Brock Lesnar
That's why the relatively short Bryan match was a downright miracle. Although I remember really liking that match I didn't remember it being short at all. Looked it up it went 25:58 and was the longest match on the show.
-
Brock Lesnar
I think it's largely because they were worked like Triple H matches and not like Brock Lesnar matches. They were these 25 minute epics with all the extended selling between every move and Brock didn't work well in that environment at all and it made him look like he wasn't special due to the back and forth nature of the matches. It felt a lot like HHH was gonna work his normal main event match no matter what.
-
Brock Lesnar
He's making my list. He's had such an unbelievably great run these past 3 years and was pretty damn good in his first run too; I know he's not around much but I feel it's weird to punish a guy too much for not being on TV all time, negotiating a favorable deal for yourself doesn't mean you aren't a great wrestler. Also is the shittyness of the HHH matches an enormous indictment of Triple H's case for this project? That's just something I've been thinking about because I'm much higher on HHH than most people here, but when you compare Brock's work with HHH to Brock's work with literally everyone else it really makes HHH look terrible.

Ladder match vs Cage match
While I'm not gonna say ladder matches are the worst every time, the average cage match is much better that the average ladder match. And the WWE's clusterf**k ladder matches with 8 people only serve to hurt the case for ladder matches But the question is, which category does the Dixieland match go into?

Rey Mysterio Jr.
He was in an awesome tornado tag w/Alex Riley vs The Miz and Jack Swagger around that time, not sure if was before or after the Cena match though.

Why is Negro Casas nicknamed Cuatro Cuarenta or 4:40?

Match Ratings - Doing Away With the Meltzer * Formula
Nobody's right. I would say there's no objective good match, everybody is gonna think something different about a match and nobody is right or wrong If you take the view that the wrestlers were out there to work for that crowd, then the crowd is obviously right. If you take the bizarre view that you appreciate wrestling in a deeper way than that crowd does, then you could say you're right

Match Ratings - Doing Away With the Meltzer * Formula
I think you're making a flawed argument here because whether you liked something or not doesn't necessarily make it "better". I could tell you that I liked Plan 9 From Outer Space more than Citizen Kane and you could probably see where I was coming from even if you didn't agree with me, given that it's a matter of taste, but you'd probably still think I was an idiot if I gave Plan 9 a higher rating. I know Kane is better. You know Kane is better. I know why it's regarded as a groundbreaking masterpiece. Doesn't mean I don't get a bigger personal kick out of Ed Wood and his nonsense. I'm not sure I can agree with this kind of argument. It sounds a lot like you're giving something a higher rating based on reputation. What could possibly make it better if you enjoy it less? Imagine if Citizen Kane was identical except instead of being remembered as a classic it was almost completely forgotten and you watched it; would you be fine with giving it a lower rating than Plan 9 From Outer Space?

What are your favorite IWA-MS matches?
The CM Punk vs Chris Hero Ladder match from 2002 is pretty great

Match Ratings - Doing Away With the Meltzer * Formula
If your gonna be semantic about it at least get it right Cornette would tell you it's Norm Dooley's formula

Hamada's UWF
It has a cagematch page: http://www.cagematch.net/?id=8&nr=807 I seems to have started in 1990 and dissolved when Hamada went to Michinoku Pro in 1995. Kaz Hayashi, Men's Teioh, TAKA and Jinsei Shinzaki all wrestled there briefly before the Michinoku-Pro debut show/ Can't tell you why Hamada called it that, I'm not sure that a UWF existed in Japan when it was formed though. Why are there so many companies in wrestling history called UWF?

Nick Patrick: Spotlight Hog
Red shoes is literally the worst ref of all time, his over the top pouty serious face he pulls, reacting wildly to forearm exchanges, the hulk hogan style ear cupping to hear if a guy is giving up. He just wants to be the centre of attention when a ref should be avoiding that at all costs.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I legit turned off the show when Craig explained the contest idea, it was so stupid and a recipe for people sending in racist stuff. Seconded.

The Nomination Thread
It seems weird with all the world of sport guys nominated that nobody nominated Mick McManus.

Best Match - Unranked Wrestler
Niether of those matches would be what I'd call great they'd both be a little under four stars for me. Additionally, Big Show had a last man standing match against Del Rio on a smackdown a couple of years ago that was similar but better and the Bryan match was probably below average for a Daniel Bryan PPV singles match.
-
Best Match - Unranked Wrestler
Neither guy has a shot at my list but Kerry Von Erich would have to rank higher if I was doing a top 500 or something, Kerry has the big longevity advantage, in the great multi-man matches that they were both in, Roman feels less integral to them than Kerry and outside of the Brock match Roman has never looked great in a singles match.

It is out there somewhere I think I remember enjoying it when I listened to it a couple of years ago. But Herd basically says everything bad that happened wasn't him

Misawa vs. Kawada vs. Kobashi vs. Taue - Comparing the Four Corners
Kobashi Kawada Misawa Taue But 6 months ago i would've put Misawa ahead of Kawada so we'll see if/how this changes again before March 2016
