  1. WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING EPISODE #1 AUGUST 12, 1988 TED TURNER: It seems that Ted Turner was not very happy with how his meeting with Jerry Jarrett (Memphis) and Ernie Ladd (Mid-South) went a few weeks ago. Turner fully believes that his Superstation is the vehicle to take professional wrestling to the national stage. By the time the meeting ended, he didn’t trust that Jarrett really wanted the same thing as he did. He also did not believe that Ladd was completely finished with his legal matters with Cowboy Bill Watts. While he did have a handshake agreement with Jarrett, Turner decided to go quickly in a different direction. He decided to go all in a purchase World Championship Wrestling. This promotion, formally promoted in The Carolinas and surrounding states had recently moved to the Midwest with Chicago as its base. Turner believes that this roster, along with some other contracts he recently purchased from Memphis and Mid-South has the ability to take this sport to the next level. He also believes that a return to the The Superstation will help him achieve his goal even quicker. RANDY SAVAGE: The first show on WCW’s return to the Superstation opened to a video of Randy “Macho Man” Savage holding his WCW World heavyweight title and Miss. Elizabeth standing on top of a bridge. Savage looks angry and Miss. Elizabeth looks concerned. Randy Savage: Dis is Macho Man Randy Savage yeah… standing atop the Michigan Ave. Bridge yeah… here in the Windy City… Chicago, Illinois oh yeah. I just heard the news and Macho Man aint none too happy about it… No sir eeee. For whatever reason… yeah…. Greed… oh yeahhh….Greed. It’s the root of all evil. The Macho Man just found out that the greedy weasel from Atlanta… Ted Turner… the greedy rat has bought WCW and is bringing it home to Atlanta and the South. Well, The Macho Man don’t eat no grits. The Macho Man don’t eat no black-eyed peas and the Macho Man don’t live with no hillbillies. Ohhhh Nooo No No. So, Ted Turner, your first expense is going to be buying a new World Title. Macho Man Out! Randy Savage tosses the world title into the Chicago River and the video goes blank. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING’S WORLD TITLE Tony Schiavone: I guess it’s safe to say that not everyone likes WCW’s return to the Superstation. It appears that Randy Savage was not too happy as he tossed the World Championship Title into the Chicago River. It is safe to say that he will be looking for new employment. Jim Ross: And it is safe to say, that WCW will be in search of a new champion. TS: And that question is going to be answered very quickly. The WCW has been fielding phone calls from top wrestlers from all over the country to see how that question is going to be answered. Well, listen to this. Monday night in the Tulsa Convention there is going to be a 5- man Gauntlet Match with the winner walking out as the new WCW World Champion. Listen to these names… “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, “The Total Package” Lex Luger, “Hacksaw” Butch Reed, and yes… Sting is here and he will be the 5th man in the Gauntlet Match! JR: Fans in Tulsa, get your tickets now. This is going to be an historic event. NEW WCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS Tony Schiavone: Speaking of historic… the WCW World Champion isn’t going to be the only new champion here in the new WCW. That’s right folks, this past week in Houston, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death Steve Williams defeated The Midnight Rockers to become the new WCW World Tag Team Champions! Jim Ross: Fans, I know Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death from my days in Mid-South Wrestling and they are going to be one double tough team to defeat. I could see them being champions for quite some time. TS: That maybe so but take a look at this video of the newest tag team to sign with WCW…. VIDEO CLIP: The clip is a highlight reel of the Rock n Roll Express…. Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson. From double drop kicks to slapping hands with the fans to high flying top rope action to as many bandanas as you could count. It is clear that Dibiase and Dr. Death will have some stiff competition. WILL THE REAL TV CHAMPION PLEASE STAND UP: Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt showed up on WCW this week carrying his Mid-South TV Title. Neither one of Hot Stuff Inc. wanted to listen to Jim Ross who told him that his Mid-South TV title isn’t valid here in WCW as “The Z Man” Tom Zenk is the current WCW World Television Champion. Both Gilbert and Missy scoffed at the idea that he was not the champion as everyone would want his good-looking couple to be the face of the promotion and not the hideous Tom Zenk. Jim Ross started to argue about just how good looking Zenk was but he quickly stopped himself from doing so and just told Gilbert that Zenk is currently the only Television champion that will be recognized here in WCW. Again, Gilbert just shakes his head like Jim Ross is not thinking straight. THE UNITED STATES TITLE While the rest of WCW’s title picture seems a bit murky, Dan Spivey is still the U.S. champion. Rumors are swirling around that Spivey has gone to Ric Flair and Arn Anderson to see about become the next Horseman. BACK TO A MORE REGULAR SHOW NEXT WEEK!
