1989 Rookie List
With 1989 draft picks being traded, I thought I would get the draft order set. I used a number generator to pick the order. This draft is a snake draft. If anyone new joins between now and the draft, they will be added to the end of round 2. The draft will begin the week of Thanksgiving. The order is: 1. Music City: (Traded to WCW) 2. AWA: (Traded to WWF) (Traded to WCW) 3. WCW: (Traded to IPW) 4. WWF 5. Memphis: (Traded to WCW) 6. Pacific 7. NWA (Traded to WWF) This makes the order in round #2 1. NWA (Traded to WWF) (Traded to PCW) 2. Pacific 3. Memphis: (Traded to WWF) (Traded to WCW) (Traded to PCW) 4. WWF (traded to WCW) 5. WCW 6. AWA 7. Music City ROUND 3 1. Music City 2. AWA: 3. WCW 4. WWF 5. Memphis 6. Pacific 7. NWA ROUND 4 1. NWA 2. Pacific 3. Memphis 4. WWF 5. WCW 6. AWA 7. Music City

AWA Major League Wrestling
First to the Hammond center... I have never seen a Loser Leave Town Match with a mystery partner. Those matches are usually for big blow offs between two stars but it works so well here as Gagne is the real opponent.... Anything to hurt Gagne would be seen as a big deal. Very creative. Tough night for the fan favorites with Atlas over Strong and Dream Machine over Rich. This is a great way to sell tickets in my opinion as we always want to see our favorites overcome the enemies. I think most people always want to see the underdog. Colon vs Buzz Sawyer.... perfectly natural. Thanks for helping out WCCW with Chris Adams and you deserve some extra credit for the quick and painless revamping of some big angles in AWA. Now on to Alaska... Such an awesome venue. Great choice. I got the feeling that this event was used to change up some angles but not to really change the course of the AWA. Very smart considering this was the first time in Alaska and you might want to reward more loyal fans like Minnesota with major changes like a new AWA champ or something. Looking forward to seeing Idol vs Poffo... Old vs New.... Charisma vs Charisma .... Interesting match-up. I am interested to see what is next for Larry Z. I know I have said it before but I hated him in real life but since writing for him and reading your storylines, I can't get enough. Great build up to the Kevin Kelly/DJ split. Another great mid-card feud is born. The Ultimate Warrior Era has begun! Awesome week. I hope Alaska becomes a yearly thing.

World Championship Wrestling
I thought this show had something for everyone. The traditional, old time fans got a great Dusty promo. The new Mexican invasions is totally different and exciting to see Gary Hart/ Muta is an interesting competition. and then the big ones- Steamboat/Savage and the Rockers/Twin Towers-- Awesome matches. Steamboat and Savage is classic superstar vs superstar. The tag battle is such a contrast in styles that it is very interesting. Looking forward to this huge card.

International Pro Wrestling
Very fun half hour. I know I keep saying this but this is exactly how I picture a small promotion in Arkansas. Really, really good. I think with a roster size like you have, going with the Best of 7 is a great idea. It allows you to keep this angle going and people not upset that they are seeing the same match over and over again. Now Brandi Mae seems like the type of girl these fans can relate to!!!! Dark Journey in the stables... nice segment.

Memphis Wrestling
CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #9: May 19, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. Next we see a video collage of highlights that saw Tommy “Wildfire” Rich help “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel defeat “The Rebel” Dick Slater to win the Southern Heavyweight Title! (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord, Dutch Mantell’s bodyguard. Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Lance Rusell alongside Dirty Dutch Mantell. Oh my gosh, we’re ready to fire off another great week of championship wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. Dutch, I’ve got to ask you your thoughts on the Southern Heavyweight Title Tournament from last week at the Mid-South Coliseum. I mean you weren’t even in the tournament, but you played a major role in the outcome of not one but two matches! Dutch Mantell: Lance, I think I proved I deserved to be in that tournament. Both Superstar Bill Dumdee and Shane “The Psychotic” got exactly what they deserved. Lance Russell: Come on Dutch. That’s a bunch of sour grapes and you know it. You had your shot at getting into that tournament, but you couldn’t beat Bill Dundee and I heard that Jerry Jarrett isn’t to happy about what went on in the Mid-South Coliseum and he will be here a little later on to discuss it. Dutch: I’m shaking in my boots! Now Jerry Jarrett isn’t happy because me and Tommy Rich knew the fix was in and we were just standing up for what is right. Jerry Jarrett had no right hand picking the next Southern Heavyweight Champion. You talk about wrestling like it used to be. Well Jarrett …. That’s how Tommy and I did it back in the day. Lance Russell: At least you admit you are a cheater… Any who, fans we got a great show instore for you today. First, we have “Hustler” Rip Rogers in action as he takes on newcomer Norman Smiley. Jeff Jarrett is back and he will face The Red Shadow. The Dirty White Boy with Ron Wright faces “White Lightening” Tim Horner. We will here from The Rebel Dick Slater. The Nature Boy Buddy Landel will be here and listen to this main event…. It will be