  1. Great shows here. Loved reading the Flair-Martel bout. To be honest, I was not sure which way you were going to go here. You guys are so unpredictable and I could see positives to Flair keeping the title but also some positives to Martel winning the title. I was surprised to see Flair work in an 8 man tag match without the other horsemen. I thought even the dirtiest player in the game would stay away from the Iranians and the Russians in 85 but I am sure he gets paid a lot of money to do what he is told. LOVE THE AMERICAN BASH and you are doing a great job of hyping it up.
  2. CCW is firing on all cylinders now. Fritz is in and you got the two Sportatoriums hoisting shows. along with my favorite Monday night card at the Boutwell. CCW has quickly advanced from a left over roster to a major player. You have pulled off some great deals and your simple and easy to read writing writing style has your shows being something I look forward to reading each week. So many great feuds and I love how you the location determines which is fought where. Kevin vs Idol in Texas, Amrstrongs in the Boutwell and the Dream vs Sammartino in Florida.
  3. UWF THURSDAY NIGHT SHOWS FOR JULY 18, 1985 USWA: NASHVILLE, TV- TENNESSEE STATE FAIRGROUNDS Round 1: United States Tag Team Tournament 1. The Fabulous Ones defeat the Fabulous Freebirds by DQ as the Freebirds shocked everyone with a big heel turn. Michael Hayes blinded both Keirn and Lane with some sort of cream. The Fab Ones were not able to continue in the tournament. 2. The Tennessee Stud Stable (Rich and Gilbert) defeated The Jive Tones (Iceman and Pez Whatley) when the ref was knocked down as Rich hit Whatley with a pair of brass knuckles. 3. Ronnie Garvin & Terry Taylor defeated Master G & Norvell Austin as Garvin followed up Taylor’s Airplane Spin on Austin with a Garvin Stomp. 4. The Kiwi Sheepherders defeated the Samoan Connection as Morgan hit Farmer Boy Ipo with the Zew Zealand flag. 5. United States National Title Match Champion, Jimmy Garvin defeated JYD with a purse shot from Precious. 6. SEMI-FINAL TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT Ronnie Garvin & Terry Taylor defeated the Sheepherders in a wild brawl. The ref was down and Jonathan Boyd tried another flag hit but Taylor beat him to the punch with a superkick. Rugged Ronnie added one haymaker and that was all that was needed. 7. UNITED STATES NATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Ronnie Garvin and Terry Taylor defeated The Tennessee Stud Stable as Eddie Gilbert was distracted by Jerry “The King” Lawler which allowed Taylor to hit a Sunset Flip for the surprise victory and championship. 8. UWF WORLD TITLE MATCH Jerry “The King” Lawler defeated Austin Idol by DQ as Eddie Gilbert and his father, Tommy Gilbert came to ringside for revenge. Tommy simply walked into the ring as nailed Lawler with a chain. The three were joined by Wildfire and they laid the boots to the King. The Nashville crowd was in near riot mood when this one ended. MID-SOUTH WRESTLING: New Orleans-Lake Front Arena 1. Chris Benoit defeats Bob Owens diving headbut 2. The Cuban Assassin defeats Billy the Kid with a powerslam 3. The Rat Pack defeats Lanny Poffo and Brett Sawyer as Embry uses the ropes for an advantage after a neckbreaker on Poffo. 4. Jimmy Snuka defeats the Dingo Warrior after a Superfly Death Leap. Akbar rushed in too late to stop the pin and was caught by Akbar. Snuka headbutted Akbar and then went to the top rope and was going for another Splash on Akbar when Hacksaw Reed rushed down to the ring. Reed seemed to take his time and Snuka connected with the splash. Snuka and Reed eyed each other for a few seconds then went to major blows! 5. Terry Gordy and Steve Williams fought to a double count out as the two fought all over Lake Front arena and both wore their crimson masks back to the locker room. This feud may not be done yet. 6. UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The Road Warriors defeat the Midnight Express when Animal no sells a tennis racket shot from Jim Cornette and tosses him from the ring to the floor with a Gorilla Press Slam. He then caught Condrey in a powerslam for the victory. Hawk almost decapitated Eaton with a running clothesline as Eaton tried to make the save 7. NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH WITH SPECIAL REFEREE DUSTY RHODES Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeats Ted DIbiase by DQ as Steve “Dr. Death” Williams ran into the ring and hit Dusty Rhodes with a chair. The entire Rat Pack now turned on both Rhodes and Hacksaw and the beating lasted a few minutes until the cavalry came. Just like in Nashville, the fans leave wanting revenge!
