    1) Callihan vs Ki 2) Rush vs LA Park Everything else I saw pimped was either good/great but nothing standing out as excellent. Though, that said, I barely watched wrestling this year.
  2. This board used to be a reference point for many years. I'd Google reviews for Lucha matches that would pop up on my Youtube and sure as anything OJ's Blog or the MDA would return something. I also never posted but I'd eagerly await many of the podcasts this place brings together (especially those involving Dylan's opinions on the HoF a few years back). PWO (and, earlier, WKO) has been invaluable in my growth as a fan. With the PWO2K project my love for wrestling is starting to come back again and I really have to thank everyone involved in the board for allowing all of this. Merry Christmas and happy new year!
  3. The exotico's beso Flair's flop The Johnny Saint Special Wrestling has been treated as "stupid" for ages.
  4. Is he better than he was? Because the last I saw him after his prison stint he wasn't much of anything.
  5. Not to be a Debbie Downer but it seems that the last few years have all got this type of praise. I really loved the Park/Rush stuff (though their 2016 match was bonkeritos) but I'd still have 2013 as the shining jewel of the decade.
  6. Mr Mexico's dive perfectly sums this one up - all action no benefit. Even with some spectacular spots (mostly due to Zumbido and lesser so Pantera) nothing came together here as anything more than a by-the-numbers feel good match.
  7. Not sure I see the positives for this at all. I found this rather boring and lacklustre with Villanos on offence. Truth be told, I've not been the highest Villano IV fan but I thought he looked a step below here even. Disjointed offence with some moves changed on the fly. Silver King provides wacky facial reactions as a FIP and La Parka seemingly tags himself in (??) to mercifully end this. Below average.

Man, now I want to see this promo!!! Can someone who has the yearbook upload the promo to YouTube? I think it's this
  9. I'm probably higher than most in terms of TItus' ring work (I'm a sucker for shit-talking powerhouses ala Mark Henry), but what really got me behind him was how much of a genuinely wonderful human being he is. Here's a guy who rounded up a few homeless people and treated them to a meal at a restaurant inbetween shows simply to give back. He seems like a great father and I thought that Take Time to be a Dad campaign would have gotten him more elevation in WWE. Coupled with a tragic childhood you'd think there would be a lot to feed the WWE marketing system.
  10. To add to that, Panther and Casas were the first guys I "got" when I tried to dive deeper than athletic spot lucha. They would continually be guys I gravitated towards and continued to enjoy even with a primitive knowledge of lucha. Of course Casas is far more transcendental (being the all-timer great he is and having the charisma that he does) but Panther captured me in so much that he was the first and only guy I ever tried a Complete & Accurate career retrospective of.

  12. For anyone who would like to watch it in the interim, the matches can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFjyIUGnbxttrqsNW7_wgtQ/videos
  13. This is also anecdotal and maybe the by-product of the circle I am in, but I don't see McGregor as a bigger name-value than Cena. It's not even close in South Africa, tbf. My partner's never watched a wrestling match in her life and she knows who Cena is. Opposite, she knows Batista (due to Guardians of the Galaxy) but didn't know that he was a wrestler before I mentioned it. Apart from actual UFC fans and the Floyd/McGregor bout, I don't see any conversations about Connor at all in public or on social media. Whereas even Randy Orton is recognizable here because of the "RKO OUTTA NOWHERE~!" meme - so much so that there are still night club events being named after it or referencing it - last night being one in my city (an event with the slogan "like an RKO outta nowhere, we're back!"). A gross simplification but I'd wage if their pictures were held up to the random public the reactions of those who do recognise both would be similar to "John Cena!" vs "that MMA guy".

  15. I love Sami's strikes. He has such a snap and awareness of his body that he masks them not connecting very well. Loved this from last year https://imgur.com/fNwk0wR

  17. Seriously, who, in the era of free podcast everywhere, would want to pay for this kind of shit ? (hell, I wouldn't even download it for free) Bro... Ken: "incest...and then when you talk about beating up a woman" Russo: "Who writes this shit? How dare they?" What??

  19. 2013 is an interesting pick. From memory Regal only had two matches (both great) but I'd be interested to know why you held him so highly, when I'd give that year to his opponent Cesaro pretty easily.
  20. They'd probably make more than a few of the wrestlers. "TNA Reportedly Behind in Paying Fans, What Production Workers Are Being Told and More" - PWTortch, 2018
  21. I thought he tended to overplay certain mannerisms but he was a fantastic wrestler at the start of the decade (carrying scrubs to very good matches) - and is in the second best match this year against Low Ki. I'm not a promo guy so I can't point you in the right direction there - but Switchblade Conspiracy era Callihan might have some nice work, idk?
  22. Rah replied to PeteF3's topic in WWE
It could just as much be a response to online criticism that follows talents being cut ("they weren't any good/should have happened years ago!"). Though I definitely see neither point.
  23. Rah replied to BBscout's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yes, that's the version ripped from the documentary (available here). There's a VHS copy and this only. Best grab it before it's most likely removed.
  24. Rah replied to BBscout's topic in Pro Wrestling
It's been in circulation before (at least since 2011), but that's a better quality copy. DJ Spectro uploaded the original version all those years ago
  25. Really cool!
