  1. Twin States is still looking to move Kamala.
  2. GeneJackson95 replied to spaldoni's topic in Programming
Twin States is super excited to be a part of Wrestlestorm 2 and I think the Violent Gentlemen vs. Armstrong/Cooley will be a great sample of Twin States for the USWA fans. Great debut for the Devil's Duo, I think having Goldie Rogers as their mouthpiece will serve them well. Ayala vs. Morgan is going to be off the chain....or on the chain....I apologize...lol. Looking forward to their big match Wrestlestorm! Great promos with some strong visuals to promote Singh vs. Colon....this one is going to be brutal! Bulldog Mike George is coming for the Elite...and he's got back up....this should be interesting to see who he's got! Leave it to Dr. Dream Machine to super old school with the classic "tar and feathers" on Slater....as if this one couldn't get anymore personal....this match might steal the show at Wrestlestorm! Wow, once again Doring says nothing, yet makes a big statement towards Bassarab. HAHAHA....another perfect Terry Funk promo/exhibition....the heat continues to build for this huge cage match with Lawler! Loved the Lawler promo as just like Funk's, I could hear Lawler's voice in my head saying every word! Oliver/Borne get a little revenge on The Richs with the axe handles....but I'm sure the Richs have something up their sleeve when they face off at Wrestlestorm. Well well well....look who made the trip from Texas....the Gunslingers fresh off that wild main event on tv this week and they get the win over the tag champs, the Karachi Vice! I'm sure beating these guys right out of the gate has gotten them over with the USWA fans who will be pulling for them to take the straps at Wrestlestorm! Another great TV building towards the big event....on to Cook Convention Center! Sweet Brown Sugar gets a nice win building momentum to his tv title match! The battles rage on with the Red Dragons and the Magnificent Ones! Mr. Pro/the Vin Man sneak a win over big Moose....but he gets the last laugh The Technicians get a much needed win over the Samoans....who may have hell to pay with Lelani Kai afterwards Sunny War Cloud just can't seem to get the better of Timothy Flowers and hang on to his head dress.....I'm looking forward to seeing how this one plays out Morrow/Dream/Doring score the win thanks to the resourcefulness of Dr. Dream! The King puts down the "Master of Disaster" on the road to facing his nemesis Terry Funk Another fun card that keeps building towards the big show!
  3. The Texas Television is going to be a great addition and Brian Adias advances over Smirnoff to kick off the show! Nice of Jack Victory to boycott television this week in a show of solidarity for his buddies who lost their jobs....looking forward to Victory vs. Adias in the 2nd round I'm with Spaldoni, Akbar makes a convincing argument here about what happened last week, Mr. Ebony should really watch where he's going....I'm sure Akbar will have an interesting version of this event as well lol. This should be a hard hitting match with these two! What an awesome debut for Dark Journey and "Hollywood" John Tatum! I look forward to hearing what Tatum has to say about the Texas fans in the coming weeks. What a main event, and 'El Jefe' shows Sunshine why he's the boss right off the bat...what a great way to start the match and put even more heat on Estrada! What a wild match as we eventually see Sunshine, Cocoa Samoa, and Dory Funk Jr all involved. That's one thing I always liked about Sunshine....she didn't just stand in the corner and clap like Liz, when shit went down she got right in the middle of it to help her man.....and she did it again here and paid for it once by getting pushed down by Estrada but luckily before Dory could piledriver her...the calvary arrived in the form of Johnny Mantell! The Gunslingers have got each other's back....I for one would love to see The Gunslingers vs. Dory/Estrada at some point soon. Great show as always! The momentum continues to build each week!
  4. Twin States Wrestling Episode #18 Airing on: Saturday November 14, 1985 Taped on: Wednesday November 11, 1985 at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama airing on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of Twin States Wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Twin States Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from across Alabama and Mississippi sanctioned by the USWA", we then go to the new set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome to the Boutwell Auditorium, here in Birmingham, Alabama for another episode of Twin States Wrestling, I'm Charlie Platt alongside my co-host the one and only Ronnie P. Gossett." RPG: "Well, here we are out of the studio and in Birmingham, Alabama where I can only hope my car isn't being broken into and vandalized right now as we speak." Platt: "Birmingham is a wonderful city and I'm not worried about my vehicle but if I had the reputation you have, I too would be concerned. However, enough about that…right now I want to welcome Jerry Jarrett and Les Thatcher out here as we start the program." (Jerry Jarrett and Les Thatcher come out on to the set) Jarrett: "It's a pleasure to be here in Alabama….and I'm proud to be a part of Twin States Wrestling." Thatcher: "We're glad to have you here Jerry and let's get right down to business." Jarrett: "Well…the first thing I wanna announce is we'll be right back here at the Boutwell Auditorium on Thanksgiving night for a big event, Thanksgiving Thunder! We'll have more details on the card throughout the program but the first thing I need to let everyone know is that due to his injuries suffered at the hands of Kamala on two different occasions, today is the last day for Bob Armstrong to defend the Gulf Coast championship or else he'll have to forfeit the title due to the thirty day rule. So, with that in mind….our first match here on television tonight is going to be a twenty five man battle royal with the winner challenging Bob Armstrong for the Gulf Coast championship in tonight's main event!" Platt: "Wow, that's quite an announcement, Mr. Jarrett." Jarrett: "Please, call me Jerry. I also want to announce that Twin States will be represented at the huge USWA event, Wrestlestorm 2 as the Twin States Tag Team titles will be on the line as The Violent Gentlemen will defend the titles against top contenders Brad Armstrong and 'Wildcat' Wendell Cooley. But right now, You'll be seeing some new USWA talent making their Twin States debut in the battle