  4. Really like how you have two groups of wrestlers going to different markets here. It seemed nice and balanced and each venue got a great show!
  5. 7/13/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: AUSTIN IDOL NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: TED DIBIASE UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: RON FULLER, ROBERT FULLER, JIMMY GOLDEN UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: ICEMAN PARSONS Hello again everybody. Welcome as UWF & Mid-South Wrestling presents Power Pro Wrestling from Shreveport, Louisiana and the Irish McNeil’s Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. We are still trying to regroup here after the chaos of Battleground. All of a sudden, the Rat Pack (Dibiase, Williams, Landell and Embry) comes out with Dibiase carrying his brand new UWF North American Championship belt. He hypes up the fact that he knocked Hacksaw Duggan all over the ring just like he said he would and that there is no one in Mid-South with the guts to step up and take it away from him. It almost looked like Dr. Death was going to say something but he remained quiet. Ernie Ladd congratulates him but Jim Ross seems upset that the win came with some help from the rest of the Rat Pack. Jim Ross reminds him by rules, Hacksaw Jim Duggan gets a rematch. Ted Dibiase: A rematch. Are you kidding me? That loser doesn’t deserve a rematch and he is going to have to wait his turn. This brings out Cowboy Bill Watts who has a big message for Ted Dibiase. Cowboy Bill Watts: Mr. Dibiase, one thing that is certain is that this is my company and I make the rules. The rules state that Hacksaw Duggan gets a rematch and he will get one. In fact, that rematch has already been signed for this Thursday in New Orleans at the Lake Front Arena. Ted Dibiase is fuming mad. He whispers something into the ears of the rest of the Rat Pack… Cowboy Bill Watts: Um hmmm. I am not finished. Just by your whispering right now and by the interference of your henchmen at Battleground, I have decided this match needs a Special Referee. Ted Dibiase is now red hot and demands to know exactly who it is. Watts laughs and simply responds with “See for yourself.” The crowd and Jim Ross both explode as “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes walks out in a referee shirt. The entire Rat Pack are besides themselves know. Dibiase says there is no way that Dusty Rhodes is going to ref any match that the Rat Pack is involved in, let alone the match between him and Duggan for the North American Title! Watts again reminds Dibiase that he makes the rules and that is exactly what is going to happen. He says Dusty is the one man he knows who can keep control and who is fair and honest. Watts goes to say that Rhodes is actually going to ref the next match. Now it is Embry and Landell who go nuts as the next match is their tag team match with the Samoan Connection, (Farmer Boy Ipo and LeRoy Brown) MATCH #1 RAT PACK (Eric Embry & Buddy Landell) VS THE SAMOAN CONNECTION The Rat Pack starts right away with the questionable tactics as Embry rakes the eyes of Brown. Dusty immediately pushes Embry back and warns him. Playing this match fair and square is not what the Rat Pack had in mind as both those Samoans are over 350 pounds. Landell is next up to test Rhodes. He has Ipo in the corner and instead of a clean break, he goes to throw a big right hand. The Dream hooks him arm and stops the punch. Ipo comes out of the corner with a big Samoan Headbut! Dibiase and Williams close in on the ring as they are fuming. Ipo tags in Brown after the headbut. He whips Landell towards Brown who connects with a Samoan drop. 1… 2… 3. A huge win for the Samoan Connection. Dibiase and Williams are on the apron as the crowd explodes again. This time it is Hacksaw who rushes in carrying the trust 2 x 4. He gets in the ring and is standing next to the Dream. The Rat back slowly back do muttering that there is no way that Dibiase will ever get a fair shot this Thursday in New Orleans and that the fix is in. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: THE FACES OF FEAR with SKANDAR AKBAR VS TONY PERKINS & FRANK DALTON A complete squash match where the end comes with a little message to the Road Warriors as the Faces of Fear copy their finisher. Haku hoists Perkins up as Konga comes off the top rope with a massive clothesline. Perkins flips in mid-air comes crashing down on his head. Dalton doesn’t even dare to try to make the save. At the interview desk, we hear from Akbar who says the Road Warriors are afraid and that is why they attacked his men before the match at Battleground even started which caused the No Contest result. He goes on to hype up the rest of his Devastation Inc. with Dingo Warrior and Hacksaw Butch Reed. MATCH: BRETT WAYNE SAWYER VS RON GARFIELD Sawyer out with a handshake for Garfield and we get a bit of a technical match where in the end, Sawyer wins with a nice Frog Splash. As the ref raises his hand, we hear Jim Ross let us know that trouble is coming. From behind we see the Cuban Assassin attack Sawyer from behind. A quick Ax Handle Smash to the back followed by an Irish Whip into a Powerslam by the mighty Assassin leaves Sawyer laying in the middle of the ring. Sawyer’s popularity instantly rose due to this attack as the crowd felt for him and truly hate the Cuban Assassin. The ultimate crowd pleaser, Iceman King Parsons rushed in and threw some big haymakers causing the Assassin to head for higher ground. At the interview desk, we see Iceman and a battered Sawyer. Cowboy Bill Watts comes back out and thanks Iceman for what he just did. Cowboy Bill Watts: Iceman, you know there are two things in this world that I value more than anything and that is God and Country. We can’t let some Commie Red from Cuba come in here and sneak attack anyone of us. Iceman: Cowboy, you got that right. I know I am scheduled to defend the UWF World TV Title next week. How about we make that match against that scum I just tossed around, the Cuban Assassin and we show him what a Big Butt Bump Feels Like! CRANK MY MUSIC! The crowd pops as Sister Sledge and “We Are Family” begins to play. Watts says it is time all Americans act like a family and grants the match against the Cuban Assassin. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: THE ROAD WARRIORS with Paul Ellering VS STEVEN BRUISER & LARRY CHEATAM Almost a copy of the match we see earlier with the Faces of Fear. A quick and brutal win by the Road Warriors and after their interview where Hawk and Animal take offense to anyone saying they are afraid and how dare anyone use their move to win a match. Jim Ross: Well I am sure you will get your chance at the Faces of Fear again but this Thursday in New Orleans, you are set to defend your UWF Titles against the Midnight Express. Paul Ellering: HAHAHA, do you think those two little punks stand a chance against these monsters. They will be lucky to find a doctor who can put them back together again. It will be like Humpty Dumpty all over again and I am warning that little punk, Jim Cornette to not get involved in that match or he will be asking his mother to pry that Tennis Racket out from where the sun don’t shine! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- THE FREEBIRDS (HAYES & ROBERTS) VS BOBBY JAGGERS & MAN MOUNTAIN LINK A great back and forth match that goes nearly ten minutes. The end comes when Roberts does a good bit as the face in peril and then blocks a punch from the Mountain and stumbles across for the tag to Hayes. Hayes comes in like a house afire and bangs the head of Link and Jaggers together, Jaggers stumbles through the middle ropes. Hayes grabs Link in a headlock and runs leaping through the air for a Running Bulldog for the victory. At the interview desk, we see the Freebirds hype up that huge 8-man tag tournament for the vacant U.S. Tag Team Titles up in Nashville this week and the next time, you see them there will be gold around their waists! Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport! Show ends with promos for the card in New Orleans at the Lake Front Arena on Thursday. MATCHES INCLUDE UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Road Warriors vs The Midnight Express UWF NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH Ted Dibiase vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan with Special Referee Dusty Rhodes!
