  1. Not wanting to step on toes, but with the UWF happenings, is Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana more open for individuals to potentially run there? I already have shows in Houston but would love to throw a loop in there in August if at all possible, especially with markets like Dallas and Fort Worth along with San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and others.
  2. I don't think my point is going towards a Flair title defense... but I just don't know why, outside of name value, the NWA World Champion would be put in that position for the UWF. He has a lot on his plate here for a promotion and alliance that for all intensive purposes, he doesn't belong to. If anything, this was a chance to build someone up and put them in that spot. That could have been a big stepping stone for someone to take that and become a mega star for the company/alliance. I'll concede that point. I could see Ricky Morton or Tommy Rich playing a similar role and getting some shine off of that... though I can't quite see either of them brawling outside with Stan Hansen and then clocking Dusty with a chair. As for *why* Flair got the slot... I think the simple happy coincidence that he was born in Memphis That could be the rhyme and reason behind it all. Just want to throw the feedback out to help in the future. Kevin did a good job writing the show. It is very creative. I just think the roster management and match placement could have been worked out and that opportunity to have someone make themselves in the main event was perhaps missed. I think the move to Memphis will be a good one for sure and look forward to what happens.

  4. All matches on card are subject to change... anything could happen!
  5. Well... this was an interesting show. Let me first start by saying you've got a card FULL of huge stars... so much so that in my mind it almost hurts the card. There is no undercard when the NWA world champion is swallowed away into a six-man tag. Even the USWA championship match, which opens the card, is lost is all that is and was this card. You have put together an incredible roster for this show, but I kind of feel that the amount of star power hurts it in the long run. I just can't get over Ric Flair being hidden away in the six-man... outside of the NWA of all things... without a title match. It is almost like he was picked for the match just on his name but his ability doesn't play into the match. I would even go as far as to say the same for Barry Windham who isn't quite used to his potential in an all intensive purposes squash match with Kendall getting his ass beat. I just don't know how I feel about this promotion coming out of this show with the amount of talent you have and the kind of direction you plan on going. I have to move froward with the idea that perhaps less is more with some of the things you have going forward when it comes to the use of some of these absolute huge main event names that did not have any rhyme or reason behind their use on this show outside of just their name. In terms of writing, the show is written well. The finishes make sense. The way that the battle plays out makes sense. *EDIT* I also want to commend you for your use of Haku and Barb and instantly making them on the same level with the Road Warriors... well maybe not the same but definitely contenders.
  6. WWF Live 6/23/1985 New York City, New York – Madison Square Garden MAIN EVENT Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage defeated Harley Race & King Kong Bundy BATTLE ROYAL Nikita Koloff won a 20-man battle royal TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Machines vs Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams went to a double DQ Barry Windham vs Bret Hart went to a 20-minute draw
  7. WWF Superstars Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Matches from Allentown, PA – Agricultural Hall Hillbilly Jim defeated Steve Lombardi Ivan Koloff: You see something you good for nothing Hillbilly… you have chosen the wrong man to team with. You have chosen Hulk Hogan and in that choice you have gone against Nikita and gone against the Kremlin. They say that millions of people watch Saturday Night’s Main Event…well on that night I am going to unleash the Russian Nightmare. I am going to let him loose on you and he will destroy you Hillbilly Jim. He will make you pay for all that you have said and all that you have done. He will make you pay for being a Hulkamaniac! *COMMERCIAL* Billy Jack Haynes defeated Conquistador 3 -A good showcase for Billy Jack who is really coming into his own here in the WWF. He is able to hand Conquistador 3 and finish him with the full nelson for the submission. *COMMERCIAL* WWF CHAMPIONSHIP CAGE MATCH Hulk Hogan © vs “King” Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan -This is about as big as a main event gets in the WWF or anywhere for that matter in 1985. The cage is erected ad the men make their entrances to the ring with the crowd going absolutely nuts for Hogan. This one goes 16-minutes with both men bleeding before it is complete. We see Race, a master of the cage match for all intensive purposes outdoes Hogan when it comes move for move but the momentum that Hogan brings is just unparalleled by any who step into the ring. In WWF fashion, the catch match is used to keep Heenan outside of the ring but to make one of the wrestlers escape the cage. It is a big moment with Race looking to get out but Hogan gets up to him and then