Superstar Bill Dundee and “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs Jeff Gaylord and “Dirty” Dutch Mantell. Dutch: What… no… what! Nobody told me that I’m wrestling tonight. I’m here to do my job trying to carry this show. Somebody made a mistake. I’m not going to do it. I just not going to do it. Lance Russell: Don’t kill the messenger Dutch. I just read the matches off this sheet. Don’t worry. Jerry Jarrett will be here next segment and we’ll get it all figured out. Let’s get to the ring for our first match. (As the camera turns toward the ring, we can all hear Dutch muttering to himself about the disrespect around this place. MATCH #1 Rip Rogers with Terry Power defeats Norman Smiley with the Ripperplex. Lance Russell: Rip, I must ask you… is this ummm, your new manager. Rip Rogers: Lance, this lady here is my new valet, and I will let her explain to you why I chose her services over the thousands and thousands of other women who wanted the job. Terry, wearing a long dark coat steps towards Lance an takes over the interview… Terry Power: (rubbing the hair on Lance’s head) Lance, I never knew just how beautiful you eyes are. God, I didn’t know they made announcers like you. Lance Rusell: Come on… what are you doing? Terry Power: Lance… You are worth waiting for. What are you doing later? Lance Russell: Is this some kind of joke? Terry Power: (Rubbing Lance’s jacket and his chest) Lance, I think you are getting the idea why I am the number one valet in all of wrestling and why Rip jumped at the chance to have my services. Lance is totally blushing now while the camera catches Rip Rogers laughing… Terry Power: Lance, you’re a smart man. You know a lot of things, but I know your mother never ever, ever showed you anything like this. Terry turns her back to the crowd and the TV camera and slowly opens her jacket…. All we see is a bare back. Lance: (stuttering) Oh, oh, uh this is a family show. Come on now. Rip Rogers: And that is why Terry is my valet! Dutch Mantell: I think the cat’s got Lance’s tongue. Let’s go to break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Next to the podium is Jerry Jarrett where he has a huge announcement on the Southern Heavyweight Tournament. Lance Russell: Jerry, I must ask your thoughts on the Southern Heavyweight Tournament and all of the chaos. Dutch Mantell: Sorry, I must interrupt. The chaos you’re talking about was caused by allowing such lunatics as Shane Douglas into the tournament t and now you or some other suit around here comes up with the smart idea to have me and Jeff face Superstar Bill Dumbdee and the Shane “The Crazy.” Jerry Jarrett: Dutch, you are the last person we want to hear from right now. You are lucky you have not been heavily fined and suspended. Dutch Mantell: Suspended… that would be the easy way out instead of facing that escapee from the asylum. Jerry Jarrett: Funny you say that as that is exactly what Shane Douglas said when I told him that you were going to be suspended for what you did at the Mid-South Coliseum. He said he would rather beat you to within an inch of your life than have you suspended. Now as far as what Tommy Rich did at the Mid-South Coliseum… unfortunately that is out of my control. He currently is not a wrestler under contract with Championship Wrestling so I have little recourse as to his actions. I did turn the case over to the authorities where they are deciding exactly what charges to file. I have faith that the law will do its job here. Lance, I would like to now look towards the future and move on from the Southern Heavyweight tournament. We have signed a monthly contract with the Mid-South Coliseum. I will have more on next week, but I will tell you in two months in mid-July, we will crown new Southern tag team champions. In order for a team to be entered in that tournament, they will need to have be currently wrestling someplace in the world as a tag team. We do not just want any two wrestlers to join up for the tournament. Tag teams, please send your application and a video to our offices for us to evaluate. Lance Russell: Thank you Jerry for that. I know all the fans will be looking forward to all the great action back in the Mid-South Coliseum. Dutch Mantell: Oh yea Jerry. Thanks for nothing. Lance Russell: Oh come on now. Jeff Jarrett: What’s ridiculous is that you call yourself a professional wrestler but needed a bodyguard because you were so afraid of Shane Douglas. Lance Russell: Just stop it already Dutch. You never quit. Can we please get to our next match. MATCH #2 Jeff Jarrett defeats The Red Shadow with the Figure Four Leglock Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before our next match, “The Nature Boy” struts out to the podium. Lance Russell: Yes sir folks. I’ve got with me one of those faces that doesn’t really need any introduction, but I will ….the new Southern Heavyweight Champion, “the Nature Boy” Buddy Landel. Now nobody has ever questioned your talent but some are saying your arrogance is going to get in the way of a long title run. Buddy Landell: Well, let me tell you one thing. In this sport of professional wrestling, I’ve only really been to one place and that’s the top of the mountain! Anybody here in Championship Wrestling who wants a shot at this title got a problem … and that problem is ME! Now I’m not saying that I the toughest man in the world. I am not the most muscular wrestler in the business. Heck, I’m not even the greatest in-ring technician. But what I am is one cocky SOB. I tell you why your old lady spent the night with me instead of you. And why you’re thinking about it, I poke your eyes out and blow through you like a windchime. I’ve got this belt and there aint nothing any of you people can do about it. Lance Russell: What about the folks that say without Tommy Rich, you wouldn’t be the Southern Heavyweight Champion. Buddy Landell: And what about the folks that say if Dick Slater wasn’t Dirty Dick Slater, Tommy Rich would still be the AWA World Champion. Dutch Mantell: He got you there Lance. Dick Slater is as dirty as pigpen from Peanuts. Lance Russell: Why is everyone against me tonight. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH #3 “The Dirty White Boy” with Ron Wright defeats “White Lightening” Tim Horner with the Bucksnort Blaster (Powerslam) This happened after a chaotic moment out of the ring floor when Ron Wright seemed to accidently fall out of his wheelchair onto Tim Horner. Horner came up bleeding as Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell argued whether or not Wright used his chisel on Horner. After the pin, Dutch and the Dirty White Boy rushed out to help Wright back into his wheelchair as the duo headed to the podium Lance Russell: Ron, I’ve gotta to ask ya… was that the chisel I saw. Ron Wright: Here we go again. A poor crippled man like myself falls out of his wheelchair and you a go accusing me of cheatin. I’ve said it before. I’m a Christian man. My wrestlers are Christians. We get by on hard work. You don’t go around asking Tim Horner about all the closed fists he throws in a match. You didn’t go asking “Dirty” Dick Slater how he got to the finals of the Southern Heavyweight Tournament. But me… a man who needs a new hip and two new knees is the one you says is cheating. Dutch Mantell: Ron, I don’t know what to say about my partner. He is just so disrespectful. After all you’ve done for this sport. I mean come on Lance. Ron Wright: Thank you for that Dutch and thanks for helping me back in my chair. Now fans, please don’t forget to send in your donations to the Ron Wright fund. As soon as I get out of this chair, I can really help the Christian Wrestler’s Association rise up and get rid of all that is wring here in Championship Wrestling. I also want everyone to know that I have signed a tag team and we are set on winning that tag team tournament. Lance Russell: And who is this team? Ron Wright: There you go again Lance. Wantin me to tell you all about my team before any other team got involved. That a way they can start the scouting process on us but we know nothing about them. I’m a manager Lance. It is my job to help my team not hurt them. I mean come on Lance, be fair. I thought you were a Christian like me but after what I saw before… you oogling at that nice young girl early in the show. I got my doubts. Lance Russell: Oh brother when is this going to end … let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before we get to our main event match, we have a pre-recorded interview with “The Rebel” Dick Slater Dick Slater: (In a pair of jeans, black shirt and brown leather jacket) Tommy Rich… whereever you are… listen up and I hope you listen well! I am praying that whatever rock you are under right now that you got a tv and you can hear each and every word I have to say. Tommy… you may be able to get me down. You may try to put me out of professional wrestling but ….. (Spit coming from Slater’s mouth) YOU BETER DO A BLANKITY BLANKING JOB OF DOING IT! First of all, I don’t like nobody playing with my income and that is exactly what you did when you robbed me of both the AWA World Title and now the Southern Heavyweight Title. Second of all, I’ve always walked tall. Every time I put on a pair of boots and got in that wrestling ring, it’s always been 100%. I don’t take nothing for granted and I don’t take short cuts…. And by hell or high water, I am going to make you pay. Now I know Jerry Jarrett has said that you are not apart of Championship Wrestling at the moment so he can’t put us in a match, but if you ever have the guts… come and meet me in the parking lot… meet me in the ally or anywhere of your choosing and I will destroy you…. Now, I know that you are going to take some time to think this over and I will give you two weeks… two weeks and if I don’t hear from you, I know a few people who can and will find you. Trust me… these are people you don’t what looking for you. Lance Russell: Now, now Dick. I think your crossing a line here. Dick Slater: Two weeks Tommy Rich…. 2 weeks. You can almost here the fans gasp at the lengths that Slater is willing to go to get even with Tommy Rich. Lance Rusell is shaking his head as we go to the ring for out main event. MAIN EVENT MATCH The Superstar Bill Dundee & “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs “Dirty” Dutch Mantell & Jeff Gaylord The match starts with Dutch and Gaylord coming to the ring to a chorus of boos. Dutch seems oblivious to it all as he is talking to Jeff. He is trying to convince Gaylord of a plan which his bodyguard doesn’t seem to keen on but eventually gives the approving head nod as he understands that Dutch is the one who pays his bills. Next, from the very first chord of TNT by AC/DC, the fans are up cheering for Douglas and Dundee. Douglas is so fired up that he pays them no mind and rushes his opponents before the match. Dutch jumps out of the ring and demands order from the ref. When we finally do get it, Dutch points