  2. I will add Ray Candy, Ron Starr, and Roger Smith
  3. Great recap! Such a hectic time in our game with so many moving parts. You did an awesome job of moving forward.
  4. Nice job getting us all caught up instead of jumping in to where we are at and leaving us with a big gap.
  5. Sorry for falling a bit behind here. Really love the Plowboy-Dundee stuff. Dundee gives you that one big name to hel sell the tickets and bring in the more casual fan. Nice work.
  6. Where should Lou Perez be?
  7. kevinmcfl replied to kevinmcfl's topic in Dawn of War
WCW adds Honky Tonk Man to the trade block.
  8. Up to you guys. I am fine with him in both as it would work with you two in the same location.
  9. I'm fine with it also.
  10. Free Agency is now open. With so many moving parts, I ask that you limit your selections to 2 per day though Saturday. This will give everyone a chance to look at where they stand and fill in any holes that are needed. Also, please, please double check your rosters. I have been trying to get them set but am working on 4 hours sleep in the last 40+ hours. I am also going to add Sam Houston and Kendall Windham to my roster before finally going to sleep.
  11. I understand you may be frustrated but Rain has all the right in the world to regain his wrestlers that never would have been available if we were not as welcoming to new writers as we are. I have been involved in other games where you get what's left over and that's it! Look at the roster LowBlow has built in a year with us. That is partly due to great trades on his part but also because he started with some talent that we gave him. We gave you three continents worth of people to pick from but it is our fault for wanting our own wrestlers back! Come on. I have received over 150 emails in the past 24 hours and many have not been the kindest. I am sorry that some people don't like that our game has rules. To publicly complain about what we do is uncalled for. So ... as you said... come on! If people can't tell... I have had about enough. I have answered ever email. I have tried to explain our rules. I have tried be help to as many people as I could to enjoy our version of the game. I have actually given away 1/2 my roster on 3 different occasions. But we are still the ones doing others wrong. Take this as you want but I am about to be the one who walks. This is the first time in 5 years I have publically voiced my displeasure. That is how tired of the nonsense I am. My kids are wondering what I have been doing all weekend. You try to explain to them that I am busy trying to make grown men happy over who is in the game, who is on their roster, why others aren't being nice and why do they have to follow the rules. Try those excuses with your bosses.
  12. Sorry, left one thing out... Jimmy Jack has released a few wrestlers into free agency as he is moving to Memphis. If he released anyone he took from you during his unprotected draft and you would like to reclaim them, you are free to do that. Check free agency to see if any of your wrestlers are there and let me know. Other than this, free agency is closed
  13. Free agency is now closed except for people being released into it as Straightedge will be joining us after our supplemental draft. Please remember to stay within your roster limit.
  14. You can claim Albright as one of your foreign exemptions which lasts for up to 3 months. Albright, according to wrestlingdata.com doesn't spend any time in Japan until 1991.
  15. Stampede (soon to be Memphis... Jimmy Jack) traded with Memphis (soon to WCW.... Kevin Jerry Lawler Bill Dundee Tommy Rich Austin Idol Dutch Mantel The Dirty White Boy The Grappler Nightmare Danny Davis Nightmare Ken Wayne Roger Smith Don Bass Adrian Street Ms. Linda (Manager) Jeff Jarrett For all picks in the upcoming supplemental draft and Jimmy Jack's 1st and 3rd round picks in the rookie draft.