we see a very basic and nice looking back drop from Hogan on Race off the cage to the mat. Both men then begin the climb… they get up the ropes and to the top of the cage as they continue to punch and claw at one another. Then we see Hogan with a big shot and then he bangs Race’s head off the cage and he goes flying back into the ring and Hogan goes over the top… poses for the crowd… then down to the floor for the victory. -In the post match shenanigans… this is of course being taped… Hogan goes for Heenan who goes back into the ring and we see Hogan with the famous atomic drop that sends Heenan out of the ring. He and Race walk off as Hogan starts to pose and work the crowd… all is good in the world…until… Ivan and Nikita Koloff show up! They walk down the aisle and get into the cage with Hogan who doesn’t see them until they are both in. Then we see the pack of hyenas attack with Ivan grabbing Hogan’s leg and Nikita coming down with some nasty blows. This is a vicious beat down as Ivan goes and locks the cage… inside the ring they have got a bigger Russian chain and they destroy Hogan’s ribs. They wrap the chain around his neck as Fulton, Windham, Tony Atlas, and Dino Bravo all run out to try and get in the cage. they begin to all climb as Hogan is in the ring, bleeding, busted ribs, with the Russian chain around his neck. The fans seem to be getting closer and closer to the ring as there is a lot of security out there. We finally see the babyfaces get in the ring as Ivan and Nikita walk off… heavily escorted by security. What has the Russian Nightmare done to the Hulkster? *COMMERCIAL* EVENT CENTER Mean Gene: Gene Okerlund here in the event center folks and lemme tell you that the Royal Brawl is HEATING UP in a big way. The date has been moved though folks… we will be in Chicago on Saturday the 29th on June for the Royal Brawl! The tag team titles will be on the line when the Machines defend against the Hart Foundation. They have even gone as far as saying that they will put their hair on the line if need be! In a special attraction, steel cage match, it will be Greg Valentine and Tito Santana in a submission match. Folks that means that in order to win, you must make your opponent submit. Both men use the figure four and you know anything could happen in this one. Two more matches signed for that card as we will see Barry Windham taking on Gino Hernandez and Jake Roberts taking on Brutus Beefcake. Roberts has had a little change of heart recently while Beefcake continues to have issues with Jimmy Hart. That match will tell the tale of these two men’s futures. The other special contest will be a 20-man battle royal and folks… Nikita Koloff the Russian Nightmare has signed up for that contest. Look out to all those involved as he and Ivan get ready for the big showdown in just 3 weeks at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Houston. Right now we have words from some of the participants of these big shows… Greg Valentine: This is it Santana… I have had enough of you and everything you stand for! Since you came to the WWF, you have been nothing but a rock in my boot. You have been a thorn in my side. Nothing more than a pest… well guess what pal… come Saturday in Chicago… when that cage goes up… I am going to be rid of you forever! I am going to make you quit in the middle of that ring and you will not be able to show your face in this company, let alone this country ever again! I don’t care what it takes… how long it takes… or what it does to you… I am going to make you quit and you are going to feel the full power of the HAMMER! Tito Santana: Greg Valentine, you and I have fought all over the world. You and I have seen the best of each other… but come Saturday in Chicago… it is going to take more than just the best… it is going to take more than anything you have ever brought into that ring. The people all over the country have been rooting for me. They have been cheering for me. They have been telling me how proud of me they are. I am going to take all of that in the ring with me and I am going to show you why I am not only the toughest wrestler you have ever faced but the best. I am going to put you away for good and then… if that pencil neck Jimmy Hart gets in there, I may shut him up for good too! Hulk Hogan: Well lemme tell all the people out there that these bandages tell the story of what happened to me a couple of weeks ago at the Summer Showdown but they don’t really show what is going on inside my heart. I have been training harder than ever due to these injuries and King Kong Bundy, don’t you think for a moment that I am going to take you lightly brother. I know this is a big target on me and you are going to strike it like you’ve never done… but know this dude… when that bell rings I am coming witht eh force of Hulkamania and it has never been rivaled or equaled in the past and will never be touched in the future. But there is someone else out there that I want to pay close attention and that is you Nikita Koloff. Uncle Ivan has been going around talking about how you are the chosen one of the Kremlin. How you are the one who has been picked to end Hulkamania and not only destroy me but tke the WWF Championship back to Russia. Well you can take that and shove it brother. You are looking of 300 pounds of Red, White, and Blue my man. You are looking at the chosen one of the millions and millions of Hulkamaniacs all over the world and WHATCHA gonna do on Saturday Night’s Main Event when me and