  1. Super fun show, I really liked the enthusiasm from both of the hosts and found myself laughing at quite a bit of stuff. I also feel like when I hear Matt in a more stream of consciousness type of situation it's easier for me to understand where he's coming from. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of these.
  2. I really wanna see that anon's ballot.
  3. Well it prevents you from suspending your disbelief in a way that Johnny Saint curling up into a ball and then his opponent rolling him around in a futile attempt to get both shoulder on the mat doesn't. But it's very difficult to argue that it's somehow worse than Kota Ibushi wrestling that blow up doll (although this was way funnier than anything Joey Ryan ever did) or the invisible grenade thing Chuck Taylor used to do.
  4. Really stoked to hear these shows, hopefully I haven't set my expectations too high
  5. This is the most interesting point about Joey Ryan in this discussion to me. While I would never consider Joey Ryan for a list like this, I think he basically sucks, I disagree pretty strongly with this post. First of all, is he fairly talented? I don't think he's ever really any good at all when he's not doing his shtick, whether its in TNA or in some of the more serious PWG stuff. He certainly never could've stood out in the indies with just his wrestling, which is probably why he does all the dumb stuff, to stand out, create a niche and make money wrestling. Then there's having no respect for the craft and shitting on wrestling. I don't understand how you can know that he doesn't respect wrestling just because he does comedy stuff that makes no logical sense and what does shitting on wrestling mean here? Is good wrestling somehow negatively affected by bad wrestling or wrestling that exposes the business? Because I totally disagree with that idea. Maybe you just meant it's somehow an insult to good wrestling to deliberately perform the way Ryan does, but I think that's silly too.
  6. The ones I'd cite automatically without even thinking would be: Arn and Ole vs. Rock n Rolls (Starrcade 86) Arn and Tully vs. Luger and Windham (Clash 1) Arn and Larry Z vs. Steamer and Dustin (Clash 17) Arn vs. Windham (TV match from 92) You don't have ANY of these even at four stars? I'm pretty sure I don't Arn and Ole vs. Rock n Rolls (Starrcade 86) not a particularly good match. Arn and Tully vs. Luger and Windham (Clash 1) really fun sprint, the best of these matches, can't remember how many stars maybe **** maybe ***3/4 i dunno. Arn and Larry Z vs. Steamer and Dustin (Clash 17) I remember I gave this ***1/2 because I had to check it a few months ago for some other thread when Matt D reacted me talking about Arn in a similar way. Arn vs. Windham (TV match from 92) I haven't seen this and I should've because I was meaning to when you put it in your 100 best matches ever I just kinda ended up forgetting about it. Just watched that Arn vs Windham TV match now, it was pretty damn good, I thought Paul E. was in incredible form on the outside and the second fall/Arn's heat section was really good. I had issues with it though, Arn was too goofy for my tastes and if he's the challenger shouldn't he be more of a credible threat not the guy pulling dumb scared faces, throwing wild punches that miss by 10 feet. The finish was pretty annoying too, Austin runs in and gets Arn DQ'd why? I get that Anderson was in trouble but it's just throwing away the match.
  7. Yeah there's no way to predict this, it'll probably be someone insane who nobody could've thought would be a no.1 contender, Stan Lane or Jinsei Shinzaki or something.

  9. You knew some people didn't have Arn, no reason why it shouldn't be me. Arn is good and clearly has a lot of talent but he so so rarely seems to actually use his cool bumping and stooging or his good (but kinda overrated) limbwork to actually generate matches I find highly compelling. I'd have to look again at my star rating database when I get off work but I don't think I've ever given and Arn singles or 2vs2 tag match 4 or more stars.
  10. In the last one Sayama finished at 68, right above Dory and right below Dandy. And seeing as I hadn't posted in this thread the people who I think are heavy hitters who didn't make my list are Hashimoto, Fujiwara and Arn Anderson, I guess maybe Tully Blanchard could count too.

I'm sure a bunch of people on that list are women. I'd have a hard time believing that out of 152 voters that there's only like 3 or 4 of us.
  12. Pretty happy somebody voted for Natsuki Taiyo. Also Bob Sapp got at least one vote which is incredible to me.

always hitting quote when I mean to hit edit. I'm a idiot

151 is an incredible number of ballots, super surprised that there was that many. Excited for the reveal of the results, and I kinda wanna know who the one person who didn't consider Mainstream US Wrestling was.
  15. 18 months and about 2,000 matches later I've submitted my balot. This was an incredible project I've loved it so much, watched more wrestling than at any time in my life while simultaneously almost completely losing track of what's happening in current wrestling. Couldn't put Natsuki*Taiyo on my list despite the fact that she's awesome and nobody will vote for her now. There were 121 nominees that I didn't get to at all, didn't watch any matches from since the start of this project, there's probably a few of them that were great and could've made my list but alas I only had 18 months
  16. Is asking where did you put Akira Hokuto so I can find out if I'm going higher or not bad manners?
  17. El McKell replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
If that's the match from the US that's on Youtube, it's really horrible.
  18. I'd disagree with that. No Mercy '08 against Jeff Hardy and both of the Shield vs Evolution matches.
  19. Someone in another thread said they put Kana/Asuka in their top 10 and if Lance Storm had been nominated he would've been top 20. Do you think you can out weird that?
  20. Haven't listened to all of this or even half of it, but it's great so far. And spoiler alert for my list Steven is not the high vote on CM Punk as he says he might be.
  21. How is Roddy Piper vs Mr. T from Wrestlemania 2 not in this bottom 60?
  22. I will watch whatever Necro in IGF stuff you think I should if you can provide me a way of watching Bob Sapp vs Necro Butcher This request was ignored, but it no longer matters because my stupid dreams to watch a shitty match have come true.
  23. Just watched that Hase-Chono match and I have no doubt that reading this thread killed my ability to enjoy it because i was thinking about what people said and what i thought of the match the whole time. Anyway, Hase's working over the neck section was kinda annoying because of how many times he just picks Chono up to hit another move I wish he would go for a cover once in a while, he doesn't go for a single pin during this section, he hits 4 neckbreakers, 2 stunners, a jawbreaker and a piledriver. Chono working over Hase's leg is far far more compelling, Hase does an awesome job selling and unlike Chono, he fights back, he looks for the armbar and rollup and also hits a random insane top rope northern lights suplex. Throwing away the kneepad made no sense but it was awesome, same goes for having his ankle bandage on outside of his boot. Hase waving photographers out of the way before they start rolling towards the ropes for the first figure-4 that ended up on the outside was dumb as fuck. Chono's breathing is headwrecking. Also my enjoyment of this match was hurt by the fact that my internet died with about 1 minute left and I had to watch the last minute about 2-3 minutes later. I can't give a star rating because it's impossible for me to compare a match where all I was thinking about this thread the whole time to the way I normally watch matches. I'll have to watch it again years from now when I've forgotten all about this to throw snowflakes on it.

This was exactly my point I think using the average score out of all ballots turned in not just ballots each wrestler appear on would be the best way it accounts for no only the wrestlers average ranking but also their overall standing with all voters sure it may be unfair to some wrestlers from underrepresented regions but, the voting in general isn't set up to protect for that as is because balloting isn't segregated into voting regions/blocks ala WON HOF voting. If you use average score of all ballots you will end up with a tie again. if both wrestlers got say 200 points and you divide that by the total number of ballots the tie will not be broken Yeah I'm saying to not use the weighted point system for the tie breaker so a #1 rank = 100 points and a #100 rank = 1 point and so on then a non-rank = 0 points then average based on all ballots Oh ok sorry my bad
