  1. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 10-22-86 Show opens with footage from 2 weeks ago when Carlos Colon snapped and attacked Steamboat. That's followed by last week's comments from both men. Jerry Jarrett is sitting in his office with a SuperClash poster behind him. Jarrett: As you all know, the AWA will present SuperClash on November 26th at the St. Paul Civic Center. This extravaganza will also be available on closed circuit TV throughout all AWA arenas. During the past week, myself, Verne Gagne and members of the AWA board have decided that at SuperClash, Ricky Steamboat will defend the AWA world title against Carlos Colon. Furthermore, next week from Minnesota, there will be a press conference involving both Steamboat and Colon, along with several members from the media. The AWA is very excited about SuperClash and it promises to be the event of the year. Brenda Britton will be on later with another SuperClash update. Enjoy tonight's show. Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Well you just heard the blockbuster announcement. I for one am very interested in hearing comments from both Steamboat and Colon at next week's press conference. Last week you heard Steamboat tell Colon, he will get another shot. Well, that shot takes place at SuperClash. We've got a big show lined up tonight. 2 more opening round National tag title tournament matches. Greg Gagne and Scott Putski will have a rematch and if Putski wins, he will get a TV title shot. Also on the program will be Nick Bockwinkle, The Dream Machine, Jerry Blackwell, Curt Hennig, Ox Baker's entire stable will be in 6 man action. And El Canek returns from his tour of Mexico. That and a lot more, so lets get to the ring. El Canek vs. Neil Jordan Canek shows off both his wrestling skills and power. Canek swings Jordan to the ropes and hits a sidewalk slam. Canek presses Jordan above his head and drops him with a Military Press Slam/Backbreaker for the win! Canek looks into the camera and yells " Voy por ti Haystacks!" Commercial Break 1st Round National Tag Team Title Tournament Match Gold Standard vs. Karachi Vice Gold Standard start off hot as they use their strength and power. Kiniski swings Gama to the ropes and back drops him, then tags in Kelly. Gold Standard swing Gama to the ropes and put him down with a double back elbow smash. Makhan charges in but Gold Standard double scoop slams him down. Kelly hits a standing leg drop on Gama but the Ref is guiding Kiniski to his corner. Makhan goes for a cheap shot but Kelly kicks him, picks up Gama and knocks their heads together. Gama spins around and gets punched by Kiniski (from the apron) Kelly clamps a Full Nelson on Gama and twirls him around. Makhan charges and nails Kelly with a forearm blast to the back of the head. Kiniski runs in but the Ref guides him back which allows Makhan to drag Gama to the corner. Makhan tags himself in. Kelly staggers up as Makhan clotheslines him down 1..2..Kick Out. Makhan swings Kelly into the corner and charges in but Kelly moves, dives over and tags in Kiniski. Kiniski's on fire as he hammers away on Makhan and dropkicks him down. Gama runs in and gets dropkicked down. Makhan staggers up, Kiniski grabs him and quickly cradles him 1..2..Gama breaks it. Kelly runs in and pounds away on Gama. The Ref grabs Kelly and guides him back. Kiniski picks up Makhan but Gama runs over and clips him behind the knee. Makhan falls on top as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..(Gama gets up as Kelly mows him over) 3! Kelly realizes what just happened. He picks up Makhan and swings him into Gama, which sends them tumbling through the ropes. Kelly checks on Kiniski while glaring out at Karachi Vice. Karachi Vice advances. Commercial Break Nick Bockwinkle vs. Sam Smith Bock is aggressive tonight as he works over Smith's leg before finishing him off with an Indian Deathlock. Resnick: Nick Bockwinkle, another tremendous win. Bock: Of course it was. Right now one could say, I'm not in the best of moods. I was in line for another shot at the AWA world title but was told I would have to wait because Mr. Steamboat is at home healing his injured neck. Mr. Steamboat, life is hard when you're a champion. If you cannot take it then do the right thing and relinquish the title. Resnick: Come on now, that's a bit unfair. Bock: What's unfair is the severe lack of competition here in the AWA. It's laughable. A man of my caliber should be in world title contention at all times. I would hardly call the competition here world title worthy. I will need to revaluate things until proper competition comes my way. My time should not be wasted. Good day. Commercial Break The camera zooms in on the glowing "SuperClash" sign then pans down to Brenda Britton. Britton: Hi everybody and welcome to another SuperClash update hosted by yours truly. Well looks like that attention craving Jerry Jarrett already revealed the big main event. I'm going to have a long talk with him about stealing my spotlight. How dare he do that. Anyways, at SuperClash, Ricky Steamboat will defend the AWA world title against Carlos Colon. I do have to say, that is a blockbuster of a main event. If you ask me, I should host that press conference next week. As I told you last week, the earth shattering rematch between El Canek and Giant Haystacks has also been signed. I've also been told that the winners of the SuperClash tag team battle royal wont have to wait long for their world title opportunity. Because they will receive their shot that night at SuperClash! That's great but I hope they're satisfied with the prize money because I don't think they're going to beat my favorite team Priceless. I'm calling that right now. Also signed for SuperClash will be Curt Hennig taking on Brian Adias. Things have gotten heated between the two former world tag team champions. I understand this next match is a special challenge match as Don Kernodle issued a challenge to