Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Shreveport, Louisiana and the Irish McNeil’s Boys Club here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Well that’s right folks, we do have a new UWF UNINIFED WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION…. AUSTIN IDOL who will be joining us in just a little while but first let’s get to the ring for our first match. MATCH: JYD VS BUZZ TYLER A pretty good match here where JYD got the fans into right away with his dog collar swinging rendition of “Another One Bites the Dust.” JYD tired of Tyler’s dirty tactics and finished up the match when he followed up a series of standing headbuts which a Big Thump. JYD went over to the interview desk where he was congratulated for his victory. All of a sudden the interview was cut short when it was interrupted by Austin Idol and Classy Freddy Blassie. Jim Ross: Wait a minute, Mr. Idol. You will have to wait your turn. Austin Idol: It is always my time. I am the Unified Champion and this boy over here needs to step aside. JYD: Who you calling boy you bleached blonde blowhard. This is my time and you don’t want to get in the way of the dog! Blassie: Listen up you pencil nosed geek…. You are nothing compared to my man here. You are not in his class. You are not worthy of our time. Keep working hard, and maybe, just maybe, we will let you carry our bags. JYD: Now wait a minute…. Blassie: You have wasted enough of our time and now you must pay. WHAM! Teddy Muscles and David Sammartino hit the area and put the boots to JYD. Idol doesn’t even seem to want to be bothered and just stands by the side as Blassie’s henchmen do the work. The crowd roars as the Freebirds hit the scene and help rescue the Dog. Jim Ross takes us to break and he hopes order can be restored when they return. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: THE ROAD WARRIORS with PAUL ELLERING VS LANNY POFFO & BRETT WAYNE A complete squash match with the end coming when the Road Warriors hit the Doomsday Device on Poffo. At the interview desk, Paul Ellering does most of the talking and it is directed at Skandar Akbar. He is white hot about the match between the Road Warriors and The Sheiks (Patera & Blackwell) last night in Little Rock. Jim Ross informs the fans that the Road Warriors won a monster brawl. And as part of their victory, Ellering was to get 5 minutes alone in the ring against Akbar. Before Ellering could get in the ring, the Dingo Warrior hit the ring and connected with a Warrior Smash on Ellering. Hawk and Animal chased Dingo up the aisle but this left an injured Ellering at the mercy of Akbar! Paul Ellering: Dingo Warrior….. you seem to have made your choice. WRONG CHOICE! You never cross the Road Warriors. Akbar and the rest of you tribe of bandits…. Be on notice…. You are now in a World of Doom! In fact, we are the Legion of Doom! In two weeks in St. Louis… we want you in a steel cage. Titles vs Career! Whoever wins, gets the belts. Whoever loses, must leave the sport of professional wrestling. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: CHRIS BENOIT VS MAN MOUNTAIN LINK An awkward match where Benoit has trouble maneuvering the big man around the ring. In the end, Benoit claims the victory with a top rope diving headbut. After the match, we see Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death roll out an old lady in a wheel chair. This lady is missing teeth and the viewer is left just wondering what trailer park she came from. Dibiase and Williams who are dressed to the nines are portraying this lady as the mother of Hacksaw Duggan and how it is no wonder that he has no manners and dresses the way he does and goes around carrying a 2 x 4. After about 4 minutes of this angle, Hacksaw can take no more and rushes out swinging that trusty piece of wood. Dibiase and Williams scamper away but this leaves the poor old lady stranded. Hacksaw goes to her aid but it was all a play. As soon as Duggan put down the 2 x 4, the entire Rat Pack comes out and attacks Duggan. Jim Ross is furious at how the Rat Pack used this poor lady. After about a minute or so, the Rat Pack leave the interview area with Duggan face down on the floor. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT HACKSAW BUTCH REED with SKANDAR AKBAR VS TIGER CONWAY JR. A match between two pretty good athletes here but Reed’s power just is too much. The end comes with a Gorilla Press Slam. At the interview desk, Reed is sick and tired about being passed over for title shots. Akbar seems to change the topic and quickly accepts the Title vs Career challenge that was offered by Paul Ellering and the Road Warriors. Ernie Ladd is excited by this match up but Reed seems a little surprised that Akbar’s focus was not on him as he truly believes he is “the Man” here in Mid-South Wrestling. Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport!

