The USWA era has begun! Loved the Lawler locker room promo. He's always welcomed back to defend his title in the AWA I always liked the Southern Boys and they've been treated well in our world Savage, Slater, Orndorff, Landell, Hennig. You'll definitely have no problem booking Lawler for months. Doom vs. The Steiners! Bring it on! Hmmmmmm, could seeds be planted for a HTM face turn??? With all the big stories going on, its fun seeing the side stories like Dutch and Gaylord. Freebirds are still walking down Badstreet No doubt about it, you had to have a chaotic ending on the USWA debut show. Very entertaining show

I always loved a good bounty angle. This will elevate Sting to an even higher level and keeps his story fresh with a variety of characters to face. Sherri's tearing it here and is a crucial part of getting the Skyscrapers and Zeus over Tully and JJ has been such an entertaining story Love the quick descriptions of the squash matches along with straight to the point promos. Very well paced shows. The Omni show was a lot of fun Yep, the Rockers are tearing it up Zenk, Owen and Bulldog continue to gel well together I'm looking forward to more chaos with the Nasty Boys and Skyscrapers RW's, Rockers and P&G could turn into a fun 3 way feud. My favorite version of Rotundo was his Varsity Club days. Seeing him with Sullivan got a pop from me That was one hell of a tag match! DAMN! Garvin and Martel tore the house down! Garvin doesn't get the title but man he left his mark in WCW with that win.

Blackman's definitely tuned up for Malenko Barr's coming on strong Severn's been mowing over competition lately I agree with AD, the terror could soon be holding all the gold in PCW The FOJ have been one of my favorite tag teams in the game The Italian Stallion vs. Sgt Slaughter. That match sells No matter what, Rose still knows how to get a win. PR is tuning up the right way for Williams and Gordy Cow Palace, Yea, Rose is getting his money's worth with Lee The Bigelow/Tenryu feud is rock'n PCW WOW! It took 3 piledrivers to get Barr down but damn he got Piper's respect. Hart ekes out a bloody win over Gordy Steamboat retains but Williams really soften him up for the man of means. Fresno, Adam's superkick still has a sting Iron and Steel are ready to win the tournament Sabu's stock is rising fast Oh yes, I'm sure Dibiase is pleased with the OWC. Nothing like a chaotic 6 man tag Azul takes advantage of a wild miss and once again retains.

