1983 Project General Chatter Thread
Looking to see if anyone had info on when Percy Pringle (Paul Bearer) and Downton Bruno (Harvey Wippleman) debuted? On wiki, for Pringle "In 1984, he resumed full-time involvement in the wrestling business, using his Pringle character in Championship Wrestling from Florida, World Class Championship Wrestling in Texas, and the United States Wrestling Association (a successor to WCCW)." On wiki, for Bruno, it says he debuted in 1979. Are we good with bringing these guys in on April 1st and adding them to free agency as people we've missed?

We agreed if she didn't get picked she'd go in as a wrestler. I think it's fine you picked her up... I'd say Medusa is in the same boat now and able to be picked up.

Along with the recent trade with Mid south and Stampede - I have to release Frenchy Martin to keep up the 36 +3 rule.

Trade deals
Scott Hall (ASAP) & Lord Humungous (When he completes his dates) will be heading to Stampede for Dino Bravo & The Barbarian along with Frenchy Martin

I didn't know if we were including Sherri as a manager since she was a freelance women's wrestler. She was one of the reasons I was using the women wrestlers for that purpose. I am fine with it as long as the rest of the group is.

I think Buddy is going to turn some serious heads and with that roster, he could jump right in and be the top heel depending on how Perfect uses Jake and the Harts and that big group of Samoans.

That should do work if they pop back in. This also with the +1 fir April and we should be good to go April first. Remember you can pick up a 3 man jobber pack, manager, or regular wrestler with tour +1.

Yee, if Dex wants someone we can work it out. I am guessing he's been pretty busy as of late.

Mid South & USWA Sharing Bill Dundee USWA Ken Timbs & Baby Doll AWA - Heavenly Bodies w/ Jim Cornett & Adrian Street w/ Miss Linda Stampede - Buddy Landell Mid Atlantic - Rock N Roll Express Does this look right?
-
1983 Project General Chatter Thread
I could also share Dundee with you Kev, we could work that out between us as it would be beneficial for both of us so you could get baby doll in Dundee I would just need him for a couple of specific dates. Would that work?
-
1983 Project General Chatter Thread
So essentially if it worked out, Stampede would get buddy, AWA would get the bodies, Mid-Atlantic would get the rock and roll, and if it still suits everyone Mid-South would pick up Bill Dundee. It would be a three-month loan period starting on April 1st. Does that sound like it would work Boone? We would still have Adrian Street out there if somebody wanted to take him along with baby doll.

I know that Jhawk just said that he was going to be taking a break and Patrick even though I don't want to speak for him does have interest in the rock and roll Express. If we could just figure it out between us I'm sure it would work out to not even worry about it draft unless we want to go down that route and see who gets that top pick.
-
1983 Project General Chatter Thread
I think the first thing to do, is to see how many people are interested in getting anyone from that loan list from Southeast. If you are interested say it on here and then we can work out the best way to get it done.

Are you keeping these people as roster spots on your roster then or would we be picking them up?

I think this would be the first pro wrestling VHS wouldn't it? It would definitely be worth it with that line up. We are still a ways away from PPV but we could start seeing some VHS comps coming out in the next couple of months.

Yes, April 1st you have the choice... 3 person jobber pack, a manager, or a regular wrestler I also know that today has been 60 days with no contact for Pwsony... so I feel as though it is appropriate to move PerfectlyStraightedge into Stampede and let him take over. Any oppose?

I love the idea of Piper interviewing himself. Few if any could every get away with something like this like he did. I don't know if I am fully on board with the rookies of Shane Douglas and Bam Bam but I do think there is potential but the pairing just has me confused. USWA is going slowly but surely... I do think you have transitioned well and put together a top product in the world of wrestling we've created. Consistency is key and you've kept right up there with it.

