  3. Damn! There's no way I would miss that 8 man tag match!
  4. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 12-2-87 Lance Russell: Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight you'll see Polynesian Power take on the Teamsters. Mando Guerrero clashes with Gama Singh. TV champ Nick Busick teams with DJ Peterson and Al Perez to take on Billy Jack Strong, Earthquake Ferris and Larry Zbyszko. Plus, Austin Idol, Dream Machine, Jerry Blackwell. And we'll be hearing from Jerry Lawler as well as AWA world champion Bad News Brown. Well, let's get to the ring. "The Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol vs. The Masked Gladiator Idol arrogantly toys with the masked man, then pounds away on him and hurls him out of the ring. Idol starts strutting around and flexing. On the outside, another masked man comes out from under the ring and slides into the ring. Idol walks over to pick the masked man up. The masked man quickly cradles him 1..2..3!! The fans go wild. A livid Idol hops up and goes after the masked man but gets back dropped. Idol staggers up and gets dropkicked out of the ring. The masked man soaks it all in, then takes off his mask. It's STEVE KEIRN! The fans are loving it. Idol is red faced and pissed as Keirn smiles and waves to him. Commercial Break Phil Hickerson w/Norvell Austin vs. Arnie Goldstein Hickerson demolishes his opponent and finishes things off with a Gourdbuster. Norvell snatches the mic from Resnick. Norvell: Phil has something to say, so take a walk Resnick! Phil: Glamour Gals! You've been a pain in my life far too long! And then that Punkski got involved. At SuperClash, me and the Midnight Express are going to put an end to all of you once and for all! Elimination match. That means we're going to take each one of you down, one by one! You're all done! All of you! Finally! Done! Commercial Break The Dream Machine vs. Trent Watkins Dream Machine does a little shuffle as he punches away on Watkins. Dream slams him down, swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop for the win. Resnick: Dream Machine, you have your hands full at SuperClash 2 with Nikita Koloff. Are you regretting all this? Dream: (pokes Resnick's chest) Watch your mouth! Why would I be regretting any of this? I'm not scared of anything, especially a no good red like Koloff! He needs to know who's boss around here babay, and at SuperClash, he's going to find out the hard way. Commercial Break Mando Guerrero vs. Gama Singh Gama stands in the ring as Mando makes his way down the aisle. From behind, Mando is attacked by Bruce Hart. Mando fights back. The two keeping fighting up the aisle and into the back. Gama demands the Ref declares him the winner. Gama starts yelling at the Ref. The fans go nuts as EL CANEK sprints into the ring with a lead pipe! Gama turns around as Canek levels him with the pipe! Gama is knocked out. Canek presses a lifeless Gama over his head and throws him to the outside. Gama is lying motionless on the concrete. Medics rush out to attend to him. Canek looks in the camera and holds up one finger, then motions around his waist. Mike George and Greg Gagne must be freaking out right now. Commercial Break Resnick: My goodness! El Canek is back with a vengeance! Gama Singh has been stretchered out of here. If you remember, back at Collision at the Coliseum in September, Gama Singh hit El Canek with a lead pipe to help Mike George win the International title. It looks like El Canek is back with revenge on his mind. No doubt a strong message sent to champ Mike George and Greg Gagne as SuperClash gets closer. Speaking of SuperClash, another grudge match will pit Carlos Colon against the son of Curtis Iaukea, Abudda. Let's go to the homeland of Carlos Colon. Colon is wearing an eye patch as he lifts weights. Colon stops and towels off. Colon: Curtis! Abudda! I hope you're watching. You put me down but I'm not out. At SuperClash, I'm fighting for redemption, I'm fighting for revenge and I'm fighting for my soul. Most of all, I'm fighting to rid the AWA of the evil you're spreading. Commercial Break Polynesian Power vs. The Teamsters Both teams are gearing up for the upcoming Clash Countdown Tag Team Battle Royal. Teamsters come out swinging and take it to Polynesian Power. They look crisp, aggressive and show off impressive teamwork. They almost put Snuka down with a double gut buster. Polynesian Power come back hard as Kokina mows over both Teamsters and looks like a beast. Kokina hits a Samoan Drop on Veasey and tags in Snuka. Snuka goes to the top rope. Huber runs over but Kokina clotheslines him down. Snuka hits the Superfly Splash and it's all over. Polynesian Power have some serious momentum heading into the battle royal. Commercial Break Brenda Britton is once again standing in front of a gym door. Carl Fergie and George Wells walk out in sweatsuits to join her. Britton: As you can see, I'm standing here with the Priceless alumni, who have taken a break to give us another update on the soon to be millionaire again, Gerry Morrow. How's he looking guys? Wells: Better than ever Brenda. That Fatwell should just forfeit right now. He has no idea what he's in for. Fergie: Yea, Gerry's going to wrestle circles around Fatso. Just give it up Fatwell. You can't hang. Britton: I know! Jeez, I mean what would that Fat Hillbilly do with a million dollars? Get a shave and haircut? They all laugh Britton: Before you guys go, I want to make this earth shattering announcement. In 2 weeks the Beauty Shop will return, and my very, very, very special guest will be none other than Gerry Morrow! And he's going to show all of you peons that he's more than prepared for SuperClash. Alright guys, let's get back to Gerry. Wells and Fergie walk in as Brenda follows and quickly slams the door behind her. Commercial Break Crusher Blackwell vs. Todd Rooney The "Future