  6. UWF has Jimmy Snuka on the block.
  7. With the new jobber pack rules which allows us to make up names or have them one and off the show, the UWF release Nick Kiniski, Kelly Kiniski, Snake Brown, Terry Adonis, Ron Sexton, Steve Gatorwolf, Art Crews, Randy Barber,Ken Raper, Mighty Milo. Spike Huber and Brett Sawyer will now take regular spots. UWF will add Man Mountain Link and Plowboy Frazier to complete its roster.
  8. Great show. I just said a similar thing in my Lutte Post but I really like how you guys are building stars out of people who might not have been that big in real life. Steve Simpson is finally getting a nice run in the game and Al Madril is a champion. Perfect!
  9. I agree with Gordi. It is fun to watch some of these guys becoming major players. I enjoyed Boon with Gamma Singh, Rain with Master G and now you with Mr. Electricity.
  10. Hart with OMG just fits so nicely
  11. It is all good. Do our jobber packs becoming enhancement packs or should we just use 49 regular spots?
  12. UWF would like to release Man Mountain link and pick up Tommy Gilbert
  13. Enjoyed the show here. Was Adrian Adonis big in Japan. He seems to be doing work here. Also it must be hard to get one of those guys in the main event to do the job! Great show as always
  14. USWA WRESTLING PRESENTS THE MAIN EVENT 7/9/1985: WTVT 8:00-9:00 MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to a brand new era in USWA Wrestling, a UWF Promotion. I am Lance Russell along with the young Jeff Jarrett. Not only did your father and the wrestlers from Tennessee come out victorious the other night at Battleground, we are on a brand new station, WTVT and they have dedicated Tuesdays to the UWF and have branded Tuesday’s as Tuesday Night Titians. This and every Tuesday will be wrestling filled beginning with USWA Main Event and immediately followed by Mid-South Wrestling’s Power Pro! Lance Russell: Let’s get right to last week and Battleground where we saw Bronco Lubich come out and make the 3 count as Jerry “The King” Lawler pinned the American Dream giving Tennessee and you father the victory over Fritz and Texas. Jeff Jarrett: Go Vols! Lance Russell: Well Let’s bring out Jerry Lawler. As the King comes out to a raucous ovation, he is not as pleased as you would expect. Jerry Lawler: Lance, you know Battleground was supposed to be about going out and winning one for home and our boss. You know that I live and die Memphis and I would do anything for this place. Jerry Jarrett and I have had our differences in the past but by God, he tries to do everything right. I thought we were all on board. I mean even Nature Boy Ric Flair took one night out of his jet setting ways to come home and lend a helping hand. Battleground was not about us, it was about the future of wrestling. It was about right and wrong and even though we won, we had some real snakes who only cared about themselves. That’s right Tommy Rich! That’s right Eddie Gilbert. That’s right Honky Tonk Man. You saw Dusty Rhodes and myself battling in the center of that ring and we gave it everything we had even though we have become good friends and then you had the nerve to smother our brother, Jimmy Golden, with an ether soaked towel! You guys called yourself the Tennessee Volunteer Army and do you know what they do to traitors in the Army. THEY GET EXECUTED! And when I am done with you three, I am coming after that other snake, the UWF Unified Champion Austin Idol. Mark my words, this is a new day in the USWA and the King will rule with a mighty fist! Lance Russell: Well that is one angry and motivated king. The rest of the USWA best beware! Let’s bring out the man that now controls all of the USWA, Jerry Jarrett. Jerry Jarrett thanks Lance for the introduction and the King for all of his work at Battleground. He goes on to discuss all the new and exciting things that he has instore for the USWA including returning to many of the old cities from the CWA days. He lets all the wrestling fans in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri know that they will able to see all the great action live and in person real soon. He also announces the return of the UWF United States Tag Team Title that has been vacant for some time now. He says that this Thursday at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville, there will be a one night 8 team tournament for the titles. The teams will include The Fabulous Ones, The Kiwi Sheepherders, Tommy