  1. MIDSOUTH COLISEUM: FEB.24, 1990 ** Note: All wrestlers who wrestled tonight won matches on the 90 minute weekly TV show from this past Saturday except Ron Fuller who didn't wrestle. Opening Bout Jeff Gaylord defeats Dr. X (Moondog Rex in a mask) with a bearhug. Gaylord has not been seen in the Memphis area for about a year but the fans liked his size, energy and ability to go toe to toe with the big Dr. X. Interview with USWA World Champion, “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig Lance Russell: Curt, I would like to bring you back to a few weeks ago when you were wrestling “The King,” Jerry Lawler but that match was again ended with Randy Savage interfering and attacking Jerry Lawler. Curt Hennig: All I know is that I am “Mr. Perfect. I have wrestled your so called King 3 times in the last two months and each time I have left the match as the USWA World Champion…. Three matches and each time I was perfect! Even when Lawler was allowed to cheat and punch me as many times as he wanted… I left with this perfect title around my waist. Lance Russell: Well that may be true, but you can look at it this way… you have wrestled Jerry Lawler 3 times in the last two months and you have never beat him. Curt Hennig: This title around my waist says differently and I will tell you this… I am done wrestling Jerry Lawler. I have proven he can’t beat me. I am tired of running up here to Memphis to wrestle the same inferior wrestler. Next time I am here, tell Jerry Jarrett to find my some real competition. And with that Hennig walks off with his title over his shoulder. Match #2: Winning Team Gets Entry Into the USWA World Tag Team Tournament The Wild-eyed Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong & Tracy Smothers) defeat the Guerreros when Tracy held Hector up and Armstrong came off the top rope with a dropkick! The fans are quickly buying into this exciting team who come to the ring interacting with all the fans while wearing their Confederate uniforms and waving the Confederate flag! Match #3: “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff defeats Tim Horner with the Piledriver Paul Orndorff made his CWA debut this week on tv and quickly brought the heat down on himself. Not only was he his arrogant self, he proclaimed that his finisher, the piledriver, was second to none and that while others use the devastating move, including Jerry Lawler, it is not nearly effected as his. He also was quick to show off his physique, which he proclaimed at just one of the reasons he is Mr. Wonderful. As for the match, Horner gave a good effort, but he was outclassed. After a quick start for Horner, Mr. Wonderful took total control and toyed with Horner until he connected with the piledriver for the clean victory. Interview with former CWA tag team champion, “The Tennessee Studd” Robert Fuller Lance Russell: Robert, we all saw the devastating injury that Sid Eudy suffered last week and how the Freebirds capitalized on that to take back the CWA Tag Team Titles. What is next for you as your partner is obviously out of action for the foreseeable future. Robert Fuller: Lance, I’ve been around this business for a long time and seen everything there is to see. Injuries happen. This is a man’s game and sometimes things happen. As for me, I’ve decided to go back into singles competition. When I walk around here and see young, inexperienced losers like Jeff Jarrett walking around with the CWA title, I know that I will have gold around my waist real soon. I also want to let everyone know that I am too good to show my talent for free. I am not going to be wrestling on TV…. I know that all you women who go ga-ga over seeing this 6’9 inches of sex appeal are going to be upset by that but truth be told… I don’t care. I don’t care about any of those stupid fans who wish they were the Studd!... No listen up Jerry Jarrett…. If you dare… get me a match in the Midsouth Coliseum against that snot-nosed kid of yours so this organization can have a champion that it deservers! Match #4: Winning Team Gets Entry Into the USWA World Tag Team Tournament The Undertaker & The Soultaker with Paul Bearer defeat Ice Cold (Iceman Parsons & Too Cold Scorpio) as the Undertaker connected with his top-rope-walk elbow drop/Tombstone combo on Too Cold. Iceman and the Soultaker were battling on the outside when Too Cold came off the tope rope with a Moonsault but Undertaker lifted his right hand and caught Scorpio by the throat and then sat up and took Scorpio apart. After the match was over, Undertaker and Soultaker double teamed Iceman and put him down. Soultaker then performed that eerie ritual on Scorpio where he seems to take the heart and soul from his fallen opponent. The fans are still unsure of what to make of Paul Bearer’s team but Lance is sure that no one has seemed to slow then down at all. CWA Tri-State Title Match: “Dirty” Dutch Mantel © vs “The Superstar” Bill Dundee These two had a war of words this week on TV where Dundee was upset at Dutch for not being able to fight a clean fight anymore. Dundee pointed out that every match that Dutch is in, he either uses an illegal object or has the Dirty White Boy interfere to save his title. Superstar then said that Dutch isn’t the same man he was when Superstar was last in Memphis. Dundee said that the Dutch Mantel used to be able to fight his own fight and that he would use his fists to do it instead of a bull whip. Dundee ended his verbal attack by calling Dirty Dutch “over the hill.” Dutch was fuming and told Dundee he should mind his own business and that it’s not like Jerry Lawler hadn’t saved his butt hundreds of times. This all lead to a TV brawl that needed a commercial break to restore order. So here we are, a Tri-State Title Match. These two might be short in stature but don’t measure their fight in inches… this was a brawl! Unfortunately for Dundee, this match ended in a Double Count-out. This didn’t seem to stop the brawl and Eddie Marling came out a grabbed the house microphone and threated to suspend both Dutch and Dundee. This got their attention and gave Marlin the chance to announce that this feud needs a stipulation to where we get a winner… So next week right here in the Midsouth Coliseum, we will see a rematch between Dutch and Dundee for the Tri-State Title but it will be in a Falls-Count Everywhere Match! Semi-Main Event: Randy “Macho Man” Savage with Miss. Elizabeth vs Dustin Rhodes It was a this week’s tv show that Savage introduced Ms. Elizabeth to the Memphis fans. Many of the bigger wrestling fans in the area, are familiar with her as was Lance Russell who wanted to know where she has been for the last month. Savage took offense to this and reminded Lance that until this week, he didn’t have a contract to wrestle in the CWA so why would his manager be here. Savage then seemed to turn even more angry and wondered in Lance was suggesting if Elizabeth was with another man. Lance said that was not what he was talking about but Savage was already off the rails! To protect Lance, Dustin Rhodes came out and said that Savage has been nothing more than a bully sense he got here and that he should put his money where his mouth stands and challenged his to this match tonight… As for the match… easily the beat match of the night. Both men were bumping and selling for each other and hitting big move after big move. In the end, Savage outlasted Rhodes with a little help from a collision with ref Jerry Calhoun, and Savage connected with the Top Rope Elbow Drop for the win! Main Event: Jerry “The King” Lawler vs Eddie Gilbert with Jimmy Hart & Missy Hyatt Anyone who interferes will be suspended from the CWA for 1 year Last week in the Midsouth Coliseum, we saw Jimmy Hart toss an illegal object to Eddie Gilbert and Gilbert knocked Lawler out which cost him his match with Randy Savage and gave Savage a CWA Contract. Eddie Marlin fined both Jimmy Hart and Eddie Gilbert $1000 each for their interference in both the Savage-Lawler match and the Eddie Gilbert-Too Cold Scorpio match. While the fans liked the large fines, Jerry Lawler said that wasn’t enough as Gilbert and Hart’s interference allowed Randy Savage into the CWA. Lawler basically reminded everyone of the criminal actions of Savage and because of Gilbert and Hart, Savage now has free reign to do what he wants in the CWA. Lawler demanded this match tonight against Gilbert and demanded the stipulation of the year suspension to anyone who interferes. As the match is about to get started, two interesting things happen… first Lance Rusell notices that “The Bounty Hunter” Dick Slater is sitting in the first row. Last week, we found out that Slater was hired by someone to take Lawler out of wrestling but Slater needed to be sure what was told to him was the truth. Next, Lance, is joined by Curt Hennig at the announce area and says that he is just here to “watch” Lawler get what’s coming to him. Lance points out that this could be trouble for The King as Slater, the bounty hunter, doesn’t work for the CWA and technically, neither does Hennig, the USWA World Champion. As for the match, it is back and forth with a bunch of momentum changes. Every time Lawler has the advantage, we see Jimmy Hart and Missy Hyatt just trying to come up with a way to help Hot Stuff without being suspended. Eventually we see Missy try to distract ref Jerry Calhoun with her “assets.” This doesn’t work but Calhoun does take time to admonish Missy and tells her to get off the apron. WHAM… Low blow by Gilbert on Lawler. Wait a minute… Slater is coming towards the ring! Eddie goes to cover Lawler! Slater grabs…. Missy Hyatt… and lifts her off the apron…. Jerry Calhoun turns towards the action and sees the cover. He rushes over to start the count. Missy Hyatt screams when Slater lifts her up! Hotstuff sees Missy in the arms of Slater and gets off Lawler and heads towards the rope Here comes Curt Hennig Slater puts down Missy and starts to point as Jimmy Hart… Hart nervous… starts to run around the ring! WHAM… Jimmy Hart and Curt Hennig collide…Hart goes flying and Hennig goes to check on him. WHAM… Uppercut by Lawler on Gilbert…. WHAM… piledriver by Lawler 1…2…3! Lawler has defeated Gilbert What is going on with Slater? What was Hennig’s plan? I guess we have to wait until next week!