I am Lance Russell and once again I am joined by the young guest announcer, Jeff Jarrett. That’s right folks, with the aid of Freddie Blassie and the son of the legendary Bruno Sammartino, David Sammartino, and Austin Idol has defeated the American Dream to become the UWF Universal Heavyweight Champion. Lance Russell: And wrestling fans that was not the only title to change hands this week. Let’s get right back to the video tape from last week’s event right here in Memphis and the Mid-South Coliseum. A No Disqualification Bout between Kerry Von Erich with Precious vs Jimmy Garvin with Nanny Simpson. The video begins and we see Kerry VonErich wrestling from on top here and catches Garvin with a Tornado Punch and Garvin goes down hard. Kerry follows it up with the Iron Claw and Garvin is in a bad way. All of a sudden, Nanny Simpson rushes in and tries to take Kerry’s head of with the “Loaded Purse.” Precious gets there just in time and knocks Nanny away. Kerry is red hot at Nanny and grabs her. The crowd is going wild as Precious lines up to hit Nanny with the purse while Kerry holds her. WHAM! Precious clocks Kerry right in the head and he goes down like a sack of potatoes. Both Nanny and Precious help Garvin make the cover on Kerry. As we see the ref make the 3 count, Garvin, Nanny and Precious all celebrate in the center of the ring as they are handed the USWA Heavyweight Championship! As the video ends we see Jimmy Garvin and Precious at the interview desk. Jimmy Garvin: Are the VonErichs that arrogant or just plain stupid? I mean 90 days is 90 days. Did Kerry really think Precious would turn on her man? I mean it took us all of 2 minutes to come up with a plan to use her niece, Nanny and for Precious to play the jealous girl! Did that dumb Texan believe someone like Precious would ever be by his side on purpose? Well the title is mine and there’s no way I am given it up! Stupid VonErichs! The funny thing here is the Texas-Tennessee War is so hot that the fans seem pleased here in Memphis that Garvin suckered Kerry! MATCH: JIMMY SNUKA VS RON SEXTON Snuka with an easy win here with the Super Fly Splash! At the interview desk, Snuka is asked about the Dingo Warrior and the idea that he might join Skandar Akbar and his stable of monsters. Snuka doesn’t seem worried and let’s everyone know he has friends to and if this gets bloody, he is ready to go! When asked who his friends are, Snuka simply smiles and tells them to wait and see. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Lance Russell: Well fans, coming out next is Jerry Jarrett and he has a major announcement for all the USWA fans. Jeff Jarrett: Hi Daddy! Jerry Jarrett: Well it is obvious to all involved that the feud between Tennessee and Texas is reaching a dangerous level. It has been proven that even bloodshed will not solve it. Maybe the problem is not the wrestlers but the two old goats running USWA….. Myself and Fritz VonErich. He has his ways and I have mine and together we are like oil and water. Cowboy Bill Watts has stepped and told us “A House Divided Cannot Stand,” and that if USWA is going to continue to be a part of the UWF, one of must go. That will happen at the next big UWF Super Card on July 3rd. This card is being tabbed as “Battleground” and will take place at the Louisiana Superdome! Along with other huge matches, there will be 3 Six Man Tag Matches consisting of only wrestlers from Texas and Tennessee. Each match will be worth 1 point. First side to get 2 points wins. If Texas wins, I must give up more share of the USWA and if Tennessee wins, Fritz is OUT! Lance Russell: Wow, I have heard of Loser-Leave Town Matches but this is a Loser-Loses his Company Match! Jeff Jarrett: Ummm, Dad are you sure about his? I mean we have big plans. Jerry Jarrett: I am sure and I am excited to announce one of my three teams is headed to the ring right now! MATCH: UWF 6 Man World Champions THE TENNESSE VOLUNTEER ARMY (Rich, Gilbert and Honky Tonk Wayne Ferris) VS BOBBY JAGGERS, MAN MOUNTAIN LINK & THE CUBAN ASSASSIN The Tennessee Volunteer Army gets a huge ovation here in Memphis and after a hard fought match that had some real back and forth to it, we see Honky Tonk get the victory with a Swinging Neck breaker on Man Mountain Link. The Champs spend a quick moment at the interview desk where the thank Jerry Jarrett for choosing them as one of his Tennessee Teams and that they will do the Volunteer State proud! The hope they get to beat those lowly VonErich boys again! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS with JIM CORNETTE (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey) VS RANDY BARBER & LANNY POFFO Jim Cornette: Ladies and Gentlemen, there are a lot of mothers in the world but there is only one mother who is the best. That’s right, my mother. I mean it was her funds that bought the Midnight Express! Now you no class ingrates gets to see the greatest tag team in the world today……Beautiful Bobby and Loverboy Dennis…...The Midnight Express. Oh and mother, send my allowance. A total squash match here with the end coming when Condrey launches Eaton into the air for a Rocket Launcher! Back at the interview desk, Cornette is beginning another of his rants about how his team deserves a title match when all of a sudden Baby Doll saunters out. Jim Cornette: Oh brother, not the two tons of mascara again. Baby Doll, I am warning you if you come one step closer I might not be able to control this tennis racket in my hand. Baby Doll: Jim Cornette… any time you got the guts, I will take you on a beat you like that mommy of yours should have done years ago but right now I am out here to let you know that your team is not the greatest. All I had to do was say that I was looking for a team to beat Jim Cornette and his band of losers and within 5 minutes, the teams were lined up at my door…… Jim Cornette: Are you sure that is why they were lined up at your door. I mean look at that outfit you are wearing. Bobby Eaton: Come on. I have had enough of this. I dropped Baby Doll like a …. WHACK Baby Doll smacks Eaton but now she is in some trouble as the Midnight Express begins to close in. The crowd explodes as Jeff Jarrett simply says “There Back.” The Fabulous Ones, Steve Keirn and Stan Lane hit the interview area and go wild on the Midnight Express who scamper back to the locker room with the Fab Ones in hot pursuit. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Before our main event, Lance Russell and Jeff Jarrett really hype up the return of the Fab Ones and what that means not only for the Midnight Express but the entire tag team division. All of a sudden, Jerry “The King” Lawler comes out and hypes up the fact that Tennessee is going to wipe the floor with the Texas boys at Battleground and that there is no reason to wait until July 3rd. He calls out any wrestler from Texas to come out now and get in the ring with him and he guarantees the match won’t even go 5 minutes. The Memphis crowd goes wild as he heads to the ring where he waits. His gesturing to the locker room is all a ruse as he believes there is nobody here tonight from Texas! He is just so cocky but the crowd loves it. Lance Russell: Oh my God…. Look who is coming to the ring. It is the American Dream. MAIN EVENT: DUSTY RHODES VS JERRY LAWLER A ref rushes out and this impromptu match is under way. A complete and under brawl that sees Dusty get the upper hand. Dusty hits a few Bionic Elbows and the Memphis crowd is seeing their King getting beat from pillar to post. As Rhodes seems on the verge of victory ….. Lance Russell: What in the Sam Hill is this…..? Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy hits the ring. Jeff Jarrett: YES!!! The Big Man from Chattanooga baby! The Tennessee Volunteer Army is getting bigger and bigger. Gordy grabs Rhodes and whips him off the ropes and connects with a huge powerslam! Gordy is bouncing all around the ring just daring Rhodes to get up. Lance Russell: Oh my, what is going on here? Jeff Jarrett: NO Lance Russell: It seems like the Original Texas Outlaws are back together again. It is Captain Redneck, Dick Murdoch. Murdoch hits the ring and meets Gordy in the center of the ring. Haymaker after haymaker are being thrown here. Lawler and Rhodes are back up and the show is going Bonzo Gonzo here. Lance Russell: What a night this has been. This Texas-Tennessee rivalry is getting out of hand. Not sure we can wait to the Louisiana Superdome on July 3rd. So long from Memphis!

