NWA Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling - November 1984
Great shows! The Superstar Graham knee thing is very interesting. He was one of your main pushes Flair. I am already wondering who in next in line if the injury is serious. Killer Khan is fun. Very destructive against the jobbers and then scares the hell out of the top talent but always falls just short.

WWF on Tour December 1984
I am really excited to see how your major angles play out. Hogan vs Bockwinkle is awesome and I have no idea which way you are going with Japan and all. Funks vs Briscos: Again awesome but so tough to figure out. The Briscos are aging out and Terry as a free agent means anything could happen here. Gino vs Macho Man and through in the ladies..... could go either way. This makes for MUST SEE TV. Great Work

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
12/1/1984: WTBS 9:05-10:05 TULSA, OKLAHOMA “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Tulsa Oklahoma and the Tulsa Civic Center. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd.” The show starts with Ross and Ladd talking about the disgusting action we saw yesterday on WTBS when Harley Race continued to beat Mike Graham after their match was over prompting the USWA World Champion, Dusty Rhodes to come out and take on Race. This brawl to end brawls was only stopped when the locker room emptied pulling the two apart. Cowboy Bill Watts comes out and explains that Dusty came to him last night and demanded a match with Harley Race. Watts says he explained to Rhodes that Dibiase gets the next title shot but that had no effect on the Dream. The Dream said he would wrestle Race in a non-title match. Watts continued by saying that when he went to Race to sign the contract, Race said he would only sign it with one additional stipulation. If Race wins, the title match in the HemisFair Arena between Dusty Rhodes and Ted Dibiase will become a 3 Corner match with Harley Race. Watts says he tried to talk Dusty out of this but Rhodes would hear nothing of it. Watts really makes the crowd pop as he informs them that this match between Rhodes and Race will take place tonight on live TV. MATCH: THE FABULOUS ONES VS HACKSAW HIGGANS & JOHNNY MANTELL A nice showcase here for the Fab Ones as they prove ones again that they are major players in the tag team division. The end came when Keirn connected with a Russian Leg sweep on Mantell. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: JYD (NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION) VS IGOR VOLKOLFF A nice showcase here for the Dog as beats the hated Russian here in quick fashion with a well-executed Thump for the victory in just under 4 minutes. As Dog plays to the fans, there is a slight problem with the timing of the show as Devastation Inc. heads to the ring for their submission challenge while the Dog is still there. This brings JYD head to head with his arch rival Hacksaw Butch Reed. The two have words but somehow that is all that happens as Watts rushes out and tries to keep the peace. Jim Ross assures us that we have not seen the last of Reed and JYD. Ernie Ladd says that was the last we should ever have seen of JYD. $10,000 DEVASTATION INC. SUBMISSION CHALLENGE In the ring are Hacksaw Reed, The Iron Sheik, Black Blood and Mr. Texas along with Skandar Akbar. Akbar is on the mic telling us all just how dangerous his men are and then nobody can last even 1 minute once they get you in their clutches. He goes on to say that he will give $10,000 to anybody who can last just 60 seconds in either Hacksaw Reed’s Bearhug, Mr. Texas’s Iron Claw, The Iron Sheik’s Camel Clutch or Black Blood’s Swinging Full Nelson. He goes on to be little the entire USWA locker room and doesn’t believe anyone has the guts to stand up to his men. All of a sudden the crowd pops as young “Gentlemen” Chris Adams runs to the ring. Adams is somewhat cautious as he gets in the ring and who could blame him? It was all 4 members of Devastation Inc. in the ring and he was by himself. Akbar hates Adams and belittles him from the second he enters the ring. Skandar Akbar: Chris Adams or should I call you Gentle Women Chris Adams. Just like all the other women I have every meet. You stick your nose in where it doesn’t belong. Now you are going to the feel the wrath of one of my men. Who do you wish to put you out of your misery? Adams looks around for a minute and then points to the Black Blood. Who just laughs as the other seem disappointed it was not their turn. Ref Pee Wee Anderson orders Akbar and the rest of Devastation Inc. out of the ring and then tells Adams to turn around. Black Blood comes up from behind and like a cat places Adams in the Swinging Full Nelson. Black Blood is so strong that he bends Adams in two like a pretzel. Adams lasts only a few seconds before he must submit as Ross was afraid he would be permanently injured. Black Blood tosses him aside like a rag doll as Akbar once again praises the talent of his stable. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- The segment starts with a quick video from the University of Tennessee Medical Center where we get an interview with the dejected Terry Gordy. He announces that the doctors have given him some bad news and that the odds of him getting his vision back are becoming less and less. From underneath the bandages eyes, we see a few tears roll down Gordy’s checks as he admits that he might have to face a life that doesn’t include wrestling. He finish by saying that he will never give up hope and that if he ever does see again, “Michael Hayes will wish he was never born.” After the video, a depressed Jim Ross hopes Bam Bam the best of luck in his career threatening fight. He then brings us back to happier times and our great main event. MAIN EVENT: DUSTY RHODES (USWA WORLD HEAVEYWEIGHT CHAMPION) VS HARLEY RACE (IF RACE WINS, THE TITLE BOUT BETWEEN RHODES AND DIBIASE BECOMES A THREE CORNER MATCH) In typical Rhodes vs Race fashion, this is wild from the get go. Both men have their ups and downs and this long bout becomes the first match in USWA history to have a commercial break in the middle of the match. In the end, Race somehow throws Rhodes into ref Bronco Lubich and he goes down. This does little to slow down the brawl in the ring. Rhodes catches Race with a knee to the gut and Race hits the canvass. Rhodes comes off the ropes and goes for one of his Bionic Elbows but Race rolls out in the nick of time. Rhodes is now down as Race stands up and goes for one of his diving head butts but now it is time for Rhodes to roll out at the last second. The two exit the ring and begin to throw huge right hands at each other. Race catches Rhodes with a Double Eye Gouge and then picks up a chair! WHAM! Race clocks Rhodes over the head with a chair and busts him wide open. Lubich is just starting to stir but since he did not see the chair, there was no DQ. Race rolls Rhodes into the ring and begins to climb to the top rope. The crowd is screaming trying to warn the American Dream! Race leaps off!!!! WHAM! This time Race connects with a Diving Headbutt from the top rope! He goes for the cover. Surprisingly, the ref has now recovered enough to make what seemed like the worlds slowest count! 1… 2… 3. Race beats Rhodes on National TV and now he will be part of the World Title Match with Dibiase in San Antonio later this month. As usual, Ross is disgusted by the actions of the heel while Ladd hopes that come the New Year, the USWA will have a new champion. One the people can be proud of. He doesn’t care if it is Race or Dibiase as long as it is not the American Nightmare, Dusty Rhodes. Jim Ross: So long from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don’t forget to join us this Tuesday Night in Stillwater at the Gallagher-Iba Arena. Next week will be back in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the Civic Center. As the screen fades to black with see promotions for the event in Stillwater.

