AWA Results for September 1984
Love the teaming of Curt Hennig and Rick Martel. A real nice team there and one has to wonder ho long babyface Curt will be around as the obvious call is for him and Rude to find their ways to one another. I like Patera on top here with a couple of good challengers coming up the ranks, but right now he is the man to beat.

Dirt Sheets
WWF NEWS -Ted Dibiase has supposedly given his notice to WWF Officials. With Duggan and Williams leaving over the last couple of months, there aren't many "Mid South Guys" left from the turnover from McMahon. There is a lot of talk of Dibiase being promised the WWF title but with the Hogan acquisition, the plans were changed. With the Heenan Family as the top heels, he doesn't have a spot there. With Savage as the number 2 babyface, it is hard for him to work up to that spot. We will see how this develops over the next couple of weeks. -The WWF has brought in a newcomer named Haku. He went under the name King Tonga. Initial plans were for him to come in as a heel, but it looks like he will be joining up with Jimmy Snuka and Tonga Kid over the next couple of weeks. The WWF is in dire need of some babyface tag teams right now with the Bulldogs on top and the Briscoes locked into a singles feud with Dory Funk. Some could see Tonga Kid and Haku/King Tonga as a team in the future. - There is talk of WWF adding another title or a "title" in some way in the beginning of the year. There has been a lot of issue with Hulk Hogan's dates in Japan and as those dwindle in 1985, he has already secured those dates and must commit. With his absence, the WWF may look to do some kind of special attraction in January to keep the level of hype up. - The British Bulldogs are the WWF Tag Team Champions, but they are supposed to be on a tour of Japan in November and December. No word on whether or not they will take the titles with them. It could happen and the WWF would like the press, but the home markets may be hurt with the Bulldogs gone as champions along with Hulk Hogan gone as champion. - The One Man Gang is in for a cup of coffee. He is lined up to work a program with the Hulkster at some point but is doing a good job laying out jobbers week in and week out. This was part of a special three way trade of talent between the WWF, MACW, and AWA. With the feelings being good right now, it could take a simple straw to break this camel's back to see everything fall apart. - The WWF is already beginning the planning stages for 1985 and there are supposedly 6 week tours on pace. These six week tours will have tv tapings from 6 different places. Allentown PA, Hamburg PA, Hershey PA, Poughkeepsie NY, and St. Louis MO are already being used and there are talks of adding a Canadian or Florida spot for TV tapings due to markets and the boys respectively. The Saturday and Sunday shows will still be utilized with the Meadowlands and MSG, Houston and Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Chicago, and Boston and Miami being on tap, with the addition of Montreal and Toronto to go with the Canadian TV tapings and then the possibilities of Detroit, Kansas City, Indianapolis, or even Denver being a big town for the WWF. Some even thought that a tv taping would take place from California to set up a California tour with Los Angeles and San Francisco being the big towns and even traveling up to Portland. There is a lot of space for the WWF to move and some have thought that the 6 week tours may hurt business. Others have talked about the crews splitting and going to each on loops. Regardless, the expansion is moving forward in 1985 and it is just going to be how it goes down that makes a difference.

WWF on Tour Sept. 1984
It is such a fun feud to try and book and I have only touched on it so far. I don't know what is more important for Savage, the title or the protection of Elizabeth. It will be a fun story to watch unfold.

WWF on Tour Sept. 1984
I agree... I think it works at so many levels since it is such a cheap win and he gets his heat back on Heenan and beats him up. It is very questionable, but definitely leads to a rematch down the line for what would be a huge rematch in LA... perhaps in a cage... hmmm