Rich and Eddie Gilbert, The Samoan Connection, The Freebirds, The Jive Tones (Pez Whatley & Iceman Parsons, Norvell Austin and Master G and the team you are about to see in action now…. With the Kiniski brothers already in the ring, the fans are excited to see who comes out next. MATCH: NICK & KELLY KINISKI VS RONNIE GARVIN & TERRY TAYLOR The crowd pops as two of the more popular wrestlers in the world are coming out together. As for the match, the fan favorites dominate. Nick made a big mistake when he tried to trade blows with Rugged Ronnie Garvin in the ring. After a huge haymaker, Garvin tagged in Taylor for the airplane spin and the victory. After the match, the duo heads over to the interview are where Lance really hypes them up. He also reminds everyone that it was these two who came out and saves JYD as he was being attacked by Idol and his henchmen, David Sammartino and Teddy Muscles. Garvin and Taylor are in the middle of the of telling how close they are with JYD when we hear … “Wait a minute. What just a cotton pickin minute.” It is Jim Cornette and he is furious and wants to an immediate answer as to why the greatest tag team in the World today is not included in the U.S. National Tag Team Tournament.” Jerry Jarrett is still at the interview area and he reminds Cornette that his team has a World Title shot this Thursday against the Road Warriors in New Orleans and can’t be in Nashville. This does little to satisfy the little tyrant who is threatening to get his mother’s lawyers involved as to why the tournament was scheduled the same night as his title shot. He says he has a pretty good idea as to why and it is because Jarrett doesn’t like him much and knows that his team would win as there is not another team around who could last more than 5 minutes with the Midnight Express, Uh hmmm says Ronnie Garvin and says that is a bet you are going to regret . If Mr. Jarrett here will allow sanction this match for tonight, I guarantee you that Terry and I will last 5 minutes with your team. Cornette tries his best to back-peddle out of this one but Jerry Jarrett loves the idea and tells the fans that tonight, our main event will be the Midnight Express vs Terry Taylor and Ronnie Garvin. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- When we come out of break, none other than the UWF Unified World Champions is at the interview desk with Freddie Blassie, Tommy Rich and Eddie Gilbert. Idol has in hands a copy of the cartoon book that was recently released about Jerry Lawler, “The Crowning of a King.” Idol hypes up the book and how it makes Lawler out to be almost super human and such a great guy. Idol demands that Lawler come out and Lance Russell warns him about any funny business. Idol PROMISES to be on his best behavior and that he just wants to meet the King of Memphis. Slowly but confidently Lawler comes out and listens to Idol patronize Lawler and all of his accomplishments. Lance Russell: Oh come on Idol, enough is enough. Is there a point to all of this? You are making a fool out of yourself. Jerry Lawler: Idol can’t make a fool of himself. God has already done it for him. Idol says he wants to play a little game he calls This is Your Life and if Lawler can answer 5 questions in a row, he can have a World Title shot this week in Nashville. He also says that the game will show the people of Memphis just how great a man their King is! Lawler accepts and tells Idol that he better watch his step or he is going to punch him right in the face. Idol ignores him and moves right to the first question. Question #1 Idol plays an audio tape of some drunk who is talking about how great he and Lawler were together when they won the Southern Tag Title together 6 different times but Lawler always thought that he was better than me and wanted to go it alone so he dumped me one night in Louisville. The poor guy goes on to talk about what could have been and how he has been depressed for years. Jerry Lawler: Oh come on. This is ridiculous. That was my first tag team partner Jim White. He has fallen on hard times and is off his rocker. I helped him as much as I could. Austin Idol: It really sounds like it. I mean you left the poor guy in the gutter just to go and help yourself but you got question #1 right. Question #2: Sorry, no audio here as it would be impossible. You see the next person on our list is dead and you caused it. That’s right, he spent years carrying your bags and helping