Mid South Wrestling on Tour March. 1984
Mid South Wrestling is coming to you on its Fox Affiliates throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Action is coming to you tonight from the Irish McNeil Boy’s Club in Shreveport, Louisiana! {MSW opens with footage of all the top stars of Mid South and then we see Jim Ross standing by with Cowboy Bill Watts!} Jim Ross: Welcome everyone to Mid South Wrestling. I am Jim Ross alongside Cowboy Bill Watts. Bill, we have got one of the most important nights in the history of Mid South right here this evening. Bill Watts: That’s right Jim… you’ve got the North American Championship on the line and Ted Dibiase is back! Jim Ross: Ted Dibiase said it clearly this past week on Power Pro, he doesn’t have any friends and he’s fighting a battle against possibly two men here tonight! Bill Watts: If you ask me, he’s right. He has burnt every bridge he’s got here in Mid South on his way to getting that title but tonight he is going to have to go it alone and you know where Tully Blanchard is… Gino Hernandez isn’t far behind! Jim Ross: Fans this match is going to have a sixty-minute time limit which is what we’ve got here for television… we are going to get it going right now and give these men time… who will walk out with the gold? MID SOUTH NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP Ted Dibiase © vs Tully Blanchard w/ Gino Hernandez -No better way to kick it off that with Boyd Pierce setting a monumental stage for what will be a defining moment in the history of Mid South. Ted Dibiase makes his return to the ring and the fans aren’t overly big on him but they are more against Tully, which helps his cause. This is a fantastic 25-minute match. These guys show why they are two of the top wrestlers anywhere in the world right now and for just cause. We get a commercial break in the contest when we return, Tully has taken full control of the contest. Gino jumps on commentary and puts himself over in the biggest way. Inside the ring we see Tully looking to wear down the back and go to finish but Dibiase has got other plans. He fights back with the passion of a thousand fires and he is slowly winning over the fans. His back is in bad shape though as Gino points out and Tully looks to finish. Tully goes for a hot shot suplex but Dibiase goes over his back and pushes him into the ropes for a roll up but then we see Gino jump up on the apron and Dibiase runs and FLOORS him with a huge forearm and Gino goes flying to the ground. Tully Blanchard comes up and swings wildly but Dibiase grabs him for an atomic drop and then a bulldog for a close two count! Dibiase goes for a piledriver but Tully drops down as Gino is up against. PeeWee Anderson tries to stop him but inside the ring, Tully Blanchard grabs Dibiase and LOW BLOW… and another LOW BLOW! Dibiase is down as Dibiase picks him up and PILEDRIVER! Gino drops down as Tully covers Dibiase for the 1….2….3!!! WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION! TULLY BLANCHARD IS THE NEW NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION! *COMMERCIAL* -MSW is back and Gino Hernandez and Tully Blanchard are showing off their titles to the crowd as Bill Watts is calling them out for their actions! Jim Ross is also putting them down talking about the low blow! Tully says the referee counted 1…2…3 and there’s nothing anyone can do about it! Dibiase is helped to the back by referees as we see our next contest coming up. It is a rematch from last week with the Killer Bees challenging the Fantastics. We cut to the ring for the contest… The Fantastics vs the Killer Bees -We see Tommy and Bobby come out as they look at Ted Dibiase being carried back. They turn their attention to Gino and Tully who give them the glare of all glares. Inside the ring, we get a nice little 5-minute contest as the Killer Bees put out a solid effort against the Fantastics once again but Tommy and Bobby have got some kind of fire under them and we see them dispatch the Bees with a pair of double dropicks leading to the 1…2….3!! Ross and Watts put these guys through the roof in the biggest way as they walk over… Jim Ross: Gentlemen, without a doubt, you have something to say about what we saw here earlier tonight… Tommy Rogers: I want to put it on the line right now… Gino Hernandez… Tully Blanchard… you two are nothing but SCUM! You are nothing but low down pieces of trash! Bobby Fulton: Now we don’t really know Ted Dibiase and we surely don’t side with him… but when you’re a champion… you deserve some respect. That respect is absolutely gone from you both. You are not champions of pride and honor but of filth and grime! Tommy Rogers: Now we know that there’s a long list of men who want a shot at these titles around our waists… and we know there is a long line of men who want those titles from you… Bobby Fulton: But if this man… (Bill Watts) puts it together.. boys… we will put it all on the line! -The crowd pops as the Fantastics works the crowd… when we come back we will hear from the Russians! *COMMERCIAL* -MSW returns with footage from the recent happenings of the Russians. We see the debut of Ivan from a couple of weeks ago and the big beatdown from Kruschev last week. Ivan and Kruschev join Watts and Ross… Jim Ross: Welcome in here gentlemen… Ivan Koloff: Jim Ross… you do best right now to keep your mouth shut while I speak. I am tired of one way commentary from you and Bill Watts. That’s right Bill Watts… I am here to set the record straight. For too long have you held my family down. For too long have you held Russian down. I have spoken to the Kremlin and they have sent me the weapon to change this war. Bill Watts: What are you talking about Koloff… Ivan Koloff: I tell you what I am talking about. I am talking about your Hacksaw Duggan. Your Steve Williams. Your Mike Rotundo. These men who you saw are America. (Spits on the ground) I spit on them and I spit on you for putting Russian down. Bill Watts: Well let me tell you something pal… this is the United States of America and if you don’t like it you can GET OUT! Ivan Koloff: Oh I will leave Bill Watts… I will leave when someone makes me… but first I am going to unleash the Superpower! Bill Watts: Who is this Superpower huh? Get this guy outta here! -Officials and agents run off Koloff who is yelling all the way to the back. Watts and Ross put it over as we’ve got limited time remaining for our big main event… Magnum TA & Wahoo McDaniel vs King Kong Bundy & Rick Rude w/ Jimmy Hart -A great capper to what has been an amazing night of action. This one has about 15-minutes of television time remaining and they use every second of it. These guys have got a lot of heat heading into this one as all four of these men have had issues as of late. Jim Ross talks about Bundy being one of the top contenders for the North American title while Magnum is one of the top contenders for the television title. Watts says that Rick Rude and Wahoo McDaniel will meet this week in San Antonio and next week in Houston. Here tonight in Shreveport though, we get a clustered up finish that sees Jimmy Hart get ROCKED by Magnum TA as he and Bundy then fight outside the ring. Inside the ring, Rick Rude hits Wahoo with a nasty high knee and then rolls him up with a handful of tights for the 1…2…3!! Rude and Bundy walk out winners here but Magnum is back out to get his hands on them as the show goes off the air with Ross and Watts putting over tonight’s action in the biggest way.

