Wild West Wrestling March 1986
I was never a fan of cage match interference, but I understand basing a booking style on reality. Not something I have done, but it is a cool idea nonetheless. Gilbert must be booking because he is on the show twice without being in a match.

AWA results for March 1986
Loving the AWA as always. Piper and Roberts with their stables would be a consistent highlight. British Steel, Black Irish and the British Bullies going at it was awesome. The build to Steamer vs. Bock continues and the match can't possibly disappoint.

UNIVERSAL WRESTLING FEDERATION (UWF)
Street vs. a big fat guy sounds like a feud I could watch all day. The Magnum/Martel tag is such a big match. I love a lot of what people have going on, but that one is the thing I am looking forward to most right now. Jarrett outwitting Landell is a nice touch.

World Class Championship Wrestling: March 1986
The Funks helping Hart makes me think of 1989 WCW actually. Big upset for Horner. Garvin's win and another Lawler/Studd match are the highlights though.

[1992-02-04-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Masa Chono & Hiroshi Hase vs Tatsumi Fujinami & Shiro Koshinaka
Hase really ripped it up here. Chono hit a few of his signatures really good, but for the most part was not great. For all of Kosh's demanding help, he didn't seem that interested in tagging when he had the chance. Just kept throwing stuff out like he hadn't been begging for help a minute or so earlier. Not a great match, but another really good Hase performance. I'm starting to think he will be my second favorite after Hash of the newer generation of NJPW guys.

[1992-02-02-UWA] El Canek vs Dos Caras
I think the ref was getting on Caras for not breaking clean off the ropes. He could have kept it shorter than he did both times. Really good mat match with great selling by Canek and great submission work by Caras. Canek is awkward at times then surprises you with his execution others. Both are guys I need to see more of.

[1992-02-01-SMW-TV] Interview: Jim Cornette
Looking forward to seeing what SMW becomes. Corny gives a great mission statement despite (as mentioned above) WCW's turnaround with the DA. A southern wrestling promotion based on tag team wrestling with a focus on the actual in-ring sounds pretty awesome to me. I did like how he accomplished that and still heeled himself with the fans.

[1992-02-01-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler, Austin Idol and the Moondogs
Yeah, I thought Dave got upset with Idol for that physical interaction as well. And why not? He'd been threatened by both Embry and the Moondogs earlier in the show. Idol's story is pretty out there, but again I think this whole show was way over the top and out there. Easily one of the craziest (and probably best) Memphis episodes in a long, long time. The brawl was classic Memphis and I loved it.

[1992-02-01-USWA-TV] Interview: Koko B. Ware / Interview: Dennis Coraluzzo / Interview: Jerry Lawler
Coraluzzo's promo went quite a ways too far, but that is a theme of this week's show it seems. I liked Koko's promo and singing a lot, even if I thought Lawler had a better promo. Good to see Koko able to do something other than be a ridiculous gimmick for Vince.

[1992-02-01-USWA-TV] Eric Embry vs Dirty White Boy
Embry did great with this promo, I love how the old Embry is nowhere near gone despite the new look. The man on woman violence I can do without, even if Kim got her revenge within minutes.

[1992-02-01-USWA-TV] Jeff Jarrett & Jerry Lawler vs The Moondogs
Love his feud and it's only getting better. Well, except for no more amazing Robert Fuller promos. Have I mentioned how awesome he is at fired up babyface promos? As soon as Jarrett started in with the piledriver I knew it wasn't Lee, but it still works and I want to see them get their comeuppance more now.

[1992-02-01-USWA-TV] The Moondogs vs Chris Frazier & Brian Collins
I hope they paid these guys an extra couple bucks or something for getting beaten like this. And apparently this wasn't even one of the bad ones. Being a Memphis jobber is not on mys list of dream jobs. The Moondogs tear the studio up as only they can and it is a treat to watch despite what the jobbers had to be thinking.

[1992-01-31-WWF-MSG, NY] Bret Hart vs The Undertaker
Not a bad match at all. The thing that stood out for me was the camera shot of a kid in Warrior make-up who looked like Christmas had been canceled. It is barely there, but it definitely stands out.

[1992-01-31-CMLL] Fuerza Guerrera vs Octagon
I could tell from the get-go that this match was about the seconds. Which absolutely killed it for me. Fuerza saves it in the third caida with his crane kick oops off the top and then they did that insane dive to a backwards Fuerza that looked like both piled into the seats in painful ways. Fuerza gave a good rudo performance here, but Octagon sucks and the seconds being on camera for at least one third of the match took me out of this. Oh yeah, and Konnan really, really, really sucks. I'm not entirely sure I can express that enough.

Proposal for 2018: Match Review Trades
Check. And in return. Buddy Rose and Rip Rogers vs babyfaces Adrian Adonis and Ron Starr. Video is in three parts. I liked this tag a lot. I am familiar with all 4 guys and it was cool to see where they were as workers in June of 1979. Rip Rogers had some fun comments on all of the videos too. Review is below. Thanks for the match MattD. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/41337-rip-rogers-buddy-rose-vs-ron-starr-adrian-adonis-portland-tv-63079/

[1979-06-30-Portland-TV] Rip Rogers & Buddy Rose vs Ron Starr & Adrian Adonis
First fall was all shine and Rogers seems like a guy who got how to shine up a babyface early on. Rose tries to act like he was the guy in the ring at the end of fall 1 but nobody is buying the act. Second fall was mostly Adonis working FIP (and doing a really good job of building sympathy) with a hot tag to Starr. Heels keep up the cheating and double teaming to get the fall. Third fall breaks down after a bit and Rogers tosses a chair into the ring that Starr ends up using. Sandy Barr becomes the center of attention with the resulting DQ and argument. I have always liked the announcer for Portland wrestling, he may not know the move names, but the guy gets over what is happening with the best of them. I don't even mind when he talks about football. Rogers is definitely in over his head here but he has a ton of energy and seems to follow the lead of everybody else well. Starr is already good, but he gets more snug with his striking somewhere in the next 7 years. His selling and bumping are already really good. And he comes up with some sequences that I have not seen in matches after this one. Adonis is really energetic and plays a solid FIP. His offense is one of the highlights of the match. When you see Adonis before he got really overweight he comes off as a really great worker and a star. Buddy Rose was great in the role I feel like he was born to play, the cowardly, yet deadly heel. He'll rip you apart any way he can, but shows so much unwillingness to fight fair or do much at all when his opponent can actually hit back it's hard to not hate him (in a kayfabe sense). Really good tag and a look at 4 guys I think highly of at different stages of their career.

I liked that Orndorff/Sammartino segment as well. It tied something new in with what has been going on and that goes a long way. Cooley and Johnson as a tag team should be fun. Duggan makes a big impact and in a very fitting way. Looking forward to Duggan brawling with Smirnoff and the Sheik.