Millionaire" chants are louder than ever as Blackwell hits the big splash for the win. Resnick: (Smiling) Listening to these fans, they really want to see you win the million dollar match at SuperClash. Now, I know you've seen and heard the comments from Brenda Britton and the Priceless alumni. Blackwell: First I want to thank all these great fans for their tremendous support. I assure all of you I'm going to win that money. A million dollars Ken! Unbelievable! Now, as for Britton and the goons, there is no way in hell they're going to stand in my way of a million dollars. Not with these fans on my side. Morrow! You were once a millionaire and who knows, you might be one again, but it won't be at SuperClash! You can bet on that! Commercial Break 'Shout It Out loud' by Kiss plays as a montage of Bruise Brothers and Road Warriors highlights are shown. Awesome hype with both teams destroying opponents. AWA World Tag Team Title Bout! AWA World Champions vs. WCPW Champions at SuperClash 2! Commercial Break AWA TV Champ Nick Busick, "Dynamite" DJ Peterson and "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez vs. Billy Jack Strong, Earthquake Ferris and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko w/The Vin Man This one's hard hitting and full of hate. Busick and Strong have several heated exchanges. DJ and Ferris trade mighty blows. Larry tries to avoid Perez as much as he can but eventually Perez gets his hands on him and pounds away on his head. Eventually everybody is in there fighting. Busick and Strong once again, end up fighting all over on the outside. As DJ gets the upper hand on Ferris, Vinnie hops on the apron, but DJ grabs him, hoists him up and throws him into Ferris. The Ref is distracted by all this which allows Larry to get his nun chucks. Larry starts to get on the apron. Perez grabs him by his hair, but Larry nails him with the nun chucks in his mid section. Larry gets in the ring and rolls Perez up as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! BOOOOOOOO! Commercial Break Jerry Lawler is standing in front of a SuperClash 2 banner. Lawler: Bad News Brown, I thought you had guts but I was wrong. You attacked me last week from behind like the coward you really are. Even so, I realized something. You're not so bad. You're not so tough. And if that's all you got, then you're in serious trouble. At SuperClash, we're going to fight face to face and when it's all over, I'm going to be standing over you, holding up the AWA world title! Resnick: Ok, strong words from Jerry Lawler. Joining me now is the AWA world champion, Bad News Brown. At SuperClash 2, it's you and Lawler for the world title in a Street Fight Match. I do think your attack on Lawler last week was completely uncalled for. Brown: I don't care what you think! A wimp like you or Queen Lawler wouldn't understand. I did what I did last week to prove a point. In a street fight there are no rules! Anything goes! I grew up fighting in the streets of Harlem. You hear that Lawler! I've been street fighting all my life. At SuperClash 2, we're in my world and you don't have a prayer chump! Saturday December 31st From the St. Paul Civic Center Live on pay per view See previous post for official SuperClash 2 card.
  5. Loved that Bigelow/Race post match confrontation. it really makes the title a huge deal. I agree with AD, you're doing a great and very entertaining job getting Mark Madness over. After what Savage did to Lanny, I wonder if Lanny will even show up to the Lights Out match. Kenosha Knock Out is stacked. It's going to be a brutal night. I'm looking forward to the Road Warriors/RnR title bout.
  6. Starrcade! YES! Ray Charles gets the night going. We get a big surprise right off the bat as AOD shows up and helps Zodiac and Jason get the 6 man titles back. Jeez, who can stop these monsters? I have to give Adias and the Grapplers props on a nice run. Boyd has some serious back up with the heat magnet Debeers. However, Haystacks has a solid friend in Smiley. The Commonwealth feud has some good buzz going. I'm sure the fans loved seeing Slick's interference backfire. S&S retain as their strong reign continues. The New Breed/Spartanburg feud was very well built up and what a blow off! After winning a high profile Dog Collar match, the New Breed are the team to watch in 88. A lot of heat in the 3 way match. Commonwealth survive and I'm sure are ready for anybody. The Hansen/Brody match ended exactly how you would expect with wild and crazy double c.o. Watching them brawl is well worth the price of admission. I'm so glad we got to see the battle of the Nature Boys at the grandest stage. These guys delivered and gave the fans an epic main event. Landell found out why Flair is the dirtiest player in the game. It's a lot of fun watching Flair battling all the heel challengers. Looking forward to his reign in 88. You showed why Starrcade is the NWA's premier event. Great job!
  7. Some good heat put on Madness as he opens up the show with a brutal beating on the king of the openers, Koko B. Ware. Wild Bill's the star as he gets his team the satisfying win. Spivey looks like an absolute beast by power bombing Barbarian. Jimmy Jam gets the best heel heat. I've loved the push Casey is getting in WCPW but this win over Kamala puts him on another level. Reed vs. Steamboat is awesome booking. After that finish I hope we get a lot more. 4 top teams going at it. Gotta love it! The fans get a taste of a Road Warriors/RnR dream match. Rockers get nuclear heat by ruining it. Speaking of nuclear heat, Lanny gets just that! This feud is money! Can't wait for their next encounter. The question is who will survive? After a long and rough road, Bigelow finally does it and takes the title from Race. What a glorious moment. Bigelow can take Windy City to new levels. Also, it was nice seeing Race get one last run at the top.