  2. Sorry for falling so far behind here. Really enjoyed reading about the Clash. You do an awesome job of putting everyone in the correct pecking order and then having the guys you want, continue to move up the ranks. The Sting angle with Nikita coming out of the stands and helping the Horsemen to destroy him was great but got even better as we wondered what would happen to the main event with Sting and Luger to face the Horsemen. Flying Brian was a great replacement as it allows us to see Pillman as a main event guy but in reality, it allowed everyone else to stay super strong and Pillman to take the fall. Pillman also is not weakened as he is now looked upon as being on the top level. Great job! Also, awesome job with the tournament. I like how you look at each match objectively. You told us that Rich and the Berzerker wasn't very good because of the limitations of the Berzerker but then you said how great Tommy Rich was in his loss to Nikita. Again, Nikita wins the tournament but because of AA, Pillman remains on the upward trajectory. Really good. I need help with this aspect of the game.
  3. WWF is rolling! Like how hyped up Monsonn and Heenan were about Vader. He could be anything you want him to be! Really liked the quality of the TV matches you gave with Rougeaus vs Dynamite Kid and Benoit and Brown vs Valiant. I remember not really liking the WWF because at best we got was SD Jones losing to some bigger star. King Haku over Snuka was another great match. It seems Snuka has fallen from the top as Haku made him look weak by not releasing the Death Grip. That's ok, Andre sure looked strong. Pick Your Poison Challenge... Love it Dusty with the roll up. I bet these two brawlers were a bit relived at the finish. Nice job. Looking forward to Wrestlemania and Toronto
  4. Great week of Bluegrass Championship Wrestling... The back and forth between Bert, Ronnie and Tasha was great especially with the Valentines gifts added to the angle. Too bad Lock had to come and take the candy. Awesome segment with Richard Lee, Zebra Kid, Chris Michaels and Hickerson. What a great way to sell tickets for the rematch! A small promotion like this needs to big guys who just want to brawl. Gypsy Joe and Cuban Assassin fit this perfectly. And the Kentucky Cup goes to the Mortons.... I think Pretty N Pink was a bit surprised to see the Mortons run the gauntlet. You really do have a knack for these small time territories... great job.

I know I am biased but I find myself rooting for the Americans as I read this as some of the names are unfamiliar to me. That being said, I really could see Backlund and the Crossface Chicken Wing thriving in this style. I am interested to see what comes of his wish for the title. I liked how you explained that the Maeda/Fujinami bout was the real main event while the title bout played second fiddle. Would the UWF always put the title match last even if it wasn't the real main event? This could serve to bring value to the belt but also could anger certain wrestlers who knew they were the reason for the packed house.
  6. I really enjoyed catching up on the AWA... sorry to be a bit behind. Great booking with the feud between Buzz Sawyer and Cactus Jack. These two wild men might be at opposite ends of the careers but they are perfect together. Buzz and all of his power moves allows the crazy Cactus Jack to develop his career as he seems to smile bigger each time he gets slammed! Bang Bang! I think Latin Desire is a great example of what could have been. I often wonder why certain people get a shot and others don't. I understand it is a combo of mic skills, look and talent but Al and Lou had a great look and I know Al was pretty good on the mic. Anyway, love how you have taken these brothers and made them a big part of your tag division. Hogan-Debeers along with Soul Patrol and The Commission is awesome. Debeers brings HEAT like no other. When he called the Soul Patrol untouchables, I could just feel the anger in the fans. While Debeers may never win the title, this is like printing money! Good job! The tag team tournament for the #1 contenders to the title is another great way to add some hype to midcard matches. Really liked the fake chair shot idea that Jive Tones used against the Mavericks even though the Mavericks got revenge in a less important match. Lets see what the Destruction Crew can do against the RnR Express. Like the gimmick and character development of Jimmy Golden and the Hangman. The wild, piledriver connecting, old-timer that doesn't give a crap is perfect. Larry Nelson running in fear of his life as the noose goes around his neck adds to the fear that goes along with the Hangman just like when Brutus was hanged. Like how Brutus could care less about winning in the bout at that Allen County Coliseum and just wanted revenge. Will be interesting to see who actually goes over who here as both are all gimmick and don't need titles to push their character. Really looking forward to Winnipeg and Title Night Speaking of characters.... Superstar with Muracco is perfect. These two are capable of anything.
  7. MIDSOUTH COLISEUM: FEB.17, 1990 Opening Bout Wild-eyed Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong & Tracy Smothers) have a successful debut with a win over Ron& Don Harris when they connected on a big double team move as Tracy held big Ron Harris up by his hips and Scott came flying of the top rope for a huge dropkick. The Southern Boys had the crowd eating out of their hands as they came out to Wild-eyed Southern Boys by 38 Special dressed in Confederate soldier uniforms and waving a Confederate flag. When asked by Lance Russell why they chose to come to the CWA, they said the answer was two-fold. First, Scott wanted to come and help out his brother who was dealing with the likes of the Dirty White Boy and Dutch Mantel. Next, Tracy quickly said that he heard there was going to be a tournament sometime next month to crown the first ever USWA World Champion and who better that the Southern Boys to be the champions down here in the Land of Dixie! Interview with Dick Slater Lance Russell: Dick Slater, your status in this sport cannot be denied. Even though you have not spent a lot of time here in Memphis, I would be hard pressed to find a wrestling fan that doesn’t know the great Dick Slater. Some call you the rebel. Some call you Mr. Excitement. Some just simply call you “Dirty.” Fans, I want to let you know that it was Mr. Slater who asked for this time here in the Midsouth Coliseum as he says he has something real important to tell us. Dick Slater: Lance, you left out one thing. Some people call me the ultimate bounty hunter and that is why I am here right now. I got a call from someone who will remain nameless, but they said they are willing to pay me $50,000 to put Jerry “The King” Lawler out of wrestling. This person gave me a whole laundry list of reasons as to why Lawler needs to be hurt and hurt badly. I will say this… I am a whole lot of things, but I am not someone who goes around hurting people that don’t deserve it. So, I guess what I am saying is that right now, I am here to do a little investigating. If what I am being told is true, I will have no problem taking out Lawler but if the claims prove to be unfounded, I will be coming after the person who hired me. Lance Russell: Dick… this is very disturbing news. Can you at least give us a clue as to who is paying you. I mean right now The King seems to have a long list of people who would be willing to hurt him…. Randy Savage…. Jimmy Hart and the First Family …. Curt Hennig? Dick Slater: No comment. And Dick Slater simply walks off. Match #2 Iceman Parsons defeats Hector Guerrero with the Butt Bump in a fast-paced match that had the fans out of their seats. Match #3 Eddie Gilbert with Jimmy Hart & Missy Hyatt defeats Too Cold Scorpio when Missy Hyatt distracted Jerry Calhoun in a way that only Missy could which allowed Jimmy Hart to toss an illegal object to Hot Stuff who clobbered Too Cold. Gilbert quickly covered Scorpio and a surprised Calhoun rushed over to complete the 3-count. Iceman Parsons rushed in to plea to Jerry Calhoun that Gilbert had cheated but by then Gilbert had already given the object to Missy Hyatt who stuffed in a place that Calhoun wouldn’t dare search but every guy wished they had the chance to. The First Family leaves as Iceman tends to Too Cold Scorpio. Grudge Match Brad Armstrong vs Dutch Mantel The problems between Armstrong and Dutch has been going on for a while and the dislike these two have for each other was evident from the start as Dutch tried to attack before the bell but Brad was ready for it. Brad actually had Dutch twisted in knots from a great ground attack but Dutch eventually brough this match to the gutter and the brawl was on. The fans were loving it as Brad seemed to have the upper hand … that is until the Dirty White Boy hit the ring. It is obvious that wins and looses mean nothing in this feud as Dutch was not the least bit upset at Calhoun calling for the bell. Dutch and the DWB just seemed to be enjoying this beat down… that is until the Wild-eyed Southern Boys hit the ring. Together Brad and Steve Armstrong along with Tracy Smothers really gave it to the DWB and Dutch who actually high-tailed it back to the locker room. Kendo Stick on a Pole Match- Losers get 10 Whacks Each With the Kendo Stick Jeff Jarrett & Dustin Rhodes defeated Kabuki and Tarzan Goto with Tojo Yamamota when Kabuki tried to spray the green mist into the eyes of Dustin Rhodes, but