I like Ricochet. He's charismatic, good looking, very athletic. But I have a tough time buying into him on that level.

Strongly disagree with this, I've really enjoyed most of the Brody King I've seen. I think he brings a lot to the table and will probably only get better.

Loving JBL's title reign shouldn't make anyone feel guilty. Love that reign, lots of great stuff. I'm not sure I can think of a flat out good McMichael singles match, but he was part of some great tags. I absolutely love the Benoit/Mongo vs. Meng/Barbarian tag from Halloween Havoc '97. Granted, Mongo is the worst guy in the match, but he doesn't stink it up by any stretch.

I actually agree with that. He wasn't better overall than those guys, but better in the Horsemen role. I also thought he wasn't nearly as bad in the ring as he was made out to be. On commentary though, yeesh...

Fair point. I guess the question would be if WWE knows or believes differently, and if that's a dealbreaker. I tend to think they will stay away regardless, it's not like he's been missed and, fair or not, they'd likely see bad PR if they did bring him back.

Wasn't part of the reason Enzo got the boot so fast because he knew about the accusation beforehand but didn't tell WWE, and they got blindsided? I can see them not giving him a second chance just based on that alone.

It's CHIKARA for me. I was a WWE guy from when I started watching (in 2003) but as we trekked into the 2010s my interest was really flagging. Ironically opposite to most, it was actually the infamous shutdown angle that attracted my attention, I was fascinated by the idea that a wrestling company would go so far to tell a multi-layered story. I checked out some older stuff and then immediately bought the return iPPV and never looked back, still watch pretty much everything to this day and get a big kick out of it, and I've been going through the older stuff ever since Chikaratopia opened up. I'll sit down for anything CHIKARA, at any point in their history, and just get a great feeling.

Is it known what the plans for the Brain Busters were going to be in the WWF, post November of '89? They taped the split from Heenan before they knew Tully was gonna be fired and there are a couple episodes of Prime Time where Monsoon and Piper talk about them positively, so I'm wondering if they were supposed to stay and be babyfaces, or if they were always going to leave regardless.

So... practically never, sadly.

What were Beefcake's best matches of the period? I've been watching through some of that era recently and every time he comes up it's a groaner. He's not the worst guy on the roster by any means but I don't think I've ever seen a singles match that I would actively call good.

That's a fantastic post and I didn't know some of that, thanks. But I was really wondering why, if Luger turned the belt down in 1990 under less than ideal circumstances, he would then accept the belt in 1991 under far worse circumstances? Is it just the difference between being offered the belt versus being told to take it, or did Luger's opinion change, or what? For the longest time I blamed Flair for putting off Luger's big moment until it no longer mattered, but if Luger was in his own way that changes things a little.

I'm not steamed about it or anything but that seems very silly to me.

This is doubly weird for me because Luger obviously did end up becoming champion later, when the company was in worse(?) shape. Sorry if this is old hat to anyone, but was there ever a reason given for that?

Beefcake was definitely over with the gimmick, but I always thought he was pretty lousy as a performer if Greg Valentine was dragging him to good tag matches.

I had always heard it was Flair's famous promise to Sting that kept the belt off Luger in that period. Would be very interested to know if that's not the case.

I liked his Lucha Memes matches with Aramis in March even better than the Adonis one, so yeah Casas is still going strong.

With PCO clocking in a great match with WALTER 'Mania weekend, he's gotta be at 20+ years, depending on when you think he had his first one.

Ole was just so bad in 1990, the momentum of '89 was flushed straight down the tubes. He had plenty of good moments in his actual peak though.

For TV shows I'd have to go with... 1. Farscape 2. Boston Legal 3. Breaking Bad 4. Adventure Time 5. Venture Bros 6. Cowboy Bebop 7. Rick & Morty 8. House 9. FLCL 10. Game of Thrones Eclectic, I'm sure, but oh well. My music taste is probably a little weird too by most standards but I go heavily in for pop-punk stuff. Blink 182 and it's various offshoots are still in heavy rotation for me. I do sometimes go in for heavier stuff like Metallica or more folksy(?) stuff like Johnny Cash, with plenty of other weird stuff peppered in.
