Chris Hero being fired felt odd the first time around. On his second turn, he just felt lost in the shuffle. Who was he going to coach, even? There were so many experienced indie talents on his second rodeo that he felt completely redundant on that "trainer" position.

With the opponent being tied to the ropes, using a pocket knife to the stomach felt as bad if not worse to me.

So, in the latest GCW event, there was this tag match featuring EFFY and Allie Katch in which Allie straight up used a knife to cut her opponent. I'm not going to post that gruesome shit here, but I do need to say things are getting kinda out of hand, even if the spot was planned and agreed upon ahead of time.

The problem isn't even that they don't think smaller wrestlers can't draw or aren't worth a push. Rey Mysterio, Eddie, [REDACTED] and others are on the "smaller" side of the scale and have been pushed fairly strong to the top. Cole is obviously seen as a valuable asset, but he never should have been pushed the way he was. There was this match of his against Keith Lee that encapsulates the problem well: he was *dominating* Lee early on with headlocks. Not even in a "speed vs strength" match, but flat-out slowing the match down. In fact, most of the match was worked 50/50 despite the gigantic size disparity. He was booked to be something he's not, and I think this is something that happened to other wrestlers there. Also, why the fuck did we have Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre title reigns? Or even Nakamura? What purpose did those reigns serve? Who are you appealing to with Robert Roode? Couldn't Drew just go straight to the main roster?

Oh, FCW was far from perfect, but it sure beats whatever has become of NXT lately, specially in concept. I mean, we all have discussed how the PC just didn't create homegrown stars. How worse can this new rebranding be?

Look, NXT is toast. It's not just because of AEW, either. It completely lost its luster since 2017, and maybe even sooner (IMO it started cracking around Finn's reign of terror), and being this weird mix of indie-lite wrestling and developmental doesn't work. It seems it will be completely retooled and rebranded. If it becomes something more similar to FCW, that's good. It's the actual successful developmental brand of the late 00s and early 2010s.

By the looks of things, NXT UK money makes NXT money look like Main Roster money, which means it's not any money at all

My knowledge of freestyle/folk/Greco-Roman wrestling was fairly limited. I only knew people like Aleksandr Karelin because he was featured in pro wrestling games such as Fire Pro Wrestling. Then I started paying more attention during Tokyo 2021 and it actually fucking rocks! No wonder it's a style that has become so dominant in MMA and even pro wrestling. You get dudes built like a house of bricks even at the smaller weight classes who are able to lift and control other grown human beings with apparent ease. It's a spectacle! I'd even think of starting it, but it also seems like it's easy to injure yourself.

I guess the issue becomes on how practical those things really are. I mean, sometimes you are just superior to your opponent and can afford to get some nifty shit in, but if you have a lot at stake or there isn't much skill disparity, better keep things safe.