1985 Fresh Faces
I think all women should be free lancers unless picked up on a roster. They should all be allowed to be added to a roster but if they are not currently on one, they should be allowed to be used as a freelancer until they are picked up. I guess what I mean is that for the women they would be both freelancers and free agents
-
1985 Fresh Faces
I would like to use them but leave them open to all as they were still kind of a special attraction. Maybe they could be available as either freelancers or as free agents. If someone wanted to add someone to their regular roster they could but if not they could stay on the freelancer list. Anyone on the freelancer list could always be open to anyone as a free agent

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
12/1/1984: WTBS 9:05-10:05 TULSA, OKLAHOMA “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Tulsa Oklahoma and the Tulsa Civic Center. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd.” The show starts with Ross and Ladd hyping up last week’s event from Nashville. Jim Ross takes us to a video of the big 20 man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal where the winner becomes the next #1 contender for the World Title. The video begins with just 3 men left. Hacksaw Butch Reed, Ted Dibiase and the 700 pound enforcer of the Rat Pack, Loch Ness. Loch Ness receives his orders and goes after Reed as Dibiase just waits in the corner. Reed and Loch Ness battle it out for a minute or two when they both seem to have the other one off balance in the corner. Reed is trying with all his might to lift Loch Ness over the rope but even his strength can’t get his out. Loch Ness is content to keep his feet firmly on the crowd while Reed sees his best chances are to climb the ropes to get some extra leverage. This is when Dibiase acts. With Reed’s attention focused on Loch Ness, Dibiase comes from behind and pushes Hacksaw over the top rope and out onto the floor. This is where is got interesting. Loch Ness just looks at Dibiase and shakes his hand and then steps over the top rope and drops the floor as the ring announcer lets us know that Ted Dibiase is the new #1 contender for Dusty Rhodes’ World Title. When the video is over, Ted Dibiase and the rest of the Rat Pack, Matt Borne, Dick Slater and Loch Ness are at the interview desk where Dibiase says his plan is now in motion. Step 1 is complete. Get a World Title Shot. Jim Ross asks Loch Ness why he didn’t even try to get the victory but Dibiase answers for him by simple saying “it pays to have good help!” Dibiase seems really confident here and who could blame him. With the Rat Pack around, he is doubly dangerous. Jim Ross informs the fans that the match between Rhodes and Dibiase is going to take place at the year-end Spectacular which is going to take place at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio, Texas. When the interview ends, Borne heads to the ring to defend his USWA World TV Title. MATCH: USWA WORLD TV TITLE MATCH MANIAC MATT BORNE VS SWEET BROWN SUGAR A nice opening match here as the fans always love Sweet Brown Sugar. His athleticism makes this a fun bout but in the end, Borne gets the victory with what appeared to be a blow with a foreign object and then a fist full of tights ono the pin attempt. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- When we come out of break, none other than Harley Race is at the interview desk. He can’t believe how stupid this organization is that they would decide the #1 contender by a battle royal when the best wrestler in the world is standing right in front of them. He announces that can beat anyone in this promotion and that it is a joke that he is not the #1 contender. Jim Ross explains to Race that it would be unfair to give him a title shot since he has not been in action in the USWA in over a month. Harley Race counters by asking the question, “Would I deserve a title shot if I beat that fat slob of a champion, Dusty Rhodes? Jim Ross: I guess it would but that is neither here nor there as that match has not even been signed. Harley Race: That is true but what has been signed is my match with Mike Graham and it is up next. Watch and learn what a real champion is capable of. MATCH HARLEY RACE VS MIKE GRAHAM While Mike Graham is a really good wrestler, he is out of his class in this one. Harley Race controls the match from the beginning to the end and seems to enjoy beating Graham. He finishes Graham with a diving head-butt followed up by a piledriver. Race continues beating Graham and grabs the house microphone and says he will continue to beat Graham until Dusty comes out here and accepts a match with Race. The crowd begins to chant for Rhodes but Jim Ross tries to calm the situation down as he is not even sure Rhodes is in the building. This does nothing to slow down the beating of Graham who is busted open now. The ref has already reversed his decision but that was the furthest care in the world to Harley Race. All of a sudden the crowd pops as the Dream hits the ring. Once again we see the classic Rhodes vs Race brawl taking place in the center of the ring. Neither man gives an inch and the only way that order is restored is by the locker room emptying to pull them apart. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd both hyp up this situation between Race and Rhodes but Ross has no idea what Bill Watts can do as Rhodes vs Dibiase has already been added to the spectacular event in San Antonio. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- When we come out of the break Jim Ross hypes of the tag team situation in the USWA and in particular the white hot feud brewing between the Perfect Alliance and the World Tag Team Champions, Kevin & Kerry VonErich. Ernie Ladd jumps in and is disgusted claiming that once again the VonErichs have used their father’s power to hold on to their titles. Jim Ross wants to know what he is talking about and Ladd simply says that Fritz is so overly protective of his sons that he will not even listen to the Louisiana State Supreme Court. Jim Ross says let’s get to the video tape from Nashville so we can clear this all up. The challengers, Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton along with Baby Doll are waiting in the ring when all of a sudden Madusa Miceli leads the VonErich brothers to the ring. Baby Doll goes absolutely crazy and hands the court order banning non-managers from ringside to the ref. Ref Pee Wee Anderson goes right to Madusa and points in the direction of the locker room. Everybody believes he has just barred him from ringside but Madusa simply shakes a menacing finger, NO. Just as Baby Doll had done on national TV last week, Madusa reaches into her ample top and pulls out a letter. She waves it right in Baby Doll’s face and she grabs it and to her shock, it is a USWA Wrestling license. This is where the video ends and Ladd and Ross have been joined by a steaming mad Perfect Alliance where Baby Doll is going nuts as she is sick and tired of Fritz protecting his boys. Jim Ross jumps in and says that Madusa simply kept you in your place during the match and the VonErich’s beat your team fair and square. This really got the Alliance all hot and bothered and you can tell that this feud is far from over and don’t forget that Baby Doll and Madusa will be facing each other for the Women’s Championship in San Antonio. Ross adds that the tag team title situation is a bit cluttered and that they just might have to wait their turn for another match. In fact, two of those teams are in the ring now! MATCH: TOMMY “WILDFIRE” RICH & HACKSAW DUGGAN VS THE OUTLAWS (RON BASS & BOBBY JAGGERS) A nice back and forth match but Wildfire and Hacksaw proved to be just too much for the Outlaws. Rich got angry with the dirty tactics of the Outlaws and started throwing some big haymakers and then he caught Bass with a Lou Thesz Press that staggered the Cowboy. Duggan finished him off with a big football tackle. At the interview desk, both Rich and Duggan accepted the praise from Ross on their recent success but in a “fired up” way reminded everyone that their goal was to get their hands on the Rat Pack. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- As we come out of break, we see “Dr. Death” and Manny Fernandez and the interview desk where they give us some bad news on Terry Gordy. It seems that the injury to his eyes may be permanent as he has shown no improvement over the last week and is totally blind. They go on to say that Cowboy Bill Watts has given them the permission to continue to defend the 6 Man Title but they must do it shorthanded. Jim Ross wishes them luck as tonight’s main event will be their first defense as a traditional tag team against Gary Hart’s might Japanese Assassins. MAIN EVENT: WORLD 6 MAN TITLE MATCH “DR. Death” STEVE WILLIAMS & MANNY FERNANDEZ VS THE JAPANESE ASSASSINS (Kabuki, Kendo Nagasaki, and Super Strong Ninja with Gary Hart) The match started out well for the Violence Committee as they used their power to their advantage but the Japanese Assassins along with Hart just began to play the number’s game. 3 on 2 plus Gary Hart made this a rather tricky situation. It just seemed that Dr. Death and Fernandez were fighting a losing battle. Wherever they turned, they just were outnumbered. Kabuki had Manny in trouble and began to spray his mystical green mist into the air and then went into a wild spin as Jim Ross feared that Manny was about to get nailed with a nasty thrust kick to the temple. Somehow Manny ducked under and made the tag. Williams came in like a house afire and simply took control. He clocked both Super Strong Ninja and Kendo Nagasaki before grabbing Hart who had jumped up on the apron. Hart was basically thrown into the ring and then caught with a huge football spear. Williams then signals to the crowd that this match is over and he fulfills his promise by connecting with an Oklahoma Stampede on Kabuki. As the ref begins his count 1… 2… The crowd moans as out of nowhere the Freebirds hit the ring. It is now 8 on 2 if you count Precious and the Miracle Violence Committee will need a miracle of their own to survive this one. As the beating continues Jim Ross explains that we are out of time.

What will be the rule going forward with women? Will they still be free lancers or will they have to be on your roster?

AWA results for November 1984
Love the ESPN show. Every match would keep you glued to the tv but the Lord Humongous vs Regal and Playboy Buddy Rose vs Eddie Gilbert were my favorites. Also any card with Hansen on it is a must see. Keep up the good work. So many great choices to challenge Patera that I am looking forward to see what happens next at the top of the AWA

WWF On Tour November 1984
Love the Bockwinle/Hogan angle. I know how great you are at wheeling and dealing and with Hogan's trip to Japan looming, my brain is going in all type of directions trying to figure this one out. CAGE MATCH Randy Savage & Jimmy Snuka defeated Roddy Piper & Gino Hernandez: This is must see TV. Keep up the great work.... you truly have a feel for this. I just seem to sit in front of my computer and type whatever comes to mind. I might be OK with a "Bring Back the Stars" like show once a month but you really understand how to run a promotion.

Lutte Internationale November 1984
I agree. NWA is back in charge and might just end up being the powerhouse of wrestling for North America. I am interested to see which of your tag teams rise up to challenge for the "World" Championship. You have so many great possibilities!