you out. He was your manager here in Memphis and he is the one who crowned you the King of Memphis and how do you repay him. You tell him you are too good to be riding in a stinking car with him. You demand he book you on first class air planes while he brings your stuff by car. Well one night in July of 1976, you won a big match for the Southern Title against Harley Race right here in Memphis and you boys wanted to celebrate but you had a match the next night in Nashville. He asked you to trade the first-class ticket in for 2 regular seats and you refused saying you were the king! What happened that night in 1976? That’s right your manager died in a car accident because you were too selfish. Who is this we are taking about? Lance Russell: Oh come on Idol, this is all one sided…. Jerry Lawler, really quiet and obviously moved, answers Sam Bass. Austin Idol: Bingo Lawler, two for two. Let’s go to question #3 Another man who can’t be here today because you killed him. Not with your hands but by just pure bullying. You took this little Hollywood man and harassed him all over mid-America. You broke his neck with a piledriver. I mean come on Jerry. He wasn’t even a wrestler. All he wanted was to be accepted and when you refused, he went into a deep depression and overdosed on drugs. All of this could have been avoided Lawler but no, you had to make him feel unwanted, worthless. Well who is this Lawler? Jerry Lawler is now visible shaken answers Andy Kauffman. Austin Idol: Well you sure are good at this game. Next up we here Eddie Gilbert speak for the first time. “Ok, let’s go back to 1978. The night you won the Southern Heavyweight Title. The man you wrestled was a big fan favorite. When asked about this match, he says he remembers nothing. All he remembers was that he had you pretty good and came in and you caught him with an eye rake and that is all he recalls. He says someone later told him you reached into your trunks when the ref wasn’t looking and cold clocked him with a chain costing him his title and a two week stay in the hospital. Any ideas who that was. Lawler really quiet now says, Tommy Gilbert! Eddie Gilbert: That’s right. My father… and you wonder why I hate you. Why I don’t respect you and why I will spend the rest of my career coming after you! Austin Idol, with Freddie Blassie seem happy with Gilbert who turns to Tommy Rich for question 5. Tommy Rich: Lawler! I got a 3-part question for you but I will make it easy for you. Name the three wrestlers standing right in front of you now who for no good reason at all you have tried to blind by throwing a fireball right into their eyes. Before Lawler can respond, Idol, Rich and Gilbert attack Lawler. Blassie takes the microphone while the beating is going on. Freddie Blassie: How dare you Lawler, you pencil neck geek. You call my wrestler, the UWF Unified World Champion, Austin Idol a snake. You are the lowest man in all of professional sports. As you can see, there are plenty of men who you have cheated around here. You are the murdering snake and came this Thursday in Nashville, Idol will tear you apart. All of a sudden, the cavalry of JYD, Ronnie Garvin an Terry Taylor come and chase the heels away. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: RIP RODGERS VS RANDY BARBER A nice showcase here for the heel who calls out Pez Whatley in his post-match interview and warns him he better be careful about stickin his nose where it doesn’t belong or else he might just find himself with a little tar and feathers. MATCH: VLADIMIR THE RUSSIAN HAMMER VS MIGHT MILO The Hammer, a huge 6’8 300 pounder ripped full of muscles, does a great job a bringing some heat on himself with that Russian flag and antagonizing the fans every step of the way to the ring. This match is pure domination and goes only about 2 minutes as the 5’4 Milo is just beaten upon. The end comes when Vlad whips Milo into the ropes and he goes the opposite way to use the ropes on the other side. He launches himself with all his momentum and catches Milo with a two-fisted sledge hammer that causes Milo to flip in midair and almost land right on his head. Vlad, in broken English, is calling out each and every weak American. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: JYD VS KEN RAPER As much heat as the Russian Hammer brought, JYD brings the love. His dancing, chain swinging entrance to “Another One Bites the Dust” has everyone up! Dog makes quick work of Raper with a Big Thump. At the interview desk, Dog is all fired up about Idol, Rich and Gilbert. He says that it is bad enough when you attack a man 3 on1 but when you claim he is responsible for the deaths of other human beings, you have gone too far. He lets Lawler know he has plenty of people in his corner and for him to bring the World Title back to the people of Memphis this Thursday. MATCH TERRY GORDY VS SPIKE HUBER Huber fights well here but the fan favorite, Terry Gordy, is just too much and the end comes with a big shoulder block followed by a nasty piledriver. At the interview desk Gordy is accepting the love of everyone for that big main event win at Battleground when all of a sudden Jimmy Garvin comes out and says that nobody wants to hear this dumb, fat hick talk and to let the United States Champion talk. Gordy warns him to be careful because there aint nothing more than getting your behind whooped in front of your old lady. (referring to Precious) Precious tells Garvin to hot him but Garvin think better of it. Gordy lets him know that any time he wants to come onto Bad Street he can leave that title at the end of the block. Garvin laughs and lets Gordy know that he has already played on Bad Street and it aint all it’s cracked up to be. Somehow cooler heads prevail but this one is just getting going. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT MATCH: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS with JIM CORNETT VS TERRY TAYLOR & RONNIE GARVIN The baby faces really take it to the Express for a few minutes here but Cornette gets involved with a trip on Garvin. Ronnie goes outside after Cornette but is met with an elbow from Eaton. The Express throw everything at Garvin but can’t get the win. Garvin escapes trouble and tags in Taylor who comes in like a raging bull. It gets real wild here and this is when Lance Russell tells us we are just about out of time. He hypes up the huge card in Nashville with the U.S. Tag Title Tournament and Lawler vs Idol for the Unified World Title. Lance Russell: So long from Memphis!
  15. I love the show from the Boutwell each and every week. Always enjoy the throwing in the towel endings. Kevin Von Erich is HUGE! I wonder if Rich and Gilbert will forgive HTM for losing the belts.
  16. Very nice series of shows. It is beginning to feel like the UWF is similar to the old NWA and its territories where its champ is touring around against each promotions stars. The Stud stable feud continues to be a fun read and I am interested to see where it goes. Will be back this week to try and carry some of the UWF load.
  17. Very nice booking. The Exotic Superstars! The Stud Stable going after the Road Warriors could make them the Golden Studs!
  18. I have been proven wrong again. I questioned the Machine angle and didn't really love it until I saw those painted faces. Great planning and now I must admit, it is classic!
  19. I must say that I am very interested in this very calm and respectful Dory Funk. It will be interesting to see how long this calmness continues and what eventually causes it to blow up.
  20. There is no way Lutte or anyone else should deal with a teenager who thinks he is bigger then the whole company!! Follow the New England Patriots way where team comes first! Punish the Rockers severely.
  21. Japan must be loving all these big names in one place and so am I as I am finally getting familiar with this new style of wrestling shows. Thanks for helping me out here.
  22. Again my lack of wrestling knowledge appears.... What is a side bump?
  23. Just the way a supercard should be.... huge match after huge match with surprise after surprise. So many turns and twists here that everyone had to leave the Metrodome exhausted. From the return of Jimmy Garvin to his heel turn, to the appearance of KKB in the syndicate 6 to his immediate turn to Sarge's team to the return of Don Muraco. To see a match like Bockwinkle vs Race and not have it be the biggest match on an AWA card shows how strong your roster is. One of the reasons is your slow, patient development of the youngsters and midcarders. Al Perez is now a champion, Lex is in title matches, Mick Foley has found an angle that works and is quickly building a name for himself. One of the best balanced and planned promotions out there.
  24. These cards show a lot of long term planning and were fun reads.
  25. UWF would like Jerry Lawler on Dec 5,7,12,14,19,21,26 and 28