he pulled away from Tarzan just in time and Tarzan got the mist right in the eyes. This allowed Dustin to nail Tarzan with the Bulldog for the 3-count as JJ dropkicked Kabuki out onto the floor. Give Tojo’s monsters some credit as they took their whacks like men. It almost seemed like Tarzan was enjoying it. Main Event: Southern Tag Team Title Match in a Steel Cage Last Match Between the Freebirds and the Studd Stable: The Freebirds (Hayes &Garvin) have been feuding with The Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy) for nearly 6 months now. We have seen many different types of matches as these two teams have traded the Southern Tag Team Titles back and forth. We have even seen this feud divide families as Jimmy Golden sided with the Freebirds for a time and Buddy Roberts helped the Studd Stable. Eddie Marlin, concerned for the well-being of all involved, decided this would be the Last Match between these two teams in Memphis. Fuller and Eudy seemed eager to shut the Freebirds up for the last time and successfully defend their Southern Tag Titles while the Freebirds vowed that they would be partying with their new belts down on Beile Street long after the legal closing time! As for the match, Eudy showed that he was a beast as he battered each Freebird against the cage on numerous occasions. The problem came about 25 minutes into the bout as Sid came off the top rope and seemed to legitimately land wrong. He struggled to put any weight on his right leg as Lance feared it might be broken. This allowed the Freebirds to double team Fuller for the rest of the match. The end finally came as Hayes and Garvin hoisted Fuller up for a Double Brainbuster. Ref Jerry Calhoun made the 3-count and handed the Freebirds the titles but then all attention turned to Sid. Even the Freebirds seemed to look on with concern. After being examined by the doctor, Sid was stretchered out and you could just tell be the look on Fuller’s face, that the Studd Stable was in need of a new stud. The crowd didn’t seem too upset as the cheered wildly for their new Southern Tag Team Champions. “Lights Out-Non-Sanctioned Match “King” Jerry Lawler vs Randy “Macho Man” Savage: If Savage wins, he gets a CWA contract Let’s take a look at how we got here. During the break between matches, we see a video on the screen that shows all the problems between Lawler and Savage dating back to before Christmas. We see Savage storming the TV set in search of Lawler as he is fuming that Bluegrass Championship Wrestling was admitted to the USWA. By coincidence, Lawler wasn’t in the building that day. Savage proceeded to interfere with Lawler’s championship match against “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig by coming off the top rope with an elbow as Lawler seemed ready to win the title. Next, we get footage of an injured Lawler as Savage apparently hit him with a car. Finally, we get footage from the last big event in the Midsouth Coliseum as Savage once again prevented Lawler from winning the title as he interfered once again resulting in Savage and Lawler brawling in the ring and Savage eventually being lead out of the Coliseum in handcuffs while Curt Hennig simply walked out with his title in tack. Hennig also walked out with an extra $6000 of Lawler’s money as per the stipulation that the King had to pay Mr. Perfect $500 per punch he threw. That is a hefty price tag for not winning the title. The video then went to last week’s TV show where we see Lawler and Jerry Jarrett. Everybody knew that Jarrett’s presence meant business as he usually sends out Eddie Marlin to deal with the day-to-day drama of the CWA. Lance Russell: Okay folks, before we get to today’s show, Jerry Lawler has asked for some time to speak and he also requested Jerry Jarrett’s presence. Jerry Lawler: Thank you Jerry for coming out here. Jerry, we all know that there is one goal in this business and that is to win the World Title. I believe that on three occasions over the past 2 ½ months, I have clearly outwrestled Curt Henning… and I have nothing to show for it. The first time was a fluke…. A coin toss but the other two… clearly Randy Savage has cost me the world title… and more… He cost me my health as he ran me over with a car. Yes… he ran me over with a car. Whatever is going on in that sick mind of his, whatever problem he has with me, is not going to get solved until I face him in the ring. Now, I understand he is not an employee of the USWA or the CWA and he has no right getting into a real wrestling match in this territory but for everything I’ve done for this company, I’m asking a favor… I need this to stop…. I need the chance to get even… I need to stop Randy Savage so I can get back on track to take what is rightfully mine… The USWA World Title! Jerry Jarrett: Jerry, I know your upset. Upset at everything that has gone on in the last three months. I also know that you have done more for Memphis Wrestling than any man alive but… I can’t reward someone with a CWA Wrestling contract who has done nothing but criminal actions to the CWA for the past few months. He has trespassed. He has committed assault. He has tried to ruin the integrity of the USWA World Title and he has actually run a member of our promotion over with a car! I’m sorry King, I can’t do that. Suddenly, Randy Savage comes out with Lance and Jerry Jarrett begging for peace. This time it is Savage who seems the peacefully one as Lawler is being restrained by Jarrett. Randy Savage: Oh yea…. Lawler and the Macho Man… Lights Out… Non-Sanctioned Match. I finally get to put the King down once and for all. OH YEA…. Sounds like a win-win for everybody… but the Macho Man. You people have once again found a way to use the Macho Man. First it was you keeping the great Angelo Poffo out of the CWA and now, you are about to have the biggest crowd in Memphis history… OH YEA…. They will be hanging from the rafters to in hopes that the King will put an end to the Macho Man… the lines at the concession stand will be around the corner… the popcorn will be flowing… the beers will be guzzled…. And when its all said and down… the King will be laying in the center of the ring, beaten once again by the Macho Man Randy Savage… OH YEA, but when the camera closes in on Lawler, you will see the blood… you will see the bruises… but you will also see the King smiling the biggest smile since the teenaged girls here in Memphis say Elvis! Why you ask is a beaten man so happy. Let the Mach Man tell you why… Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett will be rolling in money as I am escorted out of the building… victorious yes but also not paid for the match and also unemployed. The Macho Man is no fool. You want the match Jerry Lawler, the Lights Out-Non-Sanctioned Match, I will accept with one stipulation… I win, I get a CWA contract! That’s right, I win the match, I am a wrestler here in Memphis but if you win… I will walk away! Lance Russell: So let me get this straight. You, Randy Savage will wrestle Jerry Lawler in the Midsouth Coliseum on February 24th in a Light Out Match if and only if, you win, you get a CWA Wrestling contract. Suddenly Jerry Lawler grabs the microphone and instead of yelling at Savage, he is yelling at Jerry Jarrett about how he better accept this deal or he is leaving Memphis to hunt down Randy Savage. Jerry Jarrett: Ok, while this is against my better judgement, I will accept these stipulations and Lawler you better win! Jarrett walks off as Lance takes us to break with a warning that he hopes the studio is in one piece when we return. Now, let’s get to the match… Brawl… Brawl…. Brawl! This is obviously personal and no matter what one does to the other, they both keep on coming. Suddenly, Dick Slater makes his way to ringside. He grabs a chair and takes a seat. Lance Russell helps to remind us what Slater said earlier in the evening. He is here in the CWA as a hitman looking to collect a bounty on the wrestling career of Jerry Lawler. From Lawler’s reaction, he also knows exactly why Slater is here. This causes Lawler to lose focus. Unfortunately, the problems for Lawler get only worse as Jimmy Hart is now leading out The First Family…Eddie Gilbert, Greg Valentine and Honky Tonk Man. The referee, who was announced as Bill Billingsly, could do nothing about it as this match was Non-Sanctioned and basically lawless. Jimmy Hart, clearly hands Eddie Gilbert the same illegal object that he used earlier in his match and Gilbert waits for the right time… WHAM… Gilbert nails the King! Eddie Gilbert motions to Savage to climb to the top rope and do his elbow drop! Savage almost seems to hesitate but then climbs to the top… Dick Slater is now out of his chair and up on the apron… as are Honky Tonk and Greg Valentine. WHAM… Savage with the big Elbow Drop on Lawler. Bill Billingsly with the count! 1…2…3! Jimmy Hart is jumping up and down as the first family is in the ring stomping on Lawler! Dick Slater climbs down off the apron and walks to the locker room shaking his head!. Savage seems confused but then a big smile comes over him as he has finally earned a contract to wrestle in Memphis- the company his father so badly wanted to become back in the late 70’s. Finally, the calvary comes to the ring as JJ, Dustin Rhodes, Brad Armstrong and the Wild-eyed Southern Boys chase away the First Family. Savage just stays in the ring and makes no motion to leave and no motion to attack. He just takes in the whole situation as the fans wonder what is next between The King and the Macho Man.