Chaos as the Jive Tones accidently cost Latin Desire the National tag titles to the Mavericks. Jerry Lawler winning the USWA title, then attacked by Anderson and Zbyszko. Hulk Hogan and Stan Hansen battling to a double c.o. in the world title bout. Ric Flair defeats Carlos Colon to win the Champagne Challenge. Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. Champagne Slam is in the books and we're officially in the road to WrestleRock 90. Before we get to WrestleRock, the next Title Night will take place on May 16th in St. Paul. AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow announced that Hulk Hogan will defend the AWA world title in a rematch with Stan Hansen, inside the steel cage. Also, that night, Terry Taylor will defend the International title against Champagne Challenge runner up, Carlos Colon. As for tonight, Champagne Challenge winner Ric Flair will make his AWA TV debut. So much going on, so let's go to ring. The Renegade Warriors vs. The Commission Two weeks ago, the Warriors got the best of the Commission. Col. Debeers demanded his men get a rematch and win. The Commission start off strong and take it to the Warriors. They swing Chris to the ropes and a double clothesline puts him down. DeKlerk drops a knee 1..2..Kick Out. Deklerk tags in Krueger. They double slam Chris and Krueger covers 1..2..Kick Out. Chris eventually makes the hot tag and Mark cleans house. Mark snap suplexes Krueger and covers 1..2..Deklerk breaks it. Nelson: (nervously) Nell, at Champagne Slam, Brutus Beefcake was stretchered out of the arena, thanks to the Hangman. Nell: (in his slow southern drawl) Larry Nelson, I told you that we're here in the AWA to get rid of all the poor and lost degenerate souls. Brutus Beefcake was a tortured soul and the Hangman put him out of his misery. And now we will be choosing our next soul to take. One by one, they will all fall at the hands of the Hangman. The Hangman wiggles his noose in front of Larry and Larry gets out of there quick. Commercial Break The Enforcers (Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko) vs. Sam Smith and Neil Jordan Zbyszko tags Smith with a mule kick as Arn follows with a DDT for the win. Nelson: I don't know where to begin. The two of you ruined a special moment for the newly crowned USWA champ Jerry Lawler at Champagne Slam. What's your deal with Lawler and why are you here in the AWA? Zbyszko: I have to say Nelson, I didn't miss you at all. The Enforcers have a long term plan that's none of your business. Jerry Lawler's time will come, but right now we have other things on our mind. Arn: I'll get right to the point. The Enforcers want the AWA world tag team titles, which means we've got a target on the Rock n Roll Express! When we win those titles, phase one will be complete. Ricky, Robert, we're coming after you and coming hard! Commercial Break Bobby Blaze vs. 'The British Bomber' Johnny Smith w/Les Thronton Blaze flusters Smith with hip tosses and take overs. Smith comes back with some stiff forearm blasts. Blaze retakes control and scoop slams Smith then follows with a jumping elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Smith turns things around and puts Blaze down with a back elbow smash. King Kahlua comes to ringside. Thornton glances at him. Blaze makes a comeback and has Smith in trouble. Smith hoists Blaze on the turnbuckles and delivers a Superplex 1..2..3! Thornton runs in and raises his man's arm in victory. Commercial Break AWA National Tag Team Champs The Mavericks vs. Jay Morris and Bob Martin Young hits a delayed suplex on Martin, then tags in Embry. Embry finishes things off with a running bulldog. The fans cheer as the Mavericks hold up their newly won National tag titles. Nelson: Congratulations Mavericks on winning the National tag titles. Tiger Conway leads the Jive Tones out. Conway: Hold on just one minute! You two fools wouldn't even be champs if it wasn't for the Jive Tones. So the way I figure it, is you all owe us! Latin Desire run out and attack the Jive Tones! They fight into the Mavericks. Now all 3 teams are fighting! They hammer away on each other into the commercial break. Commercial Break Jumbo Tsuruta w/Ray Stevens vs. Trent Watkins Jumbo is hard hitting tonight and wins the match with a devastating powerbomb! Nelson: Ray at Champagne Slam.. Stevens snatches the mic Stevens: No more games! Muraco! You're history! We're going to show you how serious we are real soon! Stevens throws the mic as he leads Jumbo out. Commercial Break Leo Burke vs. Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden This one on one has been brewing for a long time. The bell rings and these guys just pound away on each other. The Ref tries to break it up but both men hit the Ref. When the Ref comes to his senses, he signals for the double DQ. The bell's ringing but Leo and Jimmy keep pounding away on each other. Commercial Break 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair vs. Harold Bannister The fans are impressed by Flair's entrance as he smoothly walks into the ring wearing one of his sequin robes. Flair works over his opponent and gives a WHOO as he hits a delayed knee drop. Flair hoists Bannister up and hits a shin breaker. Flair clamps on the figure four and it's all over. Nelson: Ric Flair, welcome to the AWA and congratulations on winning the Champagne Challenge. You have now sealed the deal for a world title shot at WrestleRock. Flair: WHOOOOO! I came to the AWA with one goal in mind and that's to win the AWA world title! Hulk Hogan! I said I was coming for you. If Stan Hansen takes you out, then I'll take the title from him. It doesn't matter because you all are looking at the greatest wrestler walking the earth. Joan Jett's do you want to touch me blasts over the speakers. Out walks Austin Idol. Idol looks around and flexes. Idol walks over to Flair and takes off his sunglasses. Idol: Oh darling, Austin Idol has returned. That's right, the man who ran Bob Armstrong out of town is back in the AWA! Now, I see that a lot's changed here. (looking at Flair) It seems you've become a big deal here darling. I guess that makes sense since you're blatantly ripping me off. I mean, look at you. You're nothing but a cheap imitation of me. Worst of all, you're stealing my move, the Las Vegas leglock. That doesn't fly with me Jack. So, before you start talking about a world title shot, you and I have business brother. Flair: (smirks) You're calling me an imitation of you? For the last 5 years, I've been winning world titles all over the globe. The name Ric Flair has been at the top of every promotion around. Where have you been Idol? It's real simple, if you want to dance with the Nature Boy, I'm right here in the AWA pal. WHOOOOO! The fans cheer as Flair struts away.

