If you were in Herb Abrams position.
0.48 buyrate, or about 100,000 buys, for their debut show in 1993. Fall Brawl did 95,000 buys for context. There seems to have been two other PPVs, but they allegedly flopped.

I like to think brother @The Thread Killer was serious.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
John Cena's new comedy looks fun, but Cena on-screen is always fun.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Wasn't far off happening...there was an exhibition match in a mall, and afterwards we jumped in the ring and put on a match. A promoter in attendance offered me a gig, but not Other Dav'oh. Given they named me Diamond Dave, we would probably have been the Diamond Daves, #1 and #2.

WrestleMania Main Event Spoiler
Only the Rock is big enough to overshadow the Vince nastiness. Classic distraction, that the established roster couldn't provide on their own. It worked here.

Fuck. Just gets harder and harder to be in love with this business. And my best mate (Dav'oh #2) is taking me to Iron Claw on Monday...

WWE TV - 1/29 - 2/2 - BROCK PURDY IS THE HEAD OF THE TABLE
What if....they never had any intention of anointing Cody in the first place, upon signing? Empty promises and wrestling promoters go hand-in-hand.

Did he point a gun at Christian?

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Is Wall Street going to accept a man who kept zero books and leached the talent's credit cards and wrote rubber checks and et cetera last time he ran a wrestling company, as head of a billion dollar concern? Unlikely. They're in a dilly of a pickle. Years ago talk was Wall Street would reject HHH, if, as thought at the time, he eventually took over from Vince. You can't just replace the upper echelons of a global behemoth with carnie folk.

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
A good, wholesome wrestling match. Good for the soul, especially after This Week in WWE.

The lack of color in modern ring attire
It's all easter eggs and homages to superheroes and anime and outdoing each other and other stuff my creaky analogue brain doesn't understand. "Secret Meanings of WWE Superstars Rumble Costumes"-type articles make Dav'oh sad.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
It's not like his parents knew he was going to be a satanist when they named him "Buddy". And really, he should be called "Mate".

WWE Royal Rumble 2024
Drew McIntyre grabbing someone's face and screaming "I own your ass!" was way-too-close to the lawsuit allegations, for me. It was a planned spot which the director focussed on. Curious. I understand I see things differently, for better or worse.

WWE Royal Rumble 2024
I didn't know LA Knight had such big tits. Respectfully.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
So...they can talk about it on Monday, after the....no, that doesn't work, because RAW is on. And it's the Road to WrestleMania, can't overshadow that. See the problem here? As for what are they meant to say? The verbiage doesn't really matter, they just have to say SOMETHING. A simple condemnation of the alleged perpetrator and their actions and an expression of sympathy for the alleged victim.

WWE Royal Rumble 2024
"Vince would have wanted it that way."

Silence Kills. Silence led us here, silence will keep us here.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
The silence from Cena, Dwayne, HHH, Undertaker and the rest, is, as they say, deafening. Not a single word of outrage or disgust.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
He'll find a way to be "unfit to stand trial/give evidence". His 'celebrity doctor' will help, there. Either in a civil trial, or on Federal sex-trafficking charges. Once the delaying tactics have run their course. Orange Jesus will absolve him of his sins if he gets back in anyway. Let's not get attached to the notion that Vince will be figuratively hung, drawn and quartered. At worst he'll have to wear a gown with an "R" on it (again, figuratively). I hope this cunt gets every cancer.

Would you want two Mauros at the commentary desk, brother @C.S.? It's only one more than one Mauro.

Why is America always assumed to be the centre of the wrestling universe?
Most work available for the most workers on any given night? I'd put the U.S over Europe. If one were to narrow "Europe" to the U.K or France and apply "per capita", I still feel the U.S would be ahead. I feel this is a more pertinent metric than NTSC, TV time-slots, heel-bayface ratios, etc. Where could the most people earn a quid/buck/shekel?

WWE TV 1/22 - 1/28 MY CLIENT BROCK PURDY
"He rode their coat-tails and high-tailed it when they had outlived their usefulness, and now they exchange empty platitudes on the social media disgraces", is another way of looking at it. I have zero fantasies about wrestling (since Summer Rae disappeared (respectfully)).

Is the empire stronger than ever? (for two days lol)
Netflix, Peacock, Smell-O-Vision, Kinetoscope, a lot of people have only one question: how does this affect my COMPLETELY ILLEGAL viewing habits?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Wondering flippantly who's going to play Happy Humphrey in DSotR Harley Race Edition, led me to wonder seriously: Where have all the 500-pounders gone? I can't follow the U.S indys as closely as some of you, but is there anyone getting around the ring at that weight these days? I can't believe America in general has less morbidly obese people than they had in the past. Does the quality of work expected nowadays preclude many who would've got a gig back in my day? Stricter medical exams?

Dark Side of the Ring
I'm not sure "Shotgun Dropkicked in the Face By A Kamikaze Paraglider" says much about the seediness of the biz. Buff Bigelow, Male Gigolo, isn't wrestling-related either. Interesting that they're doing the living. I wonder if they'll take part? (edit: they probably need the money, so, yes?)