  9. Enjoying this format as you get a lot across in a very effective way. Great for a Saturday Prime. Enjoying Heenan as part of the announce team. While WWF was never my favorite as a kid, I enjoyed their announcers like Heenan and Jesse Ventura. SNME is shaping up nicely.
  10. Really enjoyed catching up on Bluegrass Championship Wrestling. Your promotion is perfect for the territory. Lock and Humperdink are great as the scary heel combo. Falk and his students are also a great angle here. It really makes people think they can make it in the wrestling world. Michaels and The Zebra Kid gives Hickerson a chance to show his authority... throw in Richard Lee as lawyer/manager and the heat is on. Speaking of heat... Pretty in Pink in Kentucky... not a fan would dare cheer. Love it! Also Ronnie's "one sided affair" with Tasha is great. I do bet she increases viewership
  11. Midsouth Coliseum Card: January 27, 1990 “The Fab One” Steve Keirn defeats Rip Rogers with a diving seton. The Undertaker with Paul Bearer defeats Cousin Junior with the top rope elbow smash, Tombstone Combo. The bout started with some good ol fashion country dancing as Cousin Junior made his way to the ring but the fans quickly became silent as the Dead Man came walking to the ring. Even more scary than the Undertaker was the Soul Taker who seemed to perform some ritual on Cousin Junior after he was left for dead by the Undertaker. Fathers were seen covering the eyes of the children in the arena. Memphis Street Fight: Brad Armstrong & Bill Dundee vs Dirty Dutch Mantel & The Dirty White Boy ended in a Double Countout. The rules allowed Mantel to bring his bull whip to the ring but this plan backfired as he was the one being snapped out by Superstar Bill Dundee. Mantel decided to hightail it towards the locker room but Superstar followed him behind the curtain. Armstrong and the DWB were not to be outdone as the brawled all over the arena. Dustin Rhodes vs Eddie Gilbert with Jimmy Hart & Missy Hyatt ended in a 20-minute draw. Jimmy Hart and Missy Hyatt were somewhat neutralized by Miss. Tennessee who came rushing to ringside after Missy interfered early in the match. It seems Miss. Tennessee has made it her mission to stop Missy from getting involved in Gilbert’s matches. Eddie was all fired up to start the match as he was still fuming at Dustin kissing Missy last week but Dustin didn’t seem to mind as a brawl was just what he seemed in the mood for. Dustin has definitely not shied away from any situation since coming to the CWA as he has already gotten on the bad side of both the First Family as well as Tojo and his group. The UWF Tag Team Champs, Honkey Tonk Man & Greg “The Hammer” Valentine with Jimmy Hart defeated the Freebirds in a non-title match with help from the Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy). The Studd Stable seemed to just be observing their competition as these two teams are most likely the top two challengers to their Southern Tag Titles. As Fuller distracted ref, Jerry Calhoun, Sid Eudy came in and powerbombed Jimmy Garvin. Southern Title Match: Jeff Jarrett © defeated Tarzan Goto with Tojo Yamamota by DQ as he had Goto locked in the Figure Four Leglock when Kendo Nagasaki came rushing out from the back and sprayed some mystical green mist into the eyes of the champ. This quickly became obvious that Kabuki was the new addition that Tojo has been talking about. What also became obvious was that Dustin Rhodes was not done with his feud with the Japanese as he rushed out and attacked the trio by himself. This went well but only for a short period of time and in the end, it was Jarrett and Rhodes left laying in the middle of the ring as the Japanese dodged debris during their celebration to the locker room. USWA World Title Match: “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig © vs “The King” Jerry Lawler: Lawler must pay Hennig $500 for every punch he throws. A week ago, nobody was even sure this match was going to take place as Randy Savage seemed to hit Jerry Lawler with a car injuring his right shoulder. Lawler vowed to be here for the match and he is but his shoulder is heavily wrapped. Jerry Jarrett has vowed to protect the legitimacy of this match but some think that this is too little, too late as Hennig clearly has the advantage over the injured King. As the match progresses, it is obvious that Lawler is not 100%. After nearly 15 minutes, Lawler has not thrown 1 punch. Maybe he is not able to or maybe he even believes he can’t win the match and doesn’t want to hand any of his money over to the champion. None of this has stopped Hennig from breaking a bunch of rules for his advantage. He may be right that the King throws a few punches but lets not for a minute think that Hennig is not above a dirty break here or a grab of the tights there to save his belt. We have had a few momentum changes through the first 25 minutes but Hennig, who seems to have a deeper arsenal has managed to carry more of the action. Lawler has started to take some big blows and is struggling to get to his feet. As his confidence grew, Hennig starts to belittle Lawler… making mocking signs about his crown and then even pulling down his own strap and pretending to shadow box an opponent. According to Lance Russell, this was all an attempt to anger Lawler into throwing a few weakened punches by Lawler so Lawler would have to fork over some cash. Hennig turns to the crows and starts to mock them… pointing at their “hero” while signaling that his waist is the one that holds the belt. Lawler, from his knees, shoves Hennig, who simply laughs and then comes down to a big boot to the head of Lawler. We get about three more failed attempts by Lawler going after Hennig with the champ delivering a big blow each time to keep all the momentum from Lawler and the energy from the fans. Finally, Lawler just says its now or never and starts to just absorb the blows from Curt while continuing to rise up. Each blow from Hennig has less and less effect on Lawler. Finally, he just completely no sells a huge punch by Hennig and Lawler shoves the champ into the corner and he rushes in and leaps on the second rope straddling Hennig. Lawler pulls the strap down, kind of stretches out that right shoulder and then just starts wailing on the champ. The crowd starts to count the blows and when we get to a dozen, Lawler jumps down from the middle rope and the champ just face plants in the corner. Lawler, quickly back up on the second rope… WHAM… Fist drop on Hennig Lawler drags the champ up by his hair… WHAM… Piledriver on Hennig Lawler covers the champ as Jerry Calhoun rushes into position 1…2… Suddenly, from behind, a man in a ski mask pulls Jerry Calhoun from the ring by his legs. Nobody knows exactly what is happening for a second until the man pulls the mask off at its Randy Savage. Lawler and Savage are equally enraged and go after each other. This epic brawl is short lived as security storm the ring after about 3 minutes during which Hennig simply took his belt and left. In the end, we see Lawler getting medical attention which he waves off. Savage leaving the ring in handcuffs and Hennig probably hailing a cab to the airport with his title still around his waist. The chaos at the end, almost made the fans forget about Lawler not winning the title… Almost!