Iceman Parsons. Parsons accepted so the match is official. I wonder what's going on there? I promise more matches to be announced next week. And don't forget, singing the National Anthem will be none other than Linda Ronstadt. The AWA finally got a celebrity almost as big as me. Ok, until next week, toooodles. Commercial Break TV Champ "The Great" Gagne w/Johnny Valiant vs. Scott "Powerhouse" Putski If Putski wins, he gets a TV title shot Gagne is a bit more focused tonight as he outwrestles Putski in the opening minutes. It didn't take long for Gagne to start showing his arrogance. Gagne clamps on a headlock and starts slapping the top of Putski's head. Valiant applauds him as Gagne nods and smiles. The smile disappears as Putski hoists Gagne up and executes a back suplex. The fans go wild and cheer Putski on. Both men rise, Gagne swings but Putski ducks and atomic drops Gagne. Gagne staggers as Putski clotheslines him over the top rope. Valiant runs over and comforts Gagne while yelling up at Putski. Putski goes to the outside. Valiant gets in his face then slaps him! Putski grabs Valiant by his shirt. Gagne charges over with a flying knee but Putski moves as Gagne nails Valiant. Putski regains his composure and rolls back in the ring as the Ref hits 10! Putski jumps up and down with excitement as the fans cheer. Putski gets a TV title shot! Commercial Break Resnick: How about that! Scott Putski just earned himself a TV title shot. Neither Gagne or Valiant seemed happy. Fans, this weekend at the Auditorium in Milwaukee, you'll see match 4 between the Fabulous Ones and Rock n Roll Express. As you know last week in Louisville, RNR brought home on victory. The Fabs now lead 2-1. The Dream Machine takes on Blackjack Mulligan. And Jerry Lawler will take on the 3rd opponent of Austin Idol's choosing. If Lawler wins, we will indeed get a National title shot. Coming out now is the AWA National Champ Austin Idol. Boos as Idol comes out and gives the camera a bicep shot while holding the title up with his other arm. Resnick: Ok, Austin, Lawler's beaten 2 of your picks. Myself and the fans want to know, who's your 3rd pick? Idol: You know Resnick, there's an old saying, if you want something done right then darling, you've got to do it yourself! Loser Lawler! I said you weren't getting another shot and brother you're not. I can guarantee that. (Looks at Resnick) You know why? Resnick: No, why? Idol: Of course you don't. Because I'm his next opponent! That's right! If there's one man who can prevent that loser from getting a shot at my title, it's me! Lawler you're through! Commercial Break "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell vs. Trent Watkins Blackwell hits a Samoan drop, gets up, swings off the ropes and hits a big splash for the pin! Blackwell gets up and acknowledges the cheers. WHAM! He's nailed from behind by KERRY BROWN! Kerry's hands are heavily taped as he pounds away on Blackwell. Kerry is relentless with his punches and opens up Blackwell's head. Kerry hurls Blackwell out of the ring. Kerry goes out, picks up Blackwell and rams him face first into the steel post! Blackwell's a bloody mess as officials run out. Kerry walks over to Resnick. Kerry: The Pitbull is here! Commercial Break The viewers see the AWA World tag team champs, Priceless sitting on their yacht. They're wearing shorts, sunglasses and fedora hats. A table sits between them with several bottles of champagne. Morrow finishes a bottle and throws it out on the water. Wells: Gerry, it's great to be on top of the world isn't it? Morrow: HAHAHA indeed it is. As all you poor untouchables can see, we are living de life of luxury. I understand we have a commitment to defend these titles by next week. Wells: Defend them we will. They both toast and laugh. Morrow: We are de champs and we call de shots. So next week on TV we will return to de ring for a title defense. Until then. Wells gulps his champagne and throws his bottle out in the water. Commercial Break Footage from the Louisville Gardens is shown as Billy Jack Haynes, Ox Baker and The Beasts of Burden brutally attack Jimmy Snuka. Jimmy Snuka is standing on screen with his entire face covered with bandages. Snuka: I just got out of the hospital. Haynes! Ox! Beasts! You put me there! You did this to my face! But this is not over! NO! It's only the beginning. Cabin Fever walk into view. Boone: The 3 of us have scores to settle! Manny: Ox Baker, you and your goons like to beat people up. Yea, you got the 3 of us pretty damn good. But the 3 of us are still standing! Let's see how tough you boys really are. SuperClash! We want all 4 of you in a match! A tornado streetfight daddy! Come on boys, there's 4 of you and only 3 of us. Do you have the guts to do this face to face? Back Live Billy Jack and The Beasts of Burden w/Ox Baker vs. Vic Dutro, Willie Lopez and Clinton Stitch Nothing but a chaotic and crazy squash. Beasts hit stereo boots on Lopez and then Billy finishes him off with a full nelson. Post match, the Beasts annihilate Stitch and Dutro. Billy holds up Lopez as Ox puts him down with a heart punch! Lopez is stretchered out. Resnick: (Very nervous) You guys just heard the challenge made for SuperClash. Do you accept. Ox looks like he wants to give Resnick a heart punch. Resnick hands him the mic and walks away. Ox: Snuka! Cabin Fever! I knew you were stupid but you've outdone yourselves. How many beatings does it take? Well, we'll gladly give you another. And after Billy Jack and my Beasts break every bone in your bodies, I'm going to send you all out with a heart punch! I hope your medical insurance is up to date. Commercial Break Curt Hennig vs. Todd Rooney Hennig shows off his wrestling arsenal before winning the match with a fisherman's suplex. Resnick: Curt Hennig, it's official. You'll be taking on your former partner Brian Adias at SuperClash. Let's not forget, he does have a win over you. Hennig: Oh very funny Rezhead. That was