  1. Really loving Robert Fuller so far. I'm thining he's a guy who really gets lost in the mainstream shuffle for not having a mainstream run as himself.
  2. I loved Estrada taking advantage of the shoulder he injured to end the second fall. Satanico fighting through it and avoiding Estrada's attempts at finishing him definitively long enough to catch him off-guard was a great, meaningful third fall. Satanico the tecnico may be better than Satanico the rudo.
  3. Loved this whole thing. Lawler proving his connections then getting all sulky was all kinds of incredible. Also, Jerry Lawler is NOT angry. Don't you even think that for a second. Might get a good right hand for shit like that if you're not Dave.
  4. Champion kind of lives up to the brainless comment by sticking around long enough for Lawler to hit him. Lawler is on a tear the last 2 weeks! So good too, but I agree with Loss that he needed a babyface who could keep up with him. Preferably one Lawler could have made jump through hoops for a while before the showdown.
  5. Saw somebody eating the pie for sure once it came out. Poor Nate. Lawler is just such a rotten bastard here even the Memphis studio turns on him.
  6. If I didn't love Lawler before this show, I don't know how I could keep that view after.
  7. I tried following this thing pretty close. Here's what I got... First fall goes fine until Pierroth hurts himself in a really bad ring malfunction. Looks like Estrada is avoiding Texano throughout. Rudos lose first fall off-camera and then the tecnicos cover for the unmasking of Pierroth while he is attended to. Dandy and Texano, being tag partners, try to convince Azteca to leave. He won't. Fuerza tries to help by just tossing Azteca out every chance he gets. Rudos take second fall anyway with Estrada halways wasting time on Azteca before he realizes Azteca should be gone, so then Estrada just stops and goes back to doing anything else. Azteca refuses to leave between falls despite both of his partners and the refs trying to get him out. Fuerza again puts him on his ass outside. Azteca comes back in and more arguing, Fuerza goes with it for a bit before legit slamming Azteca and pinning him so he can't get out of the count. Azteca is still in the way so Texano just tombstones Estrada, keeping with the Cowboys rivalry with Estrada from the start but just...backwards? DQ ensues. Azteca is still arguing with Dandy about why Texano didn't leave. Seems pretty obvious Azteca was the right choice, to everyone but Azteca. I thought Azteca was easily the weakest guy in the match also, despite his amazing headgear coming in. These guys having a legitimate argument over who should leave throughout falls 2 and 3 is mind-blowing to me. I dug Fuerza being scared shitless of going to the ropes as well, and Estrada doing that Buddy Rose floor bump was incredible. Estrada is a guy I need to see a lot more of. Angel Azteca seems like a real asshole.
  8. Okay, so I wanted this to be as awesome as it should be. Only the crowd SUCKED. Seriously, nobody made a peep despite Perro absolutely mauling Hamada. Looked to me like Perro got pissed at the crowd. Throwng the chairs at them was a nice touch, almost Hansen-esque. Then we get the shitty first fall finish. Oh aand the crowd reacted the biggest they do all match to the ref getting kicked in the face. Fuck you. Apparently Hamada has no idea that finish is coming..or the ref because he started giving Hamada a 5 count on a chinlock? Fuck me, this crowd got killed by that finish too and Perro is doing everything he can to drag a reaction out of them. Including stealing a beer bottle and bashing Hamada over the head with it. Now Perro is just punching the fuck out of Hamada until he gets a reaction. While watching this I asked out loud, "how much pain does Hamada have to go through for you fuckers to react?" Crowd gets into it but it looks like we're out of time and Perro kills Hamada with the top rope stomp for three and isn't satisfied. Fuck this crowd!
  9. I thought they were way off time with each other on lot of spots and the match looked sloppy as shit. Not real high on Asai/Ultimo though, so that ma have something to do with it.
  10. Tenryu vs. Choshu is ridiculous kinds of incredible. I want this to be a feud now. Right fucking now. Anyway, action-packed match built around that, blast to watch.
  11. One thing about commentary. Funk is using the same words he did pre-Cornette taking over, but his colleagues always seem to think that means he's bitter. Very strange.
  12. That first powerbomb should have ended it. Not a fan of the deathmatch style at all, so I have little else to add.
  13. If nothing else, this 1990 yearbook is showing me what a waste Pillman's career was. He could really go and if he had been paired with the right veterans he could have developed into an amazing worker. Seeing this side of Flair is always fun as well.
  14. Fun match with an odd heel pairing. Maybe the purpose was to help cement the Horsemen as heels by having them go against the RnRs?
  15. Travis gives this great facial expression during the shine that absolutely kills me. More chain bullshit....color me less than impressed with that schtick. That I love Memphis as much as I do despite the chain nonsense being as heavily involved says something.
  16. One big difference between NJPW and AJPW s how heavily the ring is miced. NJPW you hear so much more of the grunts and screams. It can be a little jarring.
  17. Dutch had a wicked short clothesline. Champion had a pretty decent superkick to go with the awesome 80s hair. Jarrett...umm, didn't look like he sucked?
  18. First things first. I LOVE this match. It is one of the definitive Southern tags I have ever seen and Cronette just adds to it in droves. There was a comment about Kerry von Erich being that 30 year old who thinks he's still 18 and how sad it is in another thread. I like how the RnRs are this close to being those guys in 1990. The timeframe for their gimmick has clearly passed. But they manage to make it work by being an incredible tag team. Also, it's strange how all of these spots still seem cutting edge compared to most heavyweight wrestling you see considering they have been using them for years. Easily my favorite match on the set so far.
  19. When the NWA goes cheesy, they go so much farther than they should. It's like they try so hard to out-WWF the WWF that they push into train wreck territory.
  20. Puzzling stuff given the main event. People tuned in to see Sting in the main against J-Tex and now...this. Has there ever been any insider info on why exactly this had to happen?
  21. Cornette completely missing Funk's reasons for him getting the show was funny stuff. Funk will be missed.
