[1991-12-07-WCW-Power Hour] Missy Does The Mail: Jushin Liger Highlights
With the performances Missy gives I find myself asking i she were a male would she have had a job in any kind of performing business? I suppose you could apply that to a lot of women in wrestling. I wish whoever picked the music for this had been at Pearl Harbor. Good highlights, you think we'll see half of them in WCW?

[1991-12-07-RINGS] Akira Maeda vs Volk Han
It surprises me that Han throws better kicks than Maeda throughout. His palm strikes are far better when he is in close and they connect , might be him taking it easy on Maeda though. It strikes me that Volk may have given the striking advantage to people later in his career to create more drama. Han is winded very quickly and only gets worse as the match goes on. Maeda clearly not fighting at all while Han was catching his breath was just plain not good. I love Volk but both of these guys have better matches in them.

[1991-12-06-AJPW-Real World Tag League] Mitsuharu Misawa & Toshiaki Kawada vs Steve Williams & Terry Gordy
First three words out of my mouth when I saw this match were, "Ahhh fuck you!" Should let you know my mindset going in. MVCs do better in giving to Misawa/Kawada here. It isn't top shelf, but it is definite improvement. They even remember to stop with the boring shit and make the crowd react when it starts to get quiet. Finish is a really good twist on the story all year with...the same ending. Fuck you after all.

Can't decide if I like the Nashville or Atlanta show more. I'll just have to think both are great.

[1991-12-04-AJPW-Real World Tag League] Steve Williams & Terry Gordy vs Stan Hansen & Dan Spivey
I will agree on the MVC being an incredibly boring tag team. The crowd dies every time they are in control of a match. Hansen gets more out of them than anyone else and I did enjoy Doc's FIP. Good finishing run but it doesn't salvage my opinion of the MVC. I very much doubt that Hansen was coming to WCW at this point. He was too over in Japan and it would have taken a ton of money to get him to leave.

World Class Championship Wrestling: Feb. 1986
Gilbert and Shultz look like they are going to steal the show, but Embry comes back with tomess with the Funks in probably the dumbest move of the year. Great card.

[1991-12-03-WWF-This Tuesday In Texas] The Undertaker vs Hulk Hogan
The match itself shows how limited Taker was at this point and how good Hogan is at playing FIP and putting over an opponent's offense. Taker does really well at playing the zombie big man and wobbling but not falling. Finish is overbooked and silly but it's a Hogan match so color me surprised.

[1991-12-03-WWF-This Tuesday In Texas] Randy Savage vs Jake Roberts / Interview: Jake Roberts
The match itself was absolutely great. Everything was fought for and had meaning. Jake's promos topped it and I'm not sure there are 5 better heel promos out there than the post-match. The post-match also topped the match with the notable exception of bulllshit official interference causing Savage to take the DDT but doing nothing about the aftermath. I hate that so much, but it doesn't ruin easily one of the top 10 WWF/E angles ever. Edit: Sean Mooney telling Macho he was "just as angry as you are" should have earned him a KO.

[1991-12-02-WWF-Corpus Christi, TX] Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels
So much oddness about this match. Flair is overly generous, but Shawn's offense rarely ever looked this good. I normally don't care for Hayes on commentary but really liked him here. The finish was goofy as Hell with Janetty tossing a KOed Shawn back into the ring with no attempt at trying to wake him up. There is good work here in the technical sense. Shawn looks better than Hogan did against Flair. But none of it makes sense.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be in the arena after that TV as well. Every one of those matches mentioned is a must see.

WWF On Tour February 1986
Those last three matches on SNME would have all brought the house down. Windham having knee problems doesn't look good for Tito. Teddy vs. Hogan will be huge. Fuji walking away from the Mercs will have consequences.

[1991-11-30-WWF-MSG, NY] Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan
Good effort by both, but Hogan's offense looks pretty weak. Flair's selling of said offense seems a little over the top due to this. Perfectly done Hogan-wins-no-he-doesn't moment. This felt like a first meeting that was designed to leave fans wanting more and it did work.

Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling- Feb 86
Great main event with Pritchard being opportunistic afterwards. I like how you left the Roop stuff open-ended after the match. Setting up Robinson vs. St. Clair using the footage is the way to go. The 8-man brawl, the Horsemen stuff, Harley vs. Wahoo, so much great stuff going on in MACW.

[1991-11-30-USWA-Memphis TV] Tom Prichard and Eric Embry
Good segment and I always like Eddie getting violent (or threatening to) with Embry. Pritchard vs. Embry is a battle I can always get behind and I hope we get clips.

[1991-11-30-USWA-Memphis TV] Robert Fuller vs The Moondogs (Handicap)
Really good beatdown by the Moondogs on Fuller. Jarrett bringing in the chair after the match to get rid of the Moondogs was a nice touch, shows them to be tough when even Jarrett has to resort to using a weapon.

[1991-11-29-CMLL] MS-1 & El Satanico & Pirata Morgan vs Konnan & El Dandy & Rayo de Jalisco Jr
The bad: Konnan. I've never seen him look actively good in a wrestling ring. Wait, he did throw a nice dropkick here. That's as much good as I have to say about him. Rayo de Jalisco is about as bad a comedy worker as you'll find. His punches don't look like shit, so why is he doing this fucking gimmick? Maybe he is limited enough that it's all he can do, how do I know? The good (and better!): Pirata Morgan is a great bumper with some great stooging spots. His backwards crawl out of the ring is really impressive and I liked what the tecnicos did with it in caida 2, very creative. And that ringpost bump he did to himself was really big. Satanico and Dandy fighting again!! LOVED this. The end of caida 2 with Dandy backing Satanico around the ring only for all 3 Infernales to again go to work on Dandy was such a great touch. Loved how the finish played off of the hair match because the ref wasn't going to fall for it again, but the tecnico ref wasn't having it. That bit went on a little long for my tastes, but I suppose it worked. I'd say it was a really good match with some warts (named Rayo and Konnan) that are mostly ignorable.

[1991-11-29-AJPW-Real World Tag League] Mitsuharu Misawa & Toshiaki Kawada vs Jumbo Tsuruta & Akira Taue
One thing that gets overlooked in this match is how the opening moments were really good. Kawada hits an early powerbomb and Jumbo breaks it up. Then after Kawada's ribs take the beating they do, Misawa comes in hot and knocks Jumbo off the apron. Wouldn't you know it, but Kawada pays back Jumbo after he powerbombs Misawa and Jumbo takes an opportunity to knock Kawada off the apron after a tag later as well. Saving the eye for later was such a great choice. Just adds so much to an already great match and becomes the most memorable part. I think part of that is how the anticipation of it is built. The cameraman gets a generous look at Misawa's eye pre-match and you're waiting for Taue and Jumbo to attack it, but it never seems to happen. Great, great match and top tier for 1991.