Good work Rain. It is hard to know how quick to push the young talent in the game and you are doing a nice job here of keeping Lex working with some older guys to help guide him.

Just love the style. Your use of American wrestlers makes it more interesting to me as that is what I am familiar with. Love the 3 Way handshake with Lawler, Murdoch and Jumbo. Inoki seems like he has some work ahead of him. The best re able to assume many roles and he should I understand that and go with it. How common was it to see Americans in the 3 final matches? I enjoy it but doe Japan?

With the idea of what is best for UWF and with CCW expanding into Florida, the UWF sends Sir Oliver Humperderdink back to the CCW.

In terms of fantasy booking, it is all how you use a guy versus what his in ring abilities and mic skills truly are. This is one in real like David Sammartino was a bust but in just two days, he has risen to the top of the most hated wrestlers in all of the game! Great job as always.

I love how your TV shows are so much better then the crap WWF put out in the 1980's. Tito and Santana would have been the best match of the decade on TV. I must say that have been having trouble buying Sika as a singles wrestler but that is only because I am stubborn and just see the Wild Samoans but I am sure I will grow to love him as you are a master at promoting things. Hogan must run this gauntlet of heels but I wonder if his toughest opponents are not in the tag division right now.

Enjoyed the series of shows. Not sure if Malenko over II would be an upset at this stage of his career. Funk is hot right now and might deserve a run with Flair but maybe the loss by TA sets him up for a long feud to the title!!