  16. With Lowblow now running WWF, the wrestlers who should have been retired are now considered to be retired and have been removed from the roster. As for Vader and Japan, the deal with Control is that his promotion is eligible for 3-6 month exchanges with a North American promotion. So where ever Vader ends up, a deal could be made between the two promotions. That will go with all wrestlers in North America.
  17. Continental Wrestling Association begins to try and clean up its roster by releasing Bob Armstrong, Grizzly Boone, Lanny Kean, and Teijho Khan. Jerry Jarret is accepted phone calls on offers for anyone on the roster.
  18. If you don't stay ahead, you quickly fall behind. That is the message Ted Turner had for both Jerry Jarrett and Ernie Ladd in a big meeting held this week in Atlanta. Turner was referring to what seems to be a push by many of the wrestling territories to become "national" promotions. He stated recent roster changes and huge pay per view shows by some of the other territories as his evidence. Turner also explained that the names being used by Jarrett, Memphis Wresting or Championship Wrestling, gives his promotion "a small town feel." When Jarrett tried to explain that "a small town promotion" is just what he was looking for and bigger doesn't always mean better, Turner quickly stated that that Superstation 17 was looking for the exact opposite. He told Jarrett that Memphis must go back to using the Continental Wrestling Association name and logo if it wanted to continue on his station. Jarrett quickly excepted as he really had no choice. This quickly showed who was in charge of the meeting.... the man with the least wrestling knowledge. Can a white collar business man run this wild, blue collar sport? I mean if this works out, you might someday see a business mogul in the white house regardless of political knowledge. Ernie Ladd thought he was reading the room well when he suggested that he back to using the Universal Wrestling Federation, or UWF for short, as his name. This seemed to anger Turner who said that he was not in the habit of paying off lawsuits and reminded him the Cowboy Bill Watts and the U.S. Federal Courts have already ruled that he is not allowed to use the name UWF. When Ladd said that he was fine continuing with the name Mid-South then, Turner simply said that Superstation 17 will be showing Continental Wrestling Association shows only as he "again" wants a show to span the continent just as his television station does. What exactly does this mean for Ladd, only time will tell. Most feel that Memphis is going to expand into other Southern states and will add some roster pieces, mostly coming from Ladd's Mid-South territory. Does this mean that Ladd and Jarrett will join together? Maybe but Ladd has shown that he likes to work alone. Maybe this was just due to his inability to work with Bill Watts and that he will function better with Jarrett. It seems with Turner firmly behind the CWA, Ladd is just a puppet who will soon be begging for a job in the industry. Whatever happens with Ladd, expect the roster in Memphis to grow as it seems that it will soon have all 3 hours to fill on the Superstation each week. Stay tuned... Memphis might be losing its small town feel. This will either make Jarrett's promotion one of the leaders in the industry or it will bring about its demise as we have scene from so many other territories in this Dawn of Wrestling Wars that has taken over the industry. So when will all of this change occur? Basically as soon as my head can figure out some direction. Expect Memphis... ummmm,... the CWA to be back in a few weeks.
  19. We have been down this road a few times in the past and the debate has cost us writers on numerous occasions. We have a divide in the opinions of what the best roster size is, what the jobber rule should be, when a person is considered to be a rookie, when a person should get pushed, when a person is considered retired and when a writer should should be replaced due to inactivity. Over the past 4 and a half years, the writers here have changed often with a core of 3 or 4 being involved for the entire length of the game. With the changing of writers over time, maybe the beliefs of the majority have also changed. With that being said, feel free to propose any rules change to my in a private message. Then I can put it out to the group of writers anonymously and we can all get on the same page. If you have no suggestions for rules changes, please stop complaining about the rules of the game as it only serves to pull us apart as it has done in the past. I have said this before, we are all equal here and the majority rules the game. Please feel free to propose as many rules changes as you like to make Dawn of War a better and more inviting place.