Hillbilly Jim DESTROY YOU!!!! WWF Presents: THE ROYAL BRAWL Saturday June 29th, from UIC Pavilion Chicago, Illinois MAIN EVENT WWF CHAMPIONSHIP Hulk Hogan © vs King Kong Bundy INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP VS THE CROWN Randy Savage © vs Harley Race (King) CAGE SUBMISSION MATCH Tito Santana vs Greg Valentine TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Machines © vs The Hart Foundation Barry Windham vs Gino Hernandez Jake Roberts vs Brutus Beefcake 20-Man Battle Royal!! Jake Roberts vs Sika w/ Gary Hart Barry Windham vs Bret Hart *COMMERCIAL* Tito Santana vs Brutus Beefcake w/ Jimmy Hart -A good contest for both of these men who have got a lot of heat around them with their situations. It goes about 9-minutes and we end up seeing a big miscommunication when Greg Valentine comes out… Jimmy Hart is trying to distract the referee while Brutus holds Tito for Valentine to nail him with the megaphone but Tito ducks… knocks out Brutus… Santana dropkicks Tito off of the apron to the floor. Tito covers for the 3 count and he escapes while Valentine and Hart are scowling at Tito, inside the ring Brutus is knocked out with no help!!

  9. WWF Wrestling Challenge Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby The Brain Heenan in studio Matches from Allentown, PA – Agricultural Hall Once again we open this week’s show with Gorilla and Bobby bantering about the Heenan Family. Gorilla says they are dropping like flies and wonders if there will be anything left after next week in Chicago at the Royal Brawl. They put over the big card and Heenan says that if his men lose, he may just retire from wrestling forever. Gorilla says he hopes the Hulkster and the Macho Man do their best to make it happen! Paul Roma & Jim Powers defeated The Rivera Bothers -Good showcase for Roma and Powers who are just a step above jobber level. They have got a good look and do some decent work in the ring. A nice suplex to a splash combo is all she wrote here. *COMMERCIAL* SUMMER SHOWDOWN Tito Santana vs Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart -This one gets a good 18-minutes and they tell this story of pure hatred. Santana will do anything tog get his hands on Valentine and to what cost? Tonight he goes after him with a vengeance and it ends up costing him the contest after Jimmy Hart gets involved and Tito nails him with the megaphone and then Valentine with it. We see officials and agents come down to the ring and hold him back. We even get a Jack Tunney appearance as he berates Santana here before they take him to the back. Inside the ring, Valentine is busted open in a bad way and is gushing. *COMMERCIAL* Sika and Kamala w/ Gary Hart defeated Tom Zenk & Phil Lafon Gary Hart: I have told the world that I am going to bring down the thunder and I am going to strike with the lightening. Right here are two of the most dangerous men not only in wrestling but in the world and they have their eyes set on the prize. The prize I have promised to fulfill. The man who pays the money has put out the deed and now it is time to collect! *COMMERCIAL* EVENT CENTER Mean Gene: Gene Okerlund here in the event center folks and lemme tell you that the Royal Brawl is HEATING UP in a big way. You see this gold around my waist is just not enough… yeah… you see to match this gold belt, I need a gold crown and the scepter that will tell the story of the future of the Macho Man Randy Savage. Now everybody wants to know about my relationship with Elizabeth… well it goes like this… I AM THE MACHO MAN! I am the Intercontinental Champion… yeah… and Elizabeth is my manager… she is there to hold the rope and take my coat. She is there to take the title from me and give it back to me. She knows her place… she knows her role… and if anyone has a problem with it… come at me. DIG IT! Jake Roberts: A change of heart as they say… something where maybe you change your mind on one thing or another. Someone came up to me and wanted me to sign something and they told me they thought I was great. I have known all along that I was great… I didn’t need that kind of affirmation… but it felt good. It felt good to know that what I do goes on notice and perhaps I need to do a little bit more of it. Perhaps I need to put a couple more people on the list and introduce them to the DDT and Damien. Jake Roberts vs Sika w/ Gary Hart Barry Windham vs Bret Hart *COMMERCIAL* SUMMER SHOWDOWN WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Machines vs Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams © -Here we go… this one has been built for quite some time and it truly delivers. These four guys go about 22-minutes with everything on the line. Adams and Hernandez have got everything flowing while the Machines have got some big time power and strength going for them. Hernandez and Adams bump all over the place and show why they hold titles in three different countries. Tonight though, it is all about the Machines as Super and Strong do everything they need. The finish sees Adams go for the big crescent kick but Super grabs his foot and then locks him up under his leg and over his other shoulder for a suplex and Adams lands on his head. Hernandez watches on before Strong comes over and clotheslines him out of the ring while Super makes the cover for the 1…2….3!! WE HAVE NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! Super and Strong have won the titles and really capitalized on all of their momentum here over the past couple of weeks.
