As someone who gave up on WWE storylines, Main Event scratches the itch I have for good wrestling. Besides, they usually run matchups on house shows before putting them on TV. Hopefully (not likely), this is a dummy run before they put out a storyline.

Children choking each other was the main concern that someone in the company (Cena even?) mentioned before. Of course that could just be a way to brush off bad wrestling but it fits with company MO and it isn't as if John hasn't shown an ability to be vicious. Cena choked Edge out with the STF at Unforgiven 2006. I'd need to go back and see how loose his STFs were before that but I do imagine that was an example they pointed to when deciding this:

Black asked to be moved back to NXT recently but was denied. I guess that would be the closest to hitting 'refresh' button for him but that one isn't happening. It's a pity AEW came about when it did. If this was 2010 going into 2011 I'd imagine the wrestling world would be a lot better than it is now. It's criminal how kneecapped WWE has left their talent in the last 10 years. Ricochet, Samoa Joe, Black, Cesaro, Banks, Bayley, Moxley, Keith Lee, Andrade/Sombra have all wasted years of their career with very little, relative to their upside, to show for it. I'm not going to ever think we'd be in a new boom period but Jesus Christ has WWE's last decade been an absolute blackhole.

If there wasn't a draft lottery every other quarter-year then Survivor Series might make more sense. WWE isn't ashamed of its jingoism and that could trickle down to brand patriotism. However, there's no reason to have loyalty if you're just going to be drafted in the next couple months. Especially because there's now a hierarchy created at Survivor Series and if you get drafted to the losing brand you're trading down. There are so many possibilities to draw from here and they don't need to be deeply woven into a character's personal story. ~>Someone was offered [more] opportunities by their brand ~>They have/had a grudge with a member on the opposite team and want to get to them ~>They have a connection to/are friends with the team captain and want to help their bud Heck, anything. A throwaway line is better than nothing. Well, OK, one that doesn't make a 6'8", 37 year old sound like an angry kindergartener.

Ha! This is new to me but definitely isn't the first time something similar has happened. I remember Adam Cole telling a similar story way back when in the time Kevin Owens was doing interviews with other indy guys (IIRC). He was 6 months fresh into wrestling when he was contacted by WWE saying how interested they are and how impressive he is. This went on for a bit until Adam Cole got his flight tickets and saw they had the wrong surname on them. When he sent a photo of himself they immediately rescinded the offer. They didn't want Adam Cole, they wanted Xavier Woods (Austin Watson). The two joked in the interview that they probably confused him for Xavier because his name sounds "more black" (Austin Jenkins). Of course that was tongue-in-cheek but I would not be surprised if that wasn't half true.

What would the ramifications be if this is proven true? I know there's the general sweeping under the rug because LOLwrasslin' in the States, but that would be tantamount to company suicide here.

Interestingly, from someone outside of USA, Googling "WWE Matt Riddle" brings up the sexual allegations on the first page - doing so for "WWE Riddle" doesn't. I assume part of it has to do with that?

I imagine with the July 4th celebrations it's just going to get that much worse. Just to express how stupidity isn't locality based, people in my country do wear their masks when in public but remove their masks when they need to talk to someone else. Then my fellow SAfricans wonder why we're the third highest country in terms of new infections. Daft.

Taz exposed himself to a 15 year old back in 1991 I'm not sure how to validate the news clipping, so if someone could (or point me in the right direction how to), that would be wonderful.

I haven't cross-checked the allegations against him, but what stood out to me was how he would preface every "allegation" (stressing this word, too) by stating he had no knowledge of this happening and trying to distance himself from complicity while robotically postfacing his explanations with how those coming out are entitled to their feelings. It felt like the most lawyerlike way of calling the allegations bullshit.