royal tonight so, let's get down to the ring and see who will face 'Bullet' Bob in the main event!" ==================== MATCH #1: Battle Royal for a shot at the Gulf Coast Heavyweight Championship in tonight's Main Event "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer The Spoiler "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant Brett Sawyer Jerry Brisco Big Bubba Lord Humongous Lance Von Erich TNT Dirty Rhodes Wendell Cooley The Assassin #1 The Assassin #2 "Sadistic" Steve Strong Norvell Austin Angel of Death Larry Hamilton The Texas Ranger Bill Ash Jimmy Golden Robert Fuller Bill Dundee George Barnes Kamala Eliminations Bill Ash eliminated by The Texas Ranger Larry Hamilton eliminated by Buzz Sawyer Brett Sawyer eliminated by Norvell Austin The Assassin #2 eliminated Lance Von Erich Angel of Death eliminated by Norvell Austin Jimmy Golden eliminated by Jimmy Garvin Jimmy Garvin eliminated by Robert Fuller/George Barnes Robert Fuller eliminated by The Texas Ranger Bill Dundee eliminated by Wendell Cooley George Barnes eliminated by Wendell Cooley Wendell Cooley eliminated by Kamala Norvell Austin eliminated by Buzz Sawyer Buzz Sawyer eliminated by Lance Von Erich Lance Von Erich by The Spoiler Jimmy Valiant eliminated by Kamala The Spoiler was eliminated by The Texas Ranger The Texas Ranger eliminated by Big Bubba Jerry Brisco eliminated by Kamala Assassin #1 eliminated by Big Bubba Steve Strong eliminated by Dirty Rhodes Dirty Rhodes eliminated by Kamala TNT eliminated by Lord Humongous Big Bubba eliminated by Kamala/Lord Humongous Lord Humongous eliminated by Kamala **WINNER** Kamala As Ron Wright and Friday start to escort Kamala from ringside, 'For the love of money' plays and "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie, Mr. Moffat, and Frank Morrell meet them in the aisle. Fergie is talking to Wright when Morrell opens a brief case full of money and shows Ron Wright who smiles wide and shakes Fergie's hand and quickly takes the case and tucks it under his arm, Wright goes over to ring announcer Rick Stewart and takes the mic and states Kamala would like to let it be known that he has surrendered his Gulf Coast Championship match tonight against Bob Armstrong to our new good friend and business associate, Carl Fergie. ======================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================= Platt: "I can't believe what we just witnessed before the break, Kamala won the battle royal to get a Gulf Coast title shot tonight against his rival 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong and now Ron Wright has essentially sold it to 'Mr. Money' Carl Fergie and I don't know if this is even allowed or if Kamala understands what just happened." RPG: "Of course it's allowed Charlie Platt and that was a business transaction and it's nobodies business but Kamala and Carl Ferigie's. Ron Wright watches out for Kamala's best interests…..the reason you want to be a champion is to make money, if your able to cut out the middle man and go straight to the money, why wouldn't Kamala be ok with that? Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go talk to my friend Johnny V who has a huge announcement to make!" ("Luscious" Johnny V joins Ronnie P. Gossett at the interview location) RPG: "Right now I want to welcome out a great friend of mine and one of the greatest managers in the wrestling business today, 'Luscious' Johnny Valiant." JV: "Thank you Ronnie, you know things haven't exactly been going my way lately…last week Fuller and Golden walked out on me….then Jimmy Garvin walked out on me and left me to nearly have my legs broken by that crazy Indian, Jerry Brisco and my idiot brother, Jimmy Valiant. Well all three of those guys that walked out on me can keep walking….in fact they can all three walk off a cliff as far as I'm concerned! When things like that happen Ronnie, a guy has two choices….sit around and cry and complain about it……or move forward and find somebody better…..well, it just so happens last week I got a phone call from a friend of mine named Jack Victory, he said "Hey Luscious Donnie", he's terrible with names but a great wrestler and a great judge of talent…..he tells me that his two best friends just got railroaded by that mongoloid goof Frank Dusek down in Texas and now they need a new opportunity so I've signed them to a contract and they are getting ready to make their debut here tonight!" RPG: "But I hear that's not all, Johnny." JV: "Nope….I got another phone call from another great wrestler who said he wants to come here to Twin States and take that USWA Southern Junior Heavyweight championship from Scott Armstrong…and that man's name is 'Flamboyant' Eric Embry! Let's bring those guys out right now, Ronnie!" ("Do ya think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart plays as The Fabulous Blondes- Chick Donavan and Steve Regal strut their way out to the set followed by Eric Embry) RPG: "Guys, welcome to Twin States Wrestling." Donovan: "You are looking at the greatest tag team in the world along with the greatest junior heavyweight wrestler in the world, we're changing the game here in Twin States!" Regal: "That’s right Frank Dusek is an idiot and he will regret the day he fired us when he sees us wearing all the tag team gold here in the USWA….we're putting everyone on notice right now….if you wearing a gold belt around your waist….it belongs to the Fabulous Blondes!" Embry: "You've seen the rest….now you're seeing the best, and there's still more to come…this isn't all of us." RPG: "So, there are more members coming soon?" Embry: "You'll find out soon enough, Mr. Gossett…..by the way, I have a question for you, what's better than gold?" RPG: "Platinum?" Embry: "That's right….and that's why you can call this group, the Platinum Club!" RPG: "Platinum Club? I like it!" JV: "Enough talk boys…..let's show them what you're all about! Eric, you'll get a chance a little later to show Scott Armstrong why he better shine that belt up and get ready to kiss it goodbye!" ------------------------------------- MATCH #2: The Fabulous Blondes (Chic Donovan/Steve Regal) w/Luscious Johnny V & Eric Embry defeated Eddie Wilson/Rick Havoc when Regal pinned Wilson after hitting a double 'hot shot' across the top rope ========================== A promo airs promoting 'Thanksgiving Thunder' on Thanksgiving night in Birmingham featuring Brett/Buzz Sawyer challenging The Dynamite Duo to a 'Double Dog Collar, Losers Leave Town' match for the show which is accepted by