to the ring and orders Jeff Gaylord to start the match. The strategy for the heels is clear. Dutch is going to completely stay out of the match no matter what. Douglas and Dundee work over Gaylord but every chance they get, they call for Dutch who never tags in. Even when the fan favorites toss Gaylord into the corner trying to toss him into Dutch, Mantell simply jumps to the arena floor. It is obvious that the 2-1 match has taken its toll on Gaylord but they don’t want the pin. They want Dutch. The Franchise tries one more time but again as Douglas begins to whip Gaylord to the corner, Dutch jumps to the floor. This time Douglas holds on to Gaylord as Dutch turns to the crowd and points to his head like he is just to smart. As he sits down on the ring apron, still facing the crowd, Douglas drags Gaylord over and slams him into Dutch. The ref signals the tag and Dutch is in shock… He refuses to get in and the ref begins to count. As he gets to 7, Dutch decides to enter the ring where he is greeted harshly by Douglas. The problem was that Dutch tags in Gaylord right away! Douglas is fuming but goes right back on the offense. As the attack goes on, Dutch, is seen by the fans to be contemplating something. Without anyone but the ref seeing, Dutch quickly tags himself in and stealthily comes in to the ring. Lance Russell: Watch out Shane! Dirty Dutch has rolled up a surprised Douglas and grabs the tights. 1…2…3! Lance Russell: Oh my. Folks I don’t believe what I just say. My partner, Dirty Dutch… he always has a plan. Make sure to join us next week as we get an update on the Mid-South Tag Team Tournament and maybe, just maybe we will hear from Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. I also heard a big rumor that Championship Wrestling has signed a big-time superstar who will be action next week! Be there if you can. Until next time… Bye Bye Everybody.

Mid-South Wrestling Revolution
Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #18: May 13, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for turning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. Before we get to tonight’s action, we must first fill you in on some of the major events that happened last Saturday night at the Lakefront Arena. To do that best, let’s bring in the Mid-South President, Ernie Ladd. Ernie Ladd: Thank you Gordon. Last Saturday night was another huge success for Mid-South Wrestling but there are a few things that need to be discussed as we go forward. First, we do have new Mid-South Tag Team Champions. The Barbarians defeated Hercules Hernandez and Scott Steiner in a thrilling match. Gordon Solie: Let me interrupt if I may. This defeat may have had something to do with Scott Steiner being involved in a brawl before the match started as he tried to help his brother Rick who was being attacked by Eddie Gilbert and, as far as I could tell, two new members of Hot Stuff Incorporated. Ernie Ladd: You bring up a good point and I would like to hear from Eddie Gilbert later in the show. As far as Hercules Hernandez is concerned, he understands how important family is for Scott Steiner and he has decided to give Scott some time to deal with this. Hercules thought it would be best for all if he moved on from Mid-South for a while. (a groan from the fans) Gordon Solie: Truly a huge loss for Mid-South. Ernie Ladd: That’s for sure Gordon but that is not the only loss. For those of you at Lakefront Arena, you saw one of the greatest steel cage matches in wrestling history as the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion, Ted Dibiase survived against Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Gordon Solie: Again, it seemed like Dibiase was saved by his bodyguard, Alofa. Ernie Ladd: Another good point and I had a long discussion with both Jake and his manager Paul Ellering about that and, while I felt bad about how the match ended, I did point out to Jake and Paul that this was a no disqualification match and there was nothing I could do about it. (Again the fans express their displeasure) Gordon Solie: I do see that Jake is not on today’s card. Ernie Ladd: Yes, unfortunately, neither Jake nor Paul Ellering have been seen since that night in New Orleans. They did not show up for their matches all week. It seems like Jake and Paul have decided to move on from Mid-South. (The fans are now fuming) Gordon Solie: I must say Mr. Ladd, this has been a tough week for the fans of Mid-South. Suddenly Hacksaw Butch Reed comes out to the podium…(he is able to calm the fans just be his appearance) Gordon Solie: Hacksaw, is there something we can do for you. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Gordon there is nothing you can do for me. Ernie Ladd is the one I need to speak to…. Ernie Ladd, I know you and I have had some real problems in the past but lately we’ve been on the same page…. For the second straight time, Snowman has cost me the Mid-South Title. I want him in the ring…. No, I need him in the ring at the next Lakefront Arena event. He’s been talking for weeks about not only me but you also. Calling us Uncle Tom’s. Interfering in my matches … getting taking out by security. If it’s a match with me that he wants… let’s get it on brother! Ernie Ladd: While I feel that giving Snowman a big match before he has proven himself here in Mid-South is a mistake, I’m going to grant your match. If Snowman wants to be a part of Mid-South, he will meet you in Lakefront Arena on June 3rd. Gordon Solie: Well there you have it folks. Hacksaw Butch Reed vs the Snowman looks like the first big match signed for the return to the Lakefront Arena. As for tonight’s show, we have got a great event in store for you. First up will be newcomers Jack Victory and “Hollywood” John Tatum taking on Cougar Jay and Rocky Duke. Vader will be taking on high-flyer Shaun Simpson. We will hear from the Texas Outlaws, Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen. Sweet Brown Sugar will bring his high energy to the ring as he faces Larry Cheatum. Scott Steiner will be making his singles debut here tonight as he faces the very tough Grappler and in the main event it will be Rick Steiner putting his TV title on the line against the big 400 pound bodyguard of Ted Dibiase, Alofa. That and much more. It looks like the timekeeper is ready to go. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH #1: John Tatum & Jack Victory with Missy Hyatt defeat Cougar Jay & Rocky Duke as Tatum connected with a Superkick on Jay. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt are with Gordon Solie along with Jack Victory and John Tatum. Just like when Rick Steiner was part of Hot Stuff Inc., Jack Victory and John Tatum didn’t really participate in the interview except to say how they were willing to do whatever Missy and Eddie said. Gordon Solie: Eddie, I’ve got to ask… What happened last week at Lakefront Arena between you and Rick Steiner. Eddie Gilbert: What happened Gordon? I’ll tell you what happened. That ingrate, Rick Steiner, got the beating of his life. Missy and I tutored him. We trained him. We made him what he is today and what did he do… he stabbed us in the back. Missy Hyatt: That’s right Eddie. He used us and now it is our turn to get even. People are lining up in this business to get our help. Everyone wants to be a part of Hot Stuff Incorporated and Jack Victory and Hollywood John Tatum… you two are the winners. You two are the men we’ve chosen to help us rid Mid-South Wrestling of Rick Steiner and if his obnoxious brother Scott wants to get involved, we got no problem dealing with him also. Gordon Solie: Fair enough. Let’s get back to the action. MATCH #2 Vader with Woman defeats Shaun Simpson as he caught Simpson coming off the top rope and Vader turned it into a powerslam. Post-match interview with Vader and Woman along with the Mid-South Champion, Lex Luger Gordon Solie: I must say Vader, things didn’t end so well for you in your match against Manny Fernandez. Woman, it seems like you hit the wrong man when you swung that chair. Woman: Gordan baaabby, Do I look like the type of person whoever does something by accident? Everything I do, I do for a reason. My job is to motivate my men… to make them the best they can be. Look at Lex here, The Total Package has listened to what I’ve had to say and he is the Mid-South Champion. Vader… he seems to Vader: What … (Vader steps towards Woman) Are you saying you hit me with a chair on purpose. Woman: That is exactly what I’m saying. It was a test… A test you failed miserably. I thought you had something. I thought you had turned a corner but one hit with a chair by little ol’ me and you crumbled like the weakling you are. Vader steps even closer to Woman… WHAM… Luger attacks from behind and down goes Vader. Vader takes a nasty beating at the hands of the champion, and nobody comes to his aid. Gordon Solie: Folks, I can’t believe what I just saw. Woman and Lex Luger have turned on Vader and the big man is down. We really need to get some help out here. Please, if there is a medic in the back…. Uhmm, We got to go to break. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Gordon seems a little shaken at the violence of what we just saw but he composes himself to welcome in the Texas Outlaws. Gordon Solie: Stan Hansen … Dick Murdoch… you two have been on a roll over the last month. Folks all across the great state of Louisiana have been talking about you guys. Dick Murdoch: That’s right Gordon. There is no stopping Stan and myself. You got that Sheik. There’s no stopping us. Your Barbarians might be the champions but that is only until you step foot in that ring with us. Stan Hansen: I don’t care if its Houma. I don’t care if it’s in Baton Rouge. I don’t care if it’s the Louisiana swamps. Nord and Konga were coming from you. Gordon Solie: Well it looks like the Texas Outlaws have thrown out a challenge to the new Mid-South tag team champions, The Barbarians. We will be speaking to their manager, Sheik Adnan Al Kassie a little later in the show to get his thoughts on that match. Let’s head back to the ring. MATCH #3 Sweet Brown Sugar defeats Larry Cheatum with a Top Rope Missile Dropkick COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Dr. Death is at the podium. Gordon Solie: Dr. Death, we’ve haven’t seen you in a couple of weeks. I heard you were wrestling over in Japan. Tell us, what was that like. Dr. Death: Gordon… Japan is awesome. Wrestling is booming all over the county. The fans are second only to the fans here in Mid-South. But now I’m home and it seems like things have changed here a bit. Guys have been coming up to me since I got back. Telling me that something must be done about Ted Dibiase. They say he is more put of control then ever. He is just using money to buy protection. Saving his title without having to do the work. Well, Dibiase… you and I go way back. We were partners. We were opponents. I know more about you then any man here in Mid-South and I promise to put an end to your way of wrestling. Buying wins is over. I can’t be bought… and bad news for you… I can’t be beat! Dibiase, your time as Louisiana Champion is coming to an end. Gordon Solie: Well folks, I for one and real glad Dr. Death is back. Not so sure Mr. Dibiase feels the same way. Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #4 Scott Steiner defeats The Grappler in a tough match as Steiner hit a big gut wrench suplex followed by a side slam. After the match, Scott Steiner headed to the podium. Gordon Solie: Scott… tough week. First you lose the tag titles and then you lose your partner, Hercules Hernandez. I want to bring everyone back to last week at the Lakefront Arena. VTR: We see the Barbarians defeat Scott Steiner and Hercules Hernandez and then we see an emotional, candid scene from the locker room where Steiner and Hercules embrace and Scott is emphatically apologizing to Hercules. Hercules is telling him not to worry and that he needs to focus on getting everything in his life in order. Scott Steiner: Gordon… Hercules is an awesome wrestler but more importantly, he is an awesome friend. He understands that Rick and I have some things to work out but that we are family. He understands that Rick will always come first as he is my family. He understands that I have been distracted of late. I feel really bad about not pulling my weight in our match against the Barbarians. I want to wish him the best. Gordon: Scott, I know this week has been tough on you. Good luck moving forward. Let’s take a break. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Main Event Match Mid-South TV Title Match Rick Steiner © vs Alofa with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie Let’s just get to the chaos at the end of this back and forth match. As Steiner looks like he is going for the belly to belly suplex, The Barbarians hit the ring and attack Rick. As you would expect, The Texas Outlaws were not far behind. A bit shocking to all, Ted Dibiase hits the ring and is actually fighting for his stablemates. The problem was that Scott Steiner and Dr. Death were headed to the ring and the brawl was on. For the first time in a long time in Mid-South, the fan favorites out number the heels. The Steiner Brothers, The Texas Outlaws and Dr. Death could not be stopped and it was surprising even to Gordon Solie that Sheik’s crew escaped without being really hurt. As Gordon signs off, the crowd is cheering on the babyfaces as they stand tall in the center of the ring. Gordon Solie: So long from the Pelican State. Dark Matches included: 1. The Texas Outlaws (Dick Murdoch & Stan Hansen) crushing two jobbers. 2. Manny Fernandez over The Red Shadow

While I did find your jobber names funny, I think these were much more what you would get in your territory. Nice job with that adjustment. I think we in Dawn of War use the Loser Leave Town Match a little much because of the nature of our rotating rosters. In history, it was used for the biggest of feuds. Jerry Lawler-Bill Dundee... Tommy Rich vs Ted Dibiase. I think your match borders on that as you have built these teams up and now they have a big following in your territory. Nice match. I hope to see Paul Jones regroup and come right back after the Renegades. I think Wahoo knows the end is near. He has struggled in his last few territories in our game. At least for him, the built in angle of Native American vs Native American will allow him some great promos about pride and history.

Very enjoyable show. -Good setup to get the belt off of Savage. The uncleared wrestler angle always works to keep your man strong. -I always thought Gary Hart was awesome on the mic. Good job capturing that. Through in an angry Muta and we have a nice angle going. - I think the contract signing has a place in wrestling and it is for the giant promotions looking to sell tickets to large arenas. That fits well with you and Den. Nice job. - Only is the sport of wrestling would the Rockers call out the TOWERS. Nice booking. For me the Dusty-Race angle is still my favorite. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. -

Big TV event with a Loser Leave Town Match... So long Mike George! Gagne continues to prove why I hate him!! Such a good job by you getting so much heat on Gagne. Crusher Blackwell and Kokina w/Abbuda Iaukea vs. El Canek and Nick Busick w/Mando Guerrero--- Awesome match for TV plus the wild ending allows all these endings to continue. Good job here. Another good job getting so much out of Austin Idol. He keeps going from one big angle to another and never skips a beat. I could see him doing this in real life. He was a great heel, babyface and was always good on the mic. Good work here! The slow rise of Warrior, from the weekly promos that he was coming to the match with the jobber allow his character to rise without having to get him in an angle right away. Very smart. It is funny how we all love our territories and venues, me included. That being said, I am really looking forward to your show in Alaska. I think we all do a pretty good job of writing for our fans. I try to do that Southern style in Mid-South and Memphis. Den has WWF down for sure. I think you and LowBlow are doing a great job with your roster and shows of growing towards that national audience, etc... LastStopTour has shown us any area can be very interesting if you write for your fans. I wonder what a promotion in Alaska would look like. Sounds like a fun project. Great work!

