Dirt Sheets
CWA NEWS Big news ouf of the CWA this week as there has been a HUGE falling out between the NWA and Jarrett Promotions. Jerry Jarrett revealed to one of our sources that the NWA was highly upset with the signing of the TITLE VS. TITLE match with Lawler's USWA World Title against Ric Fiair's NWA World Title, so upset to the point that they almost called the match off the day of the show, Jarrett was on the phone right up until bell time getting it worked out for the match to happen and at one point Flair left the Mid South Coliseum and was said to be headed to the airport to leave town. Lawler personally went and sat down with Flair and assured him everything was on the level and they didn't intend to pull anything underhanded. Eventually the match went off without a hitch as agreed but in Jarrett's mind the damage had been done. It's expected on this week's live television Jarrett will announce the CWA and Jarrett Promotions have parted ways with the NWA and will now be part of the USWA and will only recognize the USWA World Championships. Jarrett will remain the owner of the territory and the USWA will pretty function in the same manner as the NWA did for the the CWA. Rick Patterson (Leatherface) apparently walked out of the company after having to put over Jerry Lawler on a house show, Patterson left the arena after the show and did not show up for TV on Saturday morning nor did he show up for the Coliseum show on Monday night so a last minute decision was made to move the titles to the Hillbillies, it's not likely they will be long term champions. It's unsure what the plan for Lord Humongous is, it's likely he will end up on the Southeastern cards. A lot of new talent has been brought in to take part in the new Southeastern end of the territory in Alabama and Mississippi. Some CWA talent will work both the "Memphis" end of the territory and the "Birmingham" end of the territory but most of the talent will be kept seperate. Ole Anderson has been hired both to wrestle and book the Southeastern shows as well while Ron Fuller will manage the day to day operations of the promotion under the direction of Jerry Jarrett. It's been said they will be filming a Southeastern Television show at the WTVY Studio in Dothan, Alabama on Wednesday mornings and doing a house show in Birmingham on Wednesday nights and various arenas on Friday nights.

CWA would like to pick up Ken Raper to finish my jobber pack. I'd also like to drop Rick Patterson and pick up Ms. Linda unless anybody was getting ready to pick her up today. That should have my roster all set for now.

Bob Armstrong is supposed to be on my roster in place of Magic Dragon. Tim Horner should be on in place of Brian Adias who should be in USWA's roster

