1989 Rookie List
When we decided this rule, Rain did some research and found a list of people we had missed and we decided to add them to this draft. If you would like him, I am fine with that. Just claim him as a roster transaction.

1989 Rookie List
Onita did work in North America in 1980, 1981, and 1982. He is someone we missed as a foreign wrestler who has spent previous time in North America which makes him eligible to return based on our rules. Once someone has spent time here, we deemed it logically that they may return as some point with the right offer. He is still okay to be drafted. I am fine revisiting this rule if others wish to.

I used to hate those great matches that just got started but TV time ran out. Great booking to keep us hooked in. Really looking forward to St. Paul. Asylum is a great, entertaining heel stable. Wonder if Kerry, Colon, etc will rise to the top? I am really interested in Adias vs Iceman. We have all had Iceman and he always seemed on the verge of big time. Wonder of this will be the time!

Great WWF feel. I loved the way you explained that Terry Taylor was a little more heel this week. I think he was underrated as he could do a bit of everything. What a tag team division. So many great opponents for Demolition. Wonder if any will rise to the top or will the just beat each other up. Whenever and wherever ... Looking forward to Hogan and Savage.

I appreciate all your hard work. Since I know so little of this style and what was going on around the world, I find myself reading this and rooting like it was the Olympics. I am all in on the Americans!! Ken Shamrock is my new favorite UWF wrestler after the big submission win!

The fans in Winnipeg got a real treat. For me, the best part of the night was Orndorff coming out. To me, he is underrated as he could be a great babyface or heel, was great on the mic and was pretty good in the ring. He and Dibiase were similar in my book. I had a good feeling Nikita was going to come out in good shape against Boris but not so sure what will happen with Atlas. This is going to be a wild ride. Understatement of the night was when you said Sawyer won the battle but the war is not over. What you have done with Colon... he is never to be counted out. Wow... I thought you were using this match to build up Kerry but you went straight for a WAR!!! This is also going to be great. I think your match between Jumbo and Fujinami is exactly why I loved 80's wrestling and hate todays stuff. When these two went through the table even the ref was shocked as there was no way they were getting back in the ring. Today, they would have gotten up like they had a splinter before someone hit 3 piledrivers and it still might not be over. Great job and the next pay-per view is looking awesome.

I am unsure of this. Looking back, I see that LowBlow placed both Johnny Ace and Mark Laurenitius on his unprotected list for the WCCW draft. Neither were drafted. I do not see a mention of them in the rosters page so I am unsure if and when they left WWF to begin with. Any help here would be appreciated.

Very interesting. We see a lot of the same friends and foes from Arkansas but now we got 2 shows coming to you from Memphis. I wonder what JJ really thinks about all of this. Dave Brown and Eddie Marlin really help to legitimize this.

