[1990-05-19-NWA-Capital Combat] Ric Flair vs Lex Luger (Cage)
I noticed Lex was incredibly over here. I mean like world champ level over. For having a legit injury like he did, it's amazing we got what we did. And umm, yeah...fuck whoever came up with everything involved with this finish. Had Robocop left the building? Did Sid get lost somewhere after running away from Giant Gonzalez? What did Gonzalez even do during this segment that amounted to more than ambling around? How did Ole get all that time to mess with the cage? Last but in no way least. WHO thought putting a finish to the match that made NOBODY look good at all was a good idea? Flair looks like he lucked out keeping the belt. The Horsemen look nothing like the most elite group in wrestling. Luger looks like a guy who just got fucked over one too many times and never gets to win. Sting gets one or two good licks in on Flair I guess. I'm struggling to see where this seemed like a good idea in terms of how everybody comes out of it.

[1990-05-19-NWA-Capital Combat] Rick & Scott Steiner vs Doom
New rule. Jim Ross CANNOT talk about goddamn college football or any other sport while a wrestling match is going on. Ever again. Fun power match with almost a late 80s Jumbo vs. Tenryu feud at its height feel to it. Just big dudes hitting each other hard and tossing each other around some. Oh and about 300 too many college football references. Fucking JR. Did he go home and masturbate to some NCAA football after the show?

[1990-05-19-NWA-Capital Combat] Midnight Express vs Brian Pillman & Tom Zenk
Great match, Z-Man doesn't stink it up early. Pillman plays a great FIP and then...fuck you Z-Man. Maybe try a little after your hot tag? In answer to Sleeze, I enjoy Lane quite a bit. He just can't quite measure up to Bobby. I think he'll always be the lesser half of the team to a lot of people.

[1990-05-19-NWA-Capital Combat] Junkyard Dog and Jim Cornette
Ten times better than the Robocop segment! I'm pretty sure this was one time I was happy to see the Dog show up. Once he starts wrestling it's way less likely to happen.

Tatum as an abusive asshole is really, really good. Too good maybe. Nice beatdown on Dundee.

[1990-05-19-WWF-Superstars] Rick Rude vignette
Both Rude and Heenan kick ass in these. But I agree they are hard to take as realistic attempts at making Rude a threat to Warrior.

[1990-05-14-AJPW-Super Power Series] Tiger Mask & Toshiaki Kawada vs Yoshiaki Yatsu & Ricky Fuyuki
Looked to me like Misawa was getting pissed off that Fuyuki and Yatsu kept using the mask to control him. The barrage of actual stiff strikes outside kind of supports that. Doesn't seem like Yatsu ever recovers in this match either, he can barely move afterwards. My guess is some shit went down with Misawa and Yatsu during this and they had to bullshit through the rest of the time without him. Kawada looks almost as tired of playing juniors Kawada as Misawa was of being under the hood.

[1990-05-12-WWF-Superstars] Rick Rude vignette
Awesome promo by Rude. Also, you'll note that Rude was hitting the heavy bag without wraps or wrist support of any kind. That means the guy knew how to throw a damn punch. You throw any kind of hard punch at all with a sloppy wrist at a heavy bag bare-handed and you'll know about it for days if not longer. Also rips the shit out of your knuckles if you drag them at all. So yeah, Rude is a badass and can carry off these promos really well. I will repeat my thought that this kind of shit would have been over like gangbusters in WCW.

[1990-05-12-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire
Dusty really cuts a great, fired-up promo here. For as shitty as this feud was, the participants sure gave 110% to make it better. Sapphire slapping Brother Love was good too.

[1990-05] Family Feud (5/7-5/11)
Looked to me like Lex was overthinking things when he was up. He just couldn't snap out an answer and pressured himself into bad ones. Stinger seemed like the best at trying to make things up on the go. Scotty did pretty well for a big musclehead guy. Rick and Animal are complete lost causes.