Austin/Hamilton! ========================== MATCH #3: The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated George South/Dr. X when Davis pinned South after a legdrop off the top rope Post match: The Nightmares say they were the first Twin States tag team champions and they never got a fair rematch for the titles after the Violent Gentlemen took the titles from them and they want a rematch…..and they want it soon! ========================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== (Joe Pedicino welcomes the new Twin States Champion Mr. Olympia out to the interview area) Pedicino: "Mr. Olympia, let me be the first to say welcome to Twin States Wrestling and congratulations on your huge title win over the Mongolian Stomper last week!" Olympia: "Thank you Joe, I know Stomper and Don Carson are raising hell about me coming out of nowhere to win the championship, but that's the risk you take when you think you're big and bad and you issue an open challenge the way they did. But hey, he's the former champion and he gets a rematch…and he deserves a rematch and Les Thatcher has signed that rematch for Thanksgiving Thunder. So, that's where the Stomper will get his rematch. However, I'm looking forward to making my television debut right here next week and from what I understand I'll be facing the man who nearly won that battle royal earlier tonight, Lord Humongous." Pedicino: "We certainly look forward to seeing that match next week and we wish you the best of luck in that rematch with the Mongolian Stomper." Olympia: "I appreciate it, Joe and I look forward to holding this title for a real long time and making the fans of Twin States Wrestling proud to have me as their champion!" ========================== MATCH #4: "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Luscious Johnny V pinned Roy Lee Welch after a piledriver ========================= (As Embry is leaving the ring, Ronnie Gossett is asking Charlie Platt on commentary if he's heard the news that the bounty has been doubled on Blackjack Mulligan and it's now $20,000 to anyone that can injure the big man to the point of ending his wrestling career/Mulligan comes storming out to the set) BJM: "You know something tubby, how is it that YOU always seem to have all the inside information on this bounty…..makes me wonder if you aren't the one behind it!" RPG: "Like I would waste twenty thousand dollars or even ten thousand dollars on you, Mulligan….the reason I have the inside scoop is because people who matter know I'm the only person on this show that has a clue and that can make sure this information is out there….for those who want to collect." BJM: "Well that's just fine fat boy, I'm going to step into that ring down there and whoever wants to could try and collect that money can come and try it!" ========================= MATCH #5: Blackjack Mulligan defeated "Sadistic" Steve Strong by DQ when Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden hit the ring trying to collect the bounty but Mulligan was saved by JIMMY GARVIN! After the match, Garvin says he's looking for some revenge on Fuller and Golden and now it looks like Blackjack is too……Garvin says, "How about next week we team up to take those two on….right here on television?" Mulligan thought it over for a second….and replied, "Hell, why not…..but if you double cross me Garvin….you'll be sorry!" Garvin nodded in agreement and headed by up the aisle ========================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== MATCH #6 MAIN EVENT Gulf Coast Heavyweight Championship "Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie w/Mr. Moffat & Frank Morrell After Fergie made his grand entrance, 'Bad to the Bone' played as the "Bullet Bob" made his way down the aisle…..before Armstrong made it into the ring, he was jumped from behind by Friday…..Armstrong quickly turned the tide and made a comeback on Friday but was soon attacked from behind by Kamala! Kamala worked over Armstrong before ramming him head first into the ringpost and Friday then grabbed Armstrong and rolled him into the ring…..bleeding from the forehead. As Armstrong grabs the ropes and struggles to get to his feet, the referee asked him if he would like to forfeit, Armstrong motioned no and said to "ring the bell"…..the referee reluctantly complied and the match was underway. Fergie charged across the ring and quickly went on the attack….he worked Armstrong over for a few minutes but as the crowd started to rumble…..'Bullet' Bob started to make a comeback……he fired up with rights and lefts and started to have Fergie in trouble and finally locked Fergie in a sleeperhold…..before he could get cinched in tight, Mr. Moffat jumped on the apron causing not only the referee but Armstrong to come over to get him off the apron……as they were both distracted, Morrell slid something across the mat to Fergie who slid it into his right knee sleeve……as Moffat finally got down off the apron, Armstrong turned around into a kick in the gut from Fergie followed by a running knee lift aka 'the payoff' with the loaded knee sleeve, Fergie covers and hooked the leg for the 1-2-3!! "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie is the new Gulf Coast Heavyweight Champion!! Platt: "Unbelievable! Carl Fergie has stolen the Gulf Coast championship right here on television!" RPG: "Stole it?? What match were you watching?? He just pinned Bob Armstrong clean after the 'pay off'!" Platt: "Oh it was a 'pay off' alright….from paying off Ron Wright to buy Kamala's title match to having Kamala attack him before the match….to having his two stooges interfere…that was absolutely disgraceful!" RPG: "You have no proof he paid Kamala to attack on Armstrong, I'm sure that was a freebie just because Kamala owed Armstrong for that stunt he pulled kidnapping Friday and stealing his clothes last week!" Platt: "That's all the time we have this week, tune in next week as Blackjack Mulligan teams with Jimmy Garvin to take on Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden, and we'll also see the Twin States Champion Mr. Olympia in action, and we'll hear from the USWA World Heavyweight Champion Jerry 'the King' Lawler!" © 1985 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions
  5. Todd Champion and I withdraw from the draft.
  6. Twin States picks Downtown Bruno and Ray Odyssey
  7. I was watching some old Memphis wrestling tonight and realized manager Downtown Bruno is not on anyone's roster, is it too late to add him to the draft? According to Cagematch he started in 1984.
