UNIVERSAL WRESTLING FEDERATION (UWF)
Devastation and the Roadies will be a Hell of a feud. Magnum vs. the Koloffs continues to build. Fabs vs. Midnights will be incredible as well. Gilbert coming back home should be fun. Murdoch joining Wright's army will have far reaching implications.

AWA results for March 1986
Big wins for Black Irish over their major rivals. Also, matches I would still pay to see. Bigelow vs. Cactus is indeed a dream match. Blackwell's win would have been fun to see. The 8-man tag in Ann Arbor would have been a ton of fun. Piper vs. Jake!

[1992-02-29-WCW-Superbrawl II] Barry Windham & Dustin Rhodes vs Steve Austin & Larry Zbyszko
All 4 showed their strengths here. Austin went to the chinlock a bit much when he had to build heat on Dustin. Still a really good/great tag that keeps everything moving along nicely. Moment of the match for me was Madusa's selling of Larry crotching Windham over the railing. Great, great stuff.

[1992-02-29-WCW-Superbrawl II] Jushin Liger vs Brian Pillman
This does have the feel of more of an exhibition as it goes on, but that's what they needed to do if they were (as they thought they were) going to build up the division. It is necessary to educate the audience(and the announcers as it were) on how it was going to go first. As mentioned, they did have solid transitions, but it was more about showing off what could be done with a light heavyweight division. And as much as I love Pillman, he was being carried to an extent. He certainly stepped up when he needed to, but this was Liger's match. Very good match and years ahead of it's time in the States.

[1992-02-29-USWA-TV] Jeff Jarrett & Jerry Lawler & Junkyard Dog vs The Moondogs & Big Black Dog / Interview: Richard Lee
Jarrett's dropkick was huge. And completely out of place in this match. Lawler and Jarrett give the match and the feud some layers by taking out BBD's leg. I'd say that was Puerto Rico levels of babyface violence, which gets two big thumbs up from me. If I had a time machine with limited uses, 1992 Memphis would definitely be a stop just to see some of this live.

[1992-02-29-USWA-TV] Eric Embry vs Pat Tanaka
Tanaka's kick was brutal, as was the visual of Embry's eye afterward. The promo was one of Embry's best, he comes off as completely insane vowing revenge. Especially since we know what Tanaka can do to him if he gets the opportunity. Embry's clothelsine on Tanaka was really good too. I'd agree that they ad-libbed a way to get out without Embry taking any more shots to the head.

Japan Wrestling Association April 1986
Great use for Hogan, Andre, Brody & Hansen. I'd agree that maybe the match itself would suffer a bit. But you just gave the crowd a good dose of Fujinami vs. Choshu. Also had the Machines score an upset victory over the big American team, as well as Tenryu & Hara get their revenge in a very Tenryu way. Add the quasi-shootstyle opener, the energetic second match and the tag with Tiger Mask cleaning house and Mutoh making a fiery comeback and you don't need a great wrestling match in the main.

AWA results for March 1986
Simmons & Pillman gelling as a team is awesome. Z-Man is getting a Hell of a push in the AWA despite my not ever caring for him. white apologizing for being the weak link seems weird, but it works. Kabuki and Blackwell is a feud I can get behind. Cactus vs. Buzz would not disappoint. Ever. Pillman and Simmons gain look strong, this time in singles. Love Rose & Somers backing into retaining. Bock vs. Steamer! Can't wait for more of that.

[1992-02-29-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: Jake Roberts & The Undertaker
Taker really looks like a complete badass here. Dragging that casket around had to be exhausting, but he took multiple chairshots and punches in the process. How he managed to register only that first couple of barrages of chairshots and mostly ignore the rest is so great. Jake is great as usual, but he's showing fear by the end. Which is certainly justified by the way Undertaker was just coming at him regardless of what he did.

[1992-02-27-AJPW-Excite Series] Jumbo Tsuruta vs Kenta Kobashi
Kobashi is good at throwing bombs. Almost as good as he is at garnering sympathy. Jumbo tends to play to the strengths of his opponent in these types of matches and that's what we get. It's really good and an example of howto make a young guy with potential look really good in a loss. Problem being it took place in AJPW in 1992 and that year is chick full of that kind of thing.

[1982-04-16-Houston Wrestling] Nick Bockwinkel vs Dick Slater
I liked that they established Bock as the clear heel early. He's certainly able to grapple with Slater early, but quick to turn to underhanded counters whenever he gets the chance. Slater gets an opportunity to work over an arm after a mistake and takes it, which leads to a nice hammerlock "near-fall". Bock is just as quick to spring on a leg after Slater's mistake, but I really liked the couple of stomps to the head first to daze him long enough to put on the figure four. SEcond fall Bock is back on the leg but Slater turns it around and gets revenge. Top rope pays off for Slater as we even it up. Third fall sees Bock cheat on a roll-up and continue to sell more exhaustion than Slater after the match. I really liked how the first fall was the longest of the match and it wore both guys down enough to make the next falls shorter. It also established themes that we saw developed as the match went on. Slater teasing the piledriver was nice, as was the fact that Slater's head was too hard for Bock. Bock's willingness to run away saving him when the piledriver did hit was a really nice payoff too. I'd agree that this was an excellent wrestling match that kept a strong story going throughout.