nothing but a fluke. Come SuperClash, that far from awesome Brian Adias is going to know what it's like being in the ring with a gifted and flawless wrestler. I'm going to embarrass and humiliate him in front of millions. I'm the true superstar in the AWA and don't you (polks his finger in Resnick's chest), Adias or anybody else forget that! Hennig storms off. Resnick: Ok, our next opening round.... Dream Machine and Paul Jones storm out. Dream is swinging a bull rope around. Jones: Mulligan! You think you're the only one who can swing a bull rope around? Dream: Looky here, I got one to! This weekend in Milwaukee babay, you're going to get a taste of this! Jones: Nobody threatens Paul Jones! Nobody! Commercial Break 1st Round National Tag Team Tournament match The Bruise Brothers vs. "The Ace" Art Crews and "Diamond" Timothy Flowers w/The Vin Man Pretty good hard hitting seesaw battle. Bruise take control when Cash sends Flowers flying with a jumping headbutt. Cash tags in Snowman. Flowers hobbles up as Snowman drops him with a flying shoulder tackle 1..2..Crews drops a knee on Snowman. Cash sends Crews through the ropes with a running forearm blast. Bruise Brothers swing Flowers to the ropes and double back drop him. Snowman hoists Flowers on his shoulder but Vinnie reaches in and trips Snowman. Cash runs around the ring and chases Vinnie but Crews pops up and clotheslines Cash. Crews gets in the ring. Him and Flowers pick Snowman up and hot shot him on the top rope. Flowers tags in Crews. Crews crashes down with a knee drop from the middle ropes 1..2..Snowman gets his shoulder up. An Irate Crews pushes Snowman in the corner. Crews stomps away as Flowers chokes him. Crews hits a vertical suplex on Snowman then tags in Flowers. Crews holds up Snowman as Flowers nails him with a double axehandle from the top rope 1..2..Cash dives in and makes the save. Crews comes in but Cash punches away, swings him to the ropes and hits his diving crossbody/headbutt! Flowers picks up Snowman but Snowman blasts him with several punches. Vinnie gets on the apron but Cash runs over and punches him off. Snowman hoists a stumbling Flowers up and hits a snake eyes on the top turnbuckle 1..2..3! Huge pop! The Bruise Brothers advance. Commercial Break Resnick: Ok, the Semi finals are set. Next week, Larry Z and Al Perez will take on the Olympians. The following week, The Bruise Brothers will meet Karachi Vice. Those should be some fantastic matches. Of course the finals will take place at SuperClash. Fans before we go, please welcome out Jerry "The King" Lawler. Huge pop as Lawler walks out smiling. Resnick: Jerry, you heard him. Your 3rd and final obstacle for a National title shot will be against the champ himself Austin Idol. Lawler: idol, you never were very bright. I not only get to beat you once but I get to beat you again for the National title. If you think you can stop me, you've got another thing coming. After Milwaukee you have no more excuses. You're going down Idol and then the National title is all mine! SuperClash St. Paul Civic Center, Nov. 26th Available on Closed Circuit TV National Anthem performed by Linda Ronstadt AWA World Title Bout Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (C) vs. Carlos Colon El Canek vs. Giant Haystacks Curt Hennig vs. Brian Adias Tornado Street Fight! Special Challenge Match Iceman Parsons vs. "Number One" Don Kernodle More Matches to be announced
  2. Have I told you how much I love Busick's Spinebuster slam. OMG takes down young double J. Severn and Finlay is a brawl for sure. That was an impressive moveset by Candido to put Tanaka away. Brigade gets another confidence building win over Gary Hart's men. One of my favorite champions in the game (Tracy Smothers) retains. What a great run he's having.
  3. MACW is rock'n the house show loops! Gaylord continues to rise the ladder. His spear is no joke. YES! Whatley and Conway are together again!!! I loved this team IRL and love this team in our game. Whoever booked the Road Warriors vs. Assassins and Sullivan vs. Stevens deserves a raise. These matches would of been a blast to watch. WOW! Renegade Warriors arrive and within days they are the NEW Mid Atlantic tag champs! Beating the Rougeau's is a huge accomplishment, especially after their epic heel run. The Renegade Warriors are over with the fans before they even get on TV. Great job!
  4. Avenger takes down another Army member. Adams hate for Chris costs Vic the match. Vic gives Brian a talk and they part as friends. Will these old rivals form an alliance? Hector pulls out a nice finish for the victory. Is Pillman next? Black Gold keep racking up the wins. Thundercats try to fight fire with fire but the Midnight's were one step ahead. Windham shows off his intensity with that win over Miller. Rose gets the DQ win but St. Clair sends him running. LOL, good way to end the night.
  5. HAHAHAHA! What a way to start the night as Pride gets over both Slink and Madril. This catapults Pride to another level. Zenk and Taylor get a nice win over Sherri's Super D's. Sherri gets her heat back quick and helps Prichard retain. At least Welch can always count on family to lift his spirits. Jason gives Cooley quite a beatdown with his axe. Nightmares get the win but those Desperados got out of there quick. One way or another those Desperados are going to get those lashes. 6 man elimination brought the heat. Oh man, Slick with the Stud Stable? Continental will never be the same. Street and Poffo tear the house down! I loved the write up here. From the weird and uncomfortable bantering to one hard hitting blood bath. Story telling at its best. Great finish as Street sends Poffo packing. The visual of Man carrying out Poffo was icing on the cake. That's how you blow a feud off. YES! Olympia is back! NO! Abdullah is here! What a shocking ending. Chicky's corporation has now taken out Dusty, JYD and Olympia. The Rich's have serious competition for top heel heat. WOW!