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
11/25/1984: WTBS 9:05-10:05 KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Knoxville, Tennessee and the Knoxville Civic Center. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd.” The show starts with Ross and Ladd talking about the disgusting action we saw yesterday on WTBS when Michael Hayes blinded Terry Gordy with some sort of cream. Jim Ross shows the video from yesterday’s show for anyone who missed it and when it was over, Ross said that earlier today, WTBS and the USWA sent Cowboy Bill Watts and camera man over to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and that we are going to hear from both the doctor who treated Terry and from Terry Gordy himself. First we see a video of Watts entering the hospital and then we hear from Dr. Jonathan Myers who informs us that Terry Gordy’s eyes were severely burned by the substance from Michael Hayes but that it is too early to tell if they will be any permanent damage. He went on to say that it is possible that Terry Gordy may be legally blind for the rest of his life. The video then brings us to the hospital room of Terry Gordy where we see his eyes are heavily bandaged. Cowboy Bill Watts asks Bam Bam how he is doing. Terry Gordy: To be honest with you, I am down. Not from the pain I am in. Not from the fact that I may never see again but by the fact that someone I used to call my brother has gone this far and has tried to take my career away from me. MICHAEL HAYES! All we been through; all the good times and bad times. I never thought it would come to this. We have won World Titles together! We have beaten the hell out of each other. NEVER, and I mean Never, would I have tried to end your career. Michael Hayes, I promise you one thing! If I ever get back to the ring, I will get even. I will beat you like the dirty dog you are. I will beat you so bad, your Mama won’t know who you are. Gordy begins to get all worked up and nurses rush in and order everybody to leave. When the video ends, we see both Ross and Ladd shaking their heads. Even Ernie Ladd believes that Hayes has gone too far this time. Ross knows it is early but wonders if the Miracle Violence Committee will even be able to defend their World 6 Man Titles with Gordy out of action. Ladd reminds everyone that they have 30 days to defend their title or they must forfeit their championship. All of a sudden, the crowd has a murmur to it as Dr. Death and Manny Fernandez come out. Both Williams and Fernandez seem really focused and their attention is on getting even with Hayes and the rest of the Freebirds. They guarantee everyone that they will not let their brother down. They go on to say that they don’t care if they have to defend their 6 man titles with only two people, they will do it. They also seem a little scarred when Ross asks if they think Gordy will return to action. The both admit that they just don’t honestly know. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TOMMY RICH & HACKSAW DUGGAN VS TERRY TAYLOR & KILLER TIM BROOKS A nice tag match that gives Wildfire and Taylor a few chances to continue their rivalry. In the end, Wildfire catches Brooks with a Lou Thesz Press and then tags in Duggan who connects with a football tackle for the victory. During their interview with Ross and Ladd, a quick video is shown of how Wildfire saved Duggan from a massive splash by the nearly 700 pound Loch Ness. Duggan hypes up the friendship the two have as Wildfire is now fully onboard with Duggan in the feud with the Rat Pack. Rich doesn’t care if it’s Dibiase, Slater, Murdoch, Maniac Matt Borne or even that fat slob Loch Ness. Duggan hypes how their match Tuesday night in Nashville with Borne and Loch Ness. Duggan also knows that until he can cut the head off the Rat Pack, namely Ted Dibiase, they are never going to completely stop the Rat Pack. MATCH: DAN SPIVEY VS JOHNNY MANTELL A nice 5 minute go round for the youngster where we see the continued progress of the 6’7 Spivey/ The end this times comes by submission with a Bear Hug. Ross is amazed a just how many ways this young giant can beat a man. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- $10,000 DEVASTATION INC. All of a sudden the crowd pops as young Sam Houston runs to the ring. Houston is somewhat cautious as he gets in the ring and who could blame him? It was all 4 members of Devastation Inc. in the ring and he was by himself. Akbar gives Houston a little credit for bravery for coming down to the ring. Skandar Akbar: Sam Houston! So young, so brave and just like every other Texan I have ever met in my life. SO STUPID! Which of my monsters to you wish to challenge. Houston looks around for a minute and then points to the Iron Sheik. The Iron Sheik just laughs as the other muscular monsters seem disappointed it was not their turn. Ref Pee Wee Anderson rushed down to ringside to try and make this circus look more official. He orders Akbar and the rest of Devastation Inc. out of the ring and then tells Houston to lie down on his stomach so the Sheik can place him in the Camel Clutch. Houston shakes around a bit to try and get the momentum going and then goes to the mat. Quickly the Sheik is on him and sits on his back and locks his arms around his chin and begins to arch backwards. Immediately you see Houston’s face cringe with pain. Sheik amps it up a little more and almost instantly Houston is tapping. It lasted less than 15 seconds but the Sheik keeps the hold on for a while longer just for effect. Eventually he slams Sam Houston down face first and we hear his disgusting, “Tehran, Iran” chant which really has the Knoxville crowd angry. Ernie Ladd is heard saying that maybe next time people will listen to Akbar and stay in the locker room. For once Jim Ross seems to agree with him as this Devastation Inc. is full of some bad dudes! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT: TED DIBIASE VS “GENTLEMEN” CHRIS ADAMS In a wild main event, we see some good back and forth from this two for about 7 minutes. It here that the momentum changes as Dibiase caught Adams with a nasty elbow in the corner. Adams let his guard down for just a second expecting a clean break but this is when Dibiase surprised him. Jim Ross goes on to say that is the reason he is the leader of the Rat Pack and what more would expect from Dibiase but an illegal maneuver while Ernie Ladd defended the move by saying elbows are legal in wrestling. Dibiase follows the elbow up with a big bodyslam and then throws Adams through the ropes where he follows him to the floor. It is here we see a nastier Dibiase then we have seen in recent weeks. He throws Adams into anything he could find. The steel barricade, the ring post and even the timer’s bell were used as weapons. Adams is busted open but Dibiase has a wry smile on his face. He throws Adams back in and connects with a Sling Shot Suplex for the victory. Ross expresses concern for the rest of the USWA as Dibiase seems even more diabolical now than ever before. Dibiase leaves a manhandled Adams in the ring and goes to the interview table where he calls out Dusty Rhodes, the VonErichs and JYD. He is demanding title shots from all three as he believes he is unstoppable and is just the wrestler to control the entire USWA Championship situation. Ernie Ladd seems to agree and Ross says that if tonight is any evidence then he just might be right. Ross reminds us that Chris Adams is one of the leading figures in this industry and he was just destroyed. Jim Ross: The rest of the USWA needs to beware of Dibiase. Sorry but we are out of time. So long from Knoxville, Tennessee. Don’t forget to join us this Tuesday Night in the Nashville. Next week will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Tulsa Civic Center. As the screen fades to black with see promotions for the event in Nashville Matches Include: USWA WORLD HEAVYEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes vs Terry Funk USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The VonErichs vs Bobby Eaton & Arn Anderson Tommy Rich & Hacksaw Duggan vs Maniac Matt Borne and Loch Ness Ted Dibiase vs Iceman Parsons $10,000 Devastation Inc. Submission Challenge.

