Bruno Sammartino, 1935-2018
Bruno was before my time and I remember first hearing his name on AWA when Larry Zybysco would do promos and would talk about beating Legendary champions like Nick Bockwienkel and Samartino. I would really like to hear from Larry right now on his thoughts. Last thing I want to say: Bruno was a real stand up guy. Family man. And always stuck to his guns. I really enjoyed the Bruno package on the network. Savage bumping for him was awesome.

Greetings From Allentown podcast
Great show! Along with BTS and PTBN you are quickly becoming one of my favorite podcasts. Early 90s WCW gets allot of criticism, but it's still one of the best eras to relive! I noticed something crazy...everywhere Ventura was working, is where the most over and entertaining product was! How much credit should Jesse get? As soon as Jesse left WWF, the WWF product turned to shit. Every Ventura Wrestle Mania was great.

Jeff Learns Wrestling
Thanks guys for the great show! This rumble was one of my earliest wrestling memories. I was pre-school age and my aunt was my babysitter and her oldest son(my cousin), was way older than me and he had VHS of this 88 Rumble, The Main Event (Hogan/Giant), and a Genuine DOUBLE-VHS of WrestleMania 4! Anyway I remember that stupid fan in the Rude vs. Steamboat match. Regardless of the mega phone fan, I LOVE THAT OPENING MATCH.

Was the 2 cold scorpio video made in Milwaukee? Awesome show. I love this era of WCW

Place to Be Podcast Thread
Why does Honky Tonk get so much hate? I understand from kayfabe world you can hate the heels. But 30 years later you can't hate his WWF run. He was entertaining and had Iron Sheik heat. His in ring work is underrated as well. A lot of stalling in Savage HTM matches but the marks are eating every second of it! I have similar opinion on Beefcake. He was over, period. If you were born in the 80s then you were probably a fan. Okay thanks for the great shows. I look forward to every episode!

Between the Sheets #127 (December 20-26, 1987) (Featuring Brad Stutts)
There was no Barney in 87. But we did have USA EXPRESS EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER ALL AMERICAN WRESTLING ON SUNDAY MORNING. Falcon and Dog Wonder. This is years before Cartoon network. We also had MASK. Classic Hanna-Barbera reruns like the Harry Bear Bunch. Anyway thanks for all of the classic BTS episodes. December 23rd was my birthday and I was busy during these cold weeks but I appreciate every episode during those classic years. I'll call it the "pre-internet years."

Who is the worst booker ever?
... (continued) I've heard Russo over the past few years and he isn't an evil person. But he doesn't belong behind the booking desk. Russo is too much of a "mark" and plays too many games.

Who is the worst booker ever?
That greasy rat Vin Russo was bad in terms of national hot-shotting. Just a glimpse of Miss Elizabeth on TV or WWF Magazine in the late 80s would exite me for weeks. Russo in the late 90s just gave in to every male weakness from ultra violence to porn to grotesque story lines. It's not about you Russo! This is a business! Just look at how orgasmic he was when he snatched the big gold belt. Can u imagine Roger Goodell dancing around drunk with Super Bowl Lombardi trophy? Even thieves like Boxings Don King had limits to his ego. Iv

Bobby Heenan RIP
They don't make them like Bobby Heenan anymore. So talented that if he had connections and so desired, he could have been a success in entertainment. I mean really just think about it. Who would out shine him. Imagine if he was on Saturday Night Live! He would be a great side kick to any Late Night Star. Bobby was a stand-up guy in every way. Always was true to his word. When everyone in AWA chased the money in New York, Bobby stayed to finish up the dates he was booked. Bobby was so creative and knew how to get the audience eating out of his hand. Bobby's talent should have been used to develop new ideas when his neck issues took him off the road.Atlanta gave him great offer and Vince should have been thankful for everything Bobby did for the company. God Bless the Heenan family.

Do you guys notice the influence of Hulkamainia on the other promotions? With the "American Made" references in the promos and the Rock not Roll references.

Between the Sheets #111 (August 30-September 5, 1992)
I enjoyed the audio to the TBS Wrestling Gala! I remember watching that like it was yesterday. I was so excited to see Andre on TBS, but also very sad to see his condition. At 9 and a half years old, I didn't recognize Barnett or Herd. I need to go re-watch the video. Bruno had his agenda, he should have helped Verne Gagne with their bland wrestling dreams. But of course by 92 there really was no AWA.

Between the Sheets #111 (August 30-September 5, 1992)
Now that the Packers won their first game, I can relax and give my appreciation to Killer Kris and Bad News Bix. It's not the first time I thanked you for choosing these mystical years. '84 - 1994 Thanks again and have you ever thought of reviewing the audio of that St. Louis promoters associate. You probably mentioned something during Vince takeover. It's either St. Louis or Kansas City.

Between the Sheets #95 (May 10-16, 1992) (Featuring Steven Prazak)
Personally I liked the Papa Shango warrior feud. The thing that pissed me off as a kid was when warrior would disappear. When warrior's music hit at end of Wrestlemania 8 you have to admit that it was one of the most exciting moments ever. Warrior was gone for long time and returns looking awesome. If he stayed for mania 9. He should have done the job for Sid Justice. But sid was gone also. Sid should have been the next top guy in WWF at the time.