  6. I think Bleh is on to something. A Tommy Rich NWA world title run in this game would be nothing short of epic!
  7. Pacific is defiantly the place for TNT. Pillman takes out Mando. I'm looking forward to another Pillman/Hector match. A lot at stake between the Midnight's and Brits. YES! San Diego Battleground is coming! Props to Cornette, the man can talk. Crazy Gang wins a battle tonight but more to come in San Diego. Young Douglas looks impressive but the champ pulls it out. Can't wait to find out who Rose is defending against in San Diego.
  8. AWA releases Tony Garea and Rene Goulet AWA picks up Dave Taylor, Gene Ligon and Barry O
  9. AWA @ The Louisville Gardens 10-17-86 Steve O defeated Tom Stone with a flying body press The Dream Machine w/Paul Jones defeated Tony Garea with a jumping elbow drop- After the match, Jones threw Dream a bullrope. Dream proceeded to hang Garea over the top rope. Massive heat for Dream and Jones. The Bruise Brothers and Iceman Parsons defeated "Diamond" Tim Flowers, "The Ace" Art Crews and The Vin Man- During a pier six brawl, Snowman hit a running powerslam on Vinnie to get the pin! Nick Bockwinkle defeated "Iron" Scott McGhee- Bock slammed McGhee's leg into the steel post then followed up with an Indian Deathlock for the submission victory. After the match, Bock grabbed the house mic and reminded everybody that he is in fact the number one world title contender. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka defeated Billy Jack Haynes w/Ox Baker- Ox was on the apron as Snuka pushed Haynes into him and rolled him up for the win. The celebration was short lived because The Beasts of Burden hit the ring and attacked Snuka. Haynes and Ox joined in. Ox held up Snuka as Haynes put a chair in front of his face. The Beasts then nailed Snuka with stereo boots, smashing the chair in his face! They left Snuka a bloody mess. Match 3 of the Best of 7 series- Fabs lead 2-0 The Fabulous Ones vs. The Rock n Roll Express Once again these teams steal the show with a high energy roller coaster match. After 40 minutes, both teams are in the ring brawling. The Fabs get the upper hand and swing RnR to the ropes and go for back drops but Gibson kicks Lane as Morton sunset flips over Keirn 1..2..3! Jerry "The King" Lawler vs. "The Wrecking Machine" Richard Charland w/Gino Brito Jr. Brito and Charland promised Austin Idol, Lawler wouldn't make it to a National Title shot. Charland came out swinging and had Lawler in trouble several times. Brito made sure he got his shots in. The finish came when Charland swing Lawler into the corner and charged in but Lawler moved. Charland staggered back into a German Suplex by Lawler 1..2..3! Brito ran in to protest but Lawler punched him through the ropes. 2 down and 1 to go for a National Title shot. AWA National Title Bout "The Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol (C) vs. "Rugged" Ron Garvin Obviously Idol is distracted by Lawler's win because he can't seem to get it together against Garvin. Garvin is all over Idol and gets several near falls on him. Garvin slams Idol and follows up with the Garvin stomp. Garvin backs up and kisses his hand. Idol staggers up and Garvin nails Idol with his knockout punch! Idol stumbles back and through the ropes. The Ref is keeping Garvin from going out after him. Finally as the Ref starts his count, Idol pulls a pair of brass knuckles out of his tights. Idol slowly gets on the apron. Garvin charges over. Idol takes a swing but Garvin ducks and back suplexes Idol back into the ring but while in the air, Idol punches down on Garvin's head with the brass knuckles. Garvin collapses with idol on top 1..2..3! Massive boos. But wait! Here comes Jerry Lawler! Lawler is telling the Ref what happened. They're in an intense conversation. While Idol is taking off his brass knuckles, Lawler goes over and grabs his arm, then shows the Ref. The fans go crazy as the Ref reverses his decision and awards the match to Garvin via DQ. Idol throws a tantrum and goes after Lawler but Lawler tags him with several Memphis punches and sends him flying with a big right punch. Idol rolls out of the ring, grabs his title and runs off. Lawler helps up Garvin and raises his arm. Winner of the match by DQ- Ron Garvin. However. Austin Idol remains National Champ.
  10. Bassarab gets the night going with an electrifying win. Barbarian had one of the best big boot finishes in the business. Brutha's and El Santo score some pretty big wins. Nothing solved between Luger and Sullivan Nobody gets up from the Russian Sickle! Not the best move for the Assassin. Dream match main event! Finally JJ's shoe tactic backfires. Fans go home very happy.
  11. Man, even though I knew it was coming, it's still hard to accept what happened to Magnum. It was such a tragedy that his spectacular career was cut short in his prime. I'm glad this game gave him the world title run and respect he so deserved, Welch arrives and wants one last Jr. title run. Interesting chat with his cousins. I wonder who he's bringing in for them? Will JYD's comments bring back Mr. Olympia? Cobra debuts. I think we have a Jr. title contender. LOL, don't tell Brenda Britton, but is there a better segment than the Fiesta Garden? Comedic gold as Bruno introduces Billy Joe Travis. Travis really made this gimmick work. This is going to be a lot of fun. I cracked up at imagining Slink having to watch all this. Lucky lotto winner Nelson Royal. Well luck ran out as Taylor retains with the backslide. Sherri still believes in Adonis. I can only imagine how Adonis will be reinvented. 2 ring battle royal on TV! Tommy Rich and Brad Armstrong win spots in the incredibly stacked Halloween Havoc greatest tournament of all time. Next stop, Montgomery.
