[1991-01-05-WCW-Saturday Night] Brian Pillman vs Rip Rogers
The stipulation is kind of wonky and probably could have been put over better if it was just worked into the match naturally, like Rogers knows he's a slow starter so he has to really stooge and prevent being pinned that way. Despite that though, I really liked this one, and it might be my favorite of their feud? I don't think I've seen the guardrail fall over like that before, that looked pretty rough. More hard hitting fast action, I can't complain.

[1991-01-05-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Terry Funk
One of the best things about Funk is his unpredictability. There's just no way of knowing what he's going to do next, and he creates a sense of chaos maybe better than anyone. The piledriver stuff was a shame, but I don't know, it kind of added to the match for me. Like Funk will just do whatever he wants and no one can stop him. Scotty the Body showing up was unexpected.

[1991-01-11-AJW] Manami Toyota vs Akira Hokuto
In 1990 there were some glimpses of Toyota working like this but this seems like a more fleshed out version. Really great.

[1991-01-05-USWA Texas] Jeff Jarrett vs Eddie Gilbert
Is this the best Jeff Jarrett match of all time? This is great. I wish there was more stuff like this out of Texas. Or maybe there is for 1991? I'm hoping Jarrett stays around Texas and is a big deal in Texas. This really solid.

[1991-01-05-AJW] Kyoko Inoue vs Mika Takahashi
This felt really long. This also felt like a match that falls into what people describe as the typical joshi style, with lots of energy and action, but too much stuff going on and he women not letting things breathe. That's how this felt to me. The handheld made it even more difficult to get through. Not a fan of this one.

[1991-01-02-AJPW-New Year Giant Series] Stan Hansen vs Kenta Kobashi
For better or for worse, I always watch Hansen matches with the mindset of Hansen making his opponents work hard for him to sell, which I've said in here a bunch. Here's another good example, where Kobashi really had to work over the arm and stay on Hansen to get anything done. And it works too, as Kobadhi is able to hang tough until the end.

[1991-Monterrey] La Fiera vs Jerry Estrada (Chain)
I don't know if they put the ripped up mat on just for this match or what, but it really added something for me. Really raw feeling. Honestly, this one was kind of boring until the chair dive spot, but the kind of dark spectacle with great visuals throughoutt. I really liked the finish. I liked the rushed confusing feeling of it, coming too soon when it seemed like something was being built too. Added to the match for me.

[1991-01-04-AJW] Akira Hokuto vs Bull Nakano
I really liked the fast opening, a couple big moves and a pin. Really surprising that hokuto controlled the early matwork, which was very cool and unexpected. its kind of a David vs Goliath thing, like Hokuto having to hit all these big moves and four consecutive missile dropkicks, but she's working from on top when she does it. I actually thought the blatant interference, while stupid, was handled well to avoid a kickout on a second rope bowerbomb. Also, Bull is wearing the same AWESOME Napalm Death shirt she was wearing in late 1990, which pleases me. Napalm were huge in Japan at this time.

[1990-12-29-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Arn Anderson vs Tom Zenk
Haha YES. I love this match and yeah Arn carried my precious Z Man here, but I thought Zenk showed some good aggression working on Arn's arm on the ground. But he's totally overshadowed by Arn, classic leg injury fake out, ruthless offense, the whole deal. Love Zenk's perpetuat 1000 yard stare.

[1990-12-14-EMLL] El Dandy vs El Satanico (Hair vs Hair)
I can't really add anything else here, this was gritty and raw and emotional and really great. Pretty exhausting to watch actually. Man, El Dandy.... The hair cutting part was straight up hard to watch, with the sweat and blood and matted hair all being mixed together and cut by another person. Really nasty stuff.

I really liked this. Dustin is already good at firing up, and the stipulation really worked well I thought. Big win for Dustin too.

[1990-11-10-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Sting vs Bobby Eaton
The "random" people attacking Sting under the command of the Black Scorpion feels like a really budget horror trick, and is super lame. The match though, is pretty good, and I would've really liked to see this in a big spot. Sting wasn't very good at being the dominate champion, and didn't look especially motivated here, but I bet he would've worked hard and with Bibby Eaton being such a pro and bumping all over the place, this could have been an important won for Sting.

[1990-11-23-NWA-Power Hour] Ric Flair vs Buddy Landell
Cool match to see in a tv episode. It felt like it was kind of front loaded to do the similar poses and stuff, then lost some momentum towards the end. Still a solid match, and I can't complain about seeing the battle of the nature boys in its full form.

[1990-11-21-NWA-Clash of the Champions XIII] Sid Vicious vs The Nightstalker
I get all the Brians mixed up, and this was apparently Brian Clarke who I can't remember what he went on to do. Was he Wrath or one of the DOA? Or neither? Anyway, bad match, not the worst I've seen, and maybe not the worst I've seen this year. Someone above mentioned Zeus vs Abdullah, I'd call that worse. There was also some really long match, maybe like a draw or something, that I'm totally blanking on but remember being just absolutely punishing.

[1990-11-24-NWA-Pro] Arn Anderson vs Terry Taylor
Really disappointing finish to a really enjoyable series and I thought this match was very energetic and conveyed the buildup and anger well. So this was Tony Schiavone on commentary? I was wondering the whole time, it felt like his inflection but it sounded off.

[1990-12-07-AJPW-Real World Tag League] Stan Hansen & Dan Spivey vs Steve Williams & Terry Gordy
Tough match to follow. Lots of back and forth, but not especially heated. I continue to enjoy Spivey's work though, I think he's been pretty good. When he was in the outside, and faked out Doc a couple times before pulling him out and really gong to town on him, I thought it looked good. Then later in was in some leg hold thing with one of the two (?) and I like his kicks to the back, I think of Gordy?

[1990-12-07-NWA-Power Hour] Sting and Black Scorpion
Man, the unknown thugs attacking Sting is not effective, and neither is the Black Scorpion audio. Just very poor and there's no payoff to any of these segments.