  10. Should be Mike Stark.
  11. Looking forward to it Jesse.
  12. Do what you've got to do. It is a serious situation over there. Be safe and be back when you get settled, we'll be here.
  13. If that's the case I will do that.. I have one spot open for uncle jail bird kenny.
  14. So I could pick up Ken Patera and just sit on him for the next year then right?

  17. 1986 Fresh Face Draft WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin Lutte - Edgar AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Round 1 WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin Lutte - Edgar - TRADED TO USWA AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Round 2 WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin - TRADED TO LUTTE Lutte - Edgar AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Round 3 WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin Lutte - Edgar AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Japan is not on the list as any new Japanese talent is his to pick from... however, if Gordi would like to get some full time US Talent as rookies, I am sure we could work those parameters out. The last draft was a dispersal draft and he hasn't been part of the fresh face. As he pointed out, Sasaki and Hase are both rookies and will go directly to JWA. Does that seem best or should we change it?
  18. Yeah, the argument with Gino I know is the cocaine use... would have Vince let that happen in the WWF, especially with the schedule they had. You don't hear of too many others in WWF history dying like that in the 80s. I think what Kevin said is where I am at... when the game was established, it was said that we would keep the dates of wrestlers the same with deaths, retirements, prison, and all other things of that nature and I personally think that is best. I would LOVE to be able to use Gino past his death but in the contest of what we've got, I just don't know if it is the right direction. I understand the alternate reality vibe we have and I love it, but I am of the opinion that keeping these little things close to realism is a good move as they are so few and far between. Are there other instances of elongated absence? Patera and Saito in prison Piper goes to make movie Any others?
  19. Did anyone else catch the first episode? I enjoyed it as a quick shot and Mooney is very humble and almost unknowingly a true staple of this WWF time period. Duggan has a hard time not talking over him in the first episode but things do get calmed down. Duggan has a comment about "hats and sleeves at this level" that had me busting up. Lots of upside with these two if the show doesn't get over produced in my opinion. Worth an hour of your time to check out.
  20. I am going to think this one over long and hard this weekend as I don't have a clear answer. I would love to say that circumstances could be different in this situation but then I would also want to make that case for Gino Hernandez who has an untimely death in February of 86. I would love to hear what others think about this situation please chime in so that we can come up with the best possible plan as if we make it to 1987 Roddy Piper has the same thing so we have to look at any kind of hiatuses prison or what have you in these situations
  21. You have got a lot going on here in the UWF but I am starting to soften on Idol, especially with the Blassie pairing. Going to be fun to see how he handles the big time competition of the company.
  22. The USWA continues to roll tide if you will as the Dingo Warrior is thrust right into the spotlight. I have said it before, as a rookie, he and Sting are valued commodities and it would be interesting to see how they would handle this type of exposure so early into their careers. One thing that is kind of interesting for me is your television and how you have some of the jobber guys working at both Tennessee and Oklahoma, relatively close together in terms of time.
  23. Quick hits from the AWA but the shit keeps going and Bockwinkel is back and Rick Rude with a win over Steamboat was HUGE even with the OMG shenanigans.
  24. WWF Live 6/16/1985 Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Maple Leaf Gardens MAIN EVENT Hulk Hogan & Tito Santana defeated Greg Valentine & Harley Race w/ Jimmy Hart & Bobby Heenan -Much the same as last night but tonight we get some Bravo chants, especially after the news broke that he went back to Lutte. TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Machines defeated King Kong Bundy & Brutus Beefcake Nkita Koloff w/ Ivan defeated Tony Atlas INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Randy Savage © defeated Jake Roberts via DQ Barry Windham & Bobby Fulton defeated the Hart Foundation in a 2/3 Falls Match
