - 02/21 Break the Capitol's walls down
Perhaps I'm missing something, but a lot of the ire seems to also relate to "valuing" women as a commodity - like property that can be traded for $$$. I don't for a second think that there isn't a huge elephant in the room when it comes to how women are treated in the industry but this seems like a weird one to blow up. There wasn't any backlash when this was done multiple times for the male wrestlers - in fact, this seems to just be an overdone meme being used again so that women are also included. There's also a "me not we" vibe to her Tweet which is incredibly problematic considering the context she is arguing.

Guys who were with the company far longer than you remember
Not quite fitting of the thread but TJ Perkins' age really shocked me. It feels like he's been wrestling forever yet he's only 36.

That's wonderfully bizarre. Subbed. Thanks!

GCW's Fight Forever - a 24 Hour Free Live-Streamed Wrestling Show tomorrow
Interesting idea - even if it's definitely not something I plan on putting that much time into watching. I wasn't sure if this should have gone in the Comments thread or started a new one but I decided the latter for two reasons: 1) They are going for a world record (is there even one?) 2) They are raising money via IndieGoGo where all proceeds go to the performers themselves. So far $30k has been raised. The link is here

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Vince's mummified corpse will become the new Wrestlemania sign for everyone to point to.

Winning streaks - good or bad?
Log brings up a good point about Game of Thrones. I don't think this is limited to streaks in wrestling. Is there a universally praised ending to anything in entertainment? We all spend our time fantasy booking how things go and, unless it supersedes our expectations or meets them, they always pale in comparison in our eyes.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I'm not sure if this is big enough to bump the thread but it doesn't fit the Weekly thread. Fightful posted that around a half dozen wrestlers negged out on signing new contracts stating they want to see what the future holds for WWE's plans post COVID. The summary I get is that their expectations (especially in comparison to other offers given in 2019) were well different to what WWE actually offered now. Choosing not to resign is nothing new, but I can't recall it being in such numbers before.

Bix' picked up the story and is in contact with Rip. Let's see what 'proof' there is because this looks like a nothing story so far.

Greatest Rookie Year Ever
I wonder if that project is still available via Wayback Machine? It was a fantastic resource and pointed me to Funk/Jumbo 1976 which is my favourite match ever.

Greatest Rookie Year Ever
I always think of Tamura as someone great out the gate but I might be out of sync with others on that. As for the inverse, Cesaro was someone who was so frustratingly middling when he debuted in the US/rose through the indies. He only really started putting things together in about 2009 and hit his stride in 2011. That's 6 years of meandering.

We're also comparing apples to oranges in terms of direct earnings. Of course I can completely understand the rationale here, that is a ludicrous amount of money (for us third worlders especially) but is it a lol of money when compared to contemporaries? Other sportsmen, other TV personalities? Even then I'm not sure it's enough of a direct comparison - like we can never compare a national footballer's money to a provincial/club level player. WWE is massive business and salaries even at the bottom level should be reflective of that. To me they're earning a metric fuckton but, in relative terms to their world, it is a drop in the bucket.

Current Lucha Talk
I'm guessing this is why I saw people speculating Batista would be in AAA, then. Of course that won't happen but, like you said, this is a big deal.
