AEW Revolution 2024
Yeah, I don't really find Hangman a likeable guy, at least not enough to be the babyface they set him up to be. Him being a heelish tweener serves him better. But hey, it's Sting's Last Dance. We know that WWE owns the right to WCW footage, but what about the theme songs? Using "The Man Called Sting" or "Turbo Charged" would be peak wrestling.

With all due respect. That's the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns!!!!!

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
So, Sting had two of the most blatant rip-off gimmicks in recent memory- Crow Sting and Joker Sting - and both were good. Why don't more people do that?

AEW TV 2/28 - 3/2
That's fucking awesome, tho!

Like, I guess as a trainer he can be fine, as @NotJayTabbpointed out - QT would fall under the same category - but I have noooooooo fucking time for that dude as an on screen talent. Related to Performance Center wrestlers getting more experience, Maxxine Dupri was apparently booed at a house show. Haven't seen the vid making the rounds, and while it is a bit harsh to her, I must ask again: why is she wrestling at all under those circumstances? She is unexperienced, started out as a manager (which she is actually very good at) and essentially was having her first matches on LIVE TELEVISION. Like, it's just the opposite of what they are doing with Jade, which is super unfair to Maxxine.

Current New Japan
LOL I know! But it's all in jest. I usually pull those ridiculous talking points out of my butt *precisely* because it's a way of getting other users, usually more knowledgeable than me, to engage. However I must say that Misawa beating Jumbo THAT one time (and making him tap at Budokan, which the commentary put over huge, saying "Misawa has once again become a man at Budokan") was everything he needed to become THE guy. I do think that Omega leaving to form AEW threw a wrench on NJPW's booking. He was placed as Okada's equal, more or less. As for heel groups, I can only think of Suzuki-Gun in NOAH around 2015 and getting all the damn belts. It was... not good, as far as my memory goes.

RIP Mike Jones aka Virgil
Him being just 61 was a bit shocking to me. May he rest in peace! 28 of October of 2021, actually!

Current New Japan
Is it too soon to start a "Kazuchika Okada: Territory Killer" narrative? I know the real culprit is Gedo but Okada breaking every single record in company history, not really passing the torch to anyone and going away is just too brutal to not make jokes.

The person behind those cryptic messages was... 10 Guy.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
If you think about it, it's probable that Court Bauer won't work with wrestling anymore. Net positive?

At this point, though, 20 million is pocket money for them.

RIP Ole Anderson
If anything, him being even acknowledged on WWE indicates that Vince is Gone. Ole probably would have hated it too. Still, an incredibly entertaining man to listen to. Great story.

Cody is absurdly over. Holy shit.

LOL at that Rollins promo. If that's how he rallies troops, the war is already lost.

Sami beating GUNTHA for the IC belt at WM feels like a good decision.

Seriously, just the animated series is more than enough.

AEW TV - February 21 - 24, 2024
As for Jade, the presence is there, and she looked fine on Royal Rumble. I get not having her debut at an EC qualifier just to get pinned on a February PLE, as she very much looks like someone who will get big programs right after Wrestlemania. She will have way better dance partners overall, but with everyone else getting their storylines into place, she'd feel left out and that's the last thing you want with such a big acquisition.

Pillman Jr. was having actual matches unlike the other two. He's just not good.

Somehow not even the most shocking wrestler-turned-actor trajectory out there. Big Dave Batista is out there working mostly with big hitters and doing artsy shit. An actual talented actor with DEPTH.

AEW TV - February 21 - 24, 2024
Yes. Absolutely. Christian knows how to ride the line of absurd professional wrestling bullshit like very few others. "What's the capital of Thailand? Bangkok!" *proceeds to hit his opponent in the balls* Not something that should work. Ever. Samoa Joe made that man look like GOLD. Dude's been around for ages and hasn't progressed a single bit since doing short squash matches with Road Warrior Hawk no-selling spots.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I dunno, but that match really shouldn't have won that award.
-
All Elite Wrestling
So, months removed after Joe vanquished evil and restored the feeling... how do you guys feel about the MJF reign? To me it hurt the perception people had of him, and it kinda killed the company's momentum, which is crazy. They went from essentially selling out Wembley to low ratings and low ticket sales. Crazy shit.

Current New Japan
Dolph Ziggler is the NJPW Global Champ, and Matt Riddle is the NJPW World TV Champ. EVIL is still hanging around. This company is cooked.