  8. Moretti and Singh tear it up in a hot opener. Moretti powerslamming Singh is one awesome visual. I love how you mix it up and throw in heel vs. heel and babyface vs. babyface matches. Keeps things fresh. Nellie looked pretty good but Richter is in a league of her own. I never get tired of Richter vs. Moretti. Bring it on again!
  9. WOW! Times are changing in Pacific! Let's get started. I can see Cuban Assassin playing the enforcer role well. Talk about a game changer. We now have the Undertaker!!! RIP Texas Red. Loving the resurgence of Billy Jack. The Army says goodbye to old friends but bring in new soldiers. Flowers has serious momentum going into 88. Simmons and Warrior made their marks in Pacific, especially Simmons. Did I notice some slight friction between Hennig and Windham? I'll be keeping an eye on that. Wild Things are proven contenders but British Steel are in the zone right now. Vancouver Morton gets a confidence win over Hito. My man St. Clair is Undertaker's first victim. Texas Red was a proven commodity but this win proves that Taker is going to be something special. Severn finally puts a stamp on Akiro and one of my favorite feuds. No better way to go out then going down to Eaton. I think Pacific made history with a 4 corners brothers match. Harts take it and the Guerreros leave on a classy note. On a funny sidenote, I have Mando Guerrero feuding with Bruce Hart over in the AWA. Hennig is going to have an incredible reign. Kelowna Double J did what he set out to do in Pacific. Let's see what's next for him. Furnas shows he's a tough soldier by taking down that crazy Cactus Jack. We'll see some Army/Diamond Exchange battles in 88. I would say Snow is done with the Knights. However, he better get in good with some friends. Pillman gets a big win over another champ in Brookside. Windham doesn't go home with the title but I'm sure has earned a rematch with Mr. Backlund. 1988 feels like the dawning of a new era. Look at all the fresh changes going on in Pacific. I know you've inspired the AWA to up its game.

  11. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 11-25-87 Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight you'll see Nikita Koloff in action. DJ Peterson takes on Earthquake Ferris. National Tag Champs The Technicians will be here as well as AWA International champ Mike George. After what went down last week, Baby Doll's newest client Chris Adams debuts. We'll hear from Jerry Lawler regarding his big street fight world title match with Bad News Brown at SuperClash 2. And tonight's main event will be a big one as the Original Midnight Express take on current rivals the Glamour Boys. And Jerry Jarrett will have some earth shattering news regarding SuperClash 2. Ok, let's get to the ring. Nikita Koloff vs. Rance Jones It didn't take long but Nikita has won over the AWA fans. The fans are up and cheering as Nikita puts Jones down with the Russian Sickle. Resnick: Nikita, you have really made an impact here. It seems Dream Machine has taken a disliking to you and at SuperClash 2, you two will meet in the ring. Nikita: Nikita come to AWA with no problems with anyone. Dream Machine cause problems for Nikita. At SuperClash, Nikita deal with problem! Nikita ends the segment with a trap pose. Commercial Break The Quebec Coalition w/Frenchy Martin vs. Todd Rooney and Ray Glader Charland hits an inverted piledriver and Lefon follows with a senton for the win. Resnick: Ok Frenchy, the night before SuperClash at the Clash Countdown, your men will be in the tag team battle royal with the winners each getting a new Cadillac as well as a shot at the National tag titles the next night at SuperClash. I have to ask, have you and your men rebounded from that shocking loss to Jerry Lawler and Nikita Koloff a few weeks ago? Frenchy: Stop right there! We were blind sighted and tricked by everybody in de AWA who has conspired against us. However, we are passed that. My Quebec Coalition will win de battle royal and regain our National Titles. Just like dat! Commercial Break Highlights of a Jumbo Tsuruta/Tatsumi Fujinami SuperClash 2 press conference from Japan are shown. Both men are wearing suits and pose for photo shots. "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko vs. Harold Baines Zbyszko as always, does his best to rile up the fans and as always succeeds. Zbyszko hits the swinging neckbreaker for the win. Zbyszko irritates the fans more with an arrogant nun chucks display. Resnick: Larry, it's you and Al Perez in a taped fist match at SuperClash. You heard the reasons why Al gave up his shot at the International title. He's so angry that I'm certain those nun chucks of yours won't be able to help. Zbyszko: Young Alvin is full of spunk but in reality he's a very naive individual. He gave up a golden opportunity just to fight me. Big mistake. Young Alvin's emotions will be his downfall. I'm a superior wrestler, a martial arts expert and simply a smarter man. At SuperClash, that spudhead will walk into Larry Land and trust me, he won't be able to handle it. Commercial Break "Dynamite" DJ Peterson vs. Earthquake Ferris w/The Vin Man These two have had some hard hitting matches and it continues tonight as they pound away on each other with blunt force. Nothing pretty, just a solid hoss fight. After a few minutes of this, DJ gets things going his way and puts Ferris down with a huge jumping back elbow smash. DJ goes to the top rope and gets set, but Vinnie hops on the apron and pushes DJ off! The Ref signals for the DQ. Vinnie and Ferris put the boots to DJ, then pick him up and double slam him down. Ferris swings off the ropes and hits a big splash! Ferris puts his boot on DJ's chest as Vinnie holds up Ferris's hand while the fans boo. Commercial Break AWA International Champ "Marvelous" Mike George w/Greg Gagne vs. Warren Coolidge George wins the match with a Russian Leg Sweep. Gagne runs in and hands him his title. George kisses it and holds it high. Resnick: Greg, as you know Al Perez forfeited his International title shot at SuperClash. However... Gagne: Stop talking Resnerd! Zbyszko's right, Al Perez is an idiot. But hey, what that means is myself and the champ will have a well deserved New Year's Eve night off. Jerry Jarrett walks out. Gagne: Well, well, well, if it isn't the imposter President of the AWA. What brings you out Mr. so called President? Jarrett: Well Greg, I thought this would be the perfect time to announce who Mike George will be defending his International title against at SuperClash 2. George: Whoa wait a minute big guy. That dope Perez forfeited his chance. Which means I win and Greg and myself have