I think Brock/Taker was a bit different. Brock WAS built like a world beater even if he did come back in 2012 in a losing effort, but people were like "haha as if you would do that". Like, it made sense for Lesnar to win, but to see that 21-1 was still surreal. Roman/Cody was just a controversial (some may say bad) result after a build that took months. I think it's closer to Okada/Naito than anything - champ is on a legendary run (Gedo was trying his fucking hardest to get Okada to get that title defense record), takes on fan favorite, white hot challenger and comes out on top. Let's just hope it doesn't take two years for Cody to get his big win back.

In 2015, Big Show wasn't exactly mobile, and he was a few years away from having a late-career revival after losing some weight. Still, what he lacks in mobility he more than makes up in presence. He was out there smashing tables with his fists, breaking kendo sticks, just looking like a mountain to be conquered. And yeah, Roman is super fucking over in this match. He does have the star presence, even if his character is not the mob boss he's known for now. They do a great job of keeping this match, which features a very slow-paced stipulation, fast and intense. There is not much down time, and the bombs keep on coming. There is a sense of escalation to the bumps, and both have to use their wits to avoid getting a 10 count early on. The final spot of the match is still a great damn visual. Roman is, and always was, a top tier talent. He always had IT. Don't let people say otherwise.

I think he was one of the best wrestlers in the world from 2015 until his leave of absece, just working great TV and PPV matches with an amazing variety of opponents. This history-making run he's having further consolidates his place among the top tier talent, as very few are able to generate such an atmosphere by just being there.

Jay White debuting would be okay, but I doubt he's a face most would recognize. He has a good look and charisma, but he's not really someone with the story or background of a Cody Rhodes. It would take some time to heat him up to challenge and lose to Roman.
