  1. I like that people are off and searching for new venues. Lutte hits Texas and I think that is cool. TV is the key here. Anywhere you are viewd gives you a chance at drawing an audience. As for your TV show, a lot going in here. Andre with the belt is the ultimate screw job to the WWF and that is a cool feud. I would not even give them the time of day though on your TV show. I think it would have been best if you said Dutch Mantell was gone or injured instead of saying he went to the WWF. That might help them get a few more viewers and that is not what you want. I thought the Dory interview was interesting. He came off almost like a baby face. Maybe you could run a FUNK-FUNK feud down the road. Both could pull it off.
  2. Very interesting stuff going on around here. What is the WWF to think about champion Andre and is MACW concerned that they will never see there tag belts again
  3. I enjoyed your show as always and looking forward to the Bash but on a side note, Mr. Saito is in jail at this time along with Ken Patera. He is not eligible until late 1986. I dropped Patera as he is not eligible until 1987. Lowblow picked up Patera but is not using him until 87.
  4. I enjoyed the Pete Doherty-Jay Strongbow angle here and hope there is more to it. I think those feuds throughout the card make for an interesting show. I also like to see the open competition between organizations for venues as both WWF and MACW ran shows in Cincinnati here. I hope all of the squabbling over locations has come to an end and we realize the war to control the wrestling scene is on!
  5. I agree with Gordi there are story lines throughout the card which makes it a fun read from segment to segment.
  6. Enjoyed the creative nature of the casket match. The idea of a flag always seems to bring immediate heat and in this case it works perfectly.
  7. I really enjoyed that card. I thought the Nightmares acted a bit heelish here by simply walking out. Fun to watch the tide turn on Tojo and clan. The hooded figure makes an appearance. All HELL is about to break loose I think. I must say that the Stud Stable feud is interesting as both teams could easily turn face or heel. Bruiser Brody on the side of Blassie could really give Idol some protection but if you were Idol would you really trust Bruiser? So many interesting ways to play this one.
  8. To be honest, I have been feeling this way for awhile. UWF, NWA, WWF and the AWA are all separate "National" type programs. We are in fact not working together but to push our own brands. We should all be able to run wherever we want. UWF is looking to keep the Southern Rasstlin Idea and has no interest no in running in the Northeast, West on Canada but after that all should be fair game. Houston, St. Louis and even Hawaii made a living on using others talents for their own game. Houston would run World Class type shows one night and UWF shows the next followed by WWF next week. This is exactly what this game has turned into. Everyone for themselves. We have three World Champions. Why should the UWF care if the WWF went to Dallas this week and I went next. If they are enough fans to support it, great. If not, let the better show win! With that, UWF is going to be centered in the southern and middle part of the country. I am going to try and follow the Memphis and Mid South loops but major shows could include near cities like St. Louis or Kansas City. If the AWA, NWA or WWF wants to run any city that was used historically in my loops feel free. If you did a search of where Mid-South Wrestling was aired in 1985-86, it was everywhere but the Northeast. Watts had easy access to ratings and could see hotbeds for his product and might want to reward them with a house show along the way.
  9. Love the new and improved Stud Stable. Poor Dusty can't seem to catch a break here! Enjoy your trip. I am away for two weeks but will try to pop om a bit.
  10. Thanks for the feed back and I understand your comments. I put the Garvin title defense to get the TV audience into this early. As we often see in the WWF today, they put the hook in quickly and that was why I put it there. As for Ric Flair he might be one of the biggest stars in the game but he is not one of the biggest in the UWF. I have often seen him in 6 main matches as the main event in his own NWA. The key story line here was Fritz-Jarrett as we have often see in wrestling history whether it by Vince, Shane, Stephanie or Eric B. Also, since the WWF and the NWA are on fire, this card needed showcase the superstars of the UWF and not the lower card members of the promotion in order to keep up. Historically, I do not think their is much of an undercard in Wrestlemania or the Bash. They bring in stars just to use their names all the time like Mohammed Ali, Liberace or Joe Frazier. This was the purpose of Flair. Not to put over the NWA and help their cause but to showcase that the UWF can keep up with anyone else.