  8. Twin States chooses David Haskins aka Davey Rich.
  9. It's your turn to pick, bud
  10. It's a swerve, bro!

Whoah! Right out of the gate this week we've got Carlos Colon challenging Tiger Jeet Singh to a Caribbean Death Match at Wrestlestorm....that's going to be a bloodbath for sure! Singh destroys his opponent and quickly lets us know he's accepting the challenge of Colon....you have to suspect a guy that brandishes a sword in a wrestling ring is gonna be all about a death match of any sort! The RPMs seem ready for the tournament on Thanksgiving, but then again so do Pork Chop and the Snowman....it's going to be an interesting tournament to say the least. Wow, the Elite take out Bulldog Bob Brown......looks like Gagne's mean streak is getting even more intense...I like it! DJ Peterson gets a win and some revenge on Gerry Morrow.....I agree with the comment that Kevin made on my show......Morrow and "Mr. Money" need to meet at some point.....they could eventually team up as "High Society" or some such LOL. Sweet Brown Sugar's momentum continues to build as he's been hand picked for a TV title shot at Wrestlestorm.....this might come back to bite Thornton/St. Clair! I've been quietly waiting for Dream Machine to show up on the Beauty Shop and it did not disappoint! Uh-oh, Dick Slater is back and he's not amused....Dr. Dream is going to have to dig deep into his Doctor's bag of tricks to retain that Central States title! I'm interested to see what team from Texas comes to challenge the champions....the Karachi Vice has no shortage of confidence but there's some tough teams in Texas All-Star right now! Awesome demonstration by Funk of what he plans to do to Lawler in that cage.....that one is going to be brutal!! The Richs continue to get the better of Rip Oliver and Matt Borne but those guys are dangerous and I suspect at some point they are going to turn this all around on Tommy and Johnny. The card for Wrestlestorm is STACKED....and more still to come! Can't wait for this one!! on to Rupp Arena.... Great debut for Mr. Pro with a win over Moose Flowers seems to be digging his hole deeper and deeper......or is he pushing Sunny War Cloud so far over the edge that ends up being to his advantage?? Magnificent Ones get a win over the Dragons.....looks like The Magnificent Ones/Vin Man/Mr. Pro might be a formidable stable here! The Duke gets a win over Sivi Afi but I'm sure this is far from over! Big six man tag match.....the RPMs and Ayala makes for a strange visual but an effective team Corp gets a win but Markoff still comes out on top and nearly starts a riot! The Main Event sees two more strange but entertaining pairings and Sugar gets a pinfall on the TV champ.....Thornton may have made a big mistake given Skip the title shot
  15. The Gold Dust Trio causing Marc Lowrance to lose his cool is a great way to start the show....I find their complete indifference towards the well being of Kat Leroux amusing...lol. The Glamour Boys get a big win over the Blonds and then get the big news they're getting a rematch with the Highwaymen for the titles next month with no countouts and no disqualifications which may or may not work in their favor....looking forward to that one! USWA World Champion is coming to Texas for Season's Beatings....this is already a must see show! The Texas Ranger is coming along nicely.....I hope to see him featured in the TV title tournament as it unfolds. LOVED the Mike Miller/Killer Brooks promo....these guys make a great team and the line from Miller about the names he's not called such as "Your Good Buddy" Mike Miller literally made me laugh out loud! While I'm huge fan of Terry Funk and always have been, I don't think Dory Funk Jr gets the credit he deserves sometimes at least from fans who didn't see him in his heyday as champion. I look forward to seeing him challenge Scott Casey the the Texas All Star Championship and hope to see him makes his way to Twin States sooner or later. I'm not going to lie....I never expected to be this entertained by Jose Estrada but the "El Jefe" character is over with me...and I love how he's just rubbing EVERYBODY wrong that he encounters each week. Jack Victory advances in the tournament thanks to his buddies....but ol' "Fred" ain't havin' none of that shit tonight....the Blonds get fired! Wow, Dusek laying the law and setting a huge precedent for the other heels in the territory showing he's not messing around! Let's hope the Blonds find a decent home! Great show! looking forward to Casey vs. El Jefe next week!
  16. Twin States Wrestling Houston County Farm Center Dothan, Alabama Saturday November 7, 1985 Bell Time: 7:30pm Bill Ash vs. Shane Douglas Before the bell can ring to start the match, 'For the love of money' by the O'Jays plays as Carl Fergie and company make their way down the aisle, Fergie is wearing a black robe with gold sequins that would make Ric Flair blush that says 'FERGIE' in gold on the back. Frank Morrell goes over to the ring announcer and hands him an envelope and gives him some instructions, as Fergie is seen slipping some cash to Bill Ash who counts it and then smiles big and slips it into his trunks and exits the ring, Mr. Moffat backs the referee into a corner as seems to be telling him something very sternly as the ring announcer says, "There's a substitution tonight as 'Mr. Money' Carl Fergie will be taking the place of Bill Ash in our opening bout." Fergie removes the robe to reveal green trunks that say 'Mr. Money' across the back in white. "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie w/Frank Morrell & Mr. Moffat pinned Shane Douglas after a running knee lift that he calls, 'the payoff'! Angel of Death/"Sadistic" Steve Strong w/Ron Wright defeated Chris/Mark Youngblood when Strong pinned Chris Youngblood after a running powerslam USWA Southern Jr. Heavyweight Championship Scott Armstrong pinned TNT w/Don Carson following a superkick SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH The Dynamite Duo (Larry Hamilton/Norvell Austin) defeated Brett/Buzz Sawyer w/Ron Wright when Austin pinned Brett with a school boy roll up! The fans erupted! So did Buzz Sawyer as he blasted Norvell from behind with the chain as the referee was raising his hand, he then clotheslined Larry Hamilton with it as he attempted to run in the ring…..the Sawyers beat down the Dynamite Duo and left them laying in the ring EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM MATCH Jerry Brisco/Jimmy Valiant/The Nightmares defeated Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden/Jimmy Garvin/Luscious Johnny V when Brisco made Johnny Valiant submit to the figure four leglock after Fuller and Golden walked in the middle of the match after a shouting match with Garvin, who then later walked out while Johnny V was submitting to the figure four $10,000 Bounty Match Blackjack Mulligan vs. Kamala w/Friday & Ron Wright Before the match, Ron Wright came down to the ring and said