The WWF is going full throttle! Big cards in Philly and Boston, plus SNME and KOTR! Exciting times. It's great seeing Beefcake back home. And we get him in full Barber gimmick. Nice touch having Dusty put over Dustin's finisher. Warrior's reign is kicking off with a bang. Earthquake has some strong words for him. I always thought Berzerker's finisher was so creative and different. Silver King picks up his biggest WWF win. Samoans get a shot at the Commonwealth. That'll be a big banger of a match. Billy Jack rebounds well with a strong win over the Sheik. Satisfying win for Hacksaw. HOOOOOOO!

Oh man, Luger and Pillman are on the brink. I wonder if Sting can play peacemaker. I think we're heading for a Skyscrapers/Nasty Boys showdown. Ok, looks like Muta and Chono are working together. I'm sure Rotunda will find his way With Abby on the loose, Sting better be on high alert Nice win for Z-Man. Perhaps a TV title shot in the future.

Flair gets a good reaction as he holds up the bottle of champagne. Editor's note- Normally I would put the world title match on last, but with the non finish, I thought Flair winning the challenge would end the show on a better note.

Huge announcement with Warrior defending against Earthquake. Then we hear Warrior will defend against Haku. King of the Ring is the perfect setting for that. No doubt about it, Warrior has a lot of contenders lining up. Looking forward to the Rhodes working together. This is a good time in Dusty's career to tag up with his son. I'm hoping Silver King gets a push. I always thought he was pretty cool. Damn, the Berzerker will make an awesome gatekeeper for the Heenan Family. POP vs. Demolition inside the cage! Bring it on! Hase's been racking up some wins. Prichard and Orton are two guys that can deliver. Fun TV main event. Great follow up to Mania. I like the direction the WWF is going.

The image of Kokina's Samoan drop was perfect for the Free for All and might've got some last minute buys. Goulet kicks things off and the Canadian crowd is ready. Props to the American Eagles and Russians for getting this flag match way over with a neutral crowd. Huge win for Vader. This really gets him over in a big way. KVE vs. Jake just works. The DDT on Kevin solidifies Roberts as a serious and dangerous heel. Loved the rules in the Prison Yard Match. It takes a lot of help from Mr. Hughes to get Bossman in the cage, but Nailz comes out on top. This was an awesome feud. The Commonwealth end the Rougeaus reign on their home turf. Talk about poetic justice. Damn! I thought Vader looked like a monster, but Quake looked devastating. 3 splashes on Andre. WOW! He's now the true Giant in the WWF. The Bees and Badd Co. deserved this spot after tearing it up on the loop. Badd Co. gets the win on the big stage. Snuka came to fight but Haku really came on strong at the end. Long live the King. Duggan and Manny give the Canadian fans a true southern brawl. Duggan gets his payback. HOOOOOOO! We get a big surprise as the Viking helps POP retain. That triple powerbomb through the table was quite the spectacle. I was really anticipating the big IC title bout. It was built up so well. Of course, Tito and Bravo delivered. Tito had one heck of a run, now it's Bravo's turn. Dusty closes out a chapter with Funk. The big story is Dustin saving the day. Looks like another chapter will be written. After an incredible night of action, we get the world title bout. Heenan and Rude take advantage of Buster's inexperience but in the end, Buster sets things straight which leads to a Warrior onslaught and winning the title. Lowblow is right. Warrior now has a list of top contenders to work with. The way it should have been IRL. Great job! The matches delivered and we now have new stories to look forward to.

Sayama retains with under a minute left. Just as important, he earns Backlund's respect. Excellent write ups and match descriptions. Great job!

Luger and Pillman seem to be on good terms...for now Things are getting heated between Tully and JJ. I'm excited to see where this is going I like the pushes the Diamond Stud and Skyscrapers are getting. I think there's only room in WCW for either Garvin or Martel. Love the Widowmaker's look. I think Wahoo can build Tatanka back up. Nikita and Muta get things done. Looking forward to the anticipated showdown between Luger and Muta, but it seems Muta was caught off guard by Chono.

