[1990-07-28-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Interview: Hulk Hogan
This was great as a kid. It was a moment where Hogan seemed like a real life hero that you could really believe in. Wrestling seemed more fun to me as a child, as I really was worried Hogan might lose or get hurt, and really wanted to see him win. I don't tend to feel those same kind of emotions watching wrestling as an adult except for maybe a few exceptions which are few and far between, and that makes wrestling over all a little less enjoyable for me. The promo itself is the best part of this. The angle at the end with Bravo, Earthquake, and Tugboat coming is a little disappointing as there is no actual violence shown here. I hope WWE uploads more episodes of Prime Time going into the summer of 1990, as it would be fun I think to see the week to week promos of Tugboat and Jimmy Hart discussing Hogan's injury and comeback leading into Summerslam.

WWE Network... It's Here
Thats interesting. I thought WWF only went to MSG once a month but they went twice in march that year. Did they skip the MSG show in Feb or April that year I wonder.

WWE TV 08/27 - 09/02 *insert topical subject here*
I was hoping Almas would get the US title so that whenever Gargano got called up to the main roster, he and Almas could have a rematch. Edit: And it be for a belt.

It will be interesting to see if you guys find the regular week to week tv better outside of the Freebirds after the Star Wars episodes.

WWE TV 7/30-8/5
Watching a couple of the segments last night really made the Raw locker room look a former NXT Tag Team Champion graveyard. With Authors of Pain, The Revival, and The Ascension, it looks like its where formerly pushed tag teams go to die. I am reminded of Jim Cornette's podcasts where he talked about in the OVW days he would come up with gimmicks for the guys and the main roster writers wouldn't use them. It seems like something similar is going on now where the NXT creative really push these tag teams going to the main roster, and when they get there the main writers are like "Huh? We don't want a dominant tag team or to use these guys like this." And then find a spot for them wrestling on Main Event or doing comedy spots and jobs on Raw.

Born in the 1990s
Aren't Pete Dunne and Tyler Bates both really young? Maybe in the 2020's we will see all the top wrestlers in the world come from Europe/UK.

Coliseum Video/WWF Home Video on the Network
Wow. Now I am scared to reorder the Network, because there is so much of my childhood was the fun of renting Coliseum videos from the local video store. I am worried I will become sucked into a vortex of watching old wrestling and will disappear from society for weeks at a time. This is great and they haven't even added the Hulkamania series yet. Did JCP or any of the territories release commercial VHS tapes with exclusive matches on them that weren't just what was shown on TV?

WWE Hidden Gems
I really wish they would just upload some full episodes of Georgia. I assume they have them.

The mist
I like to pretend that when Triple H is spraying water, he is actually spraying a secret clear mist that gives him special powers.

WWE Extreme Rules 2018
Almost all the matches had the heel win. Some of the matches, like Lashley vs Roman, it wasn't clear who the face and heel was supposed to be. Rusev is supposed to be a heel but is cheered by a very vocal section of the crowd so it is not as happy a moment when AJ beats him. There has been like 2 steel cage matches this year where the face lost in a way that makes him look like an idiot for losing so the fans don't feel they can get behind them (Roman and Brock in Saudi Arabia is the other one). WWE has seemed to have been the hottest when they had a strong Babyface who refused to take crap from the heels and would just beat people up. I feel like Bruno, Hogan, and Austin all kind of had this in common. The heels would try to screw the face around, but the fans always knew in the end that the Mega Face would punish the opponent and show them who's boss. This is what Roman Reigns should have been, but they really screwed it up. They gave him cute catchphrases, they had Seth Rollins go over in that big Wrestlemania match with Brock, and they booked him against heels nobody really wanted to see him fight instead of building up opponents that the fans would really hate and want to see get beaten up. I kind of think Ronda Rousey may actually end up being that kind of star for them. I hope if they fans really get behind her they would be willing to make her matches the true main events of those cards. I also hope they don't derail her booking by thinking she has to "pay her dues" or whatever by losing a lot, or giving her weird character traits beyond just being an ass kicker.

World Cast: A WCCW Review
Good episode. I think if they are cutting out adverts for upcoming house shows, I wish they would keep those in to help give a sense of what was going on in the company at the time and what sorts of matches were they expecting to draw in the local markets. I am pretty sure that in the 80's Crocket stuff they cut out the parts where Tony Schiavone runs down the dates and locations for all the upcoming house shows and what stars or matches were being promoted for those shows as I am sure I remember seeing that when I watched those Crockett TV shows before. You know, the Saito-Inoki Island Death Match might be a good unofficial Mystery Titans Theater episode. Its a bit of a slog to expect people to sit through on their own right now due to it's length and long periods of little to no action, but if we could hear you guys talk about the match and about Inoki and Saito in general, it may make it more worthwhile to sit through. That one may need to go on Daily Motion or be audio only though as I believe New Japan are big on taking stuff down off Youtube.

[2004-11-21-NJPW] Genichiro Tenryu & Minoru Suzuki & Kensuke Sasaki vs Masahiro Chono & Manabu Nakanishi & Jushin Liger
Yeah I enjoyed the chop battle. I liked Liger's desperation during the finish portion as well. It's like he realized he had to try to end it now if his team was going to have any chance of winning.

World Cast: A WCCW Review
I wonder if the duck hunting stuff would fly better today with all the "Duck Dynasty" fans around. I enjoyed all the stuff with the midgets this week. I wonder if WWE's next big Network event could be a big midget wrestling tournament.

How Matches are Rated
Having it go to 10 instead of 5, and having the decimal places instead of quarters should help differentiate comparing different matches. Not all 4 and a Quarter Star matches are created equal for example, so this should help in those situations where usually you may say "This match is better than this match but not good enough to deserve another quarter star rating." It should also help as you mentioned to keep from jumping to ridiculous ratings like 6 out of 5 stars for example.

WWE NXT UK announced
The video on WWE's YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zHo8HVIers is I believe the qualifying rounds of the tournament taped at the Download Festival a week ago? Anyway, I am not sure why this isn't uploaded on the network, or if it is on there I didn't see it.

WWE TV 06/18 - 06/24 FIFA World Cup
Why did they bring Ellsworth back? Did he do something while he was back in the indies that impressed them?

WWE Super Show-Down
Is Shawn Michaels going to wrestle? Why is he on the list? Also, interesting to see Brock Lesnar isn't listed. I thought he just got a new contract? Or was that only temporary until Summer Slam? You think they would have been already planning this event when they were working on his contract. You know he was a draw before he had the title, so he can still wrestle without it I would think.

Comic books and Manga Thread
I recently discovered Neal Adams Green Arrow, specifically the Brave and the Bold issue where the redesigned Green Arrow first appeared, and I thought it was amazing. I had been reading the 60's Green Arrow stories up to that point and they were all kind of lame, kind of like the 60's Batman show but not trying to be funny, and contrasted to that, Neal Adams artwork just kind of revolutionizes the character. I've got my eyes peeled now for any deals on old Neal Adams stuff. If Imaginary Stories the podcast Kelly and Johnny did ever comes back, I would suggest maybe a Neal Adams episode. It doesn't even need to be a long comprehensive episode like the ones you guys usually did. Even if you just had a shorter episode where you reviewed a few key issues of different Neal Adams books, I think that would be amazing. I also read some 70's Tomb of Dracula recently, and didn't realize Blade was such a minor character (at least in the first 24 issues that I read) or that 70's Dracula was so cool.