  11. THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA 7/3/1985: WTVT “Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF Wrestling and New Orleans, Louisiana. We are coming to you live on WTVT from the world famous Superdome. I am Jim Ross along with Ernie Ladd. What a night it is going to be. We have 5 huge titles matches and three matches that hold the fate of the USWA in their hands as the Tennessee – Texas War has come to a head. After the show tonight, we will see the end of one of two legendary men in all of wrestling as one will have to leave the USWA forever and give his share of the company to the other. That’s right folks. Tonight will be the last we see of either Fritz VonErich or Jerry Jarrett as owner of the USWA. With 11 matches on the card, let’s get to the ring and get this historic show started. USWA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH JIMMY JAM GARVIN with PRESCIOUS VS BRAD ARMSTRONG Brad gets a nice ovation here even though he doesn’t spend all that much time in Louisiana but most of that is due to the fact that Jimmy Garvin and Precious are experts at bringing the heat down on themselves. Garvin plays the scarred heel for a while but Armstrong finally catches him and wrestles from the top for the first 4 minutes or so. The action spilled out onto the floor and with a trip by Precious we get our first momentum change. Garvin plays in rough and softens up Armstrong and he goes for his finisher, the Brainbuster. Armstrong blocked it and connected with a suplex. From here, Armstrong whips Garvin into the ropes and catches the champ into an Abdominal Stretch. As the ref bends down to ask if Garvin is going to give up …. WHAM A loaded purse by Precious and Armstrong is out. Now Garvin connects with a Brainbuster just to make it look legit. All Jim Ross can say is “That Jezebel.” And Ernie Ladd responds with “like the Armstrongs play it all on the up and up. Jim Ross, Who is the Bullet? Let’ be real and call the Armstrongs the cheaters and leave me man Jimmy Garvin alone. __________________________________________________________________________ INTERGENDER MATCH JIM CORNETTE VS BABY DOLL This match begins with Jim Cornette using the house mic to tell everyone what he is going to do to Baby Doll but as soon as she hits the ring and goes after him, he is the one running away. When she finally does catch him, she gives him a big right hand and when he jumps up off the matt, she catches him with a body slam. Cornette runs out of the ring and grabs the tennis racket. Baby Doll doesn’t seem to care and goes back at Cornette. He swings but she ducks under. As the ref admonishes Cornette, Baby Doll connects with a huge boot to family jewels. Jim Ross: Oh bah Gawd. Does Cornette have two new lumps in his throat? A three count here gives her the victory but she was not done. As Cornette slowly gets to his knees…. WHACK! A tennis racket shot of her own for good measure. Baby Doll leaves to huge applause as Cornette is face down in the center of the ring. Ernie Ladd reminds us that this might not be the last we see of this tonight as just a little later, Baby Doll’s Fabulous Ones and Cornette’s Midnight Express will be in the ring for the # contender’s match to the UWF World Tag Team Title. _________________________________________________________________________ UWF WORLD TV TITLE MATCH ICEMAN KING PARSONS VS RIP RODGERS Except for a few minutes with Rodgers on top, Iceman gets some good revenge for the Tar and Feathering he received from Rodgers just a few weeks back! The end came after the two traded a few haymakers in the ring before but Iceman knocked Rodgers down. He scooped him up for a big bodyslam and just as Rodgers made it to his feet again, Iceman hit the ropes and came off for a perfectly times Big Butt Bump! The crowd, as they had done when Iceman came to the ring, danced in the aisles as Sister Sledge and “We Are Family roared form the speakers. __________________________________________________________________________ UWF WOLRD TAG TEAM #1 CONTENDERS MATCH THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS with JIM CORNETTE VS THE FABULOUS ONES with BABY DOLL This one is ready to blow up from the second both teams come out. Baby Doll and the Fab Ones have the crowd going wild with their “Sharpe Dressed Man” entrance and they really explode as Cornette comes out with his head bandaged from the Tennis Racket shot from Baby Doll just a little while ago. We get 15minutes of some of the best tag team action around in this one. The end comes as Steve Keirn is playing the face in peril and is taking a nasty beating. Finally he