  12. What happened last week to end the show? As the show came to an end last week, we saw Eddie Marlin rush onto the set in urgent need of a doctor. When asked what happened, all he could say before the screen faded to black was Lawler… Randy Savage uh… So it turns out that as Jerry Lawler was leaving the TV studio, Randy Savage hit him with his car and then got out of the car and was all over Jerry Lawler. It was at this time that Jeff Jarrett, Dustin Rhodes and the Freebirds were leaving and then rushed over to aid Lawler. Savage got back in his car and drove off. An ambulance was called for Lawler who was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. While the situation was frightening when it happened, it seems that Lawler suffered only minor injuries with the most significant being a separated right shoulder. At Lawler’s request, no incident was filed with the Memphis police as he says that he will deal with the Randy Savage situation himself. As for the USWA World Title Match between Lawler and “Mr. Perfect” Curt Henning which is only a little more than a week away, Lawler vows to be ready but many say that the injured right shoulder may hamper his ability to throw those big right hands. This may help his wallet as he will be fined $500 per punch thrown but also will hurt his chances to become the world champ. Lance Russell visited Jerry Lawler at his home this week where Lawler was recuperating with his arm in a sling. Lance Russell: First of all Jerry, what happened last Saturday afternoon? Jerry Lawler: That’s simple. The one they call the Macho Man wasn’t so macho. He needed a car to do what he couldn’t do. He came up from behind and ran me over. Lucky for me, I just rolled over the hood and landed on my right shoulder. But listen up Macho… you better have eyes in the back of your head because Memphis is my town and I got a lot of friends. Revenge is coming but you just won’t know when. Lance Russell: So King, everyone wants to know what’s going to happen to your USWA World Title shot next Monday on January 27 at the Midsouth Coliseum? Jerry Lawler: Lance, that depends on who you ask. If you ask the doctors, I won’t be able to wrestle next Monday night. If you ask Curt Hennig, this shoulder injury is just an excuse because I know I can’t beat him…. But you’re the first person to ask me that question and the answer is very simple. I will be at the Midsouth Coliseum, and I will wrestle Curt Hennig for the title and I will leave as the champion. Lance Russell: And what about the stipulation that you will have to pay Hennig $500 for every punch you throw. Will you still be able to punch like you do? Jerry Lawler: We’ll let Hennig’s jaw answer that question next Monday. I bet he might be slurring his words. Interesting thing was that when the show came back live, the USWA champion, Curt Hennig was in studio with Lance and Dave Brown. Curt Hennig: Let’s do a little trip down memory lane. The first time, Jerry Lawler failed to defeat me, he blamed a coin. The next time he failed to defeat me, it was Randy Savage’s fault and now, he claims that the Macho Man hit him with a car. Lance Russell: C’mon on now Curt. There were witnesses. Curt Hennig: Oh yea, I forgot. The witnesses were all his buddies here in Memphis. It was Dustin Rhodes… the Freebirds… and the owner of the company’s son, Jeff Jarrett. Like their not in cahoots with the so-called King. Where was Jimmy Hart? Where was Eddie Gilbert? Where were any of the people not in Lawler’s pockets looking for a hand out…. That’s right Lance, they weren’t there because it DIDN’T HAPPEN. Now the King put his arm in a sling because he wants a reason why he will fail again this Monday night. He wants a reason why I don’t fall down when he throws those punches. Remember this Lawler… it is better to lose for free then to lose and pay me thousands of dollars because your punches didn’t get the job done! Southern Title Situation It will be Tarzan Goto with Tojo Yamamota getting the title shot this week against Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett had a pretty tough match this week against “The Crippler” Rip Oliver which Tojo and Tarzan came out to “scout.” As Jeff Jarrett locked in the Figure Four, Tarzan started to head for the ring but Dustin Rhodes made the save. Tojo was furious and vowed revenge on Rhodes and that Jarrett will soon see that he is no match for the Japanese monster…. TARZAN GOTO. Southern Tag Team Situation While the Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy) are not in action at the Midsouth Coliseum this week, the tag team division is getting deeper and deeper. Many believe that the winner between the Freebirds and UWF Tag Team Champions, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Honky Tonk Man, will earn a Southern Tag Title match in the near future. This week saw the Freebirds with Dustin Rhodes take on The First Family (Valentine, HTM, and Eddie Gilbert). This match saw a crazy ending as Missy Hyatt tried to spray perfume in the eyes of Michael Hayes but Dustin Rhodes grabbed her hand, tossed the perfume away and then planted a big kiss onto Missy Hyatt. This sent Eddie Gilbert into a rage where he grabbed a chair and swung it at Dustin’s head. Luckily he missed Dustin but it his wild anger, he nailed the referee causing the immediate DQ. Brad Armstrong-Dirty Dutch Mantel/Dirty White Boy Situation Last week, after being attacked by Dutch and the DWB two weeks ago, Brad challenged Dutch and the DWB to a tag match at the Midsouth Coliseum against himself and a mystery partner. This week, Dutch and the DWB destroyed two jobbers in a tag match and then went to the podium wondering who Brad’s tag team partner would be as they were sure that no one would be on his side in a fight against the two toughest men in the CWA! Dutch Mantell: Hey Brad. What is this… wrestling trivia? Are we just supposed to guess your partner? I know you like to go to the gym but are the 45 pound plates falling on your head? Are you just so dumb you forget his name? DWB: I think your mama build you a swing facing the house when you were little Armstrong and your brain kept slamming into the kitchen window because your brain stopped working. Lance told them that that would be enough as they were told that Brad’s partner was going to be a mystery. Both Dutch and the DWB were adamant that they wanted to know who. This is when Brad comes out? Brad Armstrong: I think you two blokes have been out in the bush two long. I can guarantee you to that I got a partner and when you see who it is, you two sheilas will be strewthed with fear. Dutch Mantell: Now I know you cracked your head once two many time. I don’t have a clue of what your even talking about. Brad Armstrong: Oh, I’m sorry. I guess I’ve been hanging around my partner to much this week, I picked up some of his slang terms. DWB: This has gone on far too long… I think you been talking to your imaginary friend just like when you were a kid and its time we beat the stupid out of you. Dutch and the DWB close in on Brad just as the crowd cheers wildly…. Lance Russell: Oh by golly, look at this… from behind its Superstar Bill Dundee Dundee with a 2x4 comes out and cracks both Dutch and the DWB in the back with the 2x4 as the two dirties run off. A big promo from Brad and the Superstar hypes of the fans for the big event in the Midsouth Coliseum and later Dutch and the DWB return and do the same as they are sure not going to be intimidated by the Shrimp on the Barbie! Others with wins on this week’s tv show. WOW.... such great work here. I loved how the videos you found support the show and results. Most of us just find a picture and add it but you had the video of Vader's arm injury. You have also mastered the match description from beginning to end. I struggle to do more then the entrance and the finish but you give such detail to all your matches. UWF is on a roll heading into the 90's.
  14. Awesome job getting all your new talent sorted out. I really liked the Piper interview. He could really throw a wrench into so much of what is going on in PCW. Also, thought the first match of Coast to Coast was great. They are another one of those newcomers that is going to cause chaos. Great start to the 90's.
  15. I really enjoyed all the little pieces that you added to the show like the Perez brothers on the beach, Patera in the gym, and the Destruction Crew coming out of the wrecked building. I think Patera is a nice choice to be next for Hogan... his power would make the match very believable. The AWA seems ready for the 90's.
  16. What a night for Warrior. First, a loss which I thought might be devastating to his WWF status but then the big win over Vader. Speaking of Vader... very interested to see what he does here. Great ending to the Rude-Andre match. Is this all for Andre? Looking forward to this.
  17. Really enjoyed the segment on joining the USWA and the changes that were made. Lock is one scary lady! PIP and Precious could take over BCW. Great show!
  18. Nice summaries this week. Enjoy the focus on the big boys and the push to get over. Luger seems to have no shortage of challengers.
  19. SuperClash was awesome!! I really enjoyed the creativity of the opening match with those eliminated must leave the AWA. Really helps you move on in an exciting way. The 2-1 of Patera and Rheingans would be too much for almost anyone including DiSalvo I like the choice of Jumbo over Big Jim... Jumbo is a legend. Hansen/Orndorff- Instant classic. Liked Taylor vs Muracco. I think both of these guys are underrated. Also like Muracco as the babyface. Not sure I ever saw this side of him but he was so good on the mic and with a huge smile, I think he would be great at anything he did. I think the Fantastics-RnR Express was the match of the night and you could have gone either way with it. Looking forward to what's next for the Express. Great write up of the main event. Like Mr. T getting involved again. Can't believe we are heading into another year. AWA is on fire as always. Great little updates on who is leaving and who is coming to the AWA in 1990. Your roster seems to have a great balance of vets and rookies. Going to be a fun year!