  20. Just my thought on the subject of rookies and retirements... I was always in favor of wrestlers not being eligible to be in our game until they had wrestled 10 matches in a given year in a major promotion which is pretty easy to track through either cagematch or wrestlingdata. I know these are not perfect but the major promotions did a good job of keeping records. This stops us all from pushing people way to fast. Right now we have major players in Dawn of War who were never heard of by anyone in 1988 unless you lived in the small indy territory that they worked in. I was out voted on this idea and we went with the idea of wrestlers being allowed into our game as long as there is any evidence that they wrestled at all in any year. As far as retirements, I think our current rule is pretty good as we do allow for retired wrestlers to work in a territory and even participate in matches. I do agree that many of the wrestlers who we have on the retired list did work in the indys for a long time. My problem with this is that none of us are running small indys. We are running major promotions with TV contracts, named pay per view shows and bloated rosters. I just looked at the Memphis roster from 1988 and they were getting by with like 16 guys per month with a few jobbers and guys doing some spot shows. If you look at Georgia Championship Wrestling in 1982 they ran 30 shows per month and survived with only 10 wrestlers wrestling in 20 shows. The rest of the roster were jobbers and part time role players and a few stars who came in for the monthly show at the Omni. If we feel that our rosters are not deep enough, large enough, or that there is not enough talent to go around, I think we are getting way off base. I am truly struggling right now to even right shows because my roster is just too big with too much star power. I would prefer to cut roster size, wait for rookies to be in major promotions before being allowed to be drafted and have wrestlers who are wrestling like once a month to be considered retired. I understand that I am in the minority but if anyone would like to propose any rule changes, we can vote on anything here. We are all equal here in Dawn of War.
  21. Fun show as always. The Dark Journey angle has been so well done. Can't wait to see what is next. If ever there was a wrestler meant for a certain promotion it is Plowboy! Way to start selling those tickets... announce Superstar Dundee early and get the fans on board!
  22. CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #20: July 22, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. Before we get to the opening segment, Championship Wrestling opens to a montage from this past Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum. We see Terry Gordy hitting the powerslam on Nature Boy Buddy Landel for the pin and the ref handing the Southern Heavyweight Title to Gordy. The next part of the video focuses on the Southern Tag Team Tournament where, at the end, we see Jerry Jarrett hand the Southern Tag Titles to The Assassins, only to have the Assassins take off their masks and reveal themselves as “Dirty” Dutch Mantel and “The Heartthrob” Austin Idol. (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell with Austin Idol, and there with their new Southern Tag Team Titles draped over their shoulders.) Mr. Hughes, Dutch’s bodyguard, is in the picture but he just stands with his arms folded, sunglasses on, looking as mean as possible. Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Fans, welcome to another edition of championship wrestling, the world leader in professional wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. I’m Lance Russell and alongside me as always is the Dirty Dutchman, Dutch Mantell. Dutch, what in the heck was that all about last Monday night at the Coliseum. I mean I’ve seen you do some pretty sneaky things around here but that one takes the cake. Dutch: Well another show… another insult. I mean would it kill you to congratulate Autis Idol and myself on becoming the Southern Tag Team Champions. (You here a gasp from the fans who were not at the show this past Monday and didn’t know that Dutch and Austin Idol won the title) Lance: Yea… I thought the Assassins won the tournament and so did Jerry Jarrett. I’m sure he’ll have something to say about this. Austin Idol: So good to see you again also Lance. I know you are thrilled to have the Universal Heartthrob back in Memphis. I mean it took Dutch and I one day… that’s right just one day to rise to the top of the mountain … a place we plan on staying for a long, long time. There isn’t a team around who can take these titles from