AWA Major League Wrestling
AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 4-4-90 Highlights from the Royal Albert Hall card is shown. Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. We're just one week away from Champagne Slam and tonight the AWA world champion Hulk Hogan will join us to address his upcoming title bout with Stan Hansen. We'll also see a number of wrestlers who will be competing in Champagne Challenge, in action tonight. Our big event will be a wild one as Leo Burke, Cactus Jack and TV champ David Sammartino take on Jimmy Golden, Buzz Sawyer and Jim Neidhart. My goodness! Ok, let's get to the ring. AWA World Tag Champs The Rock n Roll Express vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez It's all RnR as they finish things off with a double dropkick. Wait a minute! The Destruction Crew hit the ring and we've got a pier six brawl going! RnR get the upper hand and stereo dropkick Enos and Bloom through the ropes! The Destruction Crew regroup and look into the ring as RnR hold their titles high. Commercial break AWA International Champ 'The Red Rooster' Terry Taylor vs. Lane Lautner Taylor does a little strut, swings his opponent to the ropes and hits the flying 5 Arm for the win. Nelson: Terry, you'll be in the Champagne Challenge and as a champion, I'm sure a lot of guys will be gunning to eliminate you. Taylor: You couldn't be more wrong Larry. How many times do I have to tell you? The Red Rooster runs the barn here and all those little chickens are going to fall prey to yours truly. In the end, I'm going to be standing tall and heading to WrestleRock to win the biggest title of them all, a title fit for the Rooster! That's me! Taylor slicks back his ponytail and struts away as Nelson rolls his eyes. Commercial Break The Renegade Warriors vs. The Commission Both teams will be in the Champagne Challenge and both teams are vying for a tag title shot. Warriors start strong and have the Commission off their game. Things take a turn as Mark has Krueger up for a suplex but Deklerk runs in and clips Mark behind the knee. The Commission take control and work over Mark pretty bad. They almost pin him after a double rib breaker but Chris makes the save. Mark eventually makes the hot tag and Chris cleans house. Chris hits a flying body press on Deklerk, but Kruger breaks the pin. Mark runs in and chops Krueger through the ropes. The Renegade Warriors execute a double slingshot suplex on Deklerk 1..2..3! Commercial Break Nelson: Just a few weeks ago, the AWA made a historic acquisition by signing former multi time world champion, Ric Flair. Flair will be in the Champagne Challenge. Let's hear some comments from the Nature Boy himself. We see a jet plane on the runway. The door opens and Ric Flair (suit and sunglasses) walks down the steps and stops in front of the camera. He's greeted by two gorgeous women. Flair: Well, here I am! The AWA! The Major League of professional wrestling! WHOO! The only place I haven't won a world title. That all changes because step one is winning the Champagne Challenge. After that, I go onto WrestleRock and make wrestling history. It doesn't matter if you like it or not, but you'll have to learn to love it, because Ric Flair is the best thing going today! WHOOOOO! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, with me now is one half of the Olympians, Brad Rheingans. Brad, I understand you've been medically cleared to wrestle and you'll be taking on Carlos Colon in just a minute. I was sickened by your actions in London. I understand Tom Brandi is banged up but will be in the Champagne Challenge along with your partner, Ken Patera. Rheingans: Awwwww poor Tom Brandi. Hey, if he can't take the heat, stay out of the Olympians kitchen. My partner Kenny is in serious training right now and trust me, nobody will stop him in the Champagne Challenge. I'm so excited to be back in the ring and now it's time to give Carlos Colon a textbook wrestling lesson. Carlos Colon vs. 'Olympian' Brad Rheingans Rheingans looks pretty good as he takes Colon down a few times and works him over with some scientific wrestling. Colon comes back with some nice moves of his own and flusters Rheingans. Rheingans nods to Colon and offers a handshake. Colon looks out at the crowd as they boo Rheingans. Rheingans tries to kick Colon low, but Colon grabs his boot, twirls him around and atomic drops Rheingans into the turnbuckles. Rheingans hits hard and staggers back as Colon executes a belly to back suplex 1..2..3! Big Pop! Commercial Break A montage video hypes up the special USWA title match at Champagne Slam between Curt Hennig and Jerry Lawler. Nelson: Fans, I'm very excited for the USWA title bout coming to the AWA's Champagne Slam. I know Hennig and Lawler have been in a fierce rivalry and I'm sure the AWA fans are going to love watching them battle it out for the USWA title. On that note, my guests are the National tag champs, Latino Desire. The Perez brothers walk out looking pretty dapper with the titles on their shoulders. They cut a promo and say the Mavericks have no business being in the ring with them and at Champagne Slam they're going to show the Mavericks why Latin Desire is holding the titles and they're not. Commercial Break Leo Burke/Cactus Jack and AWA TV Champ David Sammartino vs. Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden/'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer and Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart Well, not much to say here. It's an all out pier six brawl the minute the bell rings. The Ref knows he can't control this, so he immediately signals for the bell, declaring a no contest. It doesn't matter, because the 6 men keep fighting all over the place. After a lot of fighting, Burke hurls Golden over the top rope. Jack and Sawyer both fight up the aisle. Sammartino and Anvil both fight and end up falling over the top rope. They get up and keep fighting. It's a chaotic scene. Commercial Break Nelson: Ok, wow, I knew that was going to get nuts and it sure did. Well. speaking of nuts, we've seen Hulk Hogan and Stan Hansen involved in a couple of incidents that spiraled out of control. It was so intense, that Gerry Morrow had to make sure they couldn't be in the same building since. On that note, my guest at this time is the AWA world champion, the immortal Hulk Hogan! Eye of the Tiger blasts and the fans go wild. Hogan enters the ring wearing jeans, tank top, and his world title around his waist. Nelson: Ok Hulk, next week at Champagne Slam, it's you and Stan Hansen for the world title. Hogan: Well you know something Lethal Larry, there's a lot going down in the AWA brother. With this Champagne Challenge, a lot of wrestlers will be gunning for that coveted title shot at WrestleRock. I want to make one thing clear. With the power of Hulkamania, I will defeat Stan Hansen and I will be holding this world title when WrestleRock comes around. Don't think I'm underestimating Stan Hansen. I've felt his brute force brother and I've been rocked by it. But with all my Hulkamaniacs support and these 24 inch pythons, there's no way we can lose. I've faced adversity before and I'm still standing. So Stan Hansen! Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you at Champagne Slam! Hogan rips off his shirt and gives the fans a pose down.