blocks a punch be Eaton and connects with one of his own. He then scampers to his corner and tags in Sweet Stan Lane. Lane comes in like a house afire and knock both members of the Midnight Express to the ground. He drags them both up by the hair and WHAM Knocks their heads together. Keirn is up by now and we go a little bonzo gonzo with all 4 men in the ring. Eaton is able to catch Lane with a back body drop over the top rope as he rushed in a bit too quickly. Eaton and Condrey now double team Keirn for a minute or two as the ref is on the verge of losing control. He seems to have forgotten Lane is the legal man in the ring and is not making a 10 count. Eaton eventually goes for the Alabama Jam but is shoved off awkwardly by Lane who finally made his way back to the apron. Eaton is down and the ref checks on him when …. WHAM A tennis racket shot for the second time tonight. This one by Cornette on Lane. Lane tumbles inside the ring as Baby Doll chases Cornette all the way back to the locker room. Condrey connects with one last shot on Keirn and then scampers over to make the cover on Lane. 1… 2… 3. Ernie Ladd is hyping up the fact that the Midnight Express are the new #1 contenders for the UWF Tag Titles while Jim Ross is screaming that the ref has lost complete control and that Condrey was not even the legal man in the ring so how could he make a pin attempt. It seems like Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express have outsmarted the UWF once again and Ernie Ladd is loving every minute of it. __________________________________________________________________________ STEEL CAGE MATCH JIMMY SNUKA VS DINGO WARRIOR with SKANDAR AKBAR After short break, we get about 12 minutes of Snuka brawling with the Dingo Warrior. The Warrior and his powerful build has perfected a view power moves in his rookie year but Snuka really carries the match. After using his head as a weapon with a series of headbutts, Snuka tosses Warrior headfirst into the cage. Warrior staggers back and falls right in the center of the ring. Time for the Super Fly Splash but this time Snuka climbs all the way to the top of the cage and launches himself from 15 feet in the air across the ring and right onto the mid-section of Dingo. The crowd is in awe at what they have just seen and Snuka is high fiving the fans as he leaves to go back to the locker room _________________________________________________________________________ UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP THE ROAD WARRIORS with PAUL ELLERING VS SKANDAR AKBAR’S MYSTERY TEAM The Road Warriors are first to the ring an eager to get this bout started. Akbar comes out next and grabs the house mic and tells everybody in the audience to hide the women and children as this will be the most violent match anyone has ever seen All of a sudden, face painted and all, out comes Konga the Barbarian and Haku! Jim Ross: Bah Gawd… The Faces of Fear are in the Louisiana Superdome and they are every bit as big and strong as the Road Warriors. Animal and Hawk leave the ring and rush up the aisle and meet the Faces of Fear even before they get to the ring. Total chaos ensues and we have fighting all over the arena. Nothing is save. The steel barricade, the announce table and chairs with fans in them are all used as weapons. Finally the ref calls for the bell are rules this mess a No Contest but that does little to stop the mayhem. Wrestlers and refs alike come out of the locker room to try and restore order but as long as the TV cameras were rolling, the fighting was going on. It took a TV break to get order restored. __________________________________________________________________________ UWF NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN VS TED DIBIASE (NO DQ: LOUISIANA STREET FIGHT) No rules here just means come as you are and beat the crap out of each other for 20 minutes. After many momentum changes, the end is utterly wild. Dibiase is in control and connects with a knee to Duggan’s gut. He whips Duggan into the corner and Duggan hits the turnbuckle hard and he staggers to the middle. We see one of the few moments of actual wrestling now as Dibiase takes Duggan down with a drop step toe hold that he quickly turns into his finisher, The Figure 4. Duggan is in serious pain but somehow reverses it and now it is Dibiase in trouble. Dibiase now gets help from the Rat Pack as Buddy Landell and Eric Embry hit the ring in this no DQ bout. They give it to Duggan for a minute or two before the crowd pops as Michael Hayes and Buddy Robert hit the ring. Dibiase is about to clock Duggan, who is being held by Embry, with the loaded black glove. Michael Hayes jumps in with headlock on Dibiase. Hayes follows up that with a big running Bulldog! Dibiase takes some time to get to his feet but Duggan is just setting him up for a huge football tackle. As Duggan rushes in, we see Dibiase side step the tackle and Duggan hits the ring post hard and goes down. Dibiase hops up onto the 2nd rope and jumps off backwards connecting with a massive elbow drop. Hayes in desperation grabs the 2 x 4 as Dibiase goes for the pin. 1… Hayes loads up on the 2 x4 and is about to swing at the head of Dibiase. 