NXT TakeOver Toronto/WWE Survivor Series Weekend
What the hell is Rollins thinking? That's a bad look.

NXT TakeOver Toronto/WWE Survivor Series Weekend
That succession of Cesaro spots was quite impressive. Would love to see an extended program between Uso and Cesaro/Sheamus.

NXT TakeOver Toronto/WWE Survivor Series Weekend
It would be hard to top the Brooklyn match, but I think they did it. Crowd really into it by the end, some nice old school feel to the heat. Surprised and pleased they showed JR at ringside.

NXT TakeOver Toronto/WWE Survivor Series Weekend
The big dive off the scaffolding happened way too early in the match, kinda killed the crowd. And the chain was a massive disappointment, but what are you going to do?

NXT TakeOver Toronto/WWE Survivor Series Weekend
They could have emphasized more that he's been there before, shown some Last Battle of Atlanta clips and such. And on cue, there's the chain!

Huracan Castillo Jr. & Miguel Perez Jr. vs. Bart & Brad Batten (July 1989)
I was pretty much unimpressed by the babyface Battens, but this chickenshit, stalling version of the Battens is rather great. Not much more I can say than Elliott did but even though the finish was cheap, there was more than enough good stuff here for me to enjoy.

WWE TV - Election Week
Shane looks ridiculous with these sneakers. You're almost 50 man, get some loafers.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
FWIW, there was zero promotion that I saw in the area for the Arlington show. First I heard of it was seeing photos of the half-empty crowd on Twitter. Now granted, I wouldn't have gone even if I had known about it, but still.

WWE TV 10/31-11/6
Eh, the non-Heyman part of that segment was a lot of fun. However, I'm not watching something called a "trick or street fight". Kind of implies that the winners get to pimp out the losers on the streets of Hartford after the show.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Those guys got away with it, though. Dixie seems to be in the process of failing spectacularly at her carnie attempt.

Wrestlers and twitter
Twitter is not the place for nuance.

WWE TV Oct 17-23
Wreddit is usually garbage, but I found this there: From what I glean from twitter, he cut a good promo. But still.

WWN Live-Evolve, I-ppv's
Ethan Page and Timothy Thatcher had a long, boring match that included two ref bumps. Even that couldn't get the crowd or me to care. I've see Thatcher matches that I've liked but this wasn't one of them.

WWN Live-Evolve, I-ppv's
Evolve 70 is tonight. Been decent so far. Highlight was the opener, with Darby Allin going over Anthony Henry. Allin is going to end up in a wheelchair soon so we should enjoy him while he lasts - he did his trust fall/Nestea plunge dive off a springboard this time and Henry barely caught him. The other three matches were okay - even Fred Yehi can't make Chuck Taylor/Dustin interesting for me.

Invader I vs. Bruiser Brody (6/15/86)
I thought this was an incredible brawl. The work was really good but the atmosphere - at night, a hot crowd packed into Bithorn stadium - put it over the top for me.

WWE No Mercy
The announcers glossed over it, but watching the replay Chioda never calls for the bell after the tap, the timekeeper rings the bell too early. It was unnecessarily confusing.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
I hope and pray that he writes it, solely so we can see Meltzer's angry Observer feature correcting all the mistakes.

WWE TV 9/19 - 9/25
For all the bad (but predictable) stuff about the cruiserweights' presentation, they gave that match ~17 minutes, and a commercial break. That's about double what I figured.

Wrestling books that need sequels
It will be like Mark Twain's autobiography, kept under seal for 100 years after Bret's death.

Abdullah the Butcher vs. Andre the Giant (9/17/83)
Motivated Andre in his physical prime (towards the end of it, anyway) is so impressive to me it's hard for me to accurately assess a match - he's so quick and agile and gigantic I can't get past it. I'll probably end up ranking this fairly high even though there's not much here. Though I felt like Abby brought plenty to the table as well.
-
Los Pastores vs. Jay & Mark Youngblood (Spring 1985)
This was tons of fun. Sheepherders seem to be trying to break the stalling record before starting the match - that had to have gone at least 10 minutes of flag-saluting, running around, etc.

The WWE Global Cruiserweight show
Final was a fun match, not as good as the semis, but had its moments. Really happy for TJP (Jesus, his chest is all fucked up), and Metalik too. Not sure how New Japan didn't push him to the moon when they had him, but I think he can be big. Just a great, great series. Well done, WWE.