that he's having trouble getting Kamala down to the ring for the match because Friday as gone missing and no one can find him…..Wright heads back up the aisle…..Mulligan makes his way to the ring and after a few minutes Wright finally re-emerges with Kamala reluctantly in tow……after a couple of more minutes of Wright pleading with Kamala to get in the ring and Kamala looking confused, Mulligan jumps out to the floor and attacks Kamala and throws him into the ring….the bell rings and the match has begun! This is just a hard hitting brawl that goes on for several minutes back and forth until Mulligan backs up to hit the ropes but is tripped by Wright, allowing Kamala to hit a big splash on BJM…..however without Friday there to direct him, Kamala does not cover him for the pin, instead he starts to climb up to the top rope for the really big splash when suddenly Friday finally appears at ringside…..he starts frantically waving his arms in a "NO NO NO" fashion…causing Kamala to stop right as he was getting ready to jump off on Mulligan….Friday gets up on the apron pointing for Kamala to get down off the ropes….Kamala seemingly confused by this is just kind of frozen there as Friday implores him to get down off the ropes…….while this is happening Mulligan has gotten back to his feet, he rushes the corner and manages to SLAM KAMALA off the top turnbuckle…everyone in the arena get on their feet as Mulligan covers…..1….2…3!! Mulligan has pinned Kamala and the fans are thrilled as Mulligan exits the ring, Friday gets in the ring and is met by Ron Wright who shoves him hard, causing Friday to hit Wright with a big right hand knocking him on his ass……Kamala looks shocked as he approaches Friday who then kicks him in the groin and comes around behind him and locks him in a SLEEPERHOLD!! After about a minute Kamala is out! Wright comes at Friday again and he blasts him again laying him out…..Friday then removes his jacket revealing a 'Golds Gym' t-shirt, then removes the mask to reveal….."BULLET" BOB ARMSTRONG!! The crowd goes wild!! SEMI-MAIN EVENT TAG TEAM SOUTHERN STREET FIGHT Brad Armstrong/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley defeated The Violent Gentlemen (Bill Dundee/George Barnes) in wild bloody streetfight when Cooley pinned Barnes after bulldogging him on a steel chair that Dundee had brought into the ring, after the match Cooley grabbed the mic and said that, "NOW we want another shot at those titles!" Barnes and Dundee left ringside with the belts shaking their heads 'no' as the crowd boo'd them all the way down the aisle. MAIN EVENT Twin States Heavyweight Championship Don Carson/The Mongolian Stomper's OPEN CHALLENGE Don Carson and the Mongolian Stomper come down to the ring and Carson starts a long winded promo how the Stomper has beaten Mulligan, Ron Fuller, and everyone else who has crossed his path and that no one who was on this show tonight can beat the Stomper but if there's any wrestler in this building tonight that wants a try…..here's your chance for title match….right here…..right now! The crowd is stirring when suddenly a shiny head can be seen coming down the aisle as they get closer to the ring the fans can see it's an old favorite that hasn't been seen in this area in over a year…..MR. OLYMPIA!! Olympia steps into the ring and before he can get his ring jacket off the Stomper charges him! The bell rings and this title match is off and running, Stomper hits him with some clubbing forearms and then backs Olympia into the ropes and shoots him off….Stomper ducks down to give him a backdrop when out of nowhere, Olympia hits him with a DDT!! Olympia quickly hooks both legs for a 1-2-3!!! Mr. Olympia has won the Twin States Championship in his debut without even getting his ring jacket off!! He rolls out of the ring as the ring announcer hands him the belt and he goes out into the crowd to celebrate as Don Carson is losing his mind in the ring and the Stomper is holding his head struggling to get back to his feet.
  17. Twin States Wrestling Episode #17 Saturday November 7, 1985 From the WTVY Ch. 4 Studio in Dothan, Alabama airing LIVE at Noon on WTVY Channel 4 and on tape on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi at various times Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of Twin States Wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Twin States Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from across Alabama and Mississippi sanctioned by the USWA", we then go to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello wrestling fans and welcome to Twin States Wrestling, what a night of action HELLoween was last Saturday night as we saw "Candy Man" Ray Candy lose to Big Bubba and he has been forced to leave the territory, thanks to the loaded black glove of Don Carson." RPG: "Minor details, Platt…..the main thing is Ray Candy will be waddling his way into another promotion now and we won't have to watch his horrible attempt at dancing anymore." Platt: "Well, I happened to enjoy his dancing and the fun he brought to the program, none the less, We'll see a rematch here on television today as the Dynamite Duo of Norvell Austin and Larry Hamilton will take on Ron Wright's team of Steve Strong and the Angel of Death." RPG: "Well I was surprised the Dynamite Duo survived the match last Saturday and I'm confident that Steve Strong and the Angel of Death will put them down for good here today." Platt: "Tensions finally boiled over between Jimmy Golden and Jimmy Garvin, causing Garvin to walk out costing his team the match against Blackjack Mulligan, Jerry Brisco, and Jimmy Valiant." RPG: "Just so you know before you come out here stirring things up, Johnny V being the incredible manager he is…..he let me know when I arrived here today that he has smoothed everything over with the Dream Team and Jimmy Garvin and to prove it they will be in six man tag team action here today on television." Platt: "If you say so, but I'm a bit skeptical myself, speaking of things boiling over….how about that cowardly attack by the Violent Gentlemen on Brad Armstrong and Wendell Cooley after that classic tag team championship match they had?" RPG: "Loved it! I was starting to worry about those two lately but they showed me once again why they are the greatest tag team in pro wrestling today and I'm sure they will have plenty to say about it when they join us here later today." Platt: "There's more to talk about from HELLoween but right now we've got a Ugandan Headhunter headed to the ring so let's go there now." ================= MATCH #1: Handicap Match Kamala w/Friday & Ron Wright pinned Jed Jackson/Leonard Washington after the stacked them on top of each other and came off the top rope with a splash Platt: "I'd like to welcome Joe Pedicino to Twin States Wrestling, let's go to Joe right now who is joined by Ron Wright, Friday, and Kamala." Pedicino: "Ron Wright, Kamala managed to get a win over Bob Armstrong in the Ugandan