[1990-04-28-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Hulk Hogan
Great re-intro for Hogan after the loss. It takes all of the negative stuff that could come out of the loss to Warrior and disproves it in one nice, compact package. Hogan's reaction to the crowd is exceptional, as mentioned above. Never been a fan, but Hogan does really well with this. Brother Love brings it as well, introducing the fallen hero Hogan as fanatically as you could hope for.

[1990-04-28-WWF-Superstars] Rick Rude vignette
I can see the complaints that it's never going to work, making Rude a serious challenger. But you know what, these promos are absolute gold. Rude and Heenan carry off their roles perfectly. Mainly I think this kind of thing could have worked (if he could have pulled it off) for Luger in the NWA. A more serious, less cartoony promotion would have gotten way more mileage out of this kind of deal.

[1990-04-21-USWA-Championship Sports] Kevin Von Erich vs Matt Borne / Matt Borne and Kerry Von Erich
I can see the comparisons with Borne and Piper. It's this still-there-but-crazy-enough sense that you know can't be good for the opponent. And Borne does a great job of not yet being full-on heel. He's just overly ambitious at this point, so he may still turn it around (good luck with that). And yeah, fuck Kevin von Erich. If I never see him wrestle again it will make me a happy man.

[1990-04-23-WWF-Austin, TX] Mr Perfect vs Tito Santana
Tito tripping over Perfect on the drop down made me remember something I'd once heard some pro wrestler say. The way the move was supposed to be executed was to dive at your opponent's legs and try to trip them. Curt was trained old school, as was Santana, so I'm guessing they were putting that one to use. Fun match between two guys who could go and didn't get much of a chance to anymore.

[1990-04-20-NWA-Power Hour] Midnight Express vs Brian Pillman & Tom Zenk
Pillman is on fire early. Both Midnights are really great at making anybody look good, but Bobby is in another world so far on the set. And when the Midnights get on offense things actually pick up due to them still being cutting edge with their offense years later. Could have used more FIP on Pillman and less Zenk (always), but well worth the time.

[1990-04-20-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Jeff Jarrett
Not a big fan of heel Lawler matches, but this is passable. Just don't care for the whole schtick and agree with Loss and Pete on why. Maybe it IS laziness, or maybe it's just how heel Lawler put over all of the way-under-par guys he had to make look like real challenges. It worked to a point, but it wears on me nonetheless.

Man, one thing you forget during Lawler's big heel run is how damn great he is at selling. Kind of odd, that.

[1990-04-21-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler and Nate
Rockin' Randy is nowhere over 240. Damn you Bill Dundee!! Lawler giving the full-on sell of a whiffed Nitron punch and trying to break his neck bumping for it is incredible. Nate really wants to get revenge on Jerry. They did a real good job of getting that over.

[1990-04-21-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler and Eddie Marlin
Lawler's reactions make this work. Otherwise it would have been way too dry. The "sudden death" rule seems like it could be a fun kind of gimmick for a promotion to use.

I was also impressed here. Rude kept that speed bag moving while talking! Very good series of vignettes so far.

[1990-04-06-NWA-Power Hour] Louisville Slugger: Ric Flair & Woman
So is this where the Horsemen should have ended? Ole on his way out, Arn hurt, Flair in a battle with Luger for the title. I mean, it works, let Luger have his run as the champ while Sting is working his way back. Sting gets to have his revenge on Flair and Arn separately, Flair settles into more of a beloved babyface right at the top tier role and Arn is a gatekeeper for the up and coming babyfaces. It would have all worked, but I suppose politics and all.

[1990-04-07-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler Loves Wrestling Fans
Lawler is absolute gold, as he is in all of these. If this is the one with the three teenage girls, I imagine his comments were not what was going through his head.