us. Now I’ve heard you say Jerry Jarrett will have something to say about Dutch and I winning these Southern Tag Titles. Lance, I’m not sure that is even possible. Did you see that imbecile Jerry Jarrett’s face when he handed us the titles and then we took off those Assassin masks? I mean his jaw hit the floor so hard I’m sure he broke it in about 4 places. I’m sure it’s wired shut by now. Dutch: Oh wouldn’t that be great. A Jarrett with a wired jaw. Lance: You two are impossible. I think his jaw is just fine and I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes those titles right back from you and awards them to Superstar Bill Dundee and “The Fab One” Steve Keirn. On cue, Dundee and Keirn come out to the applause of the crowd. While Lance begs for some decorum, Dundee and Keirn don’t seem to care and get right in the face the Champs are yelling about how they stole the title. Next to the scene is Jerry Jarrett who seems to agree with Dundee and Keirn and seems about to strip the titles from Dutch and Idol. Dutch: Hold on their just a minute Mr. President. You did everything in your power to keep me out of this tournament. I applied 3 times and you turned me down just out of spite. Now Austin and myself win the tournament and you have the nerve to even think about handing our titles to a team we just beat. Jerry Jarrett: Spite had nothing to do with it. There were rules. You needed to be a current tag team and send in footage for the Board of Directors to evaluate. You never fulfilled these requirements. That is the reason you were not allowed in the tournament. Dutch: And did the midget and the girl with the blonde hair to my right fulfill these requirements. Jerry Jarrett: If you are referring to Superstar Bill Dundee and Steve Keirn…. No, they did not fulfill all of the requirements as they were not currently wrestling together but they were given an exception as they were past Southern Tag Team Champions. This was also the reason why the Assassins were allowed into the tournament as they were 4-time Southern Tag Team Champions. Now you two… please hand me those… Austin Idol: Man, Jarrett, you must have taken more shots to the head then I thought. Were Dutch Mantell and I not the Continental World Tag Team Champions on two separate occasions. This is the actual world titles previously recognized by Memphis as the real World Champions! Is this not the same exception you gave to Dundee and Keirn and the Assassins? You can almost see the sails come out of Jarrett as his shoulders suddenly slump and his face goes from one of excitement as he was about to hand the titles to Dundee and Keirn to one of depression as he realizes that he has been had and there is nothing he can do about taking the titles from The Universal Heartthrob and Dirty Dutch. He quickly composes himself and then lets Dundee and Keirn know that they will get the first Southern Tag Team shot and that match will take place this Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum. Nobody is really happy with the outcome of this situation as Lance tries to refocus the show. Lance tries to get the show back on track but you can even see his frustration that Dutch and Idol are still going to be the champion. Lance: Well, that we be a great match. We will have more on Monday night’s card a little later but let me tell you about our show here tonight. Shane Douglas will be taking Devil #1. Exotic Adrian Street will be in action against “No Class” Donny Bass. Dick Slater & Jos Leduc will be taking on Trent Knight and Cougar Jay. Newcomer Mando Guerrero from the legendary Guerrero family will be making his in-ring debut here in Championship Wrestling and in our main event it will be “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel taking on Too Cold Scorpio. That and a whole lot more. It looks like the timekeeper is ready to go so let’s get the action started. MATCH #1 “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs Devil #1 with Ron Wright While Douglas controlled almost all of the match, Ron Wright, the leader of the Christian Wrestler’s Association, had a plan. At one point, Devil #1 was out on the floor trying to recover. The ref prevented The Franchise from going out to continue the assault. This is when Ron Wright ordered Devil #2 back into the ring. As Douglas came over to meet who he thought was the battered Devil #1, he was ambushed by a fresh Devil #2 who ended up shocking Douglas with a roll up, grab of the tights and feet on the ropes for the pin. The crowd had seen the entire thing and was screaming at the ref. Suddenly, Jeff Jarrett appears and demonstratively explains what happened. Ron Wright