Death match last week, but 'Bullet' Bob managed to walk out of the arena." Wright: "Bob Armstrong is done….finished….yesterday's news. I'm out here right now to tell you that we're moving on." Pedicino: "I think that may be a little presumptuous to think that one loss is going to do Bob Armstrong in." Wright: "It's not the one loss….it was the THREE splashes that did him in….but enough about that guy. I have set Kamala's sights on someone else…..Kamala is going to make us ten thousand dollars richer by taking out Blackjack Mulligan, tonight at the Houston County Farm Center, Kamala faces Mulligan and he's going to take out Blackjack just like he took out Armstrong." Pedicino: "While I have you here, do you have a comment about the Sawyer's loss to the Nightmares in the steel cage match last week?" Wright: "I tell ya what Mr. wise guy, how about you call Buzz Sawyer out here and ask HIM….if he has any comments about losing to the Nightmares!" (Wright and company storms off) ================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ================= MATCH #2: The Dynamite Duo (Larry Hamilton/Norvell Austin) defeated Angel of Death/"Sadistic" Steve Strong w/Ron Wright when Hamilton pinned AOD with a sunset flip off the top rope As the Dynamite Duo are celebrating their victory with the studio audience, Brett and Buzz Sawyer come storming out to the desk, Buzz Sawyer grabs the mic away from ring announcer Rick Stewart. Buzz: "Listen up punks! You two may have gotten lucky and snuck a win over those two……but you know there's no way in hell you could beat me and my brother here…..so we're issuing a challenge to you two to face us tonight right here in Dothan!" (Joe Pedicino takes a mic over to where Austin/Hamilton are) Norvell: "Buzzy, we may not be Danny Davis and Kenny Wayne…..but if you step in the ring with us….we will be a NIGHTMARE for you, what do you think, Larry?" Hamilton: "A match against the Sawyers? Tonight? Well that sounds DYNAMITE!" (Their Jermaine Jackson 'Dynamite' theme starts playing as the Sawyers are escorted out of the studio by security) ================= Platt: "So, Ronnie….I'm a bit saddened to announce that today will be our last day here in the studio in Dothan as starting next week we'll be doing the television show in the arenas in each week. RPG: "What? I've got to go be around even more of these mouth breathers?" Platt: "Well, that's not a nice way to refer to the Sawyers." RPG: "I was talking about these ignorant fans, Platt!" Platt: "That's uncalled for…..but at any rate…..there's some changes coming here at Twin States, all positive I might add and right now let's go to a VTR of Les Thatcher sitting down with new co-owner Jerry Jarrett at his ranch over in Hendersonville, Tennessee." (VTR- Jerry Jarrett and Les Thatcher are sitting at a conference table, the Gulf Coast Championship belt is sitting in front of them) Thatcher: "Hello Twin States fans, I'm here in Tennessee meeting with Jerry Jarrett discussing some of the exciting changes that are coming for Twin States Wrestling and rather than me telling you all about it, I believe I'll let Jerry tell you." Jarrett: "Thanks Les. Fans we're very excited to do everything we can to bring you the very best wrestling action in the world today. Moving forward you'll not only get the chance to see the great stars of Twin States Wrestling but Twin States will also serve as a showcase for stars from throughout the USWA. Much like in my promotion, I feel we've moved beyond the studio wrestling days so starting next week this television program you're watching right now will be taking place in the arenas across the territory. There will be some very big USWA events coming up in the future and you'll be proud to know that Twin States stars will be featured on these events and you fans will be able to watch the events on closed circuit television at specific locations in your area. I plan on being on hand in Birmingham this Wednesday at the first television tapings and I look forward to seeing many of you there. I'm also working very closely with Les Thatcher to try and find out just who exactly has placed this bounty on Blackjack Mulligan, we've had a similar situation here in the USWA involving Carlos Colon….but we know whose behind that, however we don't know who it is that is trying to take out Blackjack Mulligan but we are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of it." (END VTR) ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #3: Twin States Tag Champions The Violent Gentlemen (Bill Dundee/George Barnes) defeated Randy Watson/Eddie Wilson when Dundee pinned Wilson after a 'Bombs Away' splash from the top rope (Post match: Gossett cuts off Pedicino and heads over to speak to the champs) RPG: "Guys, I just want you to know that Charlie Platt was out here bad mouthing you about what you did to Cooley and Armstrong last week." Dundee: "What is there to complain about? We don't call ourselves the Perfect Gentlemen…..we shook their hands like gentlemen…..and then….we got VIOLENT….you see, Platt…..VIOLENT GENTLEMEN…as advertised, baby!" Barnes: "Platt, you stupid yank! You are as dumb as that wannabe Cowboy and that idiot son of Bob Armstrong….did you all think because we teamed with that Brisco bloke that we were suddenly nice guys? Well that's on you….you stupid Americans! You think everybody has to fit in your simple little 'good guy' or 'bad guy' boxes…..well guess what….we don't care what the fans like….we don't care what the promoters like….and we sure as hell don't care what Charlie Platt likes….we do what we want….when we want….and how we want…..to whoever we want….and the only side we're on is OUR SIDE!" RPG: "Word is that Armstrong and Cooley are demanding a title shot tonight." Dundee: "Demanding a title shot? Who are they to demand anything from the champs? They had their shot last week, they didn't beat us….they go to the back of the line! No title shots for them!" (Armstrong and Cooley make their way out to the interview area as security get between the two teams) Cooley: You know, I'd expect nothing less from a couple of cowards who shake somebody's hand and then attacks them when their backs are turned…..I'll tell you what, at this point those titles are secondary….Brad and I mostly just want a chance to get our hands on you two…..so I'll tell you what…you face us in our kind of match and if we beat you, then we get another title shot…..but if you beat us in our kinda match, we'll never team together again." Dundee: "So no titles on the line…..and WHEN….not IF but WHEN we beat you, you two can never team up ever again? What kinda match?" Armstrong: "Southern Street Fight!" Barnes: (laughing) "You bloody yanks are a special kinda stupid aren't ya? You two want a street fight with us??" Cooley: "Did he stutter, jerk? Yeah, a Southern Street Fight! Do you accept or are you two the cowards you showed yourselves to be last week when you had to jump us