Savage and Steamboat + Koloff/Rhodes all on TV... can't wait to see what the next big event is going to be like. Interesting that Savage is out... can't wait to see what is next. And the other question is ... What is Slick up do. Don't trust a man named Slick. Hacksaw with Dusty seems so natural to me.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MID-SOUTH COLISEUM MAY 15 WINNER IS IN TONIGH’S SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT Too Cold Scorpio defeats Big Money Marcus with the Corkscrew Planch is a match that showcased a huge contrast in styles. SOUTHERN HEAVYWIEGHT TOURNAMENT: ROUND 1 “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel defeats “The Franchise” Shane Douglas in a wild finish that saw Dutch Mantell rush out before the match and crack Douglas with the bull rope from behind. The ref couldn’t do anything about it since it was before the match, and he called for the bell like normal. Douglas gave it his all, but the pre-match attack allowed Landel to get the win as he rolled up Douglas for the pinfall with a handful of tights. “The Superstar” Bill Dundee defeats “The Dirty White Boy” with Ron Wright with a piledriver as Dundee was able to survive all the questionable tactics by both The Dirty White Boy and Ron Wright. “The Hustler” Rip Rogers with Terry Powers defeated “The Fab One” Steve Keirn with a Ripperplex after Terry caught Keirn with a pretty good right hand while the ref admonished Rogers for illegal tactics in the corner. “The Rebel” Dick Slater defeats Too Cold Scorpio with a swinging neckbreaker in a match that proved Slater didn’t care if its friend or foe squared off against him. Too Cold continued to wow the crowd but at one point Slater locked in the Figure 4. While Too Cold Scorpio was able to eventually break the hold, he was tremendously slowed. SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel defeated “The Superstar” Bill Dundee by count-out as Dundee was clobbered with the ringbell in another attack by Dutch Mantell. This was all possible because Landel was being berated by the ref for a questionable low-blow. It seems like Dutch was fuming over not being included in the tournament so he was taking it out on those he thought were responsible… Shane Douglas and Bill Dundee. Things got real exciting after the match was over as Shane Douglas came out and FINALLY was able to catch Dutch and caught him with a belly to belly suplex. Dutch’s bodyguard, Jeff Gaylord, was next to the ring as he tried to save his boss but he to was meet with stiff resistance and was nailed with a piledriver by the Superstar! Buddy Landel was happy with his win and simply walked away from the chaos. “The Rebel” Dick Slater defeated “The Hustler” Rip Rogers with Terry Power. While the last match was pretty long and drawn out this one was much quicker. Rogers seemed to be really confident and was dancing around… shadow boxing and toying with Slater. It seemed like he was trying to impress Terry with his show, but Slater is not to be messed with…. WHAM… Huge right hand by Slater and down goes Rogers. You could hear Slater yelling “NOW WE GO TO SCHOOL” just loud enough that everyone was sure that Landel heard him in the locker room. Slater then locked in the Figure 4 even though Rogers was out cold. The ref quickly made the 3 count and Slater tossed Rogers away like a rag doll. Terry came in cautiously to help her man but she never took her eyes off of Slater in case he came back for more. STEEL CAGE MATCH Brad Armstrong, Tim Horner & Bob Armstrong vs Boris Zhukov, Soldat Ustinov and Shaska Whatley This rematch from a few weeks ago has an added measure of danger with the steel cage and all the wrestlers involved made sure to use it to abuse their opponents but, in the end, we get the same result as the crowd was ecstatic as The Bullet connected with the Georgia Jawjacker on Soldat for the win. SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT FINALS “The Rebel” Dick Slater vs “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel Awesome back and forth match. Slater used pure brawling tactics to gain his advantage while there was no level of cheating that Landel didn’t try. Back and forth we go. The wild ending saw Slater reverse Landel’s Figure 4 and really lock it in. Landel is somehow able to drag himself to the ropes to force the break, but he is in trouble. He uses the ropes to help him get to his feet but Slater stalks him like a dog. Landel demands the ref get Slater back as he is in the ropes. Slater just keeps coming. WHAM… Landel shoves Slater with everything he has. Slater collides with the ref and down goes the ref. The problem for Landel is that he has nothing left. Slater comes in with a big right hand and down goes Landel. The ref is still down. Slater just keeps on the attack. WHAM… Piledriver by Slater… ref is still down! The crowd starts screaming…. WHAM… from under the ring comes…. You won’t believe this…. It’s Tommy Rich and he has just clobbered Dick Slater in the head with a chair. Rich now drags Landel on top of Slater and goes and shakes the ref. As the ref stirs, Rich rolls out on the floor. The fans are screaming at the ref. 1…2…3! “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel is the new Southern Heavyweight Champion!!