was screaming from his wheelchair that JJ was lying. The ref went over to talk to Ron Wright and this is when he saw the battered Devil #1 lying on the ground, half under the ring. He quickly reversed his decision and ordered the match to continue. Douglas quickly tossed Devil #2 out of the ring and JJ tossed Devil #1 into the ring. WHAM… Belly to Belly Suplex by Douglas and the ref makes the 3-count. The crowd is all smiles now as we head to break. Commercials/Promos for upcoming show on Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum When we come out of break, Jeff Jarrett and Shane Douglas are Lance: Well Shane, I bet your happy Jeff was there watching your match. Shane Douglas: You got that right Lance. Jeff and I have seen a lot of nonsense going on around here lately and we’ve decided to watch each other’s backs. So people like Ron Wright, Tommy Rich, Buddy Landel and most of all Dirty Dutch Mantell… you better think twice before coming after me or Jeff. Lance Russell: That sounds like a good plan to me. Now I just heard that it will be you and Jeff against Devil’s Duo this Monday night at the Coliseum. Jeff Jarrett: Sounds good to me. I’m always excited to show these fans what I got and now, with Shane in my corner, Ron Wright better watch his step… or watch his roll I guess I should stay. Devils, you better be ready for the fight of your life. Next out to the podium is “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel who kind of shoos Douglas and Jarrett away even though they had already left the podium. Lance: Well Buddy… not a familiar position for you to be out here without a title belt as Terry Gordy is now the Southern Heavyweight Champion. Buddy Landel: The only reason Terry Gordy is the champion is because that jealous, no talent Dick Slater interfered in my match. Lance Russell: Now that is not exactly true. Buddy Landel: Nobody asked you Pencil Neck. As I was about to say, I was born and breed to be a champion. I am the Nature Boy…Now this Monday night, I will prove to everyone that Ugly Bird Terry Gordy is no match for me. I will get my Southern Title back and then I will deal with Dirty and Smelly Dick Slater. Lance Russell: We’ll just have to wait until Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum to see about that. That is if you even get to Monday night as you have a big match with Too Cold Scorpio in just a little while. Buddy Landel just shakes his head and walks off as if Lance had insulted him by saying that a match with Too Cold Scorpio would be a tough contest. MATCH #2 Exotic Adrian Street with Miss Linda vs “No Class” Donny Bass Bass comes to the ring antagonizing the fans every step of the way. As Adrian and Miss. Linda prance their way to the ring, you can just see Don Bass laughing at the Exotic One. Bass tries, to no avail, to intimidate Street by getting right in his face but this only leads to a kiss on the check by Street. Now enraged, Bass rushes in but just gets tied into knots by Street and this is basically how the entire match goes until …. With Street locking in the sleeper, Rip Rogers and Terri come to the ring and surround Ms. Linda. The Exotic one sees none of this as his back is to this situation. Ms. Linda notices Rip first as he is closing in on her from the right. She begins to back peddle until she crashes right into a brick wall….Terri Powers! Terri quickly lifts Ms. Linda over her knee and begins to spank her as Ms. Linda is flailing all around. Rip, to the shock of Lance, gives a few spanks of his own. Suddenly, Exotic Adrian turns and sees what is going on and he let’s go of Don Bass and rushes after Rip and Terri. Rip and Terri see him coming and head for the hills. Exotic Adrian rushes after them as the ref has no choice but to complete the 10 count and award Don Bass the win. Exotic Adrian, who did not catch Ms. Linda’s assaulters, comes to console an obviously distraught valet. Lance leaves the podium and goes over to the situation. Lance: Adrian, I know you are angry right now but Adrian: I’ve been European champion on 4 occasions, held titles in 37 countries and wrestled on every continent in the world and I have never come across such a disrespectful duo as Rip Rogers and Terri Powers. Now, you might not know this Lance, but Ms. Linda is a great wrestler in her own right but tonight she, as you say here in America, was “Pearl Harbored.” I know Ms. Linda and she is more angry then me and what happened tonight. So, how about this… Monday night in the Mid-South Coliseum we have ourselves a little intergender match to see who is the real beautiful couple and who truly are the better wrestlers. Lance