  12. Right off the bat I have to give you major props on building one heck of a tag team division. Akbar kicks the show off with his debuting Dogs of War. Perfect place for Hellwig to gain some valuable experience. Nothing like a hometown boy for the fans to get behind. Regal has spent a lot of time in this game as a heel so this will give him a fresh coat of paint. The tag team tournament is stacked. Liked the explanation of the changes. Nice play on the history. Oh man how I missed Good and Plenty! The Fabulous Blondes vignettes have been one of my favorite segments. YES! Duggan vs. Herc has been signed! WHOA! Sawyer and Borne together! They sent out a vicious message. To the Spartan Sports Center, The brutality of Sawyer and Borne continues. Can anyone stop these guys? Great showing for Sabu as he gets a big win over a very credible Joe Lightfoot. I was honestly worried about the Glamor Boys but they score a nice win over the Dogs of War. LOL, Akbar was pissed. Highwaymen get their payback on the Youngblood's. That dreaded mist strikes again. Looks like a feud coming between Regal and Kazaharu. NICE! Good and Plenty advance over Los Cubanos. The Islanders almost spoil the Blondes debut but clever Chick Donovan holds on tight to get the win. Damn! Duggan and Herc give the fans a fight! Their matches are going to pack the houses. Florida puts out a successful first event. The Briscos will be busy counting money.
  13. I agree with Bob Caudle. Halloween Havoc is shaping up to be the event of a lifetime. I still can't believe the talent involved. I also love the hype for the battle royal. Adds even more importance on the tournament. I think you're on to something with Gaylord. Give him a string of squash matches to get him over. He has the look to make this work. Lol, the horsemen are living life and chilling on the beach. Well, their partying and relaxing seems to be working for them. Interns win the battle of masked teams. Exact opposite of the Horsemen video as we see Nikita training in the snow. Very intimidating. Kevin Sullivan always knew how to give one evil promo. Dan Spivey lives up to his 'Dangerous' moniker. JR Foley is doing some great work here. With all the heel factions, he's certainly hanging in there with them. Richmond is in for a great night of action. Road Warriors end the show with a devastating win over Brutha's in arms. Great show!
  14. Velvet is on a roll of a lifetime. I like the little things like pushing VIP tickets. Gives the show a big time feeling. All sorts of fun chaos in the tag match. Glamour Girls get the win and want a title shot. Nice touch with the heel/face pairings. Something different and cool. Richter once again gets the fall. I can't wait for Moretti vs. Richter! I've said it before but man what could of been if the Woman had a platform like this in the 80s.
  15. Stallion found out the hard way, you mess with one Alaskan Hunter, you mess with both. Swerve of the Century! It's not the Express but it's the RPMS! Oh man I bet that crowd was pissed! Monster heat! Masked Superstars keep Adnan's streak going. Oliver wants that bounty money bad but so does Tojo and Kendo. Murdoch takes down Leroy with a chair. Ladd's " fix was in" line was a nice touch. Bad night for Ladd as his interference costs Allen the match. Wild 6 man tag ends the night. LOL, a money loaded purse sure wont take Gordy down. Sunshine gets some satisfying shots on Precious. Gordy not only gets the win but goes home with a lot of cash. Great stuff!
  16. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 10-14-86 Footage from last week is shown as Carlos Colon shocks the world and brutally attacks AWA world champ Ricky Steamboat. Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight you will see 2 opening round matches in the National Tag Team tournament. Also in action tonight will be Iceman Parsons, Brian Adias, Richard Charland, Billy Jack Haynes, Don Kernodle, Ron Garvin and Blackjack Mulligan. I understand National Champ Austin Idol will be out here to announce his next handpicked opponent for Jerry Lawler. Brenda Britton will host our first SuperClash update. Fans, last week I witnessed one of the most shocking events ever when Carlos Colon attacked Ricky Steamboat. I'm still speechless over it. I just couldn't believe what I had seen. Right now I'm going to take you to ringside to Ken Resnick. We're hoping to get some kind of answer from Colon on why he did what he did. Over to you Ken. Resnick: (Somber mood) Thank you Lance. First I want to say that Ricky Steamboat spent a couple days in the hospital for his injuries and X-rays. I understand we'll be hearing from Ricky a little bit later, while he's at home resting. I was just as shocked as everybody else. I hope to get some answers from this man, Carlos Colon. Colon comes out looking intense and serious. He stops and looks around at all the fans booing him. He shakes his head in disbelief and walks over to Resnick. Resnick: Carlos, I...I just have one question...why? Colon: (Staring a hole through Resnick) I've spent the last 2 years of my life spilling my blood across arenas in the USWA and then the AWA! Hercules Ayala, Mark Lewin, Abdullah the Butcher, Kamala, Curtis Iaukea and Tiger Jeet Singh! I fought monsters, heathens and blood thirsty savages! They wanted to destroy me, put me out of commission. I defeated them all and ran them out of town! I was battered, beaten, bruised and injured but I stood up to all of them to protect the fans and this promotion. And what did I get in return? Nothing! Not even one thank you. I had to come out here and beg for a title shot. Then that pathetic Jerry Jarrett gives me a 10 minute title opportunity. A joke! I was disrespected! When that bell rang and the time was up, that's when it really hit me. If you want something in this dark business, you have to just take it! I did exactly what I had to do to Ricky Steamboat. And now everybody cries for him. Did anybody cry for me in the last 2 years? NO! Now it is my time! Ricky Steamboat, you have something I want and that is the AWA world title. I promise you, I am going to take it and by any