2… CRACK Eric Embry connects with a Super Kick to the head of Michael Hayes. 3. Jim Ross: Just look at the carnage! Ted Dibiase and the Rat Pack have left Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the Freebirds spewed all over the ring and Ted Dibiase is the NEW UWF NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION! __________________________________________________________________________ BATTLE FOR THE USWA TENNESSEE VS TEXAS MATCH #1 UWF WORLD 6 MAN TITLE MATCH THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER ARMY (Tommy Rich, Eddie Gilbert & Honky Tonk Man) VS KENDALL WINDHAM, BARRY WINDHAM & BLACKJACK MULLIGAN The UWF 6 Man Champions are getting good at playing the heel and it is no different here as they use every dirty tactic in the book. The only difference is that at least have the crowd is behind them. This Tennessee-Texas War has divided fans down the middle and heel or face doesn’t make much difference here. In the end, we see Blackjack and Barry brawling with Honky Tonk and Gilbert on the outside while Rich is in the ring with Kendell. Kendell misses a back flip after he whipped Rich into the ropes and Rich comes back with a Thesz Press. Wildfire rolls out of the ring as the ref turns his attention to the action outside of the ring for just a second. Rich comes back to the ring with a towel and puts it over the face of Kendell. Windham struggles for a few seconds and then seems to pass out from whatever is on the towel. With Kendell out on his feet, Rich picks him up and puts him in a sleeper to make it look legit! The ref turns back and sees the sleeper and picks and drops Kendell’s arm 3 times for the knock out win for the 6 Man Champs. Rich kicks the towel out of the ring and Gilbert quickly disposes of the evidence. Ernie Ladd: War is War and we now see Jerry Jarrett up 1-0 in this Battle for the USWA. One thing is for certain, Tennessee agrees with me…. In War….”By Any Means Necessary.” Jim Ross: Of course you would say that, the only fight you ever liked was a fixed one. Ernie Ladd: Watch it Ross, watch it! __________________________________________________________________________ BATTLE FOR THE USWA TENNESSEE VS TEXAS MATCH #2 THE TENNESSEE STUD STABLE & RICKY MORTON VS MIKE, KEVIN & KERRY VON ERICH The VonErichs are waiting in the center of the ring as the Tennessee team is taking some time to come out. Finally, they come out but it appears that Jimmy Golden is really dazed. Ross notes that he just doesn’t look right, and the match basically becomes a handicap match. Golden plays no part in the match except for the end. Fuller and Morton do their best but just both seem to be trading places as to he is getting the beating. With Morton and Golden outside the ring, Fuller is taking it pretty good from the VonErichs. Mike rushes the opponent’s corner and drop kicks Morton to the floor. He then whips Fuller in the corner and right into Golden where the ref signals a legal tag has been made. Mike monkey flips Golden in to the ring and tags in Kerry who connects with one big Tornado Punch. Golden is out on his feet as Kerry tags in Kevin who climbs to the top rope for a Von Erich barefooted Super Splash! Fuller tries to make the save but to no avail as Kerry simple catches him in a Brain Claw. This war is all even now at one apiece. At the end of the match, Robert Fuller grabs the house microphone! Robert Fuller: EDDIE GILBERT! TOMMY RICH! YOU HAVE GONE TO FAR. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT TENNESSEE BUT YOU CAN’T STOP YOUR SHENNANIGANS EVEN FOR ONE NIGHT. ONE OF YOU TWO PUT AN EITHER SOAKED TOWEL AROUND JIMMY’S FACE AND MAY HAVE CAUSED SOME SERIOUS BRAIN INJURIES. FOR WHAT? TO TRY AND PROVE THAT YOU ARE THE REAL STUDS? LISTEN CLOSELY BOYS, WE ARE COMING TO TAKE YOU OUT. