This Week In Wrestling 3/20/16
I'll have to say I agree with Johnny about the mouth guards but I have the opposite take away in that if wrestling companies are going to refuse to enforce the closed fist rule every wrestler should be wearing a mouth guard to explain how anyone still has teeth. IIRC the story line was that Stephanie slapped Brie after he had been fired and was a "fan" sitting in the front row that's why should was able to sue to get her job back

All Japan Excite Series #16
Akiyama is great very clearly he's curse by living in the shadows of workers that were seen as all time legends during there prime runs but anything other than improved houses and more 5 star classics were going to be seen as failure by Akiyama whole Tana and Nak were seen as building up from the ashes of Inokism so any up tick is seen as success for them. Is this fair? No. Is it even correct? Probably not but, it's pretty obvious why people would see it that way even if Akiyama had the better career and is more talented. There is an argument in here to say that wrestling bussiness much like any financial market is prone to ebbs and flows that shouldn't be placed squarely on the shoulders of who's is seen as the "top guy" of the day because Akiyama does not deserve all the blame for riding a wave down the same that Tana doesn't deserve all the credit for riding one upward. The real point is Akiyama top 10 all time worker? Maybe. Although I could say that if most people aren't passionate enough to say for sure yes or no about a wrestler as an all time great then they probably arent.

I also just watched Kobashi v Akiyama last night and while I felt Akiyama was clearly a game participant if not even the better performer but, the bigger take away was more that Kobashi was even at this point clearly not a "ring general" to the degree of his contemporaries. I've at times refereed to Kobashi as the dumb muscle of the pillars and at times when he in called upon to lead a match he really doesn't have as much substance other than big athletic bomb throwing. The argument for Akiyama as an all time great worker is strong based solely on his in-ring but I question if wrestling is an art form that can be seen as so subjective that we can except that a top 10 all time great worker can be "not appreciated in his time" like with more traditional arts or if wrestling with its tight roots in carney/bussiness we can say someone is that level of all time worker without ever really connecting with a crowd in a way that causes them to emotionally and financially invest in them

Pivotshare is great because they seem to automatically make a Roku channel for the services and those work very well but the player is absolute rubbish on browser so it's a double edged sword, similarly YouTube is great on browser but the player controls suck on Roku actually Vemo is actually the best on both Roku and browser with the best system of linking your acct across platforms unfortunately they seem to only offer a VOD model with no subscription option as of yet. So in closing I agree with your point it's just no one has perfected it yet.

Any chance Parv can do a list of the top 100 GWE Ballots?

I'm fine with that too but how will you deal with accounting for the fact that ties will make it so in the end it's not a listen of 100 names? Like will a tie take up 2 places or in the end will it just be 104 people are the 100 greatest wrestlers ever?

This was exactly my point I think using the average score out of all ballots turned in not just ballots each wrestler appear on would be the best way it accounts for no only the wrestlers average ranking but also their overall standing with all voters sure it may be unfair to some wrestlers from underrepresented regions but, the voting in general isn't set up to protect for that as is because balloting isn't segregated into voting regions/blocks ala WON HOF voting. If you use average score of all ballots you will end up with a tie again. if both wrestlers got say 200 points and you divide that by the total number of ballots the tie will not be broken Yeah I'm saying to not use the weighted point system for the tie breaker so a #1 rank = 100 points and a #100 rank = 1 point and so on then a non-rank = 0 points then average based on all ballots

Daniel Bryan
I actually agree with this towards the end of his WWE run Bryan at times worked entire matches as if they were hot tags missing a lot of the subtle stuff that had made me love him over the years he became repetitive in a way that was very obvious but it's hard to blame anyone for dumbing down, for lack of a better term, their style while working the WWE schedule

Originally NJPWworld blocked screen paring to Roku but not anymore so if you have a phone or tablet that you can screen cast to your Roku with it's now a lot easier to watch NJPW on the tv it's still a little glitchy I find it only really works if nothing else in on the Wifi so half the time I still just watch on Dailymotion but, it's a step in the right directions Aslo IWL (Insane Wrestling League) have a Roku channel and streaming service.

Monster Factory school also has a streaming service called the MF network

Would the average vote be out of all ballots or only out of the ballots in which they are ranked? Because if you made it highest average vote out of all turned in ballots (ballots they don't appear in are considered giving them 0 points) then that would actually account for both appearing on the most ballots and the average ranking at the same time.

Shoe's ongoing MOTYC for 2016
I'm only just starting to be okay with Kodaka because of how upset I got from him winning the title from Sakaguchi but, this match is pretty great don't know if I can say MOTYC though maybe still just my bias.

Declan is becoming more common here but as of right now it's kind of the stereotypical WASP name a la mode

Shoe's ongoing MOTYC for 2016
This match was amazing live Gulak has never once disappointed in PWG and Thatcher is secretly the best facial seller I all of wrestling but it goes unnoticed because people think of him as a hardass. Can't wait for the rewatch on this one