AWA Major League Wrestling
AWA @ The Royal Albert Hall 3-29-90 The Power Twins and Bobby Blaze vs. Good Vibrations and King Kahlua w/The Vin Man The fans in London get a fun 6 man tag to kick things off. Blaze and Kahlua go at it in a few exchanges. The Power Twins and Good Vibrations take turns showcasing their tag skills. After a few minutes a pier six brawl happens. Blaze and Kahlua go at it. Vinnie hops on the apron. The Power Twins hurl Jammer out of the ring. They go for a running double clothesline on Beach but Beach ducks which allows the Power Twins to clothesline Vinnie off the apron. The Power Twins turn around and put Beach down with a double shoulder tackle 1..2..3! 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi vs. 'Olympian' Ken Patera w/Brad Rheingans So far Brandi has scored 2 wins over Patera. We'll see if the third time's a charm. Brandi frustrates Patera with high octane offense. Patera comes back with some hard hitting power moves. Patera gets several near falls but Brandi somehow survives and starts to make a comeback. Brandi's all over Patera and hits a flying body press from the top rope 1..2..NO! Rheingans hits the ring and starts stomping away on Brandi. The Ref signals for the DQ. The bell's ringing but the Olympians continue to put a serious beating on Brandi. AWA TV Title Bout David Sammartino (c) vs. Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart It was obvious Anvil was pissed about losing his TV title because after raising Sammartino's hand in victory, he gave him a hard lowblow kick. Sammartino didn't hesitate to give a rematch. Sammartino starts off with fire and takes it to Anvil. Anvil weathers the storm and stops Sammartino's momentum with a devastating clothesline. Anvil punishes Sammartino with some brutal shots and moves. Anvil almost scores the win with a snake eyes on the top turnbuckle but Sammartino somehow gets his shoulder up. Anvil swings Sammartino into the corner and charges in but Sammartino moves as Anvil crashes head on into the turnbuckles. Anvil staggers up as Sammartino grabs him and hits a belly to belly suplex 1..2..3! Sammartino retains! Cactus Jack vs. 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer These two continue their "fun" feud and I don't think the London fans were prepared. Jack and Sawyer take turns beating each other senseless. They fight in and out of the ring and both men bleed. After brawling on the outside again, Sawyer rolls into the ring. Jack follows but Sawyer gives Jack a running knee to the head as Jack crawls through the ropes. Sawyer puts his feet on the ropes as the Ref counts 1..2..3! Sawyer slides out of the ring. Jack sits up and wipes the blood off his face. Jack smiles and does his Bang Bang sign. Looks like Jack wants to have more fun. The Swords of Light vs. The Starrs So far, the Starrs have costed the Swords a tournament win and a TV title shot for Konnan. The Starrs brutally attacked the Swords in the locker room and were going to be suspended but the Swords demanded this match. The opening minutes is all Swords as they pummel and pinball the Starrs all over the ring. The Starrs manage to turn the tide and control a segment but it doesn't last too long. Gama tags in Konnan and Konnan cleans house. Konnan back drops Chicky over the top rope. Konnan swings Ron to the ropes and hits a spinning backbreaker. Konnan tags in Gama. Gama clamps the Boston Crab on Ron. Chicky tries to stumble back in the ring but Konnan dropkicks him back out. Gama wrenches away as Ron submits. Very satisfying win for the Swords of Light. Brutus Beefcake vs. The Hangman w/Nell A lot of bad blood here. Beefcake's fired up and gets the fans behind him as he goes to town on Hangman. Thanks to a distraction from Nell, Hangman takes control and gives Beefcake a thrashing. Hangman goes for a suplex but Beefcake fights it and suplexes Hangman over. The fans pump Beefcake up and he lights up Hangman. Beefcake swings Hangman to the ropes and sends Hangman to the outside with a running high knee. On the outside, Nell runs over and slips something into Hangman's mask. Hangman gets on the apron. Beefcake runs over and grabs Hangman, but Hangman headbutts Beefcake. Beefcake falls back and down. Hangman gets in the ring, lifts up a lifeless Beefcake and puts him down with another loaded headbutt 1..2..3! Nell gives Hangman his noose. Hangman is ready to hang Beefcake but a swarm of London's finest hit the ring and stop the madness. 'The Rock' Don Muraco w/Superstar Graham vs. Jumbo Tsuruta w/Ray Stevens At Title Night, Muraco scored a big win over Jumbo. Stevens has called this the biggest fluke in wrestling history and has blamed Muraco for spoiling his world title plans. Jumbo isn't playing around tonight and unloads on Muraco with a suplex onslaught. Muraco regroups and comes back with some power moves of his own. The match is hard hitting and stiff. Jumbo goes for an enzigiri but Muraco ducks. Muraco applies the Asian Spike nerve hold on Jumbo. On the outside, Stevens clips Graham from behind. Muraco sees this and releases the hold and goes to the outside. Stevens runs away as Muraco helps Graham up. Graham says he's ok. Muraco gets back into the ring. Stevens walks towards Graham. Muraco is at the ropes and warns Stevens. Jumbo comes from behind, grabs Muraco and executes a bridging belly to back suplex 1..2..3! Stevens is jumping up and down celebrating. Graham is heard yelling at Stevens saying "We'll see you at Champagne Slam!" 'Lionheart' Tony St. Clair vs. 'The British Bomber' Johnny Smith w/Les Thornton It only makes sense that these two home country wrestlers would be in the main event. It's clear that St. Clair is the favorite as he gets a thundering ovation. This really irks Smith and Thornton. The match is a barnburner and the British fans are all over it. St. Clair and Smith engage in forearm and European uppercut exchanges. Each man pulls out several suplexes and slams from their arsenals. They also show off their scientific skills as well. Of course Thornton gets in a few cheap shots on St. Clair which really riles up the crowd. After 30 minutes of action, Smith hoists St. Clair on his shoulder and delivers a running powerslam 1..2..Kick Out. Smith argues with the Ref as Thornton reaches in and chokes St. Clair. Smith swings St. Clair to the ropes but misses a clothesline, St. Clair swings back and gives Smith a heels first dropkick. Thornton hops on the apron but St. Clair sends him flying with a spinning forearm blast. St. Clair picks up Smith and delivers a floating butterfly suplex. St. Clair swings off the ropes and hits a senton 1..2..3! HUGE POP! St. Clair ends the night soaking in the cheers.