means necessary! That is all I have to say at this time! Colon storms off as Resnick stands there in stunned silence. Commercial Break Iceman Parsons vs. Neil Jordan Iceman does a great job of getting the fans energized again. He's high energy tonight and wins the match with his booty bump! Resnick: Iceman Parsons, no matter where you go, you seem to have no problem connecting with these fans. Parsons: What can I say. I love having a good time and giving these great fans a show. But I'll tell you what, when that bell rings, I get the job done. Have mercy! Commercial Break "Number One" Don Kernodle vs. Vic Dutro Kernodle is all business as he works over Dutro. Kernodle hits a jaw breaker, then hoists Dutro up and finishes him off with a Fireman's Carry Slam! Resnick: Don Kernodle, it's been awhile since we've seen you. Obviously you haven't lost a step in the ring. So what brings you to the AWA? Kernodle gives Resnick a disgusted look, shakes his head and walks away. Resnick: (Puzzled) Don? Ok, well, coming up next is an opening round tournament match for the National Tag Team titles. Commercial Break 1st Round National Tag Team Tournament Match Larry Zbyszko and Al Perez vs. Lightning Strike (Tin Horner and Jerry Allen) Lightning Strike controls the first segment with quick tags and high octane offense. The tide turns when Larry (from the apron) nails Horner with a knee to the back as Perez follows with a forearm blast. Perez and Larry are in synch and work over Horner for awhile. Perez and Larry swing Horner to the ropes and go for a double clothesline but Horner ducks, swings back and puts them both down with a dropkick. Horner dives over and tags in Allen! Allen has Perez and Larry bumping all over with hip tosses and dropkicks. Allen back drops Perez and Perez rolls out of the ring. Allen continues to work over Larry. Perez runs around the ring, grabs Horner's legs and yanks him down. Perez grabs Horner and slams his head on the apron. Allen body slams Larry, then swings off the ropes but Perez reaches in and trips him. Allen staggers, turns around and charges towards Perez. Larry sneaks up and nails Allen with a karate kick to the back of the head. Larry picks up Allen and executes a swinging neckbreaker 1..2..3! Larry Z and Al Perez will advance. Commercial Break "The Wrecking Machine" Richard Charland w/Gino Brito Jr. vs. Gary Williams Charland is his usual aggressive self as he demolishes his opponent before finishing him off with an inverted piledriver. Commercial Break Resnick: Fans, I'm standing here with the AWA National Champ Austin Idol. Idol, last week in Jackson, Jerry Lawler defeated your first handpicked opponent Jose Estrada. I understand, you have his second opponent picked for this weekend in the Louisville Gardens. And lets not forget, also in Louisville, you'll be defending the National title against Ron Garvin. A victory by Garvin could throw a wrench in everything. Idol: Are you some kind of stooge? I told you last week Ron Garvin isn't going to take my title, so get real darling. Now, that loser Lawler was damn lucky to get by El Jefe last week. Well he wont be so lucky this week in Louisville. You know why? Resnick: No why? Idol: Of course you don't. Because he's going to be facing not just a man but a wrecking machine. Boos as Charland and Brito come back out. Brito: Austin Idol, I can assure you Jerry Lawler will not only fall to defeat but he'll be lucky to walk out of Louisville. Charland: Lawler! If you thought Estrada was tough just wait until I get a hold of you! Charland bumps Resnick on his way out. Idol: (Laughing) He's one tough customer isn't he? Lawler! Darling, kiss your title shot goodbye! Commercial Break Blackjack Mulligan vs. Clinton Stitch Mulligan storms the ring, pounds away on Clinton, swings him to the ropes and hits the diving back elbow smash 1..2..3! Mulligan grabs his bullrope, swings it around and heads to ringside. Resnick: Very impressive win Blackjack Mulligan. After what happened in Jackson, I'm sure you have unfinished business with Dream Machine and Paul Jones. Mulligan: (Gripping his bullrope) Dream Machine! We're far from over but right now I have a warning for Paul Jones. Boy, if you ever interfere in my match again, I'm going to beat you down like the dog you are and I'll choke the life out of you with this here bullrope! Commercial Break "Lonestar" Brian Adias vs. Todd Rooney Adias comes out wearing Texas flag colored wrestling pants. He also seems to be getting some cheers. Adias looks crisp tonight and gets a decisive victory with a Russian legsweep. WHAM! He's nailed from behind by CURT HENNIG! Curt swings Adias to the ropes and puts him down with his Axe forearm blast. Curt puts the boots to Adias, hoists him up and hits a Fisherman's Suplex. Curt stands up and looks down at Adias with a satisfying look. Commercial Break Brenda Britton is standing in front of a glowing SuperClash sign. Britton: Hi everybody and welcome to the first AWA SuperClash update. Of course for an event of this magnitude, there was only one person who could host these Superclash specials. That would be yours truly. SuperClash will take place on Friday November 26th at the St. Paul Civic Center in Minneapolis. This tremendous event will also be broadcasted on closed circuit TV all across the AWA arenas. I can tell you right now, all the AWA titles will be defended that night. Which means my best friends Priceless will be there. I can also tell you there will be a special tag team battle royal. The winners will receive 100,000 dollars and a future shot at the AWA world tag team titles. Now, listen to this giant match signed. El Canek will face Giant Haystacks in the rematch we've all been waiting for. I know I'm looking forward to that showdown. More matches will be announced in the weeks to come. But that's not all. Oh no no no no. Are you ready for this? Singing the National Anthem at SuperClash will be none other than the sensational Grammy award winning artist Linda Ronstadt! That's right! Finally a star on my level. I can't wait! Well until the next SuperClash update, toooodles. Commercial Break "Rugged" Ron