LAKEFRONT ARENA MAY 6 Snowman is in the crowd and has a seat near the front row. Brad Rheingans defeats Shaun Simpson in a rare Mid-South babyface vs babyface match as he was able to stifle Simpson’s aerial tactics and countered it with a technical ground game and got the win after a big gutwrench suplex. Alofa (Ted Dibiase's 400 pound bodyguard) with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeats Mighty Goliath in a battle of the big man as Alofa got some help from Sheik and then connected with a middle rope Giant Splash for the win. The Texas Outlaws (Dick Murdick & Stan Hansen) defeated The Assassin & The Cuban Assassin in a nasty brawl that saw Murdoch hit the brainbuster on the Cuban Assassin. JYD defeated Moondog Moretti with the Big Thump “Ragging Bull” Manny Fernandez defeated Vader with Woman when Woman accidently hit him with a chair as she was swinging at Fernandez. Fernandez was then able to hit the Flying Burrito on Vader. Mid-South TV Title Match Rick Steiner © defeated Eddie Gilbert vs Missy Hyatt by DQ as Steiner was attacked by two blonde men who had not been seen in the Mid-South before. The match had been controlled for the most part by Steiner but due to the nonsense of Missy Hyatt, Gilbert did have his moments wrestling from the top. The two newcomers attacked as Steiner looked like he was getting ready to put Gilbert away. The 3-1, or 4-1 if you include Missy Hyatt and her nails and purse, was just too much for Rick. The crowd exploded as Scott Steiner rushed to his brother’s aid. While Scott did help to balance the numbers, eventually he takes a pretty good beating as Hot Stuff Inc leave the ring with smiles on their faces while two Steiner’s are down in the ring. Mid-South Tag Team Title Match Hercules Hernandez & Scott Steiner © vs The Barbarians (Konga & Nord) with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie The problem here is that in a match with such tough, strong men, everyone needs to be at their best or there is going to be a problem. With Scott Steiner just taking a beating from Hot Stuff Inc. he was not ready to face the Barbarians. While Hercules tried to make up for it and Scott gave everything he had, not being at 100%, cost the champs in the end as Nord hit the face first suplex on Scott and Konga made sure Hercules couldn’t make the save. For the first time in 6 months, we have New Tag Team Champions! Mid-South Title Match “The Total Package Lex Luger © with Woman vs Hacksaw Butch Reed While everyone is on the edge of their seats for this one, most still have one eye on Snowman. He continues to make a ruckus throughout the match especially when Hacksaw is wrestling from the top. At the later stages of the match, Hacksaw is in control and connects with big move after big move. While he can’t quite get the pin, he seems to be getting closer. In fact it was 2 ¾ count after he connected with the diving shoulder block. Reed is upset by the count and slams the mat. Snowman is up and screaming at Reed. He is so loud that Reed notices. Snowman starts coming over the steel divider that separates the fans from the ring floor. Security rush him. He is knocking them down one by one and heading to the ring. Finally, he is grabbed by about 8 men but they are still struggling. After a long struggle, it looks like his momentum has been stopped and he is being dragged backwards towards the exit. Reed seems to refocus… WHAM… To late! Running lariat by Lex Luger. 1…2…3!! Snowman for the second straight month at Lakefront Arena has stopped Reed from winning the Mid-South Title! STEEL CAGE MATCH LOUISIANA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Ted Dibiase © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Paul Ellering The rules in this No-DQ cage match are simple… you can win by pinfall, submission or escaping from the cage and reaching the arena floor. As for the match, this one has it all but let’s first give credit to the cage as it does its job. Alofa did accompany Dibiase to the ring but no matter how many times he tried to get into the cage to help his boss, the 400-pounder was kept at bay. The same thing can be said for both Sheik and Paul Ellering. As for the actual match, almost anything you can think of happened. We saw each wrestler showing a lot of color as they were tossed into the cage, had their faces grinded against the cage and were simple abused by the cage. We also saw some false finishes as Dibiase somehow powered out after a DDT and the Snake was able to reverse a nasty Figure 4 that left him hobbling for a few minutes. The Snake seemed on the verge of victory after a top rope elbow drop but Dibiase moved at the last moment and Snake was hurting. Dibiase then headed for the easy victory going through the door. Somehow Roberts grabbed caught Dibiase and the two struggled. Eventually, Roberts was able to slam the cage door off of Dibiase’s head. The ending was crazy as we saw a nasty double clothesline where both men struggled to get to their feet. Roberts was up first and went for the heroic path to victory as he tried to climb over the top of the cage and to the floor for the victory. Once again Dibiase caught the Snake and the two battled on the top rope. Eventually Snake won this segment and sent Dibiase crashing to the floor after he followed an eye rake with a knee to the gut. Snake continues with his climb to the top of the cage but you can tell by his slow pace, exactly how tired he is. Dibiase begins to stir on the floor and sees his only chance to save his title is to escape through the door. He begins his long crawl as the doorkeeper unlocks the cage. Snake is over the cage and begins his decent down the stage. Dibiase still has ½ of ring to get across… They each continue towards victory… Snake leaps from the cage towards the floor…. He is about to be the new champ…. WAIT… Alofa has caught Jake Roberts and is holding him from the floor. Snake is struggling to break free. Here comes Paul Ellering. He takes out the knees of Alofa but he still holds Snake. Dibiase rolls out the door to the floor…. Snake is dropped by Alofa and hits the floor… Depending on where you were sitting, you have a different opinion of who won the match. We need to wait for the ref’s decision. THE WINNER AND STILL LOUISIANA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION…. TED DIBIASE

I know I have said this before, but this is so realistic. You use the Power Half Hour to hype up the show and sell tickets. Gene use to do this also and it is just so fun to follow.
