And the announcers had somber voice coming back from the break. They're a little clueless sometimes.

Baseball-Wrestling Comps
Stan Hansen = Nolan Ryan I mean, obviously. Though Nolan wasn't quite as good as his hype, and Stan's work gets better with age.

RIP Dusty Rhodes
I never really knew the extent of the role Dusty had with the developmental crew in Florida until I read Summer Rae's tribute on Instagram. I figured it was just a part-time gig, coming in a couple times a week at most. But her, Kevin Owens', and Sami Zayn's show me that Dylan's right - he's irreplaceable.

[1992-07-12-UWFi-Ruling the World: Shizuoka Live] Kiyoshi Tamura & Kazuo Yamazaki vs Gary Albright & Mark Silver
I'm in the minority here but I really dig these shootstyle tags. Or maybe it's just that this one was incredibly well-designed, with Albright dominating in his first sequence, then sidelined as Yamazaki and Tamura destroy Silver, building to the definitive hot tag. And the no-interference rules were used well during the "FIP" sequence, with Yamazaki/Tamura jumping on Silver quickly after breaks and knockdowns, preventing him from getting to Albright.

[1992-06-13-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler and Ron Oakes feature
I thought this came off more as Memphis trying to bury Sting rather than trying to push Ron Oates as a Sting clone - even revealing Sting's & Warrior's real names.

Dave Meltzer stuff
It's probably important to note that this week Dave Meltzer, professional wrestling reporter, has been in a twitter war with Billy Corgan, who has sold 20+ million records. What a strange world this is.

Kane an Observer Hall of Famer????
Remember that old cliche that's something to the effect of, "showing up is half the battle"? Kane fits that to a T. I'm sure he's had his share of injuries, but I can't remember his quad blowing out, or him getting spinal fusion surgery and missing a year. He doesn't embarrass the company, and does any kind of stupid shit they write for him. Hell, even Punk was complimentary of him on Cabana's podcast (IIRC). There's plenty of skill to that, but it certainly doesn't qualify him for an Observer HOF spot. WWF HOF is probably a given, though.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Not to mention the irony of Dixie calling someone else a dummy.

NXT TakeOver Unstoppable... Live as it happens
Great show. I liked the tag titles match more than most, including the finish, though it would have worked better on a regular weekly show than a special. I do worry about some of those bumps Owens was taking - that half-and-half suplex right on his shoulder in particular.

WWE TV 5/18/15-5/24/15
Damn, that was a great segment. They need heels badly, but I didn't expect them to let Owens get over quite that much. And props to Cena - that's three top guys from NXT he's put over super strong.

Payback.. Live As it Happens
Loved Cesaro pouring someone from the front row's bottled water on Kidd after the (seriously nutty) belly-to-belly spot on the floor. He's great at the big spots, but he does the little things too.
-
Payback.. Live As it Happens
This looked like it was hardway, and the finish was pretty abrupt after that.

ESPN's Grantland
Bill Simmons is out at ESPN when his contract is up in September. With Michelle Beadle publicly disassociating herself from WWE, that's two big pro-wrestling voices gone from ESPN. If Grantland continues as it exists now, I'm sure Shoemaker's column will run, but I'd imagine this means much, much less mainstream ESPN WWE coverage.

Who has the trifecta as a HOF candidate?
That's amazing, and from the distance of 40 years it seems like an insane way of teaching an art form (or whatever the hell pro wrestling is). Even though it certainly worked in many cases, I do wonder how many potentially great performers this method turned away, or didn't allow to develop.

RIP Verne Gagne
I don't know if it's the one Matt D was talking about, but WWE aired a couple-minute Verne tribute on King of the Ring tonight, and even threw it back to the announcers and let Lawler bring up his 1988 AWA title win. It was very well-done, hopefully they show it on Smackdown and/or Raw.