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF IT’S FOR FRITZ, JERRY JARRETT, WATTS OR CONTINNTAL CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING….. YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED! Jim Ross: Ernie, what were you saying about war? It seems Rich and Gilbert are just out for themselves. Ernie Ladd: I knew I liked them two. __________________________________________________________________________ UWF UNIFIED WORLD TITLE MATCH: “THE UNIVERSAL HEARTTHROB” AUSTIN IDOL with FREDDIE BLASSIE VS JUNKYARD DOG A 4 part match here. Dog with the quick start after his Dog Chain Swinging Entrance to “Another One Bites the Dust” followed by Idol on top following an eye rake. Dog then plays the top again and seems on the verge of victory after a Big Thump but nothing is ever as it seems with Blassie around. A perfectly timed Pearl Harbor attack by Teddy Muscles and David Sammartino give JYD the win but by DQ so Idol retains the title. JYD takes it pretty good here until he finally gets some help from some old faces who I can’t reveal just now as I am posting this show a little early and the trades are not complete! __________________________________________________________________________ BATTLE FOR THE USWA TENNESSEE VS TEXAS MATCH #3 TERRY GORDY, JERRY LAWLER & RIC FLAIR VS STAN HANSEN, DICK MURDOCH & DUSTY RHODES This is plain and simply the match of the year in the UWF. Not only is the company on the line but we could take any two names here and it would be a Main Event. It is also the hardest match I have had to write so far. With so much on the line and the names involved in the match, I really can’t see anyone of them doing the job here. My only solution…. A total screw job where none of the wrestlers know the real outcome coming into the match. This math goes nearly 30 minutes and has everything you would expect. Momentum changes, power moves, some technical wrestling and a lot of outside the ring action. We get a powerslam by Gordy on Rhodes. We have a huge lariat by Hansen on Flair. We get a second rope fist drop with the wrestling singlet dropped down under his arm by Lawler on Murdoch. We get the Bionic Elbow by Rhodes on Flair. We even get the “Now We Go to School” quote by Flair as he locked in the Figure 4 on Rhodes. With so much on the line the fans were on the edge of their seats. At one point, we have Hansen in the ring against Flair. Hansen whips Flair into the ropes as he goes for another Lariat on the NWA champ. Flair ducks under but ref, Pee Wee Anderson is in an awful position and takes the full force of the blow. A running lariat by Hansen on the diminutive Anderson nearly takes his head off and Pee Wee is down and out. Action continues for a while with no ref. Hansen and Flair continue their war on the outside where Hansen brings a chair into play. Flair is bloodied and Hansen continues to go to work. Bam Bam and Murdoch are also outside the ring trading some of the biggest haymakers seen in this sport. That leaves Rhodes and Lawler, the top two challengers to Idol’s UWF tittle battling it out in the ring with no referee. Lawler connects with another second rope fist drop and goes for a pin but still no referee. Lawler then goes for a piledriver but Rhodes blocks it. Rhodes turns the piledriver into a back body drop and connects with a series of Bionic Elbows. Rhodes then goes for a piledriver of his own and connects. Lawler is out! Rhodes goes for the pin but still no Pee Wee Anderson. WHAM!!!! Somehow Flair on the outside had gotten control of the chair and laid Hansen out. Flair then entered the ring and cracked Rhodes right in the head with the chair. Rhodes is no busted open and is out. Flair drags Lawler on top but still no ref. Jim Ross: Bah Gawd look who it is. It is suspended referee Bronco Lubich coming to the ring. Ernie Ladd: I don’t think he is suspended anymore. He is in his black and white shirt and is in the ring. 1… 2… 3. Jim Ross: I can’t believe what I have just seen here tonight. I am not even sure if this was legal but the team from Tennessee is celebrating in the ring. Dusty Rhodes looks truly shocked! Fritz VonErich is no longer in charge of the USWA. Welcome to the Jerry Jarrett Era or at least that is what we believe. We will need Cowboy Watts o give us some answer. Watts comes down to ringside and informs Ross and everyone else that Bronco Lubich, the senior official for the entire UWF, was suspended 90 days for actions unbecoming of a referee. That suspension came to an end yesterday and he was reinstated. Our rules are very clear. If one referee is down and another is available to take his place, they must do so. Bronco saw Pee Wee get injured by the Lariat and quickly got dressed. His three count was not only legal, it is exactly what he should have done! Jim Ross: What a night it has been for Tennessee and Jerry Jarrett and what a nightmare it has been for the American Dream. So long from New Orleans.