Garvin vs. William Hillman Garvin puts Hillman down with the knockout punch and it's all over. Resnick: Ron Garvin, huge opportunity for you this weekend in Louisville as you get a crack at Austin Idol and his national title. Garvin: You know it seems Austin Idol is looking past me and underestimating me a bit. Big mistake. Listen up Idol, I'm coming for you and your National title so you better get your head right or it's going to get knocked off. Commercial Break Footage from last week is shown as Scott Putski upsets Greg Gagne in a non title bout. Resnick: (Smiling) My guests at this time are Johnny Valiant along with TV champ The Great Gagne. Valiant: Wipe that smile off your face Resnick! This man is the greatest wrestler and TV champion to ever step foot in that ring, bar none! Last week somebody asked me to rank The Great Gagne on a scale from 1 to 10. I gave him a 50! That's how great he is! Tell them champ! Gagne: What happened last week was merely a fluke. Straight up, plain and simple. That greenhorn couldn't ever do that again. No way. Resnick: In my mind, he deserves a TV title shot. Valiant: Your pea sized brain doesn't know anything, so shut your mouth. Gagne: A fluke win doesn't deserve a title shot. However, I'm more than a fair man. So I'll tell you what. I'll wrestle that greenie next week and if he can beat me, (laughs) I'll give him a title shot. Valiant: Not only is The Great One a fair man but he's a true gentlemen which is more than I can say for you Resnick! Valiant and Gagne exit. Resnick: (Shaking his head) I think young Scott Putski just might surprise them. Ok, switching gears, this weekend in Louisville, Match 3 will take place between the Rock n Roll Express and Fabulous Ones. Joining me now are the Fabs. Gentlemen, you're ahead 2-0 and that's quite an accomplishment. However, last week RnR said it's far from over and don't count them out. Keirn: To late, we've already counted them out. Come on Resnick, they can't beat us once let alone four times. Lane: I think it's safe to say, that we've already proven our point. We are the greatest tag team in wrestling. The next 2 matches will be just a formality. Fabs high five each other and exit. Billy Jack Haynes w/Ox Baker vs. Paul Glader Billy destroys his opponent before finishing him off with the full nelson! Resnick: A couple of weeks ago you two attacked Jimmy Snuka. Well this weekend in Louisville, he'll be back in action against you Billy Jack Haynes. Ox: I guess Snuka is as dumb as he looks. Snuka! You're going to hurt and you're going to hurt bad! Billy Jack Haynes is going to pummel you from one end if the ring to the other. Just look at this specimen. Billy gives a trap flex and yells. Billy: This weekend spells the end for you Snuka! Commercial Break 1st Round National Tag Team Tournament match The Olympians vs. The Union This feud has been brewing and here they are meeting in the 1st round. The bell rings and fists fly! The Ref let's them go for a bit as the two teams hammer away on each other. Rheingans knocks Ross through the ropes. Bill military presses Huber over his head and slams him down as Rheingans follows with a knee drop. The Ref finally gets order. Rheingans works over Huber with a variety of suplexes, then tags in Bill. Bill hoists Huber up and just slams him down, then follows with a big elbow drop 1..2..Ross kicks Bill. Rheingans runs in but the Ref guides him back. Bill staggers up as Ross puts him down with a combat boot kick! Ross goes back to his corner. Huber slowly crawls over and covers 1..2..Rheingans pulls Huber off. The Ref guides Rheingans back which allows Ross to come in. Him and Huber pick Bill up and double suplex him. Huber officially tags in Ross. Ross swings Bill to their corner. Huber chokes Bill while Ross puts the boots to him. Ross slams Bill as Huber crashes down with a knee drop from the top rope. The Union hoist Bill up and throat drop him on the top rope. The Ref gets Ross back to his corner. Huber picks up Bill, swings him to the ropes but Bill just bulldozers through him and shoulder blocks him down. Bill swings off the ropes, dives over and tags in Rheingans. Rheingans swings Huber to the ropes and hip toss/slams him down. Ross runs in and gets the same. Bill gets in there, grabs Ross, runs with him and hurls him over the top rope. The Ref is once again trying to get control. On the outside, Ross grabs his flag and goes to the top rope. Rheingans hits a gut wrench suplex on Huber. Bill runs over and slams Ross off the top rope as the Ref counts 1..2..3 on Huber! The Olympians advance. Commercial Break Lance: What a show. The National tag team tournament is off to a great start. The Olympians advance as do Larry Z and Al Perez. Next week you'll see 2 more 1st round match ups. The Bruise Brothers will take on Vin Man's Family Art Crews and Timothy Flowers. Also, Karachi Vice will face Gold Standard. Pretty good match ups. The Great Gagne will face Scott Putski and if Putski wins he will indeed receive a TV title shot. Brenda Britton will bring us another SuperClash update. Fans, we're going to end this week's show by taking you to the home of AWA world champion Ricky Steamboat. After hearing Carlos Colon's comments tonight, I just don't know what to think. Lets take you to Steamboat. Ricky Steamboat is sitting in his chair wearing a neck brace. Steamboat: (pauses and looks down, then looks back up and speaks softly) Carlos, words can't express what's gong through my head right now. I thought you were my friend. I thought we were great friends. I told you to your face that nobody deserved a title shot more than you. I gave you one immediately, right there on the spot because you were my friend and because you deserved it. I would of given you another one but instead you had to cross a line. Carlos, you crossed that line and did something I thought was unthinkable. (His voice rising) There was absolutely no reason to do that but you did it anyway. I would be lying if I said I wasn't hurt physically and mentally. (Pauses and looks down, looks back up and stares at the camera) Carlos, you want another title shot, you got one!