  20. Loved all the effort you put into SNME. The promos were spot on. Awesome job! Really excited for KOR. I always thought that it was a great event. Heenan has a great Family but also has some serious people coming after him. This is going to be awesome. Bossman-Nailz is great booking. Looking forward to this one. Also think Manny and Duggan are great for each other... two bulls beating the crap out of each other seems like a great watch to me. Very realistic Prime Time with each segment hyping up a future show. Between the Royal Rumble and Boston Show, the WWF is rolling. This switch of territories really seems to have re-energized you. Awesome job!!!!
  21. January 11, 1990 Curt Hennig-Jerry Lawler These two superstars have had two epic matches in recent months. The first ended in a 60-minute draw but Hennig was awarded the USWA title by way of the “Coin Flip Heard Around the USWA.” Next, Lawler seemed to be on the verge of winning the title until Randy “Macho Man” Savage came off the top rope with the flying elbow to the back of the head of Lawler resulting in the DQ win for the King, but the title stayed with Hennig. Next, we see a video clip from their most recent match that shows Hennig and Lawler starting off with some great chain wrestling with quick technical moves like armbars, head scissors, hip tosses all with quick reversals into another move, often with the champ ending the series in control. As we move farther onto the highlights, we see Lawler and Hennig into a bit of a brawl and then we see the Lawler piledriver and the Macho Man elbow. This week during the segment, “Spanning the USWA,” the Memphis fans are shown an interview in the bowels of the Cajundome where Lance Russell is talking to a worn-out Curt Henning. First Hennig vehemently denies any collusion between Savage and himself and has no idea why Savage attacked Lawler. Next, when Russell asks what it’s like wrestling Jerry Lawler, Hennig takes a deep breath before answering. Curt Hennig: To tell you the truth, it takes a while to unwind… the pain from the pounding I just took still hasn’t completely set in as the adrenaline is still running through my body. So I bet I’ll have some trouble falling asleep tonight… but in all honesty… the hell will set in tomorrow as I try to get out of bed. I will ache in every part of my head but let me change the subject for just a minute. It is about an hour since my match ended tonight and the word has already begun to trickle down to me from my “friends” in the business… that Jerry Jarrett and Bill Watts … because of how tonight’s match ended, are discussing a rematch between Jerry Lawler and myself. A rematch because of what Randy Savage did… which again, I had nothing to do with… a rematch because we want to treat all these humanoids to the two best wrestlers in the USWA… a rematch because both Jarrett and Watts know I am their cash cow and they want to use me to make every last dollar for their pockets. Well, let me tell you this… it is a rematch that I completely disagree with. You see, tomorrow morning, I will probably be eating soup for breakfast. I will be taking my meals through a straw for the next few weeks and you want to known why?.... Well, I’ll tell you why. That man that you stupid fans want so badly to be your champion… Jerry Lawler… is not a wrestler… Watch the video tape… I dominated in the sport of wrestling. I had him locked every which way. He could barely breath… that is until Lawler changed the sport. He decided to change the marquee on the sign outside of the arena from Wrestling to Bar Room Brawling.” Go ahead, count the amount of punches he threw. I will guarantee there was more than a fifty. He is not a wrestler… he doesn’t know the first thing about the sport of Kings yet he calls himself a king! Nonsense. Listen closely Jerry Jarrett. Listen closely Bill Watts and most Important Jerry Lawler, if I am forced to wrestle you again, it will be under my terms or I walk away from the USWA and I take your precious title with me. When we are back live in Memphis, Jerry Lawler is with Lance Russell and Russell is holding a piece of paper with him. Russell explains that this is the official contract sent to the CWA for Jerry Lawler to sign for a rematch between The King and Curt Henning for the Midsouth Coliseum for January 27th. At first Lawler is excited to sign but Lance tells him to hold on a minute and goes on to explain that there is a stipulation in the contract that says that every punch Jerry Lawler throws in the match, it will cost him $500 and that $500 will go directly into the bank account of Curt Henning. Jerry Lawler: (with a smirk on his face) Its true Lance that $500 for every punch I throw is a lot of money. I bet that if I had to pay $500 for every punch I threw in the last fight that I would be completely broke by now. But what choice do I have. This is the only way to get a rematch this quickly so of course I’m going to sign the contract. Hennig sits down there in Louisiana and likes to talk about what a great wrestler he is and that all I can do is throw punches. Well listen up Hennig. If you’re such a great wrestler and know all these moves and had me all tied up in knots, then why haven’t you been able to be beat me yet? In fact, it was my piledriver… a legal wrestling move, that had me about to beat you until Randy Savage got involved…. But I will agree with something you said Henning. I do like to throw punches. In fact, I think I have a pretty good punch. So, let’s do the math. If I throw 20 punches, it will cost me $10,000. If I throw 50 punches, it will cost me $25,000. Both are large amounts of money… but nowhere near the amount of money I will earn as the new USWA World Heavyweight Champion. Oh, and let’s not forget that by Hennig putting this stipulation in the contract, he has just made punching legal in this rematch… BIG MISTAKE CURT. BIG MISTAKE. I’m about to legally knock you out… give you a little money which won’t cover your hospital bills and then become a very wealthy world champion. Jimmy Golden Issue Jimmy Golden was at the podium with the other Studd Stable members (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy) He was gloating about how easy it was to trick the Freebirds into believing that he was on their side and how good it was to once again be a member of the Studd Stable and to, under the Freebird Rule, to be one of the Southern Tag Team Champions. This brought out Eddie Marlin, who was very displeased that Jimmy Golden would abuse his power as a special guest referee and get involved in the title match between the Studd Stable and the Freebirds. He also informed Golden that, since he was not an official member of the Studd Stable when they won the Southern Tag Team Title, the Freebird Rule doesn’t apply, and he is not a current Southern Tag Team Champion. Golden argued but to no avail. Fuller didn’t seem to care too much as it seemed he was happier that he and Eudy would be the only champions and offered Golden to be a manager if he got his managerial license. This really set Golden off as he once again blamed Fuller for abandoning him in the Carolinas and then he started to mouth off to Sid Eudy but as the monster started to step towards him, Golden backed off… in fact… he stormed off. Lance Russell and Dave Brown ended the promo wondering if this was the last we would see Golden as he seemed to be all alone. Brad Armstrong-Dirty Dutch Mantel/Dirty White Boy Situation Brad Armstrong has been the poster boy for fighting illegal objects the CWA recently. First, he defeated the Dirty White Boy and his illegal forearm brace and then more recently, he has been dealing with Dirty Dutch and Shoo Baby. We see a video from last week where Dirty Dutch and the Dirty White Boy dressed up as the Grapplers in a match where Armstrong thought he was wrestling the Grappler. DWB and Dutch proceeded to get revenge on Dutch in a vicious 2-1 attack. This week, Dutch and the Dirty White Boy were gloating about how the beat the Do-Gooder to a pulp last week and how he got exactly what he deserved. This is when Brad came out and challenged the two to a tag team match in the Midsouth Coliseum with a mystery partner. Dutch and the Dirty White Boy had a good laugh at this as they were pretty sure the only person good enough to help an Armstrong must not be much of a wrestler. They accepted but then as Brad seemed rather confident, Dutch and the DWB wanted a hint but Brad just walked off. New Tag Team Debuts The fans were thoroughly entertained by the new CWA tag team of Cold as Ice. This paring of Iceman King Parsons and Too Cold Scorpio had the fans out of their seats with the “We Are Family” entrance and then their high fling moves as they defeated The Harris Brothers. Speaking of New Additions to the CWA While we did not see their new additions this week, Tojo Yamamota and Paul Bearer both promised that new wrestlers would soon be joining their stable. Tojo promised that along with Tarzan Goto, his new addition would make the son of the American Dream would be paying homage to the Land of the Rising Sun. Paul Bearer told people that they should make very smart decisions in their lives which may include getting out of the wrestling business as his Undertaker and Soul Taker are sure to control their After Life. Lance Russell and Dave Brown again seemed very nervous just being around The Undertaker and Paul Bearer. Other Matches Signed For the Midsouth Coliseum Southern Title Match: Jeff Jarrett vs Tarzan Goto Freebirds vs Greg Valentine & Honky Tonk Man with Jimmy Hart Dustin Rhodes vs Eddie Gilbert with Jimmy Hart As the show is going off the air Eddie Marlin rushes out and asks is there a doctor in the house…Quickly we need a doctor… When Lance asks what’s going on, Eddie simple responds Jerry Lawler… Rand Savage uh… And the screen fades to black.