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
11/24/1984: WTBS 9:05-10:05 KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Knoxville, Tennessee and the Knoxville Civic Center. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd.” The show starts with Ross and Ladd hyping up last week’s Thanksgiving Thunder from the New Orleans Superdome. A video of the last few minutes of the Bull Rope Match for the USWA World Title between Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk from the Superdome is shown. We see Dusty really rip apart Funk with the cow bell and eventually gaining the victory by count-out. After the video, Dusty Rhodes is at the interview desk and Dusty is all fired up about his victory over Funk. Dusty Rhodes: I told you Jim Ross! I told you Ernie Ladd. Terry Funk was not taking this USWA Title form the Dream. This title represents all the great people in this country and there was no way I was going to let some low life like Terry Funk be the champion of all of you. America is a beautiful country baby and each time I look in the mirror, I seem to be getting better looking. I mean just look at this belly I got going! Just look at this wrinkled up forehead. Oh, I am real excited today baby. Not only did I beat Funk. I heard he has run away from the USWA. He has flown the coup. I beat him so bad, I heard he run all the way to Asia! That’s right! The big bad Terry Funk get beat so badly by little old me, he left the continent. Jim Ross: Dream that is true but there are still plenty of challenges for you right here in the USWA. Dusty Rhodes: Now that’s for sure but I plan on holding this belt for a long time. So it doesn’t matter to me if it’s Mr. Ted Dibiase. If it’s Hacksaw Butch Reed. If it’s Dirty Dick Slater or anyone else coming for my belt. You know that I am going to give it 110%. I will scratch. I will claw. The Dream owes it to you fans and I will be your champion. Jim Ross: Well you next opponent will be decided Tuesday Night in Nashville TN with a 20 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal where the winner will be the new #1 contender. Ross now takes us to the ring for our first match. MATCH: USWA WORLD TV TITLE MATCH MANIAC MATT BORNE VS PVT. DON KERNODLE We see the new champion being led to the ring by the enforcer of the Rat Pack, Loch Ness. As for the match it is a nice opening bout that goes about 7 minutes. Kernodle was performing well until he got thrown through the middle ropes. As ref Pee Wee Anderson admonished Borne, Loch Ness crushed Kernodle by slamming him into the ring post. Loch Ness then tossed Kernodle back into the ring where Borne simply covered him. Pee Wee Anderson looked around as if he knew some funny business had taken place but he couldn’t figure out what. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH ICEMAN PARSONS VS FIDEL SIERRA Always a lot of energy in the building when either one of these two hit the ring. The Cuban Assassin brings out the worst in the crowd by waving his Cuban Flag but Iceman really pumps them up with a little “We Are Family.” As for the match, Sierra tries to use his power advantage but this is right up Iceman’s ally as he loves to mix it up. In the end, Iceman catches the Cuban Assassin with a Butt Bump for the victory and the crowd loved every moment of it. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: JAPANESE ASSASSINS (The Great Kabuki & Kendo Nagasaki with Gary Hart) VS AL MADRIL & BRIAN ADIAS To the fans dismay, this was all the Japanese Assassins. The end comes when Kabuki sprayed the green mist into the air and then went into a wild spinning motion that ended with a nasty thrust kick to the temple of Madril. After the match, Hart was complaining that his men get no respect and are deserving of a World Title Match. MATCH: THE PERFECT ALLIANCE (ARN ANDERSON & BOBBY EATON with BABY DOLL) VS SWEET BRWON SUGAR AND SAM HOUSTON It seemed like the Perfect Alliance took their frustration at not winning the Tag Titles at Thanksgiving Thunder out on their opponents. It was all Arn and Eaton and the end came after Arn hit a Spinebuster on Sam Houston and then tagged in bobby Eaton who climbed to the top rope and flew off connecting with an Alabama Jam! After the match the Perfect Alliance headed to the interview desk where Baby Doll pulled a letter out of the top of her shirt which really seemed to get the crowd going. Jim Ross reminded here that this was a family program and to watch herself. Baby Doll answered that there was nothing family about this letter as the courts are now involved with the tag team situation. Jim Ross: What tag team situation? Your team lost fair and square to the VonErichs last week at Thanksgiving Thunder. By now Cowboy Bill Watts has rushed out to the interview area. When he heard the word “courts” he came running out to protect his investment. Baby Doll: This letter is from the State Supreme Court on Louisiana which is where Thanksgiving Thunder took place. They are placing a work stoppage on the tag team title until my team is granted a fair rematch. Ernie Ladd: That makes “perfect” sense to me. Cowboy Bill Watts: Two questions. How did you get this situation to the highest court in the state in just 4 days and what was unfair about your last rematch. Baby Doll: First of all Watts, when you look as “perfect” as me, things get done in a hurry and most important, during our last match with the VonErichs, your incompetent referee allowed an unlicensed manager to stay at ringside and aid the VonErichs…..One Madusa Miceli! Jim Ross: Oh give me a break, Madusa never got involved in the match. You are just upset that she whooped your but on national TV. Baby Doll: I was out there to manage and when she attacked me it took my focus away from the match. Managers are not supposed to be wrestling and by me having to fight her, I was unable to perform my job. READ THE PAPER! We get the next title shot and only licensed managers can be at ringside. We will take this rematch Tuesday night in Nashville! Cowboy Bill Watts: It appears my hands are tied and we will see this match at the Tennessee Fair Grounds on Tuesday in Nashville. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT: TERRY GORDY VS MICHAEL HAYES The war between the Freebirds and the Miracle Violence Committee continues. In this match, the beginning is all Gordy as he is just too much for Hayes to handle. After a beating that included a few huge bodyslams, Hayes slips out of the ring for a breather. It is here that Precious rushes down to ringside. She reaches into her purse and pulls out some sort of rag and pretends to whip Hayes’ face while Hayes reaches into the purse and we see that his fingers are covered into some sort of cream. As Hayes heads back to the ring, he is met by Gordy. Hayes ducks down and catches Gordy with a shoulder block which allows him time to get in the ring. Once in the ring, He grabs Gordy be the hair and rakes the cream across both eyes. Immediately Gordy is flailing and rolling all around the ring and grabbing at his eyes. Gordy ends up in the corner where Hayes pulls him up by the head and connects with a massive Bulldog for the victory. Gordy is still in obvious trouble as Dr. Death and Manny Fernandez rush down to his aid. Michael Hayes beats a hasty retreat and seems very pleased with himself. Dr. Death is screaming for a doctor and is trying to rinse his eyes with water. Jim Ross expresses how dangerous this situation appears to be. Jim Ross: Sorry we are out of time. Don’t forget to join us tomorrow morning for more USWA action. So long from Knoxville, Tennessee. As the screen fades to black with see promotions for Tuesday’s event in Nashville.