Russell: Well there you have it folks… a challenge has been handed down for this Monday night. As Exotic Adrian walks off we can here Dutch muttering to himself that he doesn’t think there is even a contest to see who the beautiful couple is. Commercials/Promos for upcoming show on Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum When we come out of break, the new Southern Heavyweight Champion, Terry Gordy, is at the podium. Lance Russell: Congratulations Terry on becoming the new Southern Heavyweight Champion. Terry Gordy: Thank you Lance but it really comes as no surprise. I’ve been saying for weeks that there isn’t a man alive that can beat me one on one especially not the spoiled, silver-spoon in his mouth Buddy Land…del. I heard him out here earlier saying the only reason he lost to me was because of Dick Slater. I don’t think so. The reason he lost is a nearly slammed his sorry excuse of a wrestler through the mat. He’s lucky to be walking right now. Not sure he will be so lucky after Monday. Match #3 “The Rebel” Dick Slater & “The Canadian Lumberjack” Jos Leduc destroy Trent Knight & Cougar Jay with the end coming by way of the bearhug by Leduc. A quick promo by Dick Slater about how it is finally time that Tommy Rich has stopped hiding and that he can’t wait for Monday night to get his ounce of flesh for all that Wildfire has put him through in the last year. Commercials/Promos for upcoming show on Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum Before our next match, Mando Guerrero is at the podium with Lance Russell. Lance Russell: Welcome to Championship Wrestling Mando. You and your family are legendary in this sport. Mando Guerrero: (comes out to Mexican mariachi music, wearing a sombrero, poncho slung over his shoulder, and a double string of bullets acting as a vest. Joining Mando is a huge man wearing a black mask who is actually Cannonball Grizzly) Hola Lance… you are one of my favorite people!! How do you like this guy with me. He is Dr. D… Dr. Diobolico. Just look at the size of him. He, like all people is a real man. Not the like the boys here in Tennessee. He is vicious. He is evil. … Diabolic as you say in Engles. Let me tell you something… we are here for one reason and one reason only. I am Mexico’s avenging angel, and I am going to avenge all the bad things the people of Tennessee tried to do to my people in Mexico. Wherever we go, you people will remember this Mexican!! I come from a long, long line of fighting greats. I am a direct descendent of Poncho Villa. The Guererros have the background. We have the skill. We have desire. Oh and let’s not forget… I have Dr. Diobolico to take care of anything I need done. Together we are going to take your bubble gum wanna be wrestlers and do as we please with them. Gutter rats like Bill Dundee will wish he never saw these Mexicans arrive. Some can be said for the other rats of Tennessee, Jeff and Jerry Jarrett. Lance Russell: Okay, that’ll be enough of that. Mando, I believe you have a match right now. Dutch Mantell: Well, it’s about time we got some class and culture around here. Mando is a real breath of fresh air around here. Lance Russell: Oh yea… real class and culture there. You really are blind aren’t you Dutch. Match #4 Mando Guerrero with Dr. Diabolico defeats Jimmy Del Ray with the Guerrero Special Submission. After the bout Dr. D adds in a few punches of his own before tossing Del Ray to the arena floor. Commercials/Promos for upcoming show on Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum MAIN EVENT MATCH The Nature Boy Buddy Landel defeats Too Cold Scorpio with the Figure 4 after a tough match. Lance: Now let’s remember that big night coming up on Monday the Mid-South Coliseum. Two big title matches plus 5 other huge bouts. It’s going to be one heck of a show. Until next time, Bye Bye ya’ll. MID-SOUTH COLISEUM CARD FOR MONDAY JULY 24, 1988 Mando Guerrero vs Cougar Jay Too Cold Scorpio vs Big Money Marcus Dirty White Boy with Ron Wright vs Sweet Brown Sugar Jeff Jarrett & Shane Douglas vs Devil’s Duo with Ron Wright Grudge Match “The Rebel” Dick Slater vs Tommy “Wildfire” Rich Southern Tag Team Title Match Dutch Mantell & Austin Idol © vs Superstar Bill Dundee & Steve Keirn Southern Heavyweight Title Match “Freebird” Terry Gordy © vs “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel
  23. Great job keeping all the big names in some sort of pecking order. Can't wait to see who eventually rises to the top between Steamboat, Flair and Savage.
  24. Memphis adds Teijho Khan and Mando Guerrero and releases Mr. Pogo and Kendo Nagasaki.
  25. Memphis adds Jesse Barr and releases Moondog Splat