[1992-02-24-PWFG] Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs Yusuke Fuke
I liked the recurring theme of the leg kicks working for Fujiwara. The half-hearted feints with the lead leg really throw Fuke for a loop as the youngster is done in after Fuji throws one fast and hard. Fuke fights on, but it's the beginning of the end at that exact moment. I liked Fuke's spirited rally that led to him getting his only points of the match. And Fujiwara kicking him in the knee again to end it. I will say that when Fujiwara shows up with kick pads his opponent is in trouble.

[1992-02-22-WCW-Saturday Night] Sting & Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham & Ricky Steamboat vs Rick Rude & Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko & Bobby Eaton
I tried to single out any one amazing performance above all others and found a small edge going to Arn here. But there was so much really good stuff crammed into these 15 minutes it's hard to really say. I will agree that it needed more time to reach it's potential, but it's not meant to be the main attraction regardless of the sheer amount of talent in the ring for this match.

Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling- March 86
Polynesian Power is a nice addition to help Snuka out against the Stud Stable & Mulligan. Tiger Jeet Singh is playing the right role so far, especially on TV. Hot Property are getting a goood push and I like it. The Horsemen ending the show with a message was really good. Robinson with the underhanded win is a perfect result. Orndorff again piledrives David at will. The Horsemen seem to implode but Flair is looking nostalgic. Big night for the babyfaces in Fayetteville. Hacksaw and Backlund teaming up has to be the most goofy patriotic duo ever. That 6 man brawl was the highlight of that show for me.

World Class Championship Wrestling: March 1986
Great TV with Funks vs. Von Erichs set up, Embry again stealing the show and Martel getting his submission win in the main. Love seeing Horner and Jacques retain. Studd and Lawler would have been great. Freebirds as new NWA 6-man champs is a good choice. Now they can barge into other territories with NWA gold to back them up.

Proposal for 2018: Match Review Trades
Good start of a three-way-dance type match with Steen and Generico teaming up on Oulette to get him out of the way. Things get pretty spotty after that with a legitimately insane 360 springboard dropkick to the floor by Generico. They kind of go back to the story of going after Oulette here and there, but it turns into one of those "Oh my GOD" ECW three-way matches and while what they did was impressive, I didn't love the match as a whole. I felt like you could see Generico's strengths on show throughout with a lot of bumping, selling and bursts of offense. Steen hit some big stuff but I'm not convinced he was great at this point in his career. You can see he has a lot of good offense, but that's not enough. Oulette has the easiest job here and does well enough. He's just killing these guys with everything and no-selling a lot of their stuff. I thought the double back suplex spot should have been avoided due to how shitty it was always going to look. Overall, fun match that tries to add a little psychology to the highspot 3-way-dance setup. And as a complete turnaround from the style of that match, MattD gave me this. I liked this a good bit more for the simplicity and strong story they told. Review is here. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/36144-nick-bockwinkel-vs-dick-slater-houston-41682/

Floyd and Paul E. fighting over who is the top dog is fun. Poisson is really on a roll of late. Good to see King Tonga getting his mojo back. Huge upset for Benoit. Borne as the new champ is awesome and I am looking forward to where that goes!

[1992-02-22-SMW-TV] Interview: Ivan Koloff, Vladimir Koloff & Jimmy Golden
I marked out a little bit for Dutch threatening to write a letter. Both for how awesome it was and for the Memphis angle in '91 where some egg-suckin' dog wrote him a nasty letter. Caudle and Dutch do make an incredible pairing. That and how well this brawl was pulled off by 5 of the participants(looking at you, Vladmir) have me looking forward to lots more SMW. Even if Tommy Rogers isn't around , Bobby Fulton is still throwing sweet punches, so I am on board with the Fantastics.

Japan Wrestling Association March 1986
Hey, I am of the opinion that PR heels are very often some of the best I've seen due to their willingness to make complete asses of themselves when called upon to do so. And to have little to no redeeming qualities beyond that. And if you're going to borrow, borrow from the best. I'd say Arn and the Funker would fall under that category as well.

[1992-02-22-USWA-TV] Jeff Jarrett and the Moondogs
Great segment with Jeff unleashing a hardware store into the ring and Richard Lee playing the heel to the hilt. Moondogs destroying everything in sight is one of my favorite things about 1992 so far.