Dirt Sheets
USWA NEWS: It appears that there is trouble in paradise between Cowboy Bill Watts and Fritz VonErich. While the USWA promotion has seen great success, the two men are having trouble working together. A few of the sticking points are: 1. The VonErichs: Fritz is hell bent on his sons being the center of the promotion while Watts sees a lot of potential in such major players as Butch Reed, Ted Dibiase and Tommy Rich to name a few that he feels the VonErichs should be more of team players and not have everything centered around them. 2. The future of tag team wrestling: Watts loves the traditional tag team match and steady tag teams while Fritz says the future is in larger tag team matches like 6 man or 8 man matches. Again, Watts argued that this was just to better his own sons. 3. Expansion: While there seems to be a push to more national promotions going on, such as the WWF and the AWA, Fritz believes that a Dallas based promotion would be the most financial successful and that there is no reason to leave Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana. Watts believes that a market without pro wrestling is a great market for the USWA. He has been the driving force into going to Denver, St. Louis and Nebraska. In fact, he has contacted Eddie Graham and Robert Fuller about getting something more steady going throughout the Gulf Coast States. 4. Wrestler Contracts: Fritz believes less is more and that anybody along with his sons can make a good promotion as long as the angles are interesting. Watts believes that star power and physical power are huge in the wrestling industry. With expiring contracts for people like Hacksaw Duggan, Tommy Rich, Billy Jack and JYD, this roster could see some major overhaul if VonErich gets his way. 5. The USWA Heavyweight Title: With these two at odds with each other and they both most agree on a title change, it seems unlikely Rhodes will drop the belt anytime soon. The best thing for the USWA would be to add more members to the "Board of Directors" Whatever happens here, one thing is for sure. Stay Tuned! Anything could happen. Have we seen the end of the USWA as we know it. Could we be headed back to Watts and VonErich running their own separate promotions like we say earlier in 1984 with World Class and Mid-South? Maybe we are on the verge of the "death" of the USWA? Do they have the money and resources to battle Vince McMahon if they go it alone? Do they have the roster talent to split in to two? Could they survive with 3 smaller promotions if the bring back Florida and Eddie Graham? We will just have to wait and see!

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
11/20/1984: WTBS 7:05-10:05 FROM THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME NEW ORLEANS. LOUISIANA “Hello again everybody. Welcome to the Thanksgiving Special from The Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. We are here live on WTBS. I am Jim Ross along with Ernie Ladd. Both Ross and Ladd hype up tonight’s event and give some time to the Bull Rope Match for the World Title between Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk. Ross believes Rhodes will come out on top but Ladd disagrees as there in tougher wrestler in the world then Terry Funk. Ross and Ladd also have a bit of a back and forth on the North American Title Match which is a three way match between JYD, Ted Dibiase and Hacksaw Reed. This time, Ross and Ladd seem to be on the same page as the deck is obviously stacked against the Dog. Ross takes us to the ring for our first bout which could be a Main Event anywhere in the country. HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN VS DIRTY DICK SLATER with Loch Ness This is an intense match from the beginning as Duggan has gone on the war path of late and is hell bent on ridding the USWA of the entire Rat Pack. Duggan excites the fans by waving his trusty 2 x 4 around as he enters the ring but is attacked before the bell as he turned and played to the fans. Slater is one tough hombre and he really knows how to throw the hands. Somehow, Duggan regained the momentum and the end came after Duggan followed up a powerslam with a nasty football tackle. As the ref counted three, we see the nearly 700 pound Loch Ness climb up onto the apron and enter the ring. Duggan is not about to back down and quickly gets his weapon. Duggan cracks Loch Ness across the back of the head but instead of Loch Ness going down, the 2 x 4 splinters into tiny pieces. Loch Ness just laughs at Duggan who looks like he just saw a ghost. Loch Ness smashes Duggan into the corner and by now Slater is up. Slater holds Duggan’s legs down as Loch Ness begins to climb to the second rope. Jim Ross announces that if he connects with this Big Splash it could mark the end of Duggan’s career. Before Loch Ness gets his balances, the crowd explodes as Wildfire Rich rushed down the aisle and clobbers Slater. Rich now hopes up on the middle rope and hits Loch Ness with about 10 huge haymakers. As Rich hops down, we see Loch Ness teetering on the ropes. Finally after a few uneasy moments, Loch Ness loses his balances and crashes head first to the mat. Rich and Duggan begin putting the boots to the Rat Pack and are soon in complete control of the ring. Rich and Duggan embrace in the ring as Ross hypes up the fact that these two have become really close friends of late and that they are becoming a force to reckon with in the tag team division. MATCH TIME: 14:21. WINNERS: Hacksaw Jim Duggan _________________________________________________________________________ MR. TEXAS with SKANDAR AKBAR VS MIKE VONERICH Mike Von Erich was able to get his revenge here. While Akbar did his best to distract Mike VonErich, there was no stopping him here. Ladd reminds us that Mr. Texas is the one who put Mike out of action for a month with a nasty head injury and that Mike better be careful or it would happen again. In the end, Mike nailed Akbar who was up on the apron and then turned his attention on Lance. He caught Lance with the Iron Claw and that was all she wrote. MATCH