All of those things were under their control. Sasha initially set up the table at too low of an angle and Charlotte didn't throw her into it right for it to break, and then Charlotte did it again and it looked even worse as Sasha gently rolled back down. It didn't look violent at all. If they didn't think they could make it look good then they shouldn't have tried it. This wasn't even the only bad looking table spot in the match; when Charlotte went through the table on the outside it didn't really break either. I'd just chalk it up to them not being good at putting people through tables. I get that some people like the "but it's good because it's different from what we normally see" argument, but on rewatch a month later it really doesn't look violent or good at all, especially as a finish to a match that began with a dramatic stretcher job. Tonight I'm pretty sure we're going to see Alexa Bliss go through a table and she's 15 lbs smaller than Sasha. Women in Japan and on the indies go through tables just fine at Sasha's weight.

Even though I wasn't really anticipating it, I think that TLC will be a lot better than Survivor Series, for pretty much the reasons you state. The two women's feuds have actually been pretty heated and personal, so having gimmick matches makes some sense, and they will benefit from the relative novelty of women's gimmick matches. AJ always has good main event title defenses, and I think he'll be able to maintain the sort of chaotic environment that makes Ambrose look best. They should just never do another chairs match. The Miz/Ziggler ladder match should be okay, but every recent WWE ladder match has been underwhelming because they're unwilling (and rightly so) to match the escalation of stupid spots that got them over in the first place. Do you really think they'll be able to resist?
Every time I think about it I'm still surprised that there's another PPV this weekend.
I'm pretty sure that someone on a PTBN/PWO podcast mentioned that they stopped watching wrestling because of the Warrior / Papa Shango angle.
I'd like to hear Bret justify the difference between the ringpost bump and the Flair flop.
One of my biggest beefs with (a lot of) modern wrestling is matches having to end with finishers. There's no legitimate drama in the match until the finishers start coming out. Everyone in the main event scene of WWE is guilty of this to a certain degree, but Owens has taken it to unprecedented heights. It doesn't help that he's often conserving energy near the end of a match due to his conditioning, and is just waiting between finisher kickouts to do the next one. One obvious potential outcome of a style like this is that there could be more injuries and more early retirements. What's the best way to measure whether this is happening?
I guess this proves again that Jericho and Ambrose shouldn't ever be in the same match.
People are probably regretting getting a free month of the Award-Winning WWE Network for this.
When was the last WWE PPV that was this bad? What about the last one not named Battleground?