Dirt Sheets
-In a big move by Bill Watts, Power Pro will be pulled from the air this week and for the subsequent future. Word is that the financing of the show along with some negative reviews from seeing the wrestlers wrestling in the same venue as MSW has caused Bill Watts to pull the plug. While Mid South is doing good numbers, the price tag for some of the top talent is too high to continue to keep two television shows on the air. There are some rumblings that issues in Oklahoma around the oil business may be cause for concern for Mid South, but Watts was quick to hush those rumors. Vince McMahon was especially irate due to this being the one way he was on television with Jim Ross hosting MSW. Watts is looking for McMahon to focus on contracts and building up the talent relations in the future and less about television. Watts was not impressed with Vince's ideas to get national coverage for Mid South. Negotiations were in the final stages to have Mid South syndicated in New York and Los Angeles and even Chicago due to McMahon's influence, but once Power Pro went down, so did the deals. There may be a chance down the line for MSW to be run on syndication, but that looks grim. -Mid South is putting everything they've got into this week's edition of Mid South Wrestling with the return of Ted Dibiase and the defense against Tully Blanchard. - Bill Watts was able to successfully veto Bruiser Brody's entrance into the big $200,000 tournament in Houston on April 6th and 7th. Boesch has no choice but to answer his demands as Mid South sent a lot of talent for the event. This may be the final days of Mid South in Houston if this relationship doesn't get better. No word on who Hansen will get as a partner. Ole Anderson was one name, but he isn't too high on Watt's list either. Another option could be someone from Japan... but that could come with a high price tag and booking concerns from Giant Baba as he works directly with Hansen. Dory Funk Jr was another name and even Terry Funk's name came up. His replacement is expected to be named in the coming days. -Another name on the block is Kendall Windham who has been working through some nagging injuries as of late. This would leave Barry to find a partner... he wouldn't go with Hansen but could find someone else. Some have even said he would get the JYD to join him but JYD seems to be "off limits" due to his "contract status" with Mid South but anything could happen. -There is talk of Mil Mascaras & Jose Lothario jumping into the tournament somehow. There are no openings, but if Hansen or Windham gets bumped, they could step right into that spot as Boesch wants to see them in the tournament. -Don't expect to see the Masked Superstar around Mid South for a while as talks fell through with Bill Watts on his appearances and pay. He also has Japanese dates coming up so he may not return until mid summer if he even does at all. -Watts is expected to run a Superdome show in late May and then two more this year. He wants to build up to a big show in September and then finish off the year in December.

I think everyone has ideas on how a territory can be run effectively. If this were real life, I know my money would be coming in from the house shows compared to television. With roughly 2 hours of television in my markets, my big draw is coming from setting up the big shows with the talent I've got. Not all my top talent comes on television week in and week out, but if you come to the shows you will see them in action. I don't think you need to invest too much time in a big "this is how/why this person is gone" type thing due to guys coming and going from the territories on a weekly basis at this point in time. Whatever is best for business though will end up being the way to go.

Sorry to hear about things Kev. Look forward to you coming back as soon as you can. Boon, I do think that the influx can be bad for some and good for others which is why I wanted to try and urge people that it was a choice. with the expansion of Mid South, I've been able to bring in some bigger names in different roles but in doing that, I've pushed away guys that got me to the moment. Mr. Wrestling II is a prime example of a guy I pushed big to get things going... but now he is in a completely different role. The big thing is how you use your guys. I think you have been very successful with a small promotion and running your local guys and putting over what you want to put over. If you are interested in dishing out talent, I will definitely look at working with you as Mid South has its foundational lobby with a revolving door of newcomers coming in here and there.