World Championship Wrestling (1988- )
EPISODE #5 SEPTEMBER 9, 1988 The show starts with a replay from last week when a man wearing a partial black mask, a cowboy hat, chaps and a bull rope hits the ring and attacked Ron Simmons during his match with Black Bart. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes rushed to the aid of Ron Simmons and chased Black Bart and the assailant away. When Dusty went over to David Crockett who informed Dusty that the attacker was a relative of Terry Funk, Rhodes went nuts! Now we get the normal intro to World Championship wrestling! Tony Schiavone: Hi everybody. Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling. Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and David Crockett ringside here with World Championship Wrestling, the major league of professional wrestling. As you just saw from last week, a Funk is in WCW and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes is none too happy about. Jim Ross: That’s right Tony and we will be hearing from both Dusty Rhodes and Jimmy Jack Funk later in the show. Arn Anderson, Ric Flair and Women will be here to make it official this evening as they introduce Dan Spivey as the newest Horsemen. The Rock n Roll Express will be in action as will Abdullah the Butcher, The Young Guns (Sam Houston & Kendall Windham), Hacksaw Butch Reed, Dick Murdoch and in our main event it will be “The Fab One” Steve Keirn squares off against Mando Guerrero. David Crockett: That is going to be a great night right here on the Superstation. We will also have an update on Fall Brawl, Clash of Champions coming up on October 17 in the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg. I have also been informed that Sting and Lex Luger are in the arena tonight. Can’t wait to here what they have to say about the new Horsemen. MATCH #1 The Rock n Roll Express defeat Allen Martin & Jerry Steiborn after a Double Drop Kick on Martin After the match, the Rock n Roll Express give a quick promo with David Crockett where they hope to be one of the teams wrestling at Fall Brawl to fill the vacated U.S. Tag Team Titles! COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our next match, Jimmy Jack Funk and Black Bart are with David Crockett where Crockett focuses on why Jimmy Jack interfered in Black Bart’s match last week against Ron Simmons and what he thinks about how Dusty Rhodes is very angry that a Funk is here in WCW. Jimmy Jack Funk: (With the bull rope around his own neck and basically screaming the entire time) Dusty Rhodes, I’ve come to WCW to break some bones and snap some necks. I thought I’d start with that overrated Ron Simmons but what better to a Funk than to destroy that egg-suckin dog, Dusty Rhodes. You think Dusty has put a bull rope around his own neck just to feel the pain. I don’t think so. He hasn’t got what it takes. He isn’t half as tough as the Funks and if he dares to step in the ring with me or Black Bart, it will be the end of um. Black Bart: Daggummit… I told you all Ron Simmons was overrated. You all saw him lying there in the center of the ring last week during our match… David Crockett: That might be because it was 2 against 1. Black Bart: Shut up Crockett or else you might get the noose as well. Simmons… Rhodes… if you two got the guts, we would like nothing else…. (spits tobacco all over the floor) than to beat you two good for nothing lowlifes on national TV at Fall Brawl! What do ya two say? David Crockett: I’d say we’ve heard enough of this. Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #2 Abdullah the Butcher with Gary Hart destroys James Bradley with the end coming after the 400-pound elbow drop. After the bout, Abbie decided to put some holes in Bradley with the fork. It took Gary Hart to throw a black towel over Abbie’s head to calm him down and give a bloody Bradley a chance to roll to safety. After the bout, Gary Hart and Abdullah are with David Crockett discussing Hart’s pursuit of the 2-million-dollar bounty Sheik Adnan Al Kassie is willing to pay Hart to end the careers of Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase. Throughout the interview, Abdullah is like an uncontrollable child. He is eating the microphone, petting Gary Hart’s head and making strange noises. Hart tried to calm him down on numerous occasions but to no avail. Gary Hart: Last week you saw my beasts… Abdooola the Butcha and Tarzan Gooooto stand toe to toe with Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams. You saw me hold them back. You saw me take them to the locker room. Now understand that I am the only person who can control these two monsters, but I took pity on the mothers and children in the stands. I did not want to scar them for life with the carnage I could have unleashed. Now everyone in the audience and watching at home, next time I won’t hold them back. Fathers, you might want to take the children into a different room as The Butcher is going to cut Dibiase and Williams into little pieces. Everybody, consider yourself warned! The bounty will be mine! COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our