The card is already stacked to the damn roof and knowing you it's not finished yet. I feel like I've heard of a wargames like cage with handcuffs before but I can't recall where. The Universal Heartthrob is primed,primped and ready to be National champion. I would advise the Cartel to take the Superflys a bit more seriously. The battle of the Billy Jacks is back on and headed to loser leaves town match at Wrestlerock! Also far be it from me to tell Ox Baker what to do but I really wouldn't count Cabin Fever out yet. Colon wants blood and he'll find it at Wrestlerock! Da Crusher gets under Gagne's skin ahead of the big tag match. The picture of Gagne throwing a tantrum made my night. The Bruise Brothers vs Priceless just feels right. I may have snickered a bit at Morrows "My champagne bottles have a lot of good memories of your head" line. The Superstar & the King are ready to end their feud once and for all! Bock with a simple yet understandable justification for his actions but he'll have to answer to the chief. Good thing they'll be in a cage cause Spoiler & co vs Jones's army can't be contained in a regular match! A physical match between Casey & Moretti solves nothing but leaves the door open for a rematch. I'm down. I like Thornton pointing out Steamboat has yet to defend against a scientific wrestler. That and the altercation at the end sets up an interesting story. Wrestlerock is gonna be insane!

The monsters retain their Trios titles thanks to Maxine's freakish strength. I think they'll be holding onto for a while. Richter flips out over losing the world title and takes it out on Nellie. She may actually be more dangerous now than as champion. The monsters kinda dropped the ball in the main event leading to a new television champion! Congratulations to McIntyre. A successful loop for The Heenan Family as it's members pick up some big wins. Lord Hayes's men have a more mixed but still pretty good tour. Greg Gagne gets a title shot of his choosing? Dare one hope he challenges his old man? A fun loop from the AWA.

A mixed night for Gary Hart as Kabuki gets himself disqualified but the Dynamic Duo become the new tag team champions! Skandar Akbar also has a mixed night, Patera retains the MACW championship but the rest of his men fail in the main event. If that masked man was trying to help Flair he kinda half-assed it. But if he was trying to help Harley Race he may have done a better job. Gotta keep a eye on this situation. MACW gives Norfolk a night it won't soon forget.

Honestly while I understand people's complaints about WWF turning them into a comedy act, I've always thought Bushwackers was a better name if you know what a Bushwacker actually is. In case you don't know a bushwacker was an old term for what we today would call an insurgent. So while it does sound silly it's actually a pretty cool name imo anyway.

Western States Wrestling Presents Memorial day special May 31 1986 The Coluseam El Paso Texas Bell time 3:30pm We start the show with contest winner Juliana Colon singing the national anthem. "The Pride of Montague County" Johnny Mantell wins a battle royal to earn a WSW Heavyweight Championship match in the main event last eliminating Kendo Nagasaki. U.S Steel defeats Tojo Yamamoto with a big splash. The Fort Bragg Brotherhood (Cpl Kirchner & Pvt Don Kernodle) defeat The Invaders (1&3) when Kirchner made Invader 1 submit to the Cobra Clutch. Mark Youngblood defeats Moondog Rex w/ "Taskmaster" with a backslide. Chris Youngblood defeats Moondog Spot w/ "Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan by dq when Sullivan hit Chris in the back with a chair as he ran off the ropes. All hell breaks loose as the rest of The Tribal Nation & Dungeon of Doom run out causing a wild brawl that security barely breaks up. An enraged Chris holding his back takes the house mic. Dory Funk Jr defeats Chicky Starr with the Texas cloverleaf. WSW Heavyweight Championship match "The Pride of Montague County" defeats Jumbo Tsuruta (c) w/Tojo Yamamoto by dq. Jumbo was going for a lariat but Mantell caught his arm and turned it into a Russian leg sweep! Floatover pin...1.. 2...Tojo dives In and cracks Mantell with the Japanese flag! Mantell had it! Tojo stomps away on Mantell while the rest of Zaibatsu come down. Pogo helps Jumbo to his feet as the group surround a fallen Mantell. But before anything further can happen every face in the building runs down to ringside. Zaibatsu high tails it! The faces help up Mantell who can be heard shouting that this isn't over.

No better way to get a Memphis crowd going then to start the night with the king beating the superstar. Feet on the ropes or not what's important is that the Universal Heartthrob advances in the tournament AND has a claim on another shot at the Soul Man's national championship. A spirited effort by Rheneigans isn't enough to prevent Sir Tony "Simply the best" St Clair from advancing. Bock & the chief go the distance paving St Clair's road to the finals. Post match attack shows how much Bockwinkel really thinks of McDaniels. The Highwaymen vs Cabin Fever is the bloody brawl we all expected (and hoped) it would be. Like the Beasts of Burden attacking right after the bell, shows that they actually acknowledge Cabin Fever as a threat. Lawler keeps his people happy as he sends Idol home. But the good times don't last as Dundee spitefully ruins the moment. Steamboat slays the monster Kamala with a little help from a returning Carlos Colon! I'm glad this feud isn't over. St Clair is (understandably) merciless as he punishes Lawler's alr injured ribs to the point where the referee has to stop the match! Great idea, Lawler looks tough for refusing to back down while St Clair looks like a proper bastard. Like Kev i had never heard of St Clair until you started using him but now i can't wait for him to lock up with Steamboat! Wrestlrock can't come fast enough!