  12. I must admit that I have trouble with the Spoiler not playing the heel but it works here and I thought the segment with the Midnight Rockers was awesome. That is a creative way to give young talent an real push and get the fans behind them right away. I am unsure which is true... it is either the beginning of the end for Backlund and that might very well be the case by mid 85 or it is the rising star of Smirnoff. Either way, it will be fun to keep an eye on this.
  13. USWA WRESTLING: 6/22/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 DALLAS, TEXAS LAST USWA/UWF SHOW BEFORE BATTLEGROUND. WILL RESUME WEEKLY SHOWS AFTER FAMILY VACATION IN THE SECOND WEEK OF JULY “Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling, a UWF Promotion, from the world’s most famous wrestling arena, The Sportatorium in downtown Dallas, Texas. I am Lance Russell along with Fritz Von Erich. SHORT VERSION AGAIN DUE TO MOVING….. JUST USED TO HYPE UP BATTLEGROUND ON JULY 3rd IN THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME! TENNESSEE VS TEXAS ANGLE: Both Jerry Jarrett and Fritz are in studio and they reveal their teams in the Winner-Take-The Company- 6 Man Matches. Jarret goes first as says he is putting the UWF WORLD 6 MAN Champions, the Tennessee Volunteer Army in the first match which is Tommy “Wildfire” Rich, Eddie “Hot Stuff” Gilbert and the Honky Tonk Man with the titles on the line! Fritz, with a smile on his face, says he is so excited by Jarrett’s first team as it means that he will not only win control of the USWA but will also be in control of the 6 man titles. Fritz: I am proud to announce, the next UWF 6 Man Champions, one of the best wrestling families in history….. Jarrett: “Ok, ok your three sons are in!” Fritz: Hold on a second, as I was saying, my first team from one of the greatest wrestling families in history…. From Sweetwater, Texas…. Kendall Windham, Barry Windham and Blackjack Mulligan! Lance Russell: Wow that will be some matchup. Ok, Fritz, you are up first this time. Who will be your second team? Fritz: Well Jarrett here just rushed things a little, the second team will be my sons…. Mike, Kevin & Kerry. Jerry Jarrett: I guess I will not even need to have a third team. Easy win for Tennessee here with the Stud Stable; Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden joined by Ricky Morton. Lance Russell: Wow, I can’t imagine it getting any better than this. Jerry who be your main event team. Jerry Jarrett: My main event team will be Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy and Jerry Lawler. Lance: That is only 2 who will be the third? Jerry Jarrett: Let’s take a look at the video screen. A video starts with just a sound… “WHOOOOOOOOO” and then we see Ric Flair who is all hyped up to be coming home to Tennessee for the biggest event in wrestling! Fritz is fuming and tries to argue that Ric Flair is from North Carolina but Jarrett reminds him the deal was for wrestlers born in the state! Fritz is huffing and puffing but goes on to name his Main Event team….. Dick “Captain Redneck” Murdoch, Stan “the Lariat” Hansen and “the American Dream” Dusty Rhodes!! Lance reviews and hypes these matches up for the fans and reminds both Jarrett and Fritz that one of them will be out of USWA Wrestling for good after Battleground. 1. Tommy Rich, Eddie Gilbert, and Honky Tonk Wayne vs Kendall Windham, Barry Windham and Blackjack Mulligan for the UWF World 6 Man Title 2. Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden and Ricky Morton vs Mike, Kevin and Kerry VonErich 3. Terry Gordy, Ric Flair and Jerry Lawler vs Stan Hansen, Dick Murdoch and Dusty Rhodes UWF UNIFIED WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: We see Teddy Muscles, David Sammartino, Freddie Blassie and Austin Idol attack JYD during his match with Man Mountain Link to try and ensure that JYD doesn’t make it to Battleground. They really go after the knees as we here Lance telling us that is to set up the Idol’s finisher, the Vegas Leg Lock. We finally see Rhodes and Murdoch come make the save but JYD has to be helped out of the ring. Later in the show, JYD who is now on crutches, promises revenge but again he is attacked by Blassie’s gang who now break the crutches over JYD’s back. This is how the show ended. JIMMY SNUKA- DINGO WARRIOR ANGLE: Due to more outside interference from Akbar’s gang during Snuka’s TV match against Ron Sexton we find out the Snuka-Warrior match will take place inside a steel cage. FABULOUS ONES VS MIDNIGHT EXPRESS ANGLE: Jim Cornett tells us that his momma said that he must except the match against Baby Doll so that his Midnight Express gets the #1 Contenders Match against the Fabulous Ones. Cornett goes on to say that he told his momma that she said that he was never to hit a women but his mother said that was fine because Baby Doll aint no women. This brought Baby Doll out along with the Fab Ones where she was about to smack Cornette again but this time he and the Midnight Express ran for the hills TV TITLE ANGLE We see Rip Rodgers win an easy match against Randy Barber where he tries to tar and feather Barber like he did Iceman two weeks ago. Iceman makes the save and throws a few haymakers before whipping Rodgers into the ropes and connecting with a Big Butt Bump which sends Rodgers through the ropes. Iceman dares him to come back into the ring but Rodgers heads for higher ground. Iceman is all fired up about how he can’t wait to get his hands on Rodgers at Battleground. NORTH AMERICAN TITLE ANGLE: HACKSAW DUGGAN/ TED DIBIASE/DR. DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS Here we get a match between the two biggest stars in the Rat Pack, Dibiase and Williams to determine who will get the title shot at Battleground. Eric Embry and Buddy Landell beg them no to wrestle as it will break apart their alliance. Dibiase and Williams are just too arrogant to give the other the upper hand and head to the ring. We get about a minute of some serious pushing and shoving when all of a sudden, Dr. Death throws the biggest punch of the night but Dibiase ducks under the blow and simply taps Dr. Death on the chest. The big man from Oklahoma acts like he was shot by a cannon and hits the floor. Dibiase simply covers him for the made up three count and the two laugh all the way back to the interview desk. Dr. Death says he joined the Rat Pack for one reason and that is to put Terry Gordy out of wrestling and he doesn’t care about titles. Dibiase says that the Rat Pack is the strongest alliance is all of wrestling and Duggan is just plain dumb if he thought he could break them apart. UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: ROAD WARRIORS VS SHEIKS Due to Ken Patera and Crusher Blackwell missing mandatory workouts, Skandar Akbar announces that he has fired both Crusher Blackwell and Ken Patera and that they are no longer in the UWF. He announces that he has signed the most dangerous team in all of wrestling and that they will take the place of Patera and Blackwell at Battleground. Paul Ellering comes out and protests the fact that they have a match signed with Patera and Blackwell and that since they are a no show, the Road Warriors must win by forfeit. Cowboy Watts comes out and for once agrees with General Skandar Akbar. He says the match is scheduled against the “Sheiks” and that the contract does not specify who the sheiks really are. Therefore, Akbar’s mystery team will be given the title shot. Watts warns Akbar that there better be no funny business and that his new team better be as good as he says they are! Akbar just smiles and is beaming with even more confidence then usually and for once, we see Precious Paul Ellering a bit concerned. USWA TITLE MATCH: Jimmy Garvin & Precious vs Brad Armstrong We see Garvin in a squash math here against Terry Adonis and then an interview that has Garvin calling Armstrong, Brad Puny Arms and saying that his father aint nothing and that he is less than nothing. ALL ROADS LEAD TO BATTLEGROUND……. Show will be posted tomorrow as I will be away after that.