from behind!" Dundee: "YES…we accept! All I can say is you better have someone film this match and take a lot of pictures so you can remember the LAST time you ever teamed together!" ======================= MATCH #4: USWA Southern Jr. Champion Scott Armstrong pinned "Little" Ned Navarro following a superkick (As Armstrong leaves the studio, Don Carson makes his way out to the interview area with TNT, Big Bubba, and The Mongolian Stomper…….Carson tells everyone that Mulligan won't make it to the match with Kamala tonight because Big Bubba is going to take him in today's main event on tv. He also says that TNT will be taking that Jr title from Scott Armstrong tonight as well. Carson goes on to say that since the Mongolian Stomper has beaten Mulligan and ran Ron Fuller out of Twin States, there's no one here who presents a serious challenge to him….so tonight to make things interesting, the Stomper is going to go to the ring and issue an open challenge to any wrestler that wants to step through those ropes and challenge him!) ========================= COMMERCIAL BREAK- As they return from break, Charlie Platt runs down the card for tonight in Dothan Twin States Wrestling Houston County Farm Center Dothan, Alabama Saturday November 7, 1985 Bell Time: 7:30pm MAIN EVENT Twin States Heavyweight Championship The Mongolian Stomper's OPEN CHALLENGE SEMI-MAIN EVENT TAG TEAM SOUTHERN STREET FIGHT The Violent Gentlemen (Bill Dundee/George Barnes) vs. Brad Armstrong/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley $10,000 Bounty Match Blackjack Mulligan vs. Kamala w/Friday & Ron Wright EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM MATCH Jerry Brisco/Jimmy Valiant/The Nightmares vs. Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden/Jimmy Garvin/Luscious Johnny V. SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH The Dynamite Duo (Larry Hamilton/Norvell Austin) vs. Brett/Buzz Sawyer w/Ron Wright USWA Southern Jr. Heavyweight Championship Scott Armstrong vs. TNT w/Don Carson Chris/Mark Youngblood vs. Angel of Death/"Sadistic" Steve Strong w/Ron Wright Shane Douglas vs. Bill Ash ------------------------------------------ RPG: "Charlie Platt, that's a pretty good card I must admit, but did you hear what happened recently?" Platt: "I guess not please enlighten me." RPG: "My good, close personal friend and not to mention one of the most talented and athletic wrestlers to ever grace a wrestling ring, Mr. Carl Fergie….won the lottery!!" Platt: "What?? Fergie won the lottery??" RPG: "YES! 4.6 million dollars!" Platt: "You've got to be kidding me!" RPG: "Nope, I don't kid about that much money, and I certainly don't kid about the greatest professional wrestler of this generation or any other, 'Mr. Money' Carl Fergie." ('For the love of money' by O'Jays plays in the studio as Fergie who is wearing a three piece suit and his entourage enter the studio) RPG: "Accompanied by his butler, Frank Morrell and his bodyguard/head of security 'Mr. Moffat', I'm proud to introduce a legend in our time, 'Mr. Money' Carl Fergie." (Frank Morrell is wearing a tuxedo with tails and has a white towel folded over his arm, while 'Mr. Moffat' is wearing sunglasses and an all black suit and seems to be clearing a perimeter around Mr. Fergie who reaches into his pocket and seemingly slips some cash to Gossett) Fergie: "There you go, Ronald….a little something for your troubles, thank you for that spectacular introduction that Rick Stewart or Joe Pedicino would have surely fouled up if given the chance. First of all, I just want all my fans to know that this money won't change me, I will remain the same humble competitor that I've always been in the ring. Now obviously with the amount of wealth I've recently acquired, I could just buy Twin States Wrestling and make myself the top star and the champion. However, I'm better than that….I will continue to compete to the best of my ability and I will do my best to make not only Twin States Wrestling but everyone involved with the USWA better….just by having me associated with the brand. Now Ronald, if you'll excuse me I have an early tee time tomorrow so I must bid you adue, ta ta." (Morrell places a cigar in Fergie's mouth and lights it for him as 'Mr. Moffat' begins to clear a path back out of the studio, Fergie then somewhat discreetly slips Gossett some more cash as they exit the studio to an awaiting limosine outside) RPG: "Mr. Carl Fergie is a legend and I can't wait to see his re-debut here in Twin States very soon!" Platt: "What the heck just happened here??" ======================= (Before the next match, Luscious Johnny V joins Joe Pedicino at ringside) Pedicino: "Mr. Valiant, Ronnie Gossett says you've assured him that all the dissension that has plagued your stable as of late has been resolved but I have to ask if that's the case why are they not out here with you for this interview?" JV: "First of all, I'm the manager….it's my job to do the talking….they aren't out here right now because they are preparing for their match and they know I'm more than capable of answering your questions. Now let's talk about something else right now! Jerry Jarrett has never liked me so it can't be a coincidence that the first show after he weasels his way into power here that I'm suddenly forced to actually wrestle in a match tonight….this is an outrage and that's all I have to say about any of it. Good day to you Joe Pedicino!" --------------------------------------- MATCH #5: Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden/Jimmy Garvin w/Luscious Johnny V defeated Chris & Mark Youngblood/Shane Douglas when Garvin pinned Douglas after a 'Brainbuster'…..besides the tags between Garvin on Golden being kinda "stiff", the team seemed to be on the same page ========================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== MATCH #6: MAIN EVENT $10,000 Bounty Match Blackjack Mulligan pinned Big Bubba w/Don Carson when Mulligan moved to avoid an 'Avalanche' in the corner and managed to roll up Bubba with a school boy for the pin to close the show! © 1985 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions

Thanks for the welcome, happy to be part of the USWA...should be a lot of fun! WOW! Terry Funk gets a jump on the 'King'! You have to figure that Funk is not going to take this eye situation lying down....Lawler better have eyes in the back of his head at all times! Wrestlestorm could be a one match card and if that match is the steel cage between Funk/Lawler....it will be a sell out! Ayala comes in hot and wipes out his opponent! Rip Morgan is a bad dude but I would be concerned if I had Ayala/Colon coming after me especially Ayala swinging a chain! This is going to be another one that sells a lot of tickets and closed circuit buys at Wrestlestorm! They mystery of the "Surge" continues, I agree with Kevin, this is the best way to go with him at this point in his career and it's been proven many times in wrestling that sometimes silence is more intriguing than anything the wrestler could say at the time. Duke Meyers is the "Master of Disaster"....I like it! Broken arms suck, so can't really blame him for being salty at Sivi Afi for breaking his arm....but I guess he is kind of being a jerk about it being an accident and all. The Technicians roll on as Brad replaces Roop with Mark Fleming....I think they will be an equally formidable team. Jerry Jarrett dropped some bombshell announcement in the Beauty Shop for Wrestlestorm 2! Tornado Street Fight is going to be INSANE!! Dream Machine has some time now to come up with a plan on how to outsmart Dick Slater....I'll be interested to see what he comes up with! Markoff calling the Corporal out makes sense, he's had some tough battles lately, I hope he's up to the task! Vin-Man and the Magnificent Ones seem like a perfect fit....I look forward to seeing what becomes of their night on the town. Timothy Flowers/Sunny Warcloud is a fun feud and it's cool how back in the 80's, a feud like this works so well because fans understood the disrespect involved with somebody taking something like the headdress of Sunny Warcloud.....today's cynical internet fans would gripe online, "I can't believe they are fight over chicken feathers"....I miss those days! The promo and upcoming tournament is a great way to write off the six man tag titles and bring back the Central States tag titles.....it will be interesting to see if the Elite is as cohesive as Arnie would have us believe....I'm sure the Nightmares or another team or two would be interested in competing in that tournament. Morrow seems a bit upset about how his title match went and poor DJ Peterson pays the price! on to Johnson City..... The Red Dragons get the win over the Magnificent Ones who seem to still be getting their footing as a tag team at the moment And the classic USA vs. USSR war is off and running here in the USWA! Aww man....Sunny gets a victory but Flowers manages to get the better of him and maintain his hold on the headdress RPMs get the win and Brad realizes that his new partner is going to need some coaching to get to where his previous partner was....but still a ton of potential A preview of Wrestlestorm minus the chain, this one is going to be brutal! Tiger Jeet Singh attacks....and with a sword no less!! Colon's former sworn enemy turned friend Ayala has proven to be his savior lately WOW! Where Texas All-Star started their show with a huge 10 man tag, USWA ended with one and it was huge....'The King' puts down the "Memphis Mafia Man" for the win....I'm shocked Terry Funk didn't show up here to get in a cheap shot....but Morrow sure tried lol
  23. I like that I'm getting invested before the opening match even takes place by the chair being brought down for the Championship match, my interest is now even higher wondering who this could be calling out the winner of the title match?? As Spaldoni mentioned, you know you're in for a hell of a show when the opening match is a 10 man tag with some of the biggest names in Texas All-Star involved. Right out of the gate I can just see Estrada doing his mock Indian war dance with a one hand over his eye and Cocoa going after him and know this is going to be a wild one....and also tells us where Cocoa Samoa's head is at which will come into play in the finish....which was excellent! Heels get the win, while really getting over just how deep in Cocoa's head Estrada is.....also a great way to put Kat Leroux on the first bus out of Dallas heading to her new home while the Gold Dust Trio gets a little extra heat by shrugging it off like "oh well...we'll pick up another one later." Very well done! Nice promo from Akbar making a strong case for the Spoiler taking the title tonight WHAM! Smirnoff vs. Jones was exactly what it needed to be, Mr. Ebony gets the win! Sunshine/Casey make a strong case for Casey retaining....this is going to be good! You just knew there was no way a couple of roughnecks like the Highwaymen were going to let a team called the Glamour Boys take their belts. I love the combo of Hickerson/Duncum and I hope they keep those belts for while but despite their less than masculine name....the team of Simpson and Doll are more than capable of taking the belts if given a fair shake. Wow, I honestly had no idea who would be sitting in that chair at ringside and I stoked to see it was Dory Funk Jr! Some much potential here! Impressive win for Casey as Sunshine proves to be an asset to have as a valet and more than just a pretty face at ringside! However, Dory Jr. wasn't impressed....I'm looking forward to see him across the ring from the champion! The Devil's Night Cage Match promised to be a bad ass main event and it delivered! Wow, I was not expecting Dick Slater to turn up as the partner of Black Bart and 'Mean' Mike Miller....once that was revealed it felt like a forgone conclusion they had this match sewn up......BUT...no good...low down....dirty....."DADGUM SUMBITCH" Mike Miller stabs Black Bart in the back and costs them the match!! Killer Tim Brooks is going wear this win like a badge for a long time to come I'm sure. Awesome show!! You've built up Texas All-Star in record time! I'm excited to be a part of the USWA and look forward to some of these guys (and gals) making their way over to compete in Twin States soon!
  24. Twin States Wrestling Presents HELLoween Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, AL. Twin States Tag Team Championship The Violent Gentlemen (Bill Dundee/George Barnes) wrestled Brad Armstrong/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley to a 20 minute time limit draw in a pretty clean scientific match……….After the match, Barnes and Dundee offered a handshake to Armstrong and Cooley who reluctantly took them up on it. They all shook hands in a great show of sportsmanship….but when Armstrong and Cooley turned to leave the ring Barnes and Dundee ambushed them from behind with the title belts and then proceeded to put the boots to them and left them laying in the middle of the ring as the fans boo'd them out of the arena SEMI-MAIN EVENT UGANDAN DEATH MATCH- No DQ/No Pinfalls - Whoever can't answer the 10 count Kamala w/Friday & Ron Wright defeated "Bullet" Bob Armstrong after a brutal brawl, Armstrong was unable to get up before the 10 count after three big splashes from Kamala…..Armstrong refused to be stretchered out and managed to leave under his own power with help from Brad/Scott and Wendell Cooley MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated Brett/Buzz Sawyer w/Ron Wright in a bloody match that saw Buzz atempt a dive off the top of the cage onto to Ken Wayne but Davis pulled Wayne out of the way causing Sawyer to crash and burn, Davis then went to the top rope and came off with a legdrop onto Buzz and covered for the 1-2-3!! The crowd roared with approval as the Nightmares celebrated at ringside while Ron Wright went into the cage to check on the Sawyers