next match, Dusty Rhodes and Ron Simmons are with David Crockett discussing the Black Blart/Jimmy Jack Funk situation. Ron Simmons: Dusty… I’d just like to thank you for your help last week. Black Bart… you showed your true colors last week and that color is all yellow! You’re a coward. You knew you couldn’t beat me so you had Jimmy Jack Funk waiting to attack. Dusty …. You are truly one of the good guys around here. We don’t know each other very well and you came to me aid. Again… thanks. Dusty Rhodes: Ron Simmons… you’re right. The American Dream doesn’t know you very well but the way you’ve spoken around here the last few weeks… humble… respectful… You are just the type of wrestler we need around here. So it was my pleasure. Now let’s get to the real issue at hand … if you willllll! When I came to that ring, I had no idea that masked creature was a Funk… I’m guessing I should’ve known from that rancid smell coming off that body. Now Jimmy Jack Funk… I’m sure that no good Uncle of yours… Terry Funk… has spewed lots of garbage about all Dusty to you. I bet he’s had all the little children sitting around the fire place talking about that egg suckin doooog Dusty Rhodes. Well as far as I’m concerned..... I couldn’t care one iota about what Terry Funk or any other Funk has said about me. What I can tell you Jimmy Jack Funk is that I, the American Dream Dusty Rhodes, is your worst nightmare. I’m goin stomp a mudhole in you six feet deep and then bury you in it. A dead Funk is the best Funk. Now Ron Simmons… it’s going to be me and you at Fall Brawl and we are going to take Black Bart and Jimmy Jack Funk to the woodshed, ya here! MATCH #3 The Young Guns (Houston & Kendall Windham) defeat The Black Shadows as The Young Guns connected on double running bulldogs after both Shadows used some very questionable tactics. After the bout Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt are with David Crockett. Both Eddie and Missy take turns bad mouthing both Rip Rogers and the WCW Television Champion Tom Zenk. Gilbert again argues that he is the real TV champ and he tries to prove it by showing everyone his defunct Mid-South TV Title. All this does is bring out Rip Rogers and Ms. Terri. Missy immediately hides behind Eddie as it is obvious she is in fear of the muscular Ms. Terri. Terri, while laughing, tells Missy that she isn’t worth her time and not to be worried. Eddie sticks up for Missy saying that Ms. Terri should be considered the lucky one as Missy could take care of her very easily if she wanted to. Tom Zenk comes out and lets them all know that he is the real TV champ and that Eddie Gilbert just tells lies after lies while Rip Rogers just lets a girl do all of his fighting for them. Rip takes offense to this and tells Tom that at least he has the looks and the body to get a woman and all he ever sees is the Z-Man standing alone. This leads Zenk to challenge both Eddie and Missy along with Rip and Terri to an intergender 6 Triple Threat match next week and if he loses, he will give the belt to whichever team pins him or his partner. Rip and Eddie quickly accept while Missy screams at Eddie about the fact she isn’t a wrestler. Next, Rip and Eddie want to know who Zenk’s partner is but he just smiles and walks away. COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our next bout, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Woman are with David Crockett where David shows a video from last week of Dan Spivey being named the newest Horsemen. Ric Flair: People… the man hunt is over. The third Horseman has arrived! We now have the trump card… The Ace is now in our hands! We now hold the WCW World Title! We now hold the WCW United States Title! And we have the Enforcer… capable of beating any wrestler in the World today! Arn Anderson: Come on in here Dan Spivey. Just when people thought it couldn’t get any better, we added the unstoppable force to our group. Now we are as near to full strength as possible. The Horsemen have been and will be the preeminent force in professional wrestling for as long as we want to be. Sting… Lex Luger… Dusty Rhodes… it doesn’t matter who is on the other side of the ring, the Horseman are coming out on top! Dan Spivey: That’s right Arn. I’m 6’6, 290 pounds of pure muscle. I am the real man of steel in WCW and folks… you better learn to like it! We are taking names and handing out beatings. Arn Anderson: Can you believe it… Flair has taking care of Luger. He is nowhere to be seen. That freak with the face paint, Sting, has called himself the party crasher but I haven’t heard boo from him since Spivey has joined the Horseman… and as for Dusty Rhodes… I think he’s made up some feud with this guy Jimmy Jack Funk just to avoid the new and improved Horsemen. Suddenly the crowd explodes as Sting and Lex Luger head to the podium. Sting: Arn… you said a minute ago that you haven’t heard boo from me since Spivey joined the Horseman. I guess you must have had a whole lot of ear wax in those dirty ears of yours as I have been screaming from the top of the mountain how Lex and I want you people in