AWA Major League Wrestling
AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 3-28-90 Footage from last week is shown with Hulk Hogan and Stan Hansen brawling all over the arena. Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. After what you just watched, I've been told that Hulk Hogan and Stan Hansen cannot be in the same building until Champagne Slam. Stan Hansen will be here tonight. I've been told that Hulk Hogan will be right here, next week. Well, we're only 2 weeks away from Champagne Slam. On that note, joining me now with a very special announcement regarding Champagne Slam is the AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow. Brenda Britton comes out and snatches the mic from Nelson. Britton: Hit the bricks Nelson. Nelson rolls his eyes and walks away. Britton: Hi everybody! Please welcome out the AWA C.O.O. and creator of Champagne Slam, Gerry Morrow. Morrow walks out wearing a white suit and fedora hat. Britton: Ok Gerry, Champagne Slam is going to be an amazing event. Hulk Hogan defending the AWA world title against Stan Hansen. Two AWA tag team title bouts. The arrival of Ric Flair. And of course the Champagne Challenge. Two battle royals with the winners of each battle royal, wrestling for a world title shot at the biggest event of the year, WrestleRock 90. I can't believe this, but I hear there's been a special attraction match added. Morrow: Hahahahah, yes indeed Brenda. It appears that Verne Gagne contacted his old business partner and friend, Jerry Jarrett. De conclusion to that conversation is dis. At Champagne Slam, Curt Hennig will defend de USWA title against Jerry Lawler! Britton: What! Are you serious? A USWA title match at Champagne Slam? Unbelievable! Morrow: Incredible right? I am very excited for dis match and it makes Champagne Slam even more special. Britton: Oh my! Well, as always, it all happens here with me. Until next time, tooooodles! Commercial Break King Kong Bundy w/Greg Gagne vs. Albert Reyes Bundy hits the splash and gets the 5 count. Nelson: Greg, I want you and Bundy to hear these pre recorded comments from El Canek. Canek is standing in front of an AWA banner. His promo is subtitled. Canek: Greg Gagne has failed again and again and again to rid me from wrestling. Now he sends in a monster. Yes, he broke a rib, but I'm coming back and at Champagne Slam I'm coming after Bundy with a vengeance! When I toss him over the top rope on top of Gagne, I will go on to my quest for a world title match! Nelson: Well, there you have it Greg Gagne: (laughing) Is this a joke? Does that masked moron really think he's going to eliminate King Kong Bundy? (laughs again) I'm sorry, this is just too funny. Bundy: Canek! You just received a dose of what's in store for you in the battle royal. I'm going to throw you into the front row! That world title shot is all mine! Canek wont stop me and neither will anybody else! Commercial Break An advertisement is shown for this weekend's Royal Albert Hall card in London. The Soul Patrol vs. The Jive Tones w/Tiger Conway Jr. The Soul Patrol start off strong with some textbook tag wrestling. The tide turns when Conway trips Walker. Walker stumbles into a suplex by Young. The Jive Tones control this segment and really heel it up by breaking the rules along with constant double teaming. Walker survives and makes the tag to Jones. Jones cleans house and the Soul Patrol regain control. They stereo kick Whatley and double suplex him over. Young runs in and we've got a pier six brawl. The bell rings, signaling a 10 minute draw. Tempers flare but Conway calms his team down and exits. Conway is heard saying "We've got bigger things ahead" Commercial Break Footage from last week is shown as a returning Leo Burke gives Jimmy Golden a serious beating. Leo Burke vs. Trent Watkins The fans cheer as Burke clamps on the sleeper and wins the match. Nelson: Great to have you back Leo. You look better than ever. I know you'll