  22. UWF switches Moondogs to Rex and Spot and releases Spot and Moretti
  23. Memphis adds Rip Oliver and Spike Huber
  24. January 4, 1990 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. Before we get to Lance Russell and Dave Brown, we see a video with Randy “Macho Man” Savage standing atop the top rope where he leaps and lands on Jerry “The King” Lawler who had “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig covered as the ref was making his count. Lance Russell: Yellow again everybody. Lance Russell and Dave Brown here for Championship Wrestling, a member if the USWA, the finest name in all of professional wrestling. By golly we’ve got a whole heck of a lot of things to get to today including what we just saw on that video. I mean can you believe it… The Macho Man, one of the greatest wrestlers in the world arrived here in the USWA and attacked Jerry “The King” Lawler. To be honest with you Dave, I’ve got no idea what that was all about. Dave Brown: Me neither Lance, but before we get into that and everything else that happened at Last Stand, I’ve been asked to make a special announcement on behalf of Eddie Marlin…. Bluegrass Championship Wrestling has been admitted into the USWA. This now makes the USWA an alliance between Bluegrass Championship Wrestling, the CWA and UWF. Lance Russell: Wow Dave that is big news, but I guess when you’re seen as the greatest wrestling organization in the world, territories just want to be a part of it. So welcome Bluegrass Championship Wrestling. Dave Brown: That’s right Lance and what a time to join the USWA… I mean USWA Wrestling is on fire after Last Stand. What an event. All the great stars of the UWF were introduced to the Memphis fans in a big way. I mean the Steiner Brothers, “The World’s Strongest Man” Bill Kazmaier, Jimmy Jack Funk, the cousin of Terry and Dory Funk, Dick Slater, the Angel of Death, Hacksaw Butch Reed, Ron Simmons and then we had “The Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich beat “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel for the UWF title! That is one stacked roster. Lance Russell: True that Dave but I think our CWA wrestlers held up their end of the bargain and as usual, left us with some questions that need to be answered. As we already saw, Randy Savage arrived out of nowhere and cost the King the USWA World Title. I mean I hope 1990 is a better year for Jerry Lawler... I mean just in the last month, we see a brutal attack on Lawler by Jimmy Hart and the First Family and then he losses the World Title on a coin flip and now… Randy Savage, a man that has never stepped foot in Memphis, (at least not in Dawn of War) attacks him just as he was on the verge of becoming the World Champion. Dave Brown: Amen to the idea of a better year for the King but that’s not all we’ve got to figure out here after Last Stand. I mean is Jimmy Golden back with the Studd Stable… was this all a trick to defeat the Freebirds? And what about Dirty Dutch Mantel who defeated Brad Armstrong to become the new Tri-State Champion? Did you see that object he pulled out of his trunks and how he tossed it into the stands before Nick Patrick saw it? Lance Russell: I don’t want to say I told you so, but did you expect anything different from Dutch Mantell. And then we had to say goodbye to a great American… Sgt Slaughter, who really came here to protect me from Tojo and his monster, Tarzan Goto. Thanks Sarge and I wish you the best wherever you go. Dave Brown: Agreed… Well let’s get to today’s great show. We have 5 matches for our fans here in the first show of a new decade. First, it’ll be a new tag team to the area, Devil’s Duo facing off against the Batten Twins. Then the Undertaker faces the Italian Stallion. Next, fans be ready to be up and out of your seat as the hoedown will begin as Cousin Junior makes his arrival in the CWA and he squares off against “The Professor” Bill Ash . Dustin Rhodes will face the Assassin and in the main event, it’ll be Brad Armstrong facing off against the Grappler. It looks like the Batten Twins are in the ring waiting the arrival of Devil’s Duo so let’s get to the ring…. MATCH #1 Devil’s Duo vs The Batten Twins Suddenly, the camera quickly comes back to Lance Russell as we see Randy Savage storming the podium area…. Randy Savage: Hey, do you who you’re talking to? Do you know who I am? I’m the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. 7 long years… 7 longs years…. Get him out here right now. Get him out here right now! Get him out here right NOW! Lance Russell: Mr. Savage… First, I don’t know why you’re here. You don’t work for the CWA and also, you seem to be rambling. I am unsure what you want. Randy Savage: Don’t you tell me nothing Lance Russell… Nothing… 7 years, 7 long years my father Angelo Poffo tried to get his Kentucky Rastling Territory to join with the CWA…. 7 years. Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett refused to even meet my father. Get him out here now. Get Jerry Lawler out here now… Suddenly Eddie Marlin in on the scene and tells Randy Savage that he has no right to be here, and that Jerry Lawler has been instructed to not come to the podium. Marlin goes on to tell Savage to leave or security will be called to escort him out. Randy Savage: You instructed Lawler to remain in the back because you are afraid of what the Macho Man will do to him but if I need to rip you to pieces as a representative of the CWA that’s fine. How dare you people disrespect my father like you did. (Savage spits a huge spit towards Marlin and screams that he spits on Lawler… He spits on Jarrett… He spits on the CWA… He spits on Bluegrass Championship Wrestling) Lance Russell: Randy… this seems a little ridiculous. You’re upset about something that happened 5 years ago? Randy Savage: Don’t tell me nothing man… nothing! I’m here because you let Bluegrass Championship Wrestling into the USWA after one meeting when my father asked you people for 7 years… 7 long years! How dare you disrespect him, me and everything my family stands for. Because of people like Jerry Lawler, Jerry Jarrett and you Eddie Marlin… I’m here to wreck havoc on the CWA. You saw what I’m capable the other day in the Cajundome and I won’t stop before I put an end to Lawler, Jarrett and the CWA!!! Savage storms to the ring where the Batten brothers are still waiting for their match. Savage hits the ring and is running around like a lunatic. WHAM… DDT on Brad. WHAM… Irish Whip… diving elbow… piledriver on Bart. Off the top rope… elbow drop on Brad. Off the top rope … elbow drop on Bart. Suddenly we get about 6 security guards… All 6 are down within seconds. Now we are at 12 security guards and finally they have Savage under their control and take him, kicking and screaming from the studio as Lance takes us to commercial break. COMMERCIAL BREAL When we come out of break, Lance tries to restore order, but the studio is still buzzing about Savage. Eddie Marlin is still with Lance where he tells us the next big event at the Mid-South Coliseum will be on January 27. He also announces that on March 24, also at the Mid-South Coliseum, there will be a one-night tag team tournament with teams from the CWA, UWF and Bluegrass Championship Wrestling and the winner of this tournament will be crowned the first USWA Tag Team Champions. Lance tries to hype up these huge cards coming to Memphis but you can tell all anyone cares about is Randy Savage. Next, Jerry Lawler appears, and the fans are eager to hear what he has to say. Jerry Lawler: First of all, I want to clarify that Eddie Marlin demanded that I stay in the back during all that Savage crap we just saw. He said that if anything happened to Savage, there was a good chance that both the CWA and I would be sued by that lunatic as he is not a CWA wrestler… and trust me… the anger that has been inside of me since Last Stand and the fact that Savage cost me the World Title… he would have been hurt! Now Savage was running around here talking about who we cheated his father out a chance to be with the CWA…. We didn’t cheat that criminal Angelo Poffo out of nothing. He ran a two-bit organization that was trying to steal our fans in Kentucky and when he failed he wanted us to bail him out. Not Going To Happen Buddy! Now as far as Bluegrass Championship Wrestling and Bret Prentice… they did things the right way. They came to us. They told us what they could do for us and how we could help them. They did everything with class, and I look forward to working with them for a long time. Remember the key word … class… and as far as what you just saw… Savage… his father… their time in Kentucky… ALL CLASSLESS! And as for the classless…. They can go out with the garbage… and the garbage is just where I plan on putting Randy Savage when Eddie Marlin gives me the go-ahead! Lance Russell: Thanks for clearing that all up King. And I’m sure I speak for all the fans here in Memphis, we never thought for a minute you were afraid of Savage. Folks, as a result of the attack you just saw on the Batten brothers, they are in no shape to wrestle tonight so were are just going to get to our second match. MATCH #2 The Undertaker with Paul Bearer vs The Italian Stallion While the Italian Stallion has always been a decent mid-card guy, there was nothing he could do to slow down the Undertaker. It is his combination of power, agility and size that seem to make him unstoppable. In the end, we see the tombstone piledriver and the Italian Stallion lays motionless as the ref completes the three-count. Another eerie post-match interview has Paul Bear in his high pitched, slow speaking voice wondering who will be the next wrestler to meet their maker… um, I mean the Undertaker. As Paul Bearer and the Undertaker leave, Lance Russell stutters his way though introducing his next guest… the new Tri-State Champion, Dirty Dutch Mantel Lance Russell: Dutch, you never seem to amaze me. Dutch Mantell: Well I am pretty amazing and thank you for your congratulations on me winning this Tri-State Title. Lance Russell: That’s not what I meant. I amazed that you find a new way to cheat your way to victory each time. Dutch Mantel: I have no idea what your talking about but I would expect nothing less of you Lance. I defeat Brad Armstrong just like a said I would. I win this title just like I said you would and then you accuse me of cheating just like I knew you would. Lance Russell: Accuse you… It’s a fact! Take a look at the video. VTR: . Dutch whipped Brad Armstrong right into the ref and down went the ref. As Brad went to check on him, it appeared that Dutch pulled something out of his trunks and put it in his right hand… WHAM…. Dutch with the loaded fist knocks Brad down and he is basically out…. The ref starts to struggle to his feet. Dutch tossed the object into the crowd. WHAM… Dutch with a powerslam. The ref thinks nothing else has happened as the two appear to be wrestling. WHAM…. Running elbow drop on Armstrong. The cover…. 1…2…3! When the video ends, we see that Lance has brought out a small boy of about 9 years old who is holding a metal object which he claims was thrown by Dutch Mantell at Last Stand the other day. The object is solid iron and Lance Russell says that somebody could knock out a bull with this thing. Dutch really turns up the heat on the boy and wonders how someone so young could be so good at lying. He blames it all on bad parenting and actually puts a finger in the boy’s chest and tells him that he should take him out to the old woodshed and paddle his behind. The boy starts to cry and Dutch lets him know that tears don’t work on him and if he better tell the truth if he knows what’s good for him. WHAM… from behind Brad Armstrong is all over Dutch. The boy, still crying runs for cover as Brad gives Dutch another few blows before the Dirty Dutchmen runs off too. Lance and Brad are shaking their heads as Brad promises a different outcome when he gets his rematch against Dutch! Lance also takes the time to wish him luck against The Dirty White Boy later tonight. COMMERCIAL BREAL As we come out of break, we see a video of guest referee Jimmy Golden turning on the Freebirds and helping the Studd Stable regain the Southern Tag Team belts. When the video is over, Lance Russell is shaking his head in disgust at the actions of Jimmy Golden who was supposed to be an impartial referee. This brings out The Studd Stable, Robert Fuller and Sid Eudy, along with Jimmy Golden and they are laughing it up having a good time at the expense of the Freebirds. Fuller and Golden can’t believe how dumb the Freebirds actually to believe that Jimmy would actually side with them instead of his own family in Robert Fuller. Next, the truth comes out that the reason Sid Eudy replaced Jimmy Golden in the Studd Stable was that Golden was injured and needed time to mend but now that he is all healed up, they can’t wait to use the Freebird rule to make sure they keep these Southern Tag Titles a long, long time. MATCH #3 Cousin Jr. vs “The Professor” Bill Ash The arrogant professor, Bill Ash enters the ring first and takes the house mic to insult the “stupidity” of all the fans as he brags about how smart he really is. Next, we hear the banjos start to play as Cousin Junior shuffles his way to the ring showing some great agility for a man his size as well as great “dancing” ability. The Professor goes a bit to far to point out how Cousin Jr. seems to fit right in here! Cousin Jr. turns his focus to Ash and quickly mule kicks his way to victory and we see the same hoedown as he exits the ring. Lance Russell seemed to really enjoy the show as do Jeff Jarrett and Miss. Tennessee who are at the podium where Miss. Tennessee focuses on Missy Hyatt who she is sick and tired of interfering in Eddie Gilbert’s matches. JJ, the Southern Heavyweight Champion, is also tired of Eddie Gilbert’s tactics also points out that sometimes good just wins out of evil as he has now beaten Eddie Gilbert 3 times in a row! After the match, the Freebirds are at the podium where there are real upset at themselves for trusting Jimmy Golden. Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin want the Studd Stable in the ring no matter which two they have to face as they believe the Southern Tag Team Titles were stolen from them. When asked by Lance Russell if they have spoken to Buddy Roberts in the past week, post just kind of scoff like he’s dead to them. COMMERCIAL BREAL As we come out of the break, Dustin Rhodes is at the podium, and he is real disappointed that he couldn’t do enough at Last Stand to keep Sgt. Slaughter here in the CWA but he thanks him for his help. When asked what he thought about the tactics of Tojo and Tarzan Goto at Last Stand, Dustin simply shakes his head in frustration as he knew what to expect from those two but it still makes him sick to his stomach that they bad mouth the United States every chance they get but they stick around to earn our American dollars. Dustin vowed to send Tarzan back to Japan and if he needs to get someone to watch his back from Tojo, he knows just the person. MATCH Dustin Rhodes defeats The Assassin with the Running Bulldog After the match, Jimmy Hart and the entire First Family are with Lance Russell. Jimmy is real proud of himself that he was able to go down to the Cajundome for Last Stand with the UWF tag team champions where Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Honky Tonk Man once again put Hacksaw Reed and Ron Simmons in there place. When Lance reminded Jimmy that his team lost the match because of his interference, Jimmy points out that coming home as the champions doesn’t sound like losing to him. Lance then turns the conversation towards Eddie Gilbert who once again failed to win the Southern Heavyweight Title against Jeff Jarrett, Jimmy Hart, Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert all throw a tantrum about the outside interference by Miss. Tennessee. Lance pretends to be confused and says so, its okay when Jimmy Hart interferes but it is wrong when someone interferes with The First Family. Hart quickly answered “that’s right” before he realized he put his foot in his mouth. Hart quickly changes the subject and says that he has an answer for Miss. Tennessee anytime she dares to interfere with Family Business again. COMMERCIAL BREAK MAIN EVENT Brad Armstrong vs The Grappler The problems started early in this one as both Grapplers came to the ring and this seemed more like a handicap match then a singles match. Somehow, Brad was able to withstand the dirty tactics and had the momentum. The Grappler managed to roll out of the ring where the real trickery started as the “fresh” Grappler rolled himself into the ring. WHAM… The new Grappler with a knee to Armstrong. WHAM… Powerbomb by the Grappler…. The second Grappler had wondered over to the podium and corrected Lance…”Don’t you mean a Bucksnort Blaster! Suddenly the Grappler in the ring removes his mask and it’s the Dirty White Boy who has not been seen in the CWA since Thanksgiving when Brad won the Tri-State Title and the DWB was suspended for using a loaded forearm. Next, Grappler #2 removes his mask and its none other than Dutch Mantel. Now it is a 2-1 beatdown. After a pretty good beating on Brad they head over to the podium where the Dirty White Boy announces that the only thing better then the Dirty White Boy is the Dirty White Boy and Dirty Dutch!! Lance is just shaking his head as he signs off for the week, “Until next time, so long from Memphis.”
  25. Really enjoyed the sow. The format was easy to follow and the way you used Jim Ross was so realistic! Great job. Looking forward to working with you in the USWA!