the night off. Gagne: He's exactly right Einstein. And that's a fact Jack! Jarrett: Well, no it isn't. The title will be defended and it will be against the former champ himself, El Canek! Good luck gentlemen. Huge Pop! Jarrett calmly exits as Gagne and George throw a fit. Gagne: He can't do that! It's not right! My dad would have never done something as unfair as that! Resnick smiles as he cuts to a commercial. Commercial Break Abbuda Iaukea w/Curtis Iaukea vs. Lawence Tate Abbuda is a terror and finally finishes Tate off with the Camel Clutch. Abbuda holds up Tate as Curtis puts him down with a kendo stick shot. Both Iaukea's hold Tate up by his hair, look in the camera and yell Colon's name over and over again while slapping Tate. Commercial Break AWA National Tag Champs The Technicians vs. Wilford Kennedy and Neil Jordan Rheingans hits a gut wrench suplex and tags in Fleming, who finishes things off with the rear naked chokehold. Technicians cut a promo and say they don't care who wins the tag battle royal because whoever it is, they'll be ready for them at SuperClash! Commercial Break "Gentleman" Chris Adams w/Baby Doll vs. Stu Jersky Adams and Baby Doll get some big time heat. Adams looks smooth and cool in the ring and puts Stu away with the Superkick! Resnick: Baby Doll, last week you made your shocking return and brought along Chris Adams. You did a good job of distracting Tom Zenk in order for Adams to hit him with his superkick. Baby Doll: Tom Zenk is a foolish man to have ever put his dirty hands on me. Well, he certainly paid the price didn't he? Resnick: Not so sure about that, because your man Adams will be facing Zenk at SuperClash. Adams: That suits me very well. Baby Doll is going to take me to the top of the AWA and it starts with you Zenk! I've been watching you disgrace the superkick. Your kick is weak. My superkick puts people down and out. At Superclash I'm putting you down with it and you're not getting up! Commercial Break Brenda Britton is standing in front of a gym door. Carl Fergie and George Wells walk out wearing sweatsuits. Britton: Hi everybody, I'm standing here with Priceless alumni Carl Fergie and George Wells. Behind this door, Gerry Morrow is in serious training. I know everybody is eager to hear an update. Go ahead guys. Fergie: It's unbelievable Brenda. Gerry is rejuvenated like never before. That Fat Man Blackwell doesn't stand a chance! Wells: That's right! Gerry's back! He's in there training like never before. There's no way the Fat Man walks away with the million dollars. Britton: That's the best news ever! Gerry is truly the comeback story of the century. As for you Crusher Fatwell! Listen up! You're not going to stand in Gerry's way! You got that! He deserves the million dollars more than anyone and defiantly more than an obese country bumpkin like you! Ok boys, get back in there and get Gerry ready. Until next time tooooodles. As the door swings open, we see Gerry passed out from exhaustion in the middle of the ring. Carl and Wells run to him as Brenda quickly slams the door. Commercial Break Resnick: Once again I'm standing with Jerry Jarrett. Jerry, I understand you have a blockbuster announcement regarding the world tag team title match at SuperClash 2. Jarrett: Indeed I do Ken. I want Superclash 2 to be the biggest event in AWA history. I've been in talks with another promotion and the deal is done. At SuperClash the Bruise Brothers will be defending the world titles against this team. Let's take a look. The screen goes black for a few seconds. Then 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath plays. It's followed by a montage of the Road Warriors destroying several different opponents. Resnick: My goodness! I can't believe this! Jarrett: It's true. The Windy City Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors are coming to SuperClash for a shot at the AWA world titles. This is truly a historic moment for the AWA and WCPW. A big commotion as the Bruise Brothers storm out. Atlas: Oh, is this the part where we're supposed to act scared? Cameron: Cuz that ain't gonna happen! Snowman: Nobody intimidates us! Atlas: Those painted up freaks can't match the power and strength of the Bruise Brothers! And they sure as hell aint gonna waltz into SuperClash and take away our titles! No way! No how! Bruise Brothers flex and storm out. Resnick: Wow! You talk about a collision coming to SuperClash. Unbelievable! Commercial Break The Glamour Boys vs. The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin These teams go at each other full force. It's a fast paced back and forth match with both teams showing amazing teamwork and chemistry. Things get tense when Norvell's interference causes Doll to run out after him. Norvell turns the corner and as Doll turns the corner, Phil Hickerson (who was hiding behind the steel post) jumps out and clotheslines Doll. Scott Putski runs out and tackles Hickerson and pounds away on him. While all this is going on, inside the ring, the numbers game catches up with Simpson as the Midnight's hit a double hot shot for the win! BOOOO! Will the 6 man elimination match at SuperClash finally solve things? We'll see. Commercial Break Resnick: Ok fans, before we go, I wanted to bring out Jerry "The King" Lawler. Standing cheers as Lawler holds his fist up to them. Resnick: Jerry, at SuperClash 2, you will get another shot at the AWA world title. Only this time it will be a Street Fight. Bad News Brown says you don't stand a chance in a fight with him. Lawler: It seems most of my wrestling history has been nothing but fights. Terry Funk, Bill Dundee, Austin Idol, Adrian Adonis, Butch Reed and of course Tommy Rich. The list goes on and on. What makes Bad News Brown so special? A few weeks ago I shattered a chair over his head. Does it look like I'm afraid to get my hands dirty? My goal is to be world champion again and if I have to beat Brown in a fight, then that's exactly what I'm going to do! WHAM! From behind Lawler is hit with a baseball bat by Bad News Brown! Brown is wearing jeans and black gloves. Brown: You wanted a fight Lawler? Let me show you what a street fight is all about! Brown hits Lawler several times with the bat. Brown picks Lawler up and slams his head on the announcer's table. Lawler's a bloody mess as Brown punches away on his bloody head. Resnick is frantically signaling for help. Brown picks up Lawler and quickly puts him down with the ghetto blaster as help finally arrives to stop this. Brown pushes his way through and grabs the mic. Brown: Lawler! You ain't seen nothing yet! Just wait until SuperClash! Brown drops the mic and holds his fist high.