  17. Hot feud going between Casey and Oliver. The question is, who put the bounty on Casey??? Looking forward to Rock n Roll coming back to Mid South. LeDuc pays for his blunders with the DDT! The Masked Superstars back up Adnan and his 50,000 dollars. Gordy is defiantly back in form as he takes down the Mighty Yankee. Opponents have to be on alert when Hayes is on the outside during a Freebirds match. LOL, Tojo pays dearly for his comments and so does Kendo. I'm sure Watts is going to be watching Fergie more closely from now on. Soul Man gets the DQ win over Hayes and one of the wildest brawls ever follows! Big time match as Dibiase qualifies over Jake. Mid South better watch out because Adnan has brought in Hercules Ayala. I know Ayala didn't come cheap. Hmmmm, Dibiase glaring at the million dollar briefcase. Very interesting. Halloween Havoc is going to be awesome!
  18. Couple of fun house shows. Gary Hart brings in TNT! Good career move here. I'm sure the fists were flying in the Busick and Avenger match. Avenger pulls it out but still has more to deal with. I hope Pillman and Hector wrestle til the end of the year. Tiger's stock is rising. Simmons takes down Miller as Hansen awaits. Bret gets a little revenge on Mega Man. Hopefully we get a Windham/Bret one on one. Orton/Gilbert is another one of my favorite programs. Bubba is proving to be a solid TV champ. Love that hard hitting finish in the Iron/Steel-Wild Bulls match. Owen gets the co win but Smothers remains CA champ. Owen would make a great CA champ but man am I enjoying Smothers run here.
  19. Oh man, poor Adonis just can't do anything right. He's in big trouble. If Al is putting up 5 grand and has Slink in his corner, you have to be ready for anything. Just ask Steve Armstrong. Nightmares get the win but Desperados quickly get their heat back. Street and Poffo go at it. That sneaky Woman manages to get one over on Street. I'm sure there's a lot more to come. Budro, Dutch and Dundee win a round against the Stud Stable. I believe JYD and Magnum have sealed the fate of Sato and Goto. I wonder what was said to send JYD and Magnum running. Get well soon Tommy! I know it killed him to have to sit back and watch his cousins go down to the Armstrongs. Shocking ending as BRUISER BRODY arrives and destroys Dusty! Chicky's money is well spent here. Khan gets the win. And now we know why JYD and Magnum were nowhere to be found. Genius storyline! Bleh is right, Chicky might have the NWA title in no time.
  20. AWA sends "El Jefe" Jose Estrada to Florida
  21. Very realistic show at the High School. I love that the Rougeaus got the headline spot retaining over the Hangmen. This was also a great way to showcase the younger and lower card talent. Greensboro got a great night of action. Sullivan vs. Vachon might be the craziest brawl these fans will ever see. Bart gets a huge win over Arn and counters JJ's shoe. Big night for the cowboy. Nikita and Spivey is one hard hitting main event that's worth the price of admission. Good work banging out these house shows!
  22. Great card in Rocky Hill. Love the continuity as Vachon continues to get the better of Armand. "Downtown" Brown will be a more than credible challenger for Embry. Good grief! Savage and Tully are now in the tournament! This could be the greatest tournament of all time!
  23. Black Tiger continues to impress. OMG takes down Rotunda and wants to inflict more pain until Barry Windham puts a stop top that. OMG vs. Windham...OH YEA! Thundercats take advantage of Brian's overconfidence and get back on the winning track. Dissention remains with Gary Hart's duo. Bomb Squad pull off their biggest win to date over Badd Co. Bigelow and the Army quickly forgive Burke. Avenger now has 5 men to deal with. Cornette, Eaton and Bubba on the outside is to much of a distraction, just ask Regal. My man Tony St. Clair continues his quest for the title as he takes down the Playboy's number one henchman Easy Ed.
  24. RPG and Platt together again! The way it was always meant to be. LOL, now I know how Humperdink arrived in Florida. Chicky Starr is the man with a plan. Dusty might be in big trouble. Chicky doesn't seem to impressed by Goto and Sato. Big task ahead against JYD and Magnum. Budro, Dundee and Dutch are fired up and ready for the Stud Stable. The Halloween Havoc tournament is stacked with all the top NWA wrestlers. Looking forward to the 2 ring battle royal. The Rich's bring up some valid points. Another round coming up with Brad and Bob, oh I mean Bullet. This is getting intense. Sherri has a celebration for new Jr. champ Prichard. Poor Adonis isn't invited. I love all the layers to the storyline going with Super Ds/Taylor, Zenk and of course Sherri/Cooley. Man, I can't wait for Poffo/Street one on one. Yes! Fiesta Garden time. I'll never get tired of Al's "Slink" introductions. HAHAHA! Al fires the band on the spot. We get an intense moment between Slink and Teijo but Chicky's money calms everybody down. It looks like Chicky is going to take over the entire NWA. LOL, only Al would put up his money in an open challenge. Taylor vs. Adonis for the TV title! I thought Adonis would finally redeem himself here but Cooley spoils everything. I'll say it again, poor Adonis. Congratulations to Taylor, he'll make a great TV champ. Great show!