  14. Great idea. Should I take his roster off of free agency and make it official?
  15. Great stuff. Love how you always give the business and backstage side of wrestling. The glimpse into the locker room with the jersey and sake was very realistic but no fan ever thought of it. Many of us write from that fans perspective but you give us a unique look into what wrestling truly was and is.
  16. Sorry Milo is a jobber for UWF
  17. UWF, believing that Ken Patera has been ruled in active until 1987, releases him to free agency and moves Norvelle Austin to a regular roster spot and adds Ken Raper into the jobber pack. UWF also releases Tiger Conway Jr. and moves Lanny Poffo to a regular roster spot and adds Steve Gatorwolf as a jobber. UWF releases Buzz Tyler and moves Master G George Wells to a regular spot and adds Might Milo to a regular spot.
  18. With the open spot by trading Crusher to Lutte, UWF adds Pez Whatley
  19. UWF sends Crusher Blackwell and its second round pick in the 86 fresh face draft for Lutte's first round pick.
  20. Bruiser takes the cash! That alone is going to bring him so serious heat. Wildfire Rich is great as a baby face but truly magnificent as a heel! Love the Stud Stable feud!
  21. Very nice booking. I must say looking at the match ups, I thought Kendell was going to lose each match. Great revenge by Dusty but I think he really wants Idol and another title shot.
  22. In a rather strange twist, it has been reported that this week's television show will be the last one for USWA and the UWF on WTBS. Owner Cowboy Bill Watts has been annoyed by Ted Turner and the fact that he continued to push Mid-Atlantic Wrestling and the NWA on WTBS and give the UWF and the USWA lesser time slots. Watts has been able to work out a deal with mega millionaire Edward Gaylord who owns KTVT Channel 11 from Dallas, Texas which one of only a hand full of superstations currently running in the United States. Its feed already reaches all homes in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Arkansas and is growing everyday. When Gaylord was asked what does KTVT stand for he simply replied "Television for Texans." Some wrestling fans in the know have read into this quote and believes that Fritz VonErich now has the upper hand to win control of Battleground from Jerry Jarrett and keep the company centered in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. When this was brought up to Gaylord he simply replied that he is a wrestling fan and that his superstation will soon by nation wide and just last year he bought and restored the Grand Old Opry in Nashville which he believes is Jarrett country and soon to be KTVT. When asked what time slots he will give to wrestling he said that outside of Texas Ranger baseball games, wrestling will be his biggest push and they can have prime time when ever they like. When asked if there is also time for Continental Championship Wrestling in Florida and Alabama he said yes but it might be best if he works out some agreement with WTOG, the superstation in Florida that has began to air CCW. The Prime Time Super Card from The Louisiana Superdome on July 3rd will be the first UWF show to air on KTVT.
  23. I agree with Gene. Al Madril is very underrated and he is in a perfect situation here. I also like Steve Simpson getting a run here. He had the look of a top star and sometimes that is enough to get you some shine.
  24. I like the way you are building up Nikita here. Week in and week out, he is getting a push to the top without being the center of the show. Wherever Gary Hart goes he builds a stable of monsters and causes havoc. He is such a great manager and promoter of himself that is wonderful on any roster. WWF continues to invade markets and turn the fans into raging Hulkamaniacs. Great job in Canada and WWF is quickly becoming a world sensation. You are so organized and I know you have everything planned out but would love to hear more from Savage to see if he is really turning sides.
  25. Again .... CCW is so creative. From the pink belt of Street to the two super tournaments coming up. Blassie and Humperdink have got two wild stables forming here and they keep getting bigger and wilder. From Super Olympia to Death Wish, the fans and wrestlers best stay on their toes. Teddy Muscles is being used perfectly here. He was never a great speaker but with a manager around he doesn't have to be. He was also just a robotic powerhouse but with the role of enforcer and a match here and there, his weaknesses can be covered up. Florida is about to go wild with the Prince of Darkness. Poor, poor Baahhb Ahhrmstrong. The Stud Stables at war is great. Should make Battleground interesting as they will share a locker room.