  12. Ladd's Cade is up first. Steiner wins the battle of the powerhouses. A lot of wrestlers are on my radar in 88 and Steiner is one of them. Taylor and Garvin win one for USA and Uncle Ivan isn't happy. Prichard gets his licks in but like Playboy Rose in PCW, Eddie always has a plan. The Freebirds/Hot Stuff Inc feud is now in full gear. Robley's Monsters have been built up so well that they deserve a run with the titles. Mulligan gets the technical win and it's enough to send the Cartel packing. However, huge price to pay. JYD retains but is left a bloody mess. We've got a hot feud going into 88. Damn, Tully sure proved his toughness. It took 3 Oklahoma Stampedes to put him away. I'm enjoying the Williams reign. Ok, let's see if Watts can top this. Nice bit of intrigue with Cox. Benoit edges out a win over Santo in a thriller. Wright's chisel strikes again. Steiner and Herc show their title win wasn't a fluke. Vader vs. Muta is a great clash of styles match. Vader gets the win but at least Woman got the mist. WHAT?!?! The Cartel shows up? Wasn't expecting this and neither were Jake and Duggan. It took a distraction from Woman and a chair shot from Vader for Luger to retain against Murdoch. An even bigger story happens as the Cartel attacks Watts!!! This is big! Great way to end the show. Nuclear heat! Sooner or later, Ladd and Watts are heading for an explosive showdown.
  13. I've always been a fan of mid card feuds. I'm enjoying the Pride/Lightfoot matches. Luke gets the tainted win over Brunzell to keep the heat going. Blair scores a huge upset over Dundee. That's a confidence builder. Don't let Street's appearance fool you. He can get the job done. Boyd continues his dominance with his iron claw. Los Cubanos punch their ticket to Starrcade by winning the tag battle royal. Worldwide, Stud Stable, Mega Man and DWBs get in good wins. WOW! Haystacks vs. Boyd at Starrcade! Can't wait. That Starrcade card is stacked! All the matches have heat and will no doubt deliver.
  14. Here we go, night 1! I was pulling for St. Clair but Payne was on his A game. I'll be watching the rise of Doug Furnas. Rick Gantner proves himself with a big win over Double J. Morton takes the fall but proves he's one tough customer. Severn vs. Akira has been one of my favorite feuds. Big win for Severn! The Anvil/Young feud was so well done and the pay off was incredible. Anvil wins a bloodbath. Young might be gone from PCW but he doesn't have to hang his head low. Maybe he'll find a new mentor... I'm calling it now, Barr and Guerrero will be the team to watch in 88. WOW! The Heart Punch returns! What a time to do it! Bubba's gone and Red leaves with Bearer. What an ending. That win over the Sawyers proves British Steel are the real deal and can go with the best of them. SSM gave Backlund one heck of a challenge. I know Backlund was sweating that one. After a night like this, there's a lot of pressure on the main event to deliver. Go with what's hot, a LHW title match. Pillman and Owen tear the house down and it could've gone either way. Pillman retains in an absolute classic. Let me catch my breath, ok, night 2. Malenkos have been racking up wins and get another big one over the Guerreros. Pierre and Grizzly get a most satisfying win and sending Khan packing was icing on the cake. I have to admit, I was surprised that Big Cat got the win over Warrior. I love Cat's finisher and it gets put over huge tonight. Big things are defiantly coming Cat's way. Oh man! Simmons puts an end to Sid's terror. Simmons has built up quite a resume is Pacific. I mean he's put down Stan Hansen and now Sid. He's one bad dude! I agree, after that win over Sabu, Tiger is not to be looked over. Credit to Rose, he might be the smartest man in wrestling. I enjoyed Finlay's run but oh man am I looking forward to the Playboy Club and Diamond Exchange alliance. Cactus is nuts! Billy finally finds a way to get the win. Fun match! I said Barr and Eddie will be the team to watch in 88, but the Southern Boys are right there. Huge win over the Midnights. After one of the most brutal feuds in PCW, Windham finally puts OMG away. Looking forward to seeing what's next for Windham. Bret wins the TV title! Great match and nice display of sportsmanship by Ed. Bret's reign will be amazing. YES! Coast to Coast wins the Tag Titles! I love these guys. Snow and Candido should be reminded of what happened between the last Knights who had grievances. Bock and Hennig cap off the event with an epic title bout. Hennig does it and the celebration is on! Class act by Bock. He truly went out like a champion. Let's get ready for the dawning of a new era. This event had it all. Props to all your hard work.