the ring. Ever since you sucker punched me on TV a few weeks ago, I’ve been dreaming about what I would do to you when I got you in the ring and if crashing another one of your Horseman parties gets me that much closer to that much, consider this another crashed party! Lex Luger: Congratulations Mr. Spivey. You are a Horsemen. I wonder how it feels … to be second choice. That’s right Spivey. Even someone as dumb as you can think back just a few weeks when Ric Flair here called me out and asked me to join his precious group. Even someone like you can remember back two weeks ago when Flair again asked me to join the Horsemen and turn on the Stinger here. I was asked twice to be a Horsemen. No tryout needed. No scouting needed. Just a flat out offer. An offer I quickly turned down. You see, I’m just that much smarter then you. I knew they just wanted a workhorse. Arn and Ric here just wanted someone to do their dirty work for them. (You can just tell the Horsemen are fuming) Now Arn and Ric… you two talk a good game but lets see if you can put your money where your mouth is. At Fall Brawl, you and Arn vs Sting and me. Flair and Arn seem to think they are unstoppable with Spivey in their corner, quickly accept and start to close in on the Sting and Luger… Luger: Oh and before you get any ideas of a 3 on 2 attack, I would like to bring out a close friend of mine…. Freebird Terry Gordy! The fans explode as Bam Bam walks out. The Horsemen are in a fit of rage but back away and head to the locker room. As the fan favorites celebrate their moral victories, David Crockett takes us back to the ring. MATCH #4 Hacksaw Butch Reed dominated Jimmy Del Ray with the end coming after a Military Press Slam. After the match, Hacksaw Butch Reed, Snowman, and Kareem Muhammed join David Crockett at the podium. David Crockett: Hacksaw, I can’t say that I approve of your methods, but you are one great wrestler. Snowman: And do you see the improvement each and every week and this all started when he joined Kareem and myself in the Nation of Domination. Kareem Muhammed: That’s right Snowman. Butch, you’ve always been one of the best but now that you are following our lead, you are unstoppable. I see titles in your future. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Hold on just a minute. I want to make sure I got this all right. Since joining the Nation and your guidance, I am becoming a better wrestler. Snowman: That’s right Brother! I mean now that you have stopped catering to the authority around here, you are finally at the top of the mountain. Hacksaw Reed: Again… not so sure. Before joining the Nation, I held titles all over the country. Now, it seems like the only thing better since I joined the Nation, are you two. Hacksaw heads off as Snowman and Kareen have a quizzical look on their faces. COMMERCIAL BREAK MATCH #5 “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch defeated Larry Cheatum with the Brainbuster. After the bout Dick Murdoch is at the podium with David Crockett where he informs us that his Texas Outlaw partner, Stan Hansen, is currently on a wrestling tour of Japan and that he will be back real soon. He also wants everyone to know that is Dusty needs any help with Jimmy Jack Funk, he is more than willing. Murdoch explains that almost everything that comes out of Texas is wonderful with the exception of the Funk family! COMMERCIAL BREAK MAIN EVENT MATCH “Fab One” Steve Keirn vs Mando Guerrero Interesting thing here was that Steve Keirn was a no show. Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross really acted like they had no idea where he was. Lucky for the fans, Brad Armstrong took Keirn’s place. Mando had called out Armstrong last week wondering why he got so much attention for being this great second-generation wrestler and that the Guerreros were the greatest family in wrestling. As for this match, it is fast-paced and back and forth. Mando quickly learned that Brad was willing to mix it up as a counter to all of Guerrero’s dirty tactics. When it looked like Brad finally had control, Ricky Santana rushed the ring and attacked Brad. It was like Brad knew this was going to happen and he had a plan for it. Less than 10 seconds behind Santana was his partner, Tim Horner. We get a great brawl between The Latin Connection and The Lightening Express which eventually ends as we go to commercial break. COMMERCIAL BREAK Tony Schiavone: Folks, while we are out of time, it seems like business has really picked up here in WCW. The Horsemen have some serious people wanting a piece of them. The Latin Connection and the Lightening Express seem to have unfinished business. How long can Dibiase and Dr. Death stay out of harms way with a 2-million-dollar bounty in their wrestling careers. What is going to happen to the WCW television title. Dusty Rhodes going after another Funk and what is going on with the Nation of Domination. So many issues to be solved here in WCW as Fall Brawl is less that 6 weeks away. For Jim Ross and David Crockett, I’m Tony Schiavone, we’ll see you next week right here on World Championship Wrestling.