be in the Champagne Challenge. I have to ask. Will your hatred for Jimmy Golden be a distraction? Burke: It's great to be back Larry. I have to admit, since Golden put me out of action by piledriving me on the concrete, all I've thought about was getting my hands on him. I did that last week but I don't think it's out of my system. So, I'm going to beat him up again in the battle royal, eliminate him and then focus on the world title shot. Burke exits Nelson: I don't know fans. It seems like a lot of wrestlers might be too focused on personal grudges in the Champagne Challenge. I guess we'll see how all this plays out. Commercial Break 'The Mighty Yankee' Steve Disalvo vs. 'The Future' JW Storm These two powerhouses have traded wins on TV and all over the loop. They continue their feud tonight. They go at it hard and hit each other with everything they have. After going toe to toe and pulling out all the power moves, Disalvo takes control and clotheslines Storm down. Disalvo picks up Storm and slams him down hard. Disalvo goes to the middle ropes and crashes down with a knee drop, but Storm moves. Disalvo staggers up and limps around. Storm kicks him low and hits a swinging neckbreaker 1..2..3! Storm wins this one, but they'll see each other again in the Champagne Challenge. Commercial Break Col. Debeers vs. Frank Colletti Debeers is still quite the heat magnet. He easily wins the match with a front face piledriver. Nelson: Debeers, I know you're in the Champagne Challenge, but I have to ask, what is your current relationship with Les Thornton? You costed Tony St. Clair his match with Johnny Smith and St. Clair says your next after Smith. Debeers: It's all very simple, even for a low class peasant like you and all these untouchables out here. Mr. Thornton and I had a business arrangement. He helped me and I helped him. If Tony St. Clair has a problem with how we do business, then he can try and do something about it. But I'm not concerned with the little things. I'm concerned with winning the Champagne Challenge and getting my rightful shot at the AWA world title. That's been my mission here and I will soon accomplish that mission. Commercial Break We see a montage of the RnR Express/Destruction Crew story, followed by Champagne Slam promos. The RnR Express will defend the AWA world tag titles against the Destruction Crew at Champagne Slam. Commercial Break AWA International Champ 'The Red Rooster' Terry Taylor and the AWA National Tag Champs Latin Desire vs. Carlos Colon and The Mavericks This match is balls to the walls. It's a fast paced, roller coaster ride that keeps the fans on the edges of their seats. The Mavericks are still pissed at Latin Desire for nailing them with the title belts last week and it shows in this match. Colon and Taylor get in some nice exchanges. Colon frustrates Taylor and Taylor quickly tags out to Lou. Lou comes in as Colon tags in Embry. Embry is all over Lou. Al runs in but Young runs in and drops him with a punch. Taylor tries to enter but Colon takes care of him. Embry clamps a headlock on Lou, punches him several times on the head and executes a running bulldog 1..2..3! BIG POP! Commercial Break Nelson: (deep breath) At Champagne Slam, Hulk Hogan will defend the AWA world title against this man, Stan Hansen. Hansen storms down the aisle waving his bull rope and cowbell around. He enters the ring and pushes Nelson down, then grabs the mic. Hansen: Hogan! Get ready boy! At Champagne Slam, I'm going give you an ass whipp'n you'll never forget! I don't play mind games and I tell it like it is! Nobody has beaten me in the AWA and you certainly wont. That means the world title will be mine! So why don't you go back to making stupid little movies and let a real man like me defend the world title! At Champagne Slam, I'm walking out with the world title and there aint a damn thing anybody can do about it! Hansen throws the mic down and flashes the bullhorn sign