  15. Damn! Ladd and Watts have done it again. 2 stacked cards! And once again, the fans win. What a great way to spend Thanksgiving. I can't wait!
  16. Mega Man scores an impressive win over a 13 time Karate champion. I thought Zodiac and Jason were winding down, but man you put some major heat on them tonight. Sherri comes through for the Gigolo. Afi wasn't playing around. Yamada came with his working boots on, but it only took one mistake for Debeers to pull it out. Debeers has become a big time player in the game. Excellent job. It shows how much respect Wright has earned if Boyd keeps it clean. Worldwide, Always good seeing Fernandez and Parsons on TV. Grappler 2 is gunning for Boyd. Looking forward to the tag team battle royal. I'm doing the same thing for SuperClash. I just love this idea. You know Starrcade is going to be huge if Ray Charles is kicking things off.
  17. Bennett gets the win and Mitchell places the blame on everybody else. Luna's stock is on the rise. I think 88 will be her breakout year. Montagas puts a piledriving stamp on Morgan. Exciting 8 woman tag that defiantly kept the viewers from switching channels. Loved the differences in the post match interviews LOL. Moretti retains against a game Combs. Smart booking moving this one to the main event slot.
  18. LA, Owen knows how to get a crowd going. OMG looked like the monster he is. Nobody gets up from a Simmons spear. Malenkos are rising the ranks fast. What is up with Paul Bearer? Bock vs. St. Clair! OH YEA! Great match up! Perfect way for Bock to gear up for Hennig. Santa Barbara, The team of Finlay and Grizzly works as they give the Diamond Exchange a rare loss. Good booking with Pierre and Sabu. I can see their styles meshing well. Speaking of meshing well, same goes for the Guerreros and Midnights Billy Jack shows AOD what real power is all about. Pillman defeats Tiger in yet another thrilling LHW match. You really know how to put the right people in the 2/3 falls matches. Bomb Squad have serious momentum heading into Battleground.
  19. Even though he was a bit tamer, Sid still continues his rampage in Pacific. Hart is one step ahead of Young's shady tactics. Hennig is really looking impressive as he heads into his big title match with Bock. Bubba sends a strong message to Red. Hot tag match ends the show. I think both of these teams are going to have a big year in 88.
  20. The Haitian Sensation shocks Chief Joe to open the show on a high note. Good to see Yamada and Hase back on track. I think they will be serious contenders in 1988. The SPC put up a fight but the Andersons are back and focused. I'm loving the 3 way chaos between the Commonwealth, Sheepherders and Bees. Cool program. Debeers is quickly becoming the NWA's top heel and that's saying something. After that berating, Smiley might've been to emotionally fired up as Boyd ends up with the TV title. Surprising moment for sure. Worldwide, This show has been a great forum for solid showcases. Former TV champ Wright gets another chance at the title next week. Should be very interesting. 3 title bouts signed for Starrcade! I would purchase the pay per view on these matches alone.
  21. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 11-18-87 Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Our big main event will see Nick Busick defend the TV title against Billy Jack Strong. A lot of action tonight but first I want to bring out AWA President Jerry Jarrett, who has some huge news regarding SuperClash 2. Jarrett walks out and shakes Lance's hand. Jarrett: Lance, as you know there's been a lot of bad blood here in the AWA. At Superclash 2, I'm hoping we can resolve a lot of these issues. The following matches have been signed. Nikita Koloff will face The Dream Machine. In a grudge match, Austin Idol will go up against Steve Keirn. The Glamour Boys and Scott Putski will take on The Original Midnight Express and Phil Hickerson in a 6 man elimination match. Now, Mike George was scheduled to defend the International title against Al Perez. In a surprising turn of events, Perez has given up that title shot. Let's hear some pre recorded comments from Perez and why he's turned down his rightful title shot. Perez: (bandage on his head) I know people must think I'm crazy for doing this, but after what Larry Zbyszko did to me at the Rupp Arena, I just couldn't let it go. I'll still be wrestling at SuperClash, but it's going to be against Larry Zbyszko in a taped fist match! Larry! I requested this match because all I want to do is pound on your arrogant head. You knocked me out with your nun chucks so now I'm going to knock you out with my fists! Back Live Jarrett: I wanted to see Perez get that title shot he deserved but he was adamant about facing Zbyszko. And after seeing what Zbyszko did to him at the Rupp Arena, well, I felt I owed it to Al Perez. Hopefully this gets settled once and for all. And now.... There's a commotion as the AWA world champ Bad News Brown storms out. Brown has the title on his shoulder but his head has a bandage wrap around it. Brown: Jarrett, I've been listening to you going on and on about SuperClash 2. You see my head? Yea, your golden boy Lawler shattered a chair over it last week on national TV. Looks to me like he wants to fight. Well guess what Lawler, so do I! You want a fight? I'll give you one! I'll put this here world title on the line at SuperClash. But hold on, you want to fight right? Let's fight! You get a title shot but it's going to be in a ghetto street