SummerSlam was really well done! I think the highlights for me included Sunka coming over of Andre's shoulders with the Spalsh. Seeing Savage call out Hogan was great. Also, loved the Demolition- Powers of Pain match. I think you did a great job of giving us a true WWF 1988 feel.

Really interesting show with a lot of questions left to answer after Winnipeg. I can't wait to see who Blackwell wrestles and to see how this effects Morrow and Blackwell's relationship. I think we all love a good bounty angle but I'm hoping someone puts one out on Gagne! He is so annoying. Great job with his whole persona. I think the Glamour Boys should have just been more respectful. lol. Interesting angle which is really going to get one team over. Dream Machine-Mr. Olympia is a cool angle.

So many cool angles right now in the AWA! I was really thinking the entire time I was reading this show was that we were going to get a new TV champ. I even thought this after Oliver knocked the sunglasses off of Adias. Then the great twist... Crusher Blackwell. Nice booking! Awesome promos with Zhukov and Smirnoff... Mother Russian talk always sells tickets. I like the opening angle with Kokina for Kerry. I wonder where Kerry will be in a year from now in Dawn of War. He could really do it all for you. This is going to be fun. The Wild Ones are perfect HEAT. They are like Greg Gagne in your AWA world. So is Lanny Poffo. You are getting so much out of wrestlers that others have struggled with. Awesome job!

World Championship Wrestling (1988- )
EPISODE #4 SEPTEMBER 2, 1988 The show starts with a video tape replay of the ending of last week’s show where we had complete chaos in the Ric Flair-Lex Luger World Title Match. From Woman ringing the bell in order to trick everyone into believing that time had expired to referee Pee Wee Anderson using the instant replay to the low blow by Ric Flair after the restart of the match, this was action packed. The real story here was when Dan Spivey and Arn Anderson held Sting down as Flair urged Luger join the Horsemen and attack Sting and Luger attacked Flair instead! Now we get the normal intro to World Championship wrestling! Tony Schiavone: Hi everybody. Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling. Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and David Crockett ringside here with World Championship Wrestling, the major league of professional wrestling. As you just saw from last week, you can always expect the unexpected here in World Championship Wrestling and you can expect more of the same this week. Jim, I’ve been told you have a big announcement. Jim Ross: That’s right Tony. World Championship Wrestling will be holding its first Clash of Champions since returning to the Superstation on Monday, October 17th. This event, titled Fall Brawl will be held at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Already signed for that night will be the crowning of the new WCW United States Tag Team Champions. David Crockett: That is going to be a great night right here on the Superstation. As for our show tonight, you won’t want to miss a minute. We have the debut of the Latin Connection, Mando Guerrero and Ricky Santana. We will see if Black Bart can put his money where his mouth is as he will face the up-and-coming Ron Simmons. The Rock n Roll Express will be making their in-ring return to WCW. We also have 3 huge title matches for you tonight. Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death will be putting their WCW World Tag Team Titles on the line against the Lightening Express. Tom Zenk will try and defend the WCW World Television Title against Rip Rogers with Ms. Terri. Also, the United States Title will be on the line as Dan Spivey defends against Kendall Windham. The Horsemen will be here. The Texas Outlaws will be here. What a night this is going to be and let’s get it started. MATCH #1 The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) defeat Allen Martin & Bill Taub by submission when Mando locked on the Gurri Special on Martin after many questionable tactics and illegal double teams. After the bout The Latin Connection joins David Crockett where he is disappointed in their in-ring approach. Mando Guerrero: How dare you David Crockett tell a Guerrero what to do in the ring. I come from the greatest wrestling family in the history