Wish I was in Huntsville for this one. I thought the card was great as it had a lot of twists and turns. Finally someone has found a use for David Sammartino. Dusty might actually kill him! Something like this propels Sammartino to heights he never reached before.

Just to let everyone know, I added a few names to free agency who were in the NWA territory of Hawaii at the time. UWF releases Kendo Nagasaki which gives me two regular spots open and a jobber spot. I would like to add Farmer Boy Ipo and the Samoan LeRoy Brown to regular spots and and Art Crews to a jobber spot.

5/25/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 TULSA, OKLAHOMA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: DUSTY RHODES NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: TOMMY RICH, EDDIE GILBERT & HONKY TONK WAYNE FERRIS UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: ICEMAN PARSONS Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Tulsa Convention Center here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd both hype up last week’s event in Alexandria at the Rapides Parish Coliseum and pay special attention to the UWF World Tag Team Title bout between the Road Warriors and The Sheiks (Crusher Blackwell and Ken Patera) We see a quick video tape of the end of that match where the ref had totally lost control and everybody was in the ring at the same time. Even Akbar and Ellering where going at it on the outside. The ref is forced to call for a Double DQ but this does little to stop the action. Eventually wrestlers and officials have to come down to stop the brawl but you could imagine how that went. When the video ends, we see the Road Warriors and Ellering at the interview table where they are fuming mad. They want the Sheiks so bad that they are willing to put their titles on the line in Little Rock on June 1st; under one stipulation that is. When the Road Warriors win their bout, Paul Ellering gets the Sheik in the ring all by himself! Akbar doesn’t hesitate and he comes right to the interview desk with the Sheiks (Blackwell, Patera & Reed) and accepts the challenge but it looks like this might not wait until Little Rock. Both teams are in each other’s faces as Jim Ross tries to calm things down and reminds the Road Warriors that they are at a numbers disadvantage. As you would expect that does nothing to calm this fire storm. All of a sudden the American Dream comes out and gets right in the face of Hacksaw Reed. Ross informs us that the Dream and Reed also had some barnburner in Alexandria and that it ended in 30 minute draw but at the conclusion of that match, Reed hit Rhodes with a low blow and then Akbar and Reed really went to town! Cowboy Bill Watts struts out and demands calm. He informs us that he has already granted the Sheiks a rematch in Little Rock and that if the Road Warriors win, Akbar will go one on one with Ellering. Everyone seems cool with that until…. CRACK! A huge bull rope is cracked and out comes The Long Riders (Bill & Scott Irwin) who remind everyone that there will be no title defense for the Road Warriors on June 1st because they will NO LONGER BE THE CHAMPIONS. Bill Irwin: You two may think you are big and bad with your Mohawk hairdos, your studded dog collars and face paint but we know that is all a gimmick. When you got to do that much to make yourself look tough, you aint tough at all! Scott Irwin: And after we take those belts from you, we got no problem beating a couple a pretend A-RABS just for the fun of it! Cowboy Watts: Don’t worry! Whoever the champions will be, must fulfill all signed titles matches so whoever comes out of that Super Card, The Rocket City Rumble, in Huntsville will face the Sheiks in Little Rock the following week. Hacksaw Reed: Wait a minute all you suckers! Let’s remember one thing! Around here, I am the Man and what the Man says; Goes! You all saw the American Sob, Dusty Rhodes lying face down on the matt in his own drool when I was finished with him last week. I demand a rematch so that belt can be around the waist of the Best There Is instead of the Fat Never Was! Cowboy Bill Watts: Well, I have an answer for you Mr. Reed. Since Mr. Akbar and his merry band of thieves here are so big on playing the numbers came, we are going to even it out tonight! In order for Hacksaw Reed to get a rematch, he will have to win a Handicap Match against the American Dream and a tag team partner of his choice in today’s Main Event! Reed, Akbar and the rest of the Sheiks have a complete fit but Watts warns then to watch their mouths as any response now could result in a suspension! As everyone walks off set, Ladd wonders why Watts always seems to come down on the side of his favorites while Ross is so amped up about the Main Event that Watts just put together! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TED DIBIASE & DR. DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS VS RON SEXTON & RANDY BARBER A complete squash match where the end comes when Dr. Death caught Sexton with the Oklahoma Stampede. At the interview desk, the two mega stars of the Rat Pack call out the UWF North American Champion, Hacksaw Duggan and Terry Gordy. Dibiase says that he will regain that title if it’s the last thing he does while Dr. Death warns Bam Bam that he is not finished with him. Jim Ross takes the opportunity to put the Rat Pack in their place by asking them to explain what happened last week in Alexandria when the Freebirds with Duggan beat the Rat Pack in an 8 Man Tag Match. Ted Dibiase: (with a smirk on his face) Just one battle in a long, long war! When all is said and done, the Rat Pack will control the UWF. That’s right folks, take your pictures now of Duggan and the rest of the Freebirds as they soon will be out of wrestling! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: CHRIS BENOIT VS BUDDY LANDELL Benoit does well here but Landell is so good at playing the scared heel. He suckers Benoit in as he pleads for mercy only to catch the rookie with an eye rake. Now the Nature Boy of the Rat Pack takes Benoit to school and snaps in the Figure 4. Benoit has no choice but to surrender. JYD is forced to rush in to help aid his young friend when Landell refuses to break the hold. JYD has his way with Landell and tosses him from pillar to post as the crowd went wild. At the interview desk, JYD is fuming mad. As he is “howlin at the moon,” he lets us know he is sick all the nonsense that has been going around here. From the Kiwi Sheeeherders to the Rat Pack, he doesn’t care who he gets in the ring with but he guarantees that the Dog will take care of business. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT UWF WORLD CHAMPION DUSTY RHODES & A MYSTERY PARTNER VS HACKSAW BUTCH REED with SKANDAR AKBAR Hacksaw Reed is in the ring first and he is all fired up. He wants to know who Dusty’s partner will be but Dusty adds to the suspense by coming out alone. Then he points to the curtain and out walks someone he goes back a long way with… The 6’9, 340 pound Blackjack Mulligan! Ross hypes this up as Ladd is fuming and can’t believe what Watts has done. As the match gets under way, Reed faces off against Rhodes in the beginning and it is all you could expect. Jim Ross: Oh my, look who is joining us here at the interview desk. It is none other than Classy Freddy Blassie and his man, The Universal Heartthrob, Austin Idol. Freddie Blassie: Shut up Ross and give me that mic. We came here to make sure the Fat Slob Dusty Rhodes doesn’t make up some excuse not to show up tomorrow night in Huntsville, Alabama at the Rocket City Rumble. We all know that he is afraid of Austin Idol. I mean just look at my man and then at Rhodes. My man is the perfect physical specimen. Look and the biceps. Look at the pectorals and then look at the roll upon roll of Rhodes’ disgusting gut. While all of this is going on, we see Reed starting to have trouble with the 2-1 attack of Rhodes and Mulligan. Rhodes connects with a Bionic Elbow and then he tags in Mulligan who comes in with the Iron Claw! Reed is struggling to survive when all of a sudden we hear Austin Idol say he has heard enough of this. He rushes over without Rhodes knowing he is coming and pulls him off the apron onto the floor. A quick bodyslam onto the concrete and Rhodes in in trouble. The ref calls for the bell but this is only the beginning…. The rest of the Sheiks (Blackwell & Patera) rush out and attack Mulligan. The Road Warriors rush out and go after the Sheiks. The Long Riders come out and go after the Road Warriors. While all of this is going on, Austin Idol is just beating on Dusty. As Jim Ross begins to sign off, we catch a glimpse of Jerry Lawler who is just hanging out over by the curtain. Jim Ross: Wow, we got some slobbernocker going on here. Look at the carnage. There are bodies all over the place. Austin Idol is stompin a mud hole and walkin it dry on Rhodes. And what is behind the appearance of one Jerry “The King” Lawler. He is a cerebral assassin and you know he has some wild plan here. What a couple of weeks it is going to be in the UWF. First, anybody near Huntsville, Alabama must get to the Rocket City Rumble. The Road Warriors are putting the World Titles on the line against the Long Riders and Dusty Rhodes is looking for revenge for this savage attack at the hands of Austin Idol. And next week in Little Rock, the Sheiks will be looking to take those World Tag Belts from whoever the champs may be. So long from Tulsa.

I have offered both Boon and now Dex at least 6-8 names on my roster. As to date, neither has wanted any. I also recently joined the NWAR game but missed the draft. I had to choose a roster from left over talent and that is what I did. A couple of players were nice enough to offer a one or two guys but it was my fault for missing the draft.

With Dex coming back in, free agency is getting pretty thin. Would anyone have a problem if I added a view people who I know were active in 85 in Hawaii which was part of the NWA. Names like Farmer Boy Ipo, Samoan LeRoy Brown, Mighty Milo, Super Samoan Sakalia and Superfly Tui Selinga.

Sounds good to me. I will take them off of free agency tomorrow when I have some time.