fight! Yea, let's see what kind of fighter you really are. Personally, I think you're nothing but a chicken and coward. You're a cockroach that I'm going to stomp down on. I threw down the challenge. The question is, will a coward like you accept? Brown storms off. Jarrett: Lance, I was going to announce that world title bout anyways, but this changes things. Normally I wouldn't sanction this type of match for the world title so.... Massive cheers as JERRY LAWLER storms out. Lawler: Jerry, I'll make this real easy for you. Bad News Brown, I accept! Not only will I beat you in a fight, but I'm going to take the world title as well! Jarrett: Well, I guess the SuperClash 2 main event is now official. The fans are still cheering. Commercial Break The Dream Machine vs. Neil Jordan Dream swings off the ropes and hits his jumping elbow drop for the win. Resnick: After that brief showdown last week... Dream: Shut up Resnick! What happened last week was that no good commie Nikita Koloff sucker punched me and caught me completely off guard. Typical behavior from a Vodka drinking degenerate. SuperClash will be a different story. The Dream Machine is back and better than ever babay and I'm going to send that bald headed geek back to where he belongs! Commercial Break Crusher Blackwell vs. Trent Watkins More "future millionaire" chants as Blackwell wins the match with a big splash. Blackwell smiles at the fans as he heads too ringside. Resnick: Just listen to these fans Crusher Blackwell. They really want to see you win the million dollars at SuperClash. What a life changing moment that would be. Your head must be spinning. Blackwell: That's an understatement Ken. I'm beyond excited to be competing for one million dollars. I can't wait! I want Gerry Morrow to know, if he comes back he better be ready for the fight of his life because this is the chance of a lifetime and I'm going to make the absolute most of it. Commercial Break Uncommon Alliance vs. Todd Rooney and Ray Glader Kirchner hits a backbreaker on Glader and holds him as Barr comes down from the middle ropes with a knee to the chest for the win. Resnick: Uncommon Alliance will be one of the teams competing in the Clash Countdown tag team battle royal. The winners will each receive a brand new Cadillac as well as a National Tag Team title shot the next night at SuperClash. Here's a rundown of the teams competing in the battle royal. Uncommon Alliance, Polynesian Power, the British Bombers, Venomous, The Honor Roll, The Quebec Coalition, The Teamsters, and Rip Oliver and Matt Borne. Commercial Break "The Z-Man" Tom Zenk vs. Vic Dutro Zenk nails Dutro with the Superkick and it's all over. Resnick: Tom Zenk, you have been on an incredible roll in the AWA... Boos as BABY DOLL strolls out. Resnick: Whoa, wait a second! Baby Doll what are you doing here? Baby Doll: Keep your mouth closed Resnick and you'll find out. (Looks at Zenk) The last time you saw me, you hoisted me over your shoulder and walked me out of the Mid South Coliseum. The fans laugh and cheer. Baby Doll: Oh yea, these fans, Lawler and you probably had a great laugh didn't you? Zenk: (Smiling) look Baby Doll, it was humorous, but I had to do it to stop all your interfering. Baby Doll: Yea, keep smiling. Let's see if you're smiling after this. The fans are yelling. Zenk turns around and gets nailed by a superkick from CHRIS ADAMS!!! Resnick: What in the world!?!? Adams and Baby Doll are laughing and hug. Baby Doll: Who's smiling now Resnick? Commercial Break Resnick: I can't believe what I just saw. Baby Doll is back and it appears her and Chris Adams have formed a friendship. I think we're in trouble. Switching gears, I want to take you to Carlos Colon and get an update on his condition. Colon is now at home. His face is still bandaged but he seems to be looking better. Colon: I'm feeling better and my spirits are up. It's been confirmed by Doctors that I will be cleared to wrestle at SuperClash 2. My family has shown tremendous support and they've been helping me get my strength back. Both physically and mentally. I'm ashamed I ever made a deal with Curtis Iaukea. Never again will I turn my back on the fans. Abbuda Iaukea! You burned my flesh but my soul was saved. My mission now is to rid the evil you and your Father have brought to the AWA. That will happen at SuperClash! Commercial Break "The Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol vs. Peter Casper Idol is back in the ring and hasn't lost a step as he wins the match with the Las Vegas Leglock. Resnick: Austin, you really did a number on Steve Keirn at the Rupp Arena. He's lucky his knee didn't have permanent damage. Idol: Oh, poor Steve Keirn. That guy put me out for a month and you didn't say a damn word! I even told you and that dummy that payback was coming. Well payback came and that idiot was put down. Darling, at SuperClash I'm going to make sure Steve Keirn never walks again! Commercial Break Brenda Britton is standing in a park Britton: Last time I was here and saw Gerry, I just couldn't believe how far he had fallen. I was speechless and couldn't even say a word to him. That has all changed! There is purpose now. I can really help Gerry. I can get him back on his feet and make him rich again. I know he can beat that Fat Man Blackwell and be a millionaire again. It's fate! Follow me and lets get Gerry back in the game. Brenda walks up to the park bench. Gerry is sleeping in a dirty white tank top and camouflage pants. His hair's a mess and he's unshaven. There's empty