of the sport. I watch you praise people like Brad Armstrong as a great second-generation wrestler and how wrestling is in his blood. Around the world his name means nothing. They’ve never heard of an Armstrong but ask them about the Guerreros and they can tell you the stories of greatness right away. Now I have taken Ricky Santana under my wing. I am going to teach him the art of the sport… the way to keep your opponents down …. How to inflict unbearable pain … all in a legal way of course and to ultimately get the win…. Arriba! David Crockett: Not sure we saw any legal moves tonight, but you did get the win. Ricky Santana: I have been warned about you David…. About WCW in general. I’ve been told that you are not so welcoming to the Latin people. I’ve been told that we will have to take down teams like the Lightening Express and the Young Guns just to get an ounce of respect. Trust me, that will not be a problem. Latin fans… don’t worry… you now have a team you can be proud of… we are like the great Bandidos of the past. We will take what we want by any means necessary. David… you can’t stop this! Santana then starts speaking Spanish and David has no idea what is going on. Eventually, he just says that the Latin Connection is as they say they are… Bandidos who were trying to steal the show. COMMERCIAL BREAK When we come out of break, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Dan Spivey and Woman are with David Crockett to talk about the chaotic ending we saw last week. Ric Flair: I’ve come to live by one motto, Survival! Two matches with Lex Luger… two times I leave as the WCW World Champion. I’ve never claimed to play this game by the rules. I play it the Ric Flair way and if I use a low blow, I use a low blow. The only thing that matters is that the Nature Boy leaves with the World Title. Now Lex Luger… Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…. Shame on me! We’ve given you two chances to join the greatest organization in the world of sports today and twice you’ve made your choice. Now, this is a dog-eat-dog world! It is now our job to rid wrestling of Lex Luger. Wooooo! Arn Anderson: You tell um Natch! Now as for you Sting…. You keep sticking your nose where it don’t belong and as you learned last week… it’s not good for your health when you do that. Keep it up Sting and your career will be a very short career. Dan Spivey: Dusty Rhodes…. For some reason you go around here thinking that you need to solve everyone’s problem. Well, I got news for you… you got your own big problem… A 6’10, 300 pound problem. You claim to be the American Dream… the man of the people. There’s just one problem with that. I am the United States Champion. And as Ric has taught me, to be the man, you got to beat the man. Dusty… I’m waiting. Why don’t you try beat me and be a man for once in your life. MATCH #2 Ron Simmons defeats Black Bart when a man with a partial black mask, a cowboy hat, chaps and a bull rope hits the ring (Jimmy Jack Funk) makes his WCW debut and attacks Simmons. Before Simmons takes too much of a beating, Dusty Rhodes, Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen hit the ring and after a few Bionic Elbows and some big slams, the ring is cleared and they go to the aid of Ron Simmons. Tony Schiavone really hypes up Ron Simmons to help get him over by focusing on the idea that if Dusty and the Texas Outlaws (Murdoch & Hansen) come to his aid, they must really think a lot of this youngster. It also served to help Dusty and The Outlaws stop some chatter that maybe the Nation of Domination is right and there is some amount of racism about Dusty and the Good Ol Boys he is hanging around with. When David Crockett informs Dusty Rhodes that the attacker was Jimmy Jack Funk, a relative of Terry Funk, Dusty completely lost it!!! COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our next match, Sting is at the podium with David Crockett. David Crockett: I’m sure you heard Ric Flair and Arn Anderson our here earlier and they are not too happy about how you got involved last week in Flair’s World Title defense against Lex Luger. Sting: David… for far too long in this sport, the Horsemen have been having a party. The only rules they follow are ones that help them. Well, as we saw last week, this is about to change. Last week, when Woman tried to cheat Lex