WWE Hall of Fame 2017
Usually, the fantasy "who will induct who" booking involves contemporaries of the inductee, but WWE does go the route of someone on the current roster to induct once in awhile. I could see them having someone like Heath Slater and Rhyno do some overly scripted piece. I'd rather not, but don't be shocked.

Maybe I missed something, but when is the awards issue coming out? Seems like it's usually out by now.

On merit, Backund certainly could headline a HoF, but I think he's too out there to have given a speech to close out the show. The way he's been portrayed in WWE history more as "Bowtie Bob" didn't help either.

For sure, that's another thing, for most of the celeb candidates, we must keep in mind that their involvement in WWE is a small part of their lives/careers. Might have just been a fun payday for some. Maybe Motorhead is a bit more mainstream in UK, maybe more of Europe, compared to the US. And despite the "hot UK crowds", most of WWE's business still comes from the States. WWE should probably demphasize the "headliner" part of the HoF ceremony. It's bad enough it always feels booked like a wrestling card rather than the results of a legit election like most real sports HoFs. They made a big mistake throwing Foley in there during the Bruno year, that's an easy headliner they used up. There was the year DiBiase "headlined" it, think a result of Warrior turning them down. Work more names like that to "close out" if you have to. (Edit: I have Celebrity Name Game on in the background, which is like Pyramid, and in the bonus round, Motorhead came up, and a middle aged woman immediately passed on it before giving clues to the celeb partners. Kinda works both ways, notable to be a answer on an American game show, but easily passed by the civilian contestant)

If Cesaro wins his 4th straight WON Most Underrated award this year, just get rid of the category. He's been doing fine in the last year, works most PPVs, doesn't get jobber intros, etc.

Me neither. Certain people are big in certain scenes, doesn't mean they crossover everywhere.

WWE Hall of Fame 2017
Snoop Dogg is a household name and is alive and has whatever that Sasha connection is. Lemmy doesn't have any of those things. Snoop is a perfectly fine WWE celeb inductee. Not the worst.

If he is inducted under that name, I'll assume the video package will just have IRS clips and not acknowledge anything before or after that, except maybe his cameos on Raw.

I'm glad there was some revenge on Sasha on her distraction finish last Raw. They pulled some stops to make the show not seem throwaway, but it dragged.

People are missing my point. I didn't compare Motorhead/Lenny to James Dudley, it was about the scope of celebrities inducted. Talk to regular people who aren't die-hard metal and/or wrestling fans, most don't know who Motorhead is. Their Q rating is not sky high. Everyone knows who Drew Carey is. Even if he's not "cool".

I feel bad for derailing the thread a bit. But let me add. I'm not a metalhead, but I'm in tune enough with pop culture to know how mainstream certain artists are. Motorhead is not the Rolling Stones. Ask 100 people on the street who Motorhead is, most wouldn't have a clue. Based on who's in the celeb wing, they don't really fit. WWE puts mainstream celebs who are alive. The most obscure ones are Refrigerator Perry (who was a big deal in '85, plus inducted in Chicago) and Bob Uecker (who still played the dad on a sitcom for 5 seasons and did beer commercials; although his popularity is kinda localized). They'd almost be like a James Dudley inductee at this point. Someone who was kinda known but was friends with the higher ups. The HoF is a little more professional than that now. Does Motorhead/Lemmy "deserve" it, of course. Bar is low for 100 celebs to go in. Will it happen, I'd say unlikely. Drew Carey, not even a fair comparison with mainstream recognition. Had his own sitcom for almost 10 years, hosted Whose Line and hosts a popular game show that has a sizable young adult/college demo. 20+ years with a high-profile starring role on network TV.

Would it be more likely they'd induct the original tag version rather than the 1997 version? The stable version didn't even last a year. Also has 3 dead guys. But would WWE really want to make Jimmy Hart a double inductee (if he's included)?

They're a niche band in the metal scene with a cult following. More of a UK deal too. They are not a household name in the States. The Celebrity Wing so far is pretty much all mainstream household names, they wouldn't fit. Refrigerator Perry is the most obscure, but even he was a big deal in the mid 80s. Yeah, why not put JBL in, who probably got bumped off last year due to wanting to change the leaked list a bit. Gives SD a bragging point for having a HoFer on their announcer crew. Lol Motorhead is not a niche band with a cult following, but okay. The band/Lemmy still deserve to be in the HOF more than just about any other celeb in the HOF. They put Inoki and Fujinami in the real wing, and had a section devoted to Gotch and Hackenschmidt last year. I'm willing to go out on a limb and say Motorhead is more known to current WWE fans than George Hackenschmidt, Lou Thesz, Frank Gotch, and Antonio Inoki. I think you might be a little too much in the wrestling and/or metal bubble on this one. I never said only wrestling fans knew who Motorhead was, but they aren't a household name by any stretch.

In theory and with how low the bar is to get in, of course Lemmy has a reason. I doubt it will happen, A) He's dead B ) He wasn't really a mainstream celeb (let's get out of the bubble and be honest here) C) Triple H doesn't let his ego get in the way as much when it comes to the HoF, considering who he's mended fences with and brought back to the fold. With whatever input and power he has with this, I think he's thinking more about the fans rather than putting all his buddies in. I hear fan discussion about how Andy Kaufman should go in the celebrity wing too, and I think he has less of a chance than Lemmy. Dead for 30+ years, did nothing in WWF proper (all the other celebs have), could have footage issues and I question what his notability is to younger generations. Sometimes you gotta think how WWE would think rather than fantasy book it.

WWE Hall of Fame 2017
Maybe they'd put some dead celebs in a deal like that Legacy wing they put Thesz in last year. Doing a posthumous induction for a celeb where WWE was a very small part of their life/career could be awkward.
-
WWE Hall of Fame 2017
I dunno if they'll ever induct deceased celebs. Especially with someone else having to accept and most possible celebs not deeply involved with WWE to begin with. They also tend to go for more mainstream names, and I don't think Lemmy is one. He's more of a heavy metal cult figure.

That's another thing, the "who gets in before who" deal. In the WWE HoF, that doesn't mean the ones inducted first are better ones like a regular sports HoF usually has it. No one thinks Koko is on the same or higher level as Rude just because he went in first and was a contemporary of Rude's. And those 3 examples were all alive when inducted, which made a difference.

WWE TV 01/02 - 01/08
Came in late, but that Bayley/Nia Jax Raw match was booked and executed horribly. The incompetent (in storyline) sound guy playing Sasha's theme while the match is ongoing. And not a throwaway match, but one for a title shot at a major PPV. Was a very "Diva era" move there.

WWE Hall of Fame 2017
Thing is, WWE has to save names given how different their Hall of Fame is compared to other sports. It's booked like a wrestling card rather than voted on, so you can't automatically go with the best names and risk having Val Venis headline in 2022. In addition to their other unofficial guidelines. Lot of feedback that the Rude induction is "long overdue", and I don't think anyone is "overdue" in WWE's HoF with the way they do things.

Hell in a Cell 2016
Heels are playing characters. Just because you don't wear a pink ribbon pin doesn't mean you are anti-cancer awareness. When more heels than faces wear the pins on-screen, there's a problem. If Nia Jax wants to wear a pin at the airport, that's one thing. But being a monster heel and having it on her outfit walking the ramp is another.

If you have the understanding that WWE HoF classes are booked rather than elected/voted upon, it becomes easier to accept.

They need to do some quality control on who wears Connor pins on-air. Or balance it out. I think more heels wear them than faces.