bottles all around him and he's covered in newspaper. Brenda taps on Gerry. Britton: Gerry? Gerry? (shakes him) Gerry, please wake up. Gerry stirs around and swats at the air. Britton: Gerry! It's me! It's Brenda! Gerry turns over and squints his eyes. He focuses and his eyes widen. Gerry: Brenda? Britton: (jumps up and down) Yes! Yes! Gerry! It's me! Gerry processes all this then covers his face with the newspaper. Gerry: Brenda, I can't let you see me like dis. I'm ashamed. Please just go away. I beg of you. Britton: No Gerry! It's ok! I've been tracking you down for months. I can help you! Not just me, but I brought some old friends. Brenda waves them in. CARL FERGIE and GEORGE WELLS walk over. Gerry lowers the paper. Gerry: Carl? George? Is dat really you? Carl: In the flesh old buddy. George: We're here to help. Britton: Gerry, just come with us and we'll tell you everything. You can get it all back. Carl and George help Gerry up and pat him on the back. Carl: Let's get you cleaned up old buddy. George: Everything's going to be just fine. Gerry: (crying) I missed you guys so very much. The three of them hug like there's no tomorrow. Britton: (tears running down her cheeks) Now this is what I call priceless. Commercial Break AWA TV Title Bout Nick Busick (C) vs. Billy Jack Strong The bell rings and these powerhouses just pound away on each other. They fight to the ropes and to the outside. They hammer away on each other all around the ring. The Ref finally starts counting but Busick and Strong are only concerned with hitting each other hard. The Ref counts to 10 and signals for the bell. The bell continues to ring but the Ref still can't stop them and eventually signals for help. Prelim wrestlers come out to break it up but Busick and Strong start knocking them down, then go back to fighting each other. Officials, security and more wrestlers come out and these guys still manage to get in hits on each other. Chaos ensues into the commercial. Commercial Break Lance: My goodness, that was quite a scene. Once again, here's Jerry Jarrett. Jarrett: That's exactly the kind of bad blood I was talking about Lance. I want things to get settled at SuperClash and here's what I'm going to do. Nick Busick and Billy Jack Strong have count out wins over each other and we just saw them fight to a brutal double count out. At SuperClash 2, Nick Busick will defend the TV title against Billy Jack Strong inside a steel cage! That should keep them in the ring. And since we're talking about SuperClash 2, next week I'll announce who the Bruise Brothers will be defending their AWA world tag team titles against and believe me this is going to be a blockbuster. I'll also have a decision on the International title defense as well. A lot going on. See you all next week. Live on Pay Per View Saturday, December 31st From the St. Paul Civic Center Singing the National Anthem- Joan Jett
  22. Ladd has guts going to a Watts show alone. He goes to jail but made a huge statement. Brawler with a sweet finish. Garvin can knock you out or make you give up. Dark Journey has really earned her money. Wahoo seems very loyal to Ivan. I'm sure Taylor is going to want a piece of Wahoo. Watts chose his attack wisely. This situation is beyond the law now. I almost forgot that Williams and Mulligan did a number on El Jefe. Classic move by Tommy. Prichard gets his revenge and can easily play the inexperience card LOL. Tully pulls off the ultimate heel move to earn a title shot at WrestleCade. He's going to have to pull out every heel trick he's got to take the title away from Williams.
  23. Fright Night is here and the Boss gets things going. Tough Guy Inc. are worthy challengers but Adias and the Grapplers are in the zone. Love that finish as Spartanburg Vice save the day for S&S. The New Breed are going to be looking for payback. I can't believe it, but Debeers gets even more heat as he ruins overtime in a classic TV title bout. Sheepherders follow Debeers and ruin the world tag title bout. Now the Sheepherders have to deal with the Commonwealth and the Bees. Landel cheats his way to Starrcade. Dusty really had the fans energized, what a shame. The Starrcade Cup added so much excitement this past month. After all sorts of craziness, Flair eeks out the win over Hansen. But look what we have going into Starrcade. Nature Boy vs. Nature Boy for the world title and looks like Hansen vs. Brody. Not to mention it's in Greensboro. Starrcade is going to be epic!!!
  24. AWA releases Stoney Burke AWA picks up Carl Fergie and George Wells.
  25. Snow might've lost the match but he gets SSM's respect. Young's picking up wins but losing friends. Hmmmmm, Rose just seems too confident. But man, I can't help but love this guy. Cuban Assassin is on a roll. Southern Boys vs. Malenkos! Damn, I love Pacific's tag division. My man St. Clair is tuned up and ready for Payne. Cow Palace, Trouble brewing with Snow and Candido. Gotta say, with Savage cracking the whip, I can't blame Snow. Like his partner, Flowers is racking up the wins. Furnas's stock rises after that win over Eaton. Cactus and Pierre go at it again with no clear cut winner. Hennig's ready for Bock! And Bock is ready for Hennig! Fresno, Anvil pleases his hometown crowd. Grizzly's splash is such a cool visual. Payne sends an up close and personal message to St. Clair. Big Cat has one of my favorite finishers. Severn shows Khan why he's a beast. Backlund and Windham end the show on a wild note. I'm sure the fans went home happy after that one.