Guess Who?
Yes it is the Model and half Strike Forcer Rick Martel. I guess his looks haven't changed too much. But I remember when I first found out Razor Ramon was Big Scott Hall from AWA and that was pretty shocking. Red neck cowboy turns into Cuban cocaine cowboy.

WWE Unreleased: 1986-1995
There is a Hogan Rude match where they start arm wrestling. I wonder if there are any Rude vs Bret matches?

Guess Who?
Who do you think this pretty boy is? Clue: Not in WWE HOF

Between the Sheets #88 (March 22-28, 1991)
WWF really ruined allot of talent when they wrestled under WWF. SID Justice was fine. But I hated the Beverly Bros. Gimmick. I get it they were going for a classic Hollywood blondes flamboyancy. But they were so bad ass in AWA as Destruction Crew. They are underrated. El Giante was at least over in WCW. Then he shows up with a hairy ass in WWF. Might as well call Flair,Spartacus. Anyway your podcast is the best and the original sheets pod besides WTBBP but Parv is busy working out at WCW Powerplant.

Ric Flair: The most overrated wrestler of all time
Smarks put too much weight on his in ring capabilities. Flair was able to achieve greatness because he was reliable. And he was a great promoter. Yes now his matches seem to be not so great. But you have to imagine how great he was when he was great. For instance his robe. Now it might not even mean anything, but in 1983 he would be in awe of the whole package. Allot of matches look so sloppy from 2017 eyes. But back then they "believed" even if they still thought it might be a work. I think Flair should be judged on matches that he knew were going to be seen by millions of fans, like the clash shows. The Funk feud was amazing. But again he was doing a job and like most of us know some people don't always give 100%. But when the boss is watching or you need a raise the work improves. Ok sorry for blabbing on and on. Same with Hogan in the late 80s. He was rarely in a match on TV. His TV promos were usually a 10/10. Most people considered Hogan #1 and wished to see him and Flair. But in 2017 eyes you see how limited Hogan was. I mean if you followed the WWF from house show to show you could have seen Hogan more. But in my area Hogan came 2 or 3 times at most per year. I would be lucky to see him once.

Between the Sheets #80 (January 25-31, 1992)
Yeah I remember that press conference like yesterday. I was in 4th grade. Anyway from memory I remember Undertaker, Piper, Savage, Hogan, and Sid. Then Sid wants to rip thick book. Flair Perfect in back Anyway thank you both for this show. You don't know how much of a relief it is to turn off the stupid TV, and turn on my Bluetooth speaker to listen to this show. And thank you for not mentioning that ignorant cock sucking piece of shit pedophile, TRUMP. That's what I love about these classic pods, the escape from all the bull shit in this world, mostly Drumph.

Thanks! I'm gonna look for that show on YouTube!

Jimmy Snuka's murder charge dismissed
He was a definitely over in 89 -90 when i was huge fan. Not just about work, his kneeling down on 1 knee and the wooh wooh wooh! His entrance music was great. His physique looked great on TV. When Honky hit him on Brother Love Show with the guitar. Unfortunately as a kid you never know why certain wrestlers are not being pushed anymore. But as a draw he has to be up there in every promotion he was a part of. GOD bless the Superfly, "bradah!"

Between the Sheets #78 (January 11-17, 1989)
Thanks again for doing my childhood years. Anyway the game you were talking about on NES, Wrestlemania came out January 89. I had it and yes it did suck. But for some reason everybody wanted to borrow it. The second one came out in 1990 and I loved it. I remember there was a Video Game TV show on before school started and they had tournaments of this game. Does anyone know the name of this show? I order on Amazon allot and do it on my smart phone. How can I contribute to the cause? Is there a link or mobile code? Great show, very interesting about Jon Studd. I remember him being a Battle Royal specialist. Meltzer does really shit on WWF but I guess at his age it must have been like watching a kids show. Kind of like watching current WWE.

Between the Sheets #75 (December 21-27, 1992)
Between the Sheets #75: December 21-27, 1992 My uncle recorded that Regis episode for me when I little. And Summerslam. (He was excited to use his new VCR at the time) Anyway I absolutely love that segment where he teases Kathy Lee. It was all innocent fun until she started talking shit in her book. I believe she also was disgusted with the Bushwackers. Bix you described that "chase scene" exactly right. Fuck her. Regis was so happy. I love when Regis does the Rude gyrations! Bobby was great as usual. Rude was the best at promoting events. And Kris are you serious saying Frank Gifford would be a threat to Rude. That's like saying Jimmy Hart is a threat to Haku! WCW: Flair had interesting time in his WWF 1st run but no matter if it was good or bad, just taking a detour in New York elevates your status and fame tremendously. After the Brain Busters finished up in WWF Arn Anderson said he was way more famous. Even already popular guys like Dusty were even more over once they went back to WCW. 123 kid was a joke to me but when he showed up in WCW he became way more interesting! As a kid I was so excited to see stars from other promotions in another company. Thanks
