Top 500 of the 90s In Progress
Kroffat was fantastic and that match is one of my all-time favourites as well. I've never been able to get into Hokuto vs. Kandori. I've tried several times, but it just doesn't do it for me.

Where the Big Boys Play #85: Starrcade 1992
I'm really enjoying listening to some of these shows, even if I can't get the image of Cleveland from Family Guy out of my head when Chad is talking.

What are you watching?
The stand-out gem from tonight's viewing was undoubtedly Steve Grey vs. Zoltan Boscik (Woking, 8/5/1976). A fantastic match and one which would be a great exhibition of the British style for someone unfamiliar with it. Very good hold and counter technical wrestling. Boscik teased breaking out the heel work at a couple of points, but it remained a technical, sportsmanlike match until the finish. Props also to a nice little match between Dave Taylor and Tony St Clair (Bremen, Germany, 19/12/1987) I watched after Grey and Boscik.

What are you watching?
I just watched a fantastic match between Steve Wright and a masked Dave Morgan from Germany in 1983. I'm on a real Steve Wright kick at the moment. I always liked his work, but the stuff I've watched just lately of his has been mind-blowingly good.

Vic Faulkner
Faulkner had great chemistry with Mick McMichael and their bouts from Digbeth (22/3/1980) is one of my favourite matches. One of those matches that had a little bit of everything. Well worth checking out.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue8XsuCgA1E

Pete Roberts
Fair enough. Each to their own. He's definitely well-regarded amongst the other wrestlers of that era though. I'm not sure exactly when he retired, but it was probably around the mid 90s, which was the time I started, so I missed him unfortunately.

The Barbarian
I realise this has nothing to do with his in-ring work, but just thought I'd put it out there.... Barb has always come with this reputation as being one of those 'trash the hotel room and cause mayhem' kind of guys. When I worked with him in 2003, that couldn't have been further from the truth. I've met a lot of wrestlers over my time and he ranks right up there as one of the nicest, most genuine, most relaxed and laid back people I've ever met. Even when things were going wrong after one of the shows, and others on the tour were kicking off over the arrangements (or lack of them), Barb was cool as a cucumber. I wouldn't doubt his tough-guy reputation, should the situation arise, but as for being aggressive, he couldn't have been further from that. Good at basketball too!

Pete Roberts
I realise this is an old post, but it was really surprising to read this. Every British wrestler of that era I've worked with has always had an absolutely glowing opinion of Pete Roberts, some even describing him as "a real wrestler's wrestler" and such.

The Beginner's Guide To British Wrestling
I don't know if anyone has waxed lyrical about it already in this thread, but the Jim Breaks vs. Zoltan Boscik bout from 2/12/1972 is one of my favourites. Even as a wrestler with more than ten years' experience behind me at my first time of watching it, I was marking out hugely and was actually pulling for Boscik to win, unlikely an outcome as it would have been. One of those matches that really draws you in and makes you forget. Absolutely excellent and well worth a look.