out of a fair match, I made sure to come out and crash their party… and guess what…. The Stinger is going to keep on crashing your Horsemen Parties! Arn you talk a good game but I haven’t heard you say a word unless you’ve been surrounded by Flair and Spivey! Suddenly Lex Luger comes out and thanks Sting for helping him last week and Sting also thanks him the help once the situation got a little bit hairy. David Crockett: I think you guys are really onto something. The best way to beat the Horsemen is to make sure you got each other’s backs. MATCH #3 The Rock n Roll Express beat Larry Cheatum & Keith Steiborn with a Double Drop Kick on Cheatum After the bout, the Rock n Roll Express join David Crockett David Crocket: Ricky Morton… Robert Gibson…. The Rock n Roll Express are back in the WCW. I can’t tell you guys how much the fans have been asking about you and now you’re here! Ricky Morton: Let me tell you something David… No matter where we went, people always asks us when are you coming back to WCW, the greatest wrestling organization in the world. Now that we’re back, we wonder why we ever left. There’s a lot of great teams here but we plan on being the best. Robert Gibson: David, it’s great to be back in WCW and to be real honest with you, after hearing the news that there will be new United States Tag Team Title crowned at Fall Brawl, we are even more excited to be here. We would love to be the first team in a long time to hold them belts. What do you think everybody…. The Rock n Roll Express with a title around our waist seems pretty good to me! The fans give a big ovation as David takes us to break. COMMERCIAL BREAK MATCH #4 WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death Steve Williams © vs The Lightening Express A few interesting things here included the fact that Dibiase and Williams got as much of an ovation as the Lightening Express. This even continued after Dibiase refused a handshake from Tim Horner and hit him with a big elbow instead. The match had a few momentum changes but the champions were in firm control of the match; proving to everyone that they were the best team in WCW! Unfortunately, the champions showcase was short lived as Gary Hart and his beast made their first attempt at riding WCW of the champions. Jim Ross: Watch Out! Here comes Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto. Wow, look at this. Dibiase and Dr. Death were ready for them. These four behemoths are sizing each other up in the center of the ring. WHAM… the brawl is on! The fans get a good 2-3 minutes of chaos before Gary Hart sees that he will not be taking Dibiase and Dr. Death out of wrestling just yey, so he calls Abullah and Tarzan out of the ring to fight another day! The champs are standing in the center of the ring screaming at Hart and daring his beast to come back for more but Hart simply gives a wry smile and walks away. This brawl only served to get the fans more behind the champs even though their tactics in tonight’s match were clearly those of the heel team. Dibiase and Dr. Death join David Crockett after the chaos. Dr. Death: We told you Gary Hart… there’s no getting rid of us. I think it’s time you run back to Louisiana and tell Sheik Adnan that you can’t get the job done. Ted Dibiase: Here’s the thing… Sheik Adnan paid us both a great deal of money for one reason and one reason only. We are simply the best. Gary Hart… It’s going to take a lot more than two Neanderthals to put us out of wrestling. Abdullah and Tarzan Goto… you two are just too stupid to know that you’re being used. It doesn’t matter though… the real problem is that snake, Gary Hart. I mean what kind of human being takes money to put someone else out of a job… and worse than that…. You can’t even do it yourself. Maybe it’s you Gary Hart that needs to watch your back! COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our TV Title Match between Tom Zenk © and Rip Rogers, Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert are at the podium ranting about how WCW got it all wrong and that it is Eddie who deserves the TV Title shot and not Rip Rogers. David Crockett gives it right back to Gilbert when he says that the WCW Board of Directors might take him seriously if he would stop walking around here with that defunct Mid-South TV Title and calling himself the real champion. MATCH #5 WCW WORLD TV TITLE MATCH Tom Zenk © vs Rip Rogers with Ms. Terri A few interesting things of note here. First, Ms. Terri walked right over to the Z-Man before the match as if to give him the chance to give her a good look-over. Rip Rogers seemed to notice this and wasn’t too happy with his well-built valet. As for the match, Zenk was able to control about 60 percent of the action but with his dirty tactics, Rogers had quite a good number of chances. At one point, Rip Rogers tossed Zenk to the floor and went out after him as Ms. Terri went to the apron to distract ref Pee Wee Anderson. A few good whips into the ring post has Zenk in some serious trouble. Rogers gets ready to roll Zenk into the ring and go for the win when Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt strut out to the ring. Jim Ross is real concerned for Zenk now! WHAM… Eddie Gilbert just clobbered Rip Rogers in the face with the Mid-South Title and then he rolls Rogers into the ring. Gilbert next drags Zenk in and places him on top of Rogers. Pee Wee Anderson turns around just in time to make the 3 count! Ms. Terri wasn’t sure what happened but then sees Missy Hyatt pointing at herself as then Rip Rogers on the ground and its like a lightbulb goes off in her head and she takes off after Missy. Missy hightails it to the locker room and nobody is exactly sure what happened behind the curtain. COMMERCIAL BREAK MAIN EVENT MATCH UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH Dan Spivey © vs Kendall Windham Again, a few interesting things occurred in this match. First, Woman did not accompany Spivey to the ring which made Tony Schiavone guess that the tryout period for the Four Horseman was still going on. Next, it was during the match that Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Woman came out to watch the match. They started viewing from way back by the curtain but gradually made their way to ringside. Give Spivey some credit here. He knew he was being watch and he laid the boots to the young Windham. Eventually Spivey seems to put an end to the match after the big man hits the powerbomb! As he gets ready to pin Windham where he Ric Flair Ric Flair: Woooaaa Woooaaa Woooaaa… what are you doing! Horseman finish off their opponents for good not just for the match! It’s time for another powerbomb! A sick smile comes over Spivey… WHAM…. Another powerbomb. Arn Anderson tells him one more! Jim Ross is pleading with Spivey to stop! Tony Schiavone is excited as here comes Sam Houston… Windham’s tag team partner. Flair lets Spivey know Houston is coming. WHAM… Big kick by Spivey on Houston. Spivey lifts up Houston and connects with a big powerbomb on Houston. Spivey puts his boot on the chest of Kendall Windham as the ref completes the three count. Now Flair, Arn and Woman head to the ring where they toss the Young Guns to the floor and they all shake hands with Spivey. Tony Schiavone: Folks, while we are out of time, it seems like we have just seen Dan Spivey officially welcomed into the Horseman. We will have a more definitive answer to that topic next week. For Jim Ross and David Crockett, I’m Tony Schiavone, we’ll see you next week right here on World Championship Wrestling.

AWA Major League Wrestling
I think all the new talent coming into the AWA is going to make for some great new feuds. I think the highlight here for me was hearing Boris and Alexis explain why they are coming after Nikita. I always found wrestling heels of the 80's to just be better. I guess that is because they were never worried about being politically correct. Buzz-Carlos is going to be real wild! I see Larry Z thinks there is no competition in the AWA... wonder he is going to step up... Not sure if Kerry has anyone lined up but that could be interesting. The AWA giving 2 nights away for the price of one... are they just being nice or feeling some pressure as certain promotions seem to want to grow quickly. Maybe now finally after 4.5 years we are at the Dawn of War!

I really enjoyed this show. One of the reasons is that I am able to learn a lot about a world I know nothing about. Just looking at the card and seeing so many submission wins, I realize how different this style is. In the world I am used to, I rarely remember too many submissions in big matches as it often ruined the loser who would now be seen as week.