Man I can't wait for the Bossman/Nailz explosive match up Love the split screen promos. Quick and effective. Santana and Bravo might steal the show at Mania Looks like Warrior wont have to worry about Zeus at Mania. We'll see if Slick can get out of this jam. I'm liking the Samoan Headhunters. Hopefully they get on the Mania card Looks like someone big and bad is coming to the WWF Silver King and Prichard get in some nice showcases The Free for All is a nice little added bonus to bring in some Mania buys Bees get a big win over Badd Co. I could watch these teams wrestle over and over. The Road to Mania has been an exciting ride.

Memphis Wrestling
Grappler says there's only room for one mask man while Orndorff says he has the best piledriver. I love these seeds being planted. Poor Chris Von Erich doesn't get a warm welcome into pro wrestling. I'm sure this will fire up Kerry for a shot at Hennig. Once again Rogers gets under the skin of an opponent. This time it's Sam Houston. Budro gets blasted with the discus punch. Dirty Dutch better have Gaylord's money The Southern Boys have to be considered tournament favorites Prop to Fuller. The man can still generate heat Dundee takes advantage of the distraction and retains Great way to introduce the Kentucky Cup winners. These guys get some good buzz by embarrassing the Freebirds. Doesn't hurt to have Doom on your side either. The Lawler/Savage/Gilbert/Slater story keeps getting better. The slow burn with Slater has been so well done.