WWF Superstars Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Matches from Hamburg, PA – The Fieldhouse Vince: Welcome everyone to Hamburg, Pennsylvania! I am Vince McMahon alongside Jesse the Body Ventura and Jesse we are in the Fieldhouse here for some exciting WWF Action! Jesse: That’s right McMahon and tonight we get to see two huge matches along with quite possibly the BIGGEST tag team in wrestling! Vince: You are certainly right there Jesse, tonight we will see Jerry Briscoe and Dick Slater in action, plus we will see a big main event with Sgt. Slaughter taking on Krusher Kruschev! Jesse: Krushev looking to avenge mother Russian and perhaps soften up Sgt. Slaughter for Ivan Koloff! Vince: We will talk about the night that Sgt. Slaughter had last night in Houston… right now it is time to head to the ring for our opening contest! Jerry Briscoe vs Dick Slater w/ Jimmy Hart -This one is a pretty decent contest with Briscoe and Slater doing work. We hear from Jack Briscoe who has got his head wrapped from the fight last night in Houston who lets us know he wants to end the feud with the Funks and will do whatever it takes to do so. Inside the ring tonight, Slater looks good as Jerry looks to finish but Slater hammers away. Momentum gets going through and Briscoe ends up capturing Slater in a crucifix for the 1….2…3!! The crowd pops as it appears as though the Briscoes are going to move forward from this feud… if that is even possible! *COMMERCIAL* -Superstars is back with Jesse and Vince talking about the Funks vs Briscoes feud and saying that it has to end somehow some way and that may be next week in Madison Square Garden. They put over how it will be Jack Briscoe vs Dory Funk Jr in a cage match but there will be no referee and no rules. The winner is the man who walks out of the cage when the other can’t fight anymore. They put over how there will also be a HUGE six-man tag match at MSG next week with Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, & Tony Atlas taking on Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, and Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan. They put over how Atlas has had problems with Masked Superstar as of late and would love to have a big win at MSG to get him some momentum. He is in action tonight. Tony Atlas defeated Johnny Rivera -Tony Atlas looks HUGE here tonight and he works over Johnny Rivera with no problem at all. He is throwing Rivera all over the ring as Vince and Jesse put him over. Ventura says Atlas looks good but not as good as him. In the end we see the PRESS SLAM for the 1….2…3! We get an inset interview from Masked Superstar who once again let’s the world know that Atlas may be big but he’s dumb and he is going to humiliate him when he gets the chance! *COMMERCIAL* NEXT WEEK IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN CAGE MATCH Jack Briscoe vs Dory Funk Jr. SIX-MAN TAG*** Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, & Tony Atlas vs Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, & Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP*** Jerry Briscoe vs Gino Hernandez © w/ Woman TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP*** The British Bulldogs © vs The Russians Ted Dibiase vs Nick Bockwinkel*** Sgt. They talk about the showdown with Bockwinkel and Hogan from last week and say there was no clear winner. Jesse has word that Bockwinkel is going to get his title sanctioned and will only face Hogan to unify the titles down to the line. Vince says it is all rubbish and Bock isn’t the rightful champion. We cut to the ring for more action from the Heenan Family. Big John Studd & King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan defeated Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell -Studd and Bundy are just MONSTERS out there and they make quick work Blair and Brunzell. We get a couple of double splashes and a huge body slam from Studd and then the big splash from Bundy on Blair for the 1….2….3! They work the crowd as Jesse says these guys are the uncrowned WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! *COMMERCIAL* -Superstars returns with Vince and Jesse pumping up Sgt. Slaughter and his feud with the Russians. They put over how he will meet Ivan Koloff next week in MSG and how that could be the match that turns the tide for either in the feud. Tonight in our main event, Slaughter takes on Krusher Kruschev as we head to the ring. MAIN EVENT Sgt. Slaughter vs Krusher Kruschev -A nice main event tonight with some HARD HITTING action. The crowd is solidly behind the Sarge who looks to be in control of things from start to finish but it doesn’t go too long. Once he locks in the Cobra Clutch we see Nikita Koloff come out of nowhere and give him the nastiest Russian Sickle and Slaughter goes down hard. Uncle Ivan comes in with the Russian chain and starts beating him down on the back with it. Officials and agents run down to break things up as Jesse puts over how Sarge’s career is over!

The fans were more behind Dory but Jimmy Hart allowed them to get some heat. Briscoe finally won when he hit Funk with a branding iron! Heenan: You can call it that Monsoon, but he made the smartest choice of his life. Gorilla: He sided with Jimmy Hart a week ago and shocked a lot of people, including the British Bulldogs who are looking to get revenge in the near future. Heenan: I really like this team though… you got the size of the Anvil and the technical ability of Bret Hart… it is a scary team to be in there with… Gorilla: I suppose it would be easy pickings for the Heenan Family though? All Japan Pro Wrestling
That is what I am trying with the Tenryu Revolution vs Holy Demon Army vs Super Generation Army angle all revolving around Kawada. Who will he pick? Plus with Eddie coming in under the mask and the Junior Heavyweight Title, I think there is enough different to give it the boost it needs but we will see in the long run. It is still only results but I don't know how much time I would have to really add too much more to it and if it would even fit with the setting.

CWA Championship Wrestling: Sept/Oct 1984
I agree, it is great to have Memphis back on the block... but don't call it a comeback because it was never really gone. Lots of very fun stuff here to get your roster in the shape you want it to be in. There's a ton of talent here that fits with the territory. Looking forward to Lawler and company getting back into business.

I like seeing this team of Adonis and Gilbert along with Cornette and Sherri. Seeing Dino and Martel together builds things in a big way but to have them lose makes it even more important.

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
The ever changing pieces of the USWA are great to see as you really don't know what is going to happen week in and week out. I love the trio of Fernandez,Williams, and Gordy... perhaps three of the most bad ass dudes in the business right now. I know I got shit for pulling together some fatal fourway matches in late 83, but they work well here. I don't think that the idea is totally out of the realm, with someone like Watts, you know he would think about stuff and just need to pull the trigger on putting it out there.