CWA Championship Wrestling Summer of '84
CWA Championship Wrestling WMC TV-5 Studios Memphis, TN. Saturday July 14, 1984 Airing Live 11am cst- 12:30pm cst on WMC TV-5 and on tape throughout the territory on various stations. (Various highlights are shown from last Monday night ending with Lawler pinning Tommy Rich in their 'final battle' in the Steel Cage) Lance and Dave welcome everyone to the show and talk about the huge day in store including a huge main event that will take place today in the studio. We will also see the debut of Ricky and Robert, the Rock & Roll Express, and we'll hear from the NWA World Heavyweight Champion 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair. Johnny V comes out to the desk and announces that he is now the manager of the hottest commodity in professional wrestling…Austin Idol and Buddy Landel- THE DREAM TEAM!! Idol and Landel make their way out to the desk. Idol has the Southern title belt draped over his shoulder and says that rumor has it that Dundee and Brad Armstrong have demanded a 'Southern Streetfight' against the Dream Team this Monday in Memphis and the bad news is they have accepted. Landel chimes in that they are gonna regret this and they should beware of what they ask for because now they are getting it! Johnny V interjects that we will get to see the Dream Team in action today a little later on so prepare ourselves for greatness. First match- "Dirty" Dutch Mantell pinned Keith Eric after a short arm clothesline Dutch comes over to the desk still enraged about last Monday night….he says that the Honky Tonk Man had the audacity to whip him with his own whip, 'Shoobaby'. Mantell says now the TV title is secondary to "teaching this clown a lesson", Monday night they will meet in a 'No Ropes Bullwhip Match' and HTM will know his place after Monday night! COMMERCIAL Second match- Southeastern Tag Champions The Rock & Roll Express defeated Carl Fergie/The Inferno when Gibson pinned Inferno after a double drop kick Morton/Gibson join Lance at the desk, Morton says they've competed against some of the top tag teams across the country and now they are here to defend the Southeastern Tag Team titles and to earn a shot at the World Tag Team Champions….and hopefully at some point they will get a chance to face the so-called 'Dream Team'! Jerry Jarrett comes out and says he's excited to announce that this Monday night….the biggest match in pro wrestling is going to take place when the current USWA World Champion Jerry 'the King' Lawler will defend against the current NWA World Champion 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair in a Unification Match, when this match ends there will be one true World Heavyweight Champion. Lance says we have a video from the NWA champion to look at right now. (VTR- NWA World Champion Ric Flair) Flair says that as the one and only true World Champion in wrestling, he is offended that Jerry Jarrett would insinuate that the belt Lawler is wearing is even in the same league as the one and only true World Championship, the NWA World Title. He says he's going to come to Memphis this Monday night and put an end to the controversy once and for all and when he beats and humiliates Jerry Lawler, some lucky fan will go home with that "useless piece of scrap metal" they call the USWA 'World' Title. We return and Jerry Lawler has joined Jarrett and Lance. Lawler says he used to belittle the USWA title at one time but having held the title and seen the grueling schedule and stiff world class competition he's had to face he has a whole new respect and regard for the USWA World Championship and he says after he gets done with Flair and takes the NWA belt from him….Flair will have a whole new respect for it as well! COMMERCIAL Third Match is a TV Title Match The Honky Tonk Man w/Col. Sonny King defeated Thunderbolt Patterson with his feet on the ropes….Afterwards, Dutch Mantell chased HTM and King out of the studio while trying to whip him with the bullwhip Woman comes out and lets Dave Brown know that she's given her monsters the day off to get ready for this Monday night when they defend against those "two ignorant hillbillies". She says if they manage to get past the 'Dream Team' today they won't be so lucky on Monday night. Lance Russell runs down the car for Monday night at the Coliseum Jarrett Promotions Presents CWA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 'WAR OF THE WORLDS' Monday July 23, 1984 Mid-South Coliseum Memphis, TN. Sonny King Southern Tag Team Title Lord Humongous/Leatherface w/"The Fallen Angel" Woman Vs. Hillbilly Jim/Plowboy Frazier Semi-Main Event SOUTHERN STREETFIGHT Brad Armstrong/"Superstar" Bill Dundee Vs. The Dream Team (Austin Idol/Buddy Landel) w/Johnny V. MAIN EVENT WORLD TITLE UNIFICATION USWA World Title vs. NWA World Title Jerry 'the King' Lawler Vs. WWF on Tour July 1984
It never ceases to amaze me how quick you can bring something together so seamlessly like you did with Mid-South and now the WWF, it's comparable to it's real life counterpart yet very much unique and unpredictable...Hogan coming should really set it up just like it did back in the day....I'm loving the league right now everyone seems to be in the right territory and really starting to hit their stride. I'm having a great time with you guys!

AWA Results for July , 1984
I have to say I love your version of AWA in '84 much more than the real thing back in the day....not to mention I'm a HUGE fan of Jerry Stubbs and I love the way you've used him in the AWA. Really wish he would have had this kind of opportunity in real life. Looking forward to seeing what's next with the Hulkster gone. Hope the Road Warriors want to make a visit to Beale Street someday!

UNITED STATES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
While I'm guilty in a lot of ways in following with history, one of the great things about this sort of fantasy writing is changing things up....I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of Arn/Bobby as a team because while they did team up in '92 in WCW....I think they could have been a Hall of Fame tag team had they hooked up this early in their career IRL. Great stuff going on in the USWA as always...one of my favorite reads!

Lutte Internationale July 1984
Trying to get caught with everyone's promotions....I love the variety you have on the roster and the style of writing you are employing....I've followed wrestling since 1986 but admittedly have very little knowledge of this territory, I look forward to getting aquainted with your take on it! Great stuff thus far!