TIME: 7:02 WINNER: The VonErichs __________________________________________________________________________ WOMEN”S TAG TEAM MATCH THE WINNERS WILL FACE EACH OTHER FOR THE WORLD TITLE WENDY RICHTER & BABY DOLL VS MADUSA MICELI & THE FABULOUS MOOLAH This is a wild match where neither teams is happy with their partner. The team of Baby Doll and Madusa take control. Madusa seems to be just one step ahead of both Richter and Moolah and Baby Doll just seems to be too powerful. In the end, we see Madusa with a slingshot suplex on Moolah which seems to be enough for the victory until the unthinkable happens. Baby Doll comes in and makes the save. Ernie Ladd seems confused but Jim Ross believes that Baby Doll is just plan insane and her jealousy has won out and she can’t bear to see Madusa gain the victory for her team. Madusa and Baby Doll have words and begin to shove each other. Moolah is able to make the tag and Richter rushes in and rolls up Madusa for the 1… 2… WHAM! Baby Doll hits Richter with a massive elbow drop. Baby Doll demands to be legally tagged in and Madusa obliges. As she comes in the ring, Richter is just getting up and is hit with the biggest clothesline in Women’s wrestling. It looked like her head was going to separate from her body. Baby Doll makes the cover and Madusa, doing the team thing, drop kicks Moolah and prevents her from making the save. 1… 2… 3. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd hype up the fact the Baby Doll and Madusa gained the victory and now they will face each other for the Women’s title. Baby Doll and Madusa just stare each other down and don’t celebrate one iota. MATCH TIME: 10:41 WINNER: Baby Doll and Madusa Miceli __________________________________________________________________________ USWA WORLD TV TITLE MATCH ICEMAN KING PARSONS VS “MANIAC” MATT BORNE With Borne already in the ring, the champion comes out and does his best to get the crowd going with a little “We are family,” but it is obvious that he is not himself. He comes out with his mid-section wrapped and Ross reminds us of the crushing blow he took from the Rat Pack’s enforcer Loch Ness. Ladd says that Iceman has no shot here and he just give it up. Iceman gave it his best shot but was only able to keep the momentum for short periods of time. He did have one shot at victory as he went for the Butt Bump but Borne hooked the ropes. In the end, Borne caught Iceman with a DDT. Ross is disgusted that the Rat Pack’s dirty tactics last week have led to a championship for the group while Ladd reminds Ross that this is wrestling and that Ross needs to put on his big boy pants and stop crying because Borne beat Parsons here in the Superdome fair and square. MATCH TIME: 7:41. WINNER: Maniac Matt Borne (NEW USWA WORLD TV CHAMPION) __________________________________________________________________________ USWA WORLD 6 MAN TITLE MATCH THE VIOLENCE COMMITTEE (Fernandez. Gordy & Dr. Death) VS THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS with Precious A wild one from beginning. This was just all out brawl and neither team waited for the bell as all 6 men brawled all over the arena floor. After about 10 minutes of trying to get order restored, referee Pee Wee Anderson called this match a No Contest. The Freebirds and the Violence Committee could care less. This feud has been white hot and it is their pure hatred for one another that proved to be even more important than the World 6 Man Title. Finally, when order was restored, the cameras focused on a bloody Terry Gordy and bloody Michael Hayes. It is obvious that this feud has reached a boiling point. Jim Ross blames Michael Hayes for turning on Bam Bam while Ernie Ladd says that that is ridiculous as it was Gordy who put himself first and the team second. It doesn’t matter who is right, this one is far from over. MATCH TIME: 0:00. WINNER: NO CONTEST __________________________________________________________________________ THE FABULOUS ONE VS DEVASTATION INC. (The Iron Sheik & Black Blood) with Skandar Akbar This is a tale of two different teams. The fan favorite Fab Ones get the crowd going with ZZ Topps and “Sharpe Dressed Man” while Devastation Inc. raises every inch of ire the fans could muster. The hooded Black Blood is just scary. So evil and powerful looking that the fans could not imagine getting in the ring with him while The Sheik and the Iranian flag really bring out the patriotism in all at the Superdome. The Fab Ones take a pretty good beating here and appear to be on the verge of going down to defeat. Steve Keirn is locked in the Camel Clutch by the Iron Sheik when all of a sudden, Stan Lane rushed into the ring and before the ref could get him back to his corner, he connected with a baseball sliding drop kick to the face of the Sheik. This brought Black Blood into the ring and Akbar up onto the apron. As fast as Lane attacked the Sheik, he goes after Black Blood with another flying dropkick. Black Blood stumbles backwards and crashes head to head with Akbar. Both men roll to the floor below. With Sheik dazed, Lane drags Keirn to his corner so he can legally tag himself in. Lane hops up to the top rope and as Sheik staggers to his feet, with see a third dropkick, this one from the top rope. Lane covers Sheik and to the delight of Ross and the crowd, the Fab Ones gains the victory. Ladd is screaming about the incompetence of the USWA officials and doesn’t understand how the Fab Ones can be called the victors when Lane should not have even been in the ring. MATCH TIME: 18:27. WINNERS: THE FAB ONES __________________________________________________________________________ USWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH THREE WAY MATCH JYD VS HACKSAW REED with Skandar Akbar VS TED DIBIASE The crowd really pops as Another One Bites the Dust leads the Dog to the ring. He is pumped up and swinging his big dog chain and howling at the moon. His opponents are already in the ring and are huddle together planning strategy. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd both hype up the fact that this could only mean trouble for the Dog. Ross reviews the rules for this match and it is quite simple. ALL 3 MEN ARE IN THE RING AT ONCE. For JYD to win, he must pin or submit either Dibiase or Reed and for Dibiase or Reed to win the must pin or submit JYD. As the bell sounds, it is obvious that Reed and Dibiase planned to attack JYD 2-1. JYD is great but not even he can take on Dibiase and Reed alone. JYD takes a crazy amount of punishment. After about 5 minutes of punching and kicking the Dog, Dibiase points to the sky and Reed shakes his head yes. Reed hoists JYD up for a Gorilla Press Spike Slam with Dibiase helping to throw the Dog to the canvass. Reed then goes for the cover. 1… 2… WHAM Ted Dibiase nails Reed with a huge elbow and Reed rolls over holding his head. Dibiase now signals for his finisher…. The Figure 4 and he quickly picks up JYD’s leg and puts him in the submission hold. WHAM!! Reed drops the elbow onto Dibiase. Jim Ross: “Hey! I think JYD’s chances have just picked up. Both Reed and Dibiase might have beaten JYD to hell but they can’t let the other pin the Dog. As the Dog is recovering from his beating, Dibiase and Reed spend the next 5 minutes or so trying to wear the other down. Finally, Dibiase can’t take anymore and gouges the eyes of Reed. From here, he connects soundly with a low blow. Reed doubles over and starts to stagger backwards and falls right through the middle ropes and crashes to the floor. Dibiase now seems to be adjusting that “loaded” black glove. Dibiase thinking he is about to become North American Champion, turns his attention back to the Dog. Dibiase is shocked when he sees Dog up and ready for him. A quick howl to the moon as JYD blocks a huge, “loaded” right by Dibiase and then grabs him by the head and connects with 3 massive JYD head-butts. From there, it was an Irish Whip into a huge THUMP (Powerslam) JYD goes for the pin and Reed is nowhere to be seen. 1… 2… 3. Ross hypes up the fact that JYD has beaten both Reed and Dibiase and retains the belt. Ladd is once again disgusted. MATCH TIME: 26:25. WINNER: JUNK YARD DOG __________________________________________________________________________ USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The VonErichs VS The Perfect Alliance with Baby Doll The Perfect Alliance enter first and strut their way to the ring. Baby Doll is making the sign of the championship belt as she high fives her team. Ross is unsure if she is talking about the Perfect Alliance tonight or that the she is proclaiming herself to be the first women’s champion. As the Von Erichs start to come to the ring, we notice that Madusa is leading them down the aisle. Jim Ross is excited that finally there will be someone at ringside to stop Baby Doll from getting involved. Ladd explodes that she has no right to be out here. He continues that she is not a licensed manager but it doesn’t seem that the ref is going to do anything about it! As for the match, this Superdome crowd could not have asked for more. It is a great back and forth for about 15 minutes and then all of a sudden Baby Doll got involved by throwing a massive elbow to the face of Kevin VonErich after he was tossed out of the ring by Arn Anderson. This is all that Madusa needed to see as now the brawl was own between Madusa and Baby Doll. Since it didn’t directly interfere with the match, the ref paid no attention to it and focused on the in ring action. Kevin caught Arn with a shoulder block as he re-entered the ring. This allowed him to get to his brother and make the tag. Kerry came in like a house afire and connected with Tornado Punches to both Arn and Eaton. With Eaton down, Kerry quickly scoops up Arn for a massive suplex and then goes to tag his brother. Kevin again climbs the ropes and leaps! WHAM!! Von Erich Death Leap right on top of Anderson. The crowd counts along with ref Pee Wee Anderson. 1… 2… 3. As Ross hypes up the Von Erich victory we see Madusa has the Iron Claw on Baby Doll ad she is screaming in pain. Ross explains that this relationship between the VonErchs and Madusa seems to be a two way street. Madusa helped them take care of the Perfect Alliance and the VonErichs have taught Madusa the Iron Claw to take care of Baby Doll. MATCH TIME: 25:27. WINNERS: THE VON ERICHS __________________________________________________________________________ USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH BULLROPE MATCH “THE AMERICAN DREAM” DUSTY RHODES VS TERRY FUNK The main event is just brutal. Both men are busted open and are just beating the hell out of each other. We see Dusty being whipped into the corner but Funk rushed in a little too quickly and was caught with a nasty elbow. Funk goes down. For the next few minutes, Rhodes just grinds the open end of the cow bell into the forehead of Funk. Funk appears to be wearing a crimson mask as Jim Ross can’t belief how brutal this match is. Rhodes continues to beat Funk with the cow bell and then begins to wrap the rope around the neck of Funk. Funk is in trouble and appears to be almost out on his feet. Rhodes whips Funk into the ropes and launches himself at Funk as Funk comes off the ropes. GONG! The sound of the cow bell violently hitting Funks head echoes throughout the building. Funk is knocked backwards and goes straight through the middle ropes. The camera catches Funk falling so hard through the ropes that he actually hits his head off the steel barricade surrounding the ring. Jim Ross guarantees us that there is no way Funk will be able to beat the count back in and he was right. As ref Pee Wee Anderson makes the 10 count, we see Rhodes ecstatically jumping around the ring. Jim Ross announces that Rhodes is jubilantly jumping around the ring and it appears that he has met and conquered his biggest test since becoming World Champion. What a night for Dusty Rhodes but Ernie Ladd is sure Funk will be back and that this is just a minor setback. MATCH TIME: 32:27. WINNERS: Dusty Rhodes Jim Ross hypes up that Dusty is still the USWA World Heavyweight Champion. So long from New Orleans, Louisiana.
