  1. Man, genius psychology by the MX early going, being confused and lacking structure leading to almost a heel in peril segment with Pillman and Eaton. As much as I hate to say it, my beloved Z Man brings this match down after his hot tag, just not enough fire there. Still really good, and what a 1990 for the MX that continues all the way through.
  2. I'm generally not a fan of power matches based solely on suplexes, I need some stiff striking too. I'm also not a fan of the Steiners. But, I think this is my favorite of the Steiner matches short of the Sting/Luger match. Doom won't be bullied around and delivers some hard clubbing blows, they're jacked to the moon, and they win the titles, no complaints.
  3. I can't remember any other new japan on the set so far. Anyway, the big complaint it looks like is Mutoh not selling the leg enough. Didn't bother me too much, as it seemed like the story was mat work vs wild brawling offense rather than based around the leg. I don't know, it's a fine line for me but it was sound enough not to take me out of the match. I'm always wary when I see a Mutoh match and I'm always looking to see if he's lazy or not. He worked hard here, fresh back from the USA, so I'm a fan. Good match.
  4. Somebody drop Connie Chung on that stack of dimes she calls a neck for exposing the business. I didn't know that was Tod Gordon. Totally takes this segment into a different realm.
  5. So this is the old doomsday/thunderdome/chamber of horrors match, correct? Maybe even the one from Halloween Havoc 97? This thing is so stupid. Anyway, I've seen this match no less than 5 times and I honestly cannot remember anything about the match part, and barely anything about the interference outside of Ole at the controls. Really a shame, given the history of matches these two have had.
  6. Stoked stoked stoked. Rude looks awesome here, sweating and wearing a bandana. Him and Heenan are so good here, and it's really a shame this was so disjointed on the Warriors side, despite how much I love warrior promos.
  7. Okay, this is one of the things I've been looking forward to in 1990. I've heard of this angle for several years now, but really I've tried to avoid knowing too much about it until I could see it played out. Really all I knew was that it was a racial angle but supposedly done tastefully. I didn't realize it was also a worked shoot angle, which really blew me away. I've been confused and disoriented by a lot of Memphis stuff but I really didn't know what was going on here. I immediately picked up on the fact that Lawler was less heelish, so I'm assuming this is the start of a face turn? I really can't add anything that hasn't been said, but wow, this is one of the more special things I've seen in wrestling.
  8. Haha it's funny posting right after Garretta, I seem to have the same struggles with lucha. And in also looking forward to the singles matches. For whatever reason this one lost me and I stopped paying attention at some point and washed the dishes. My fault, not the match's.
  9. Man talk about an intellectual battle of wits. I was really hoping this was going to be purely a debate, so I was very disappointed to see Doom run in and break up the action.
  10. Wow so I didn't know this was the unmasking match (I didn't read the thread beforehand). Everyone else has said it, it's not a good match. Everyone is slow and meandering and I kept watching mostly because I figured I must be missing something. Then when Kawada starts untying the tiger mask I thought something was wrong with Misawa and maybe that's why the match was so strange. But nope, this was the unmasking! Very strange way to do that. This is a really interesting match to watch though, because now we've seen 3/4 of the pillars give subpar performances this year. Also, it looks like the stop gap between the big 80s feud and the big 90s feud is over.
  11. Cool Valiant promo, different than the dancing man we've seen before. He was so emotional it almost made me want to call my mother (I didn't).
  12. Man I'd love to see this whole thing. This is the first time I've felt like I've "gotten" the Memphis style on the set so far. It's always a bit disturbing when you can see someone blading but it adds to the chaos for me. Ronnie P Gossett is flying around, refs are bumping, and the image of Lawler giving Valiant the ol' ether rag while being stretchered away is something I'm never going to forget. Might be one of my favorite segments from the year so far.
  13. It's totally bizarre to compare these Rude promos to the Warrior ones. I'm led to believe the match itself stinks but I'm pretty interested to see it.
  14. Robocop's involvement is so stupid but good on the Horsemen for treating this seriously and delivering a great promo. The absurdity of the content but the gravity of the tone makes this so memorable. I fell off the couch for the R2D2 line.
  15. I don't remember Woman being vocal or this good, so it's cool and surprising to see. Very cool. Flair focuses on Luger here, rather than Robocop.
  16. This is an awesome promo. Perfect promo for babyface Luger. Super fired up and to the point, great flexing throughout, couldn't ask for anything more.
  17. So this was kind of just there for me. Didn't really seem to heated, and I know it's just getting into the feud, but was kind of expecting more I guess. Austin looked kind of lost, like others have said.
  18. I'm very unfamiliar with joshi, really just from the two matches I've seen on here so far and the ocassional wcw match. I think the woman in blue was in the last match? Anyway, it seems like the style is very quick and heavy on the moves. It's cool to see and hear the famous little girl crowds really hot for the match. Someone else posted above, but I liked the concept of the loser of the previous fall continuing taking a beating.
  19. Oh cool I was hoping this would be on here! Really funny that Rick and Scott both chose "pork chops" and "snow mobile" as answers. Scott did great, really showcasing his Michigan education. I was really hoping Luger would totally bomb and really show what a mimbo he is and completely undermine JR's talking points. Also, there's a shot where it shows Rick Steiner staring off into space and he just looks like the most lost human being on the planet. It's very sad. This is the only thing my wife has watched with me so far, and she really enjoyed it. I'm interested in what "Night Musk" smells like...probably similar to Arrogance.
  20. Dude awesome Kerry comes out to Tom Sawyer! This is the most engaged in a USWA match so far. Great heated brawl, Kerry comes out red hot trying to hit the discuss punch early, but Borne blocks it! The action never lets up, and spills to the outside and teases brawling in he darkness once, then back to the ring, then back out into the parking lot and on to the El Camino. Wow, almost 10 years before WWF was doing it. What a segment, I can't wait to see more from here.