Skandar Akbar wants money! And he's got a group that can make him a lot. But unfortunately in the process he pissed off a giant. I'll be keeping an eye on the 2X4s. The Freebirds have to be the favorites in the 6 man title tournament. Akbar leads his men to victory but they get caught off guard by the arrival of Jake Roberts! I don't know the history between him and Ole but I'm still excited. Kabuki and that damned mist snag the TV Title shot. Nice effective promos from those involved in the big matches i Norfolk. I love a good show ending everybody get in there brawl. I literally used that today in my other promotion. I'm ready and Norfolk better get ready.

A quick stop before Memorial day produces a hard hitting night of wrestling the good people of Madison will be talking about for some time. Love the scene where Da Crusher chugs a fan's beer to fight off Gagne & Duker. That ending scene though! Double brass knuckle shots! I'm doubting if the Superflys will make it to the Mid-South Coluseam.

I love the fact that Candido can be even MORE of a dick after a clean win. Though considering he got himself a Light Heavyweight Championship match he may be justified. The Brigade get a win over the Crazy Gang! The Beast gets a hard fought win over the cagey Mando. Douglas gives it a good try but Miller's a bit to mean for him. Too Cold Scorpio has been a great Light H champion but he may have met his match in Candido. Snowbirds vs Hart International screams work rate. Jarrett proves a tough challenger but not tough enough to dethrone "Mr Hollywood". Bring on Yamada. Seattle Showdown is stacked AF. For some reason I'm particularly interested in Finley & Dog Pound teaming up.

A nice win for Brittany Brown & Ashley Kennedy before the import stuff starts. The reign of the Giantslayers continues as the fend of the Nasty Girls then state their intent to capture more gold. Penny Mitchell's path to the dark side takes a big step as she brutalizes her former student. 2 belt Moretti gets desperate defending her dual straps against a hungry Velvet McIntyre. The Monsters cement their place as the most dominant faction in WWW with a win in a wild 10 women tag. The Long reign of Wendi Richter is over as we have a NEW NWA women's world champion in Debbie Combs! A cathartic moment for her and the fans I'm sure.

Kendo Nagasaki w/Tojo Yamamoto defeats Cpl Kirchner when Tojo distracted referee Bobby Pico as Kirchner had Kendo in the Cobra Clutch allowing for a low blow/thrust kick combo. Pvt Don Kernodle defeats "Wild Tiger" with a neckbreaker. Tojo tried to interfere again but was stopped by Kirchner. The Glamor Boys (Steve Doll & Steve Simpson) defeat Radiance ("Pretty Boy" Doug Somers & "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry) when Doll executed a crucifix on Somers. After the bell Radiance jump the Glamor Boys and to the outrage of the crowd, Embry produces a pair of scissors and they cut a strand of hair off of Doll & Simpson's heads. Chicky Starr and "The Pride of Montague County" Johnny Mantell wrestled to a 20 minute time limit draw. Windham & Perez enter together to " A country boy can survive" by Hank Williams Jr soaking in the cheers of the crowd. Those cheers turn to jeers as "War pigs" by Black Sabbath blairs over the pa system. The jeers devolve into confused murmuring as Skandar Akbar emerges alone,sunglasses on,a cigar in his grinning mouth. Western States Wrestling Episode 5 May 29 1986 From the KFDA-TV Studio in Amarillo Texas Airing live at 9:35am on WTBS Channel 17 A montage of classic and recent Western States action set to " Into the fire" by Dokken opens the show. We cut to Steve Stack standing in front of a joint WSW and NWA banner. Stack: Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another exciting episode of Western States Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance,the premier governing body of professional wrestling the world over. And this is a particularly exciting episode because today is the confrontation between the recognized NWA World Tag Team champions Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams and the men in possession of the physical titles Terry & Dory Jr the Funk brothers! *Huge pop* In order to give that meeting the time it deserves we're forgoing the usual opening interview with commissioner Dusek and going straight to the opening contest. Match 1 Sunny War Cloud defeats Spaulby Pauldbo with a Tomahawk Chop. Match 2 "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry defeats Clay Bailey with a neckbreaker. Embry's partner "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers joined Stack on commentary and spent the whole match talking about how the people of Amarillo should thank them for "introducing beauty into their dull and dreary lives" and that "The only reasons we're not treated like the superior specimens we are is because the men know their women would drop them like a bad habit as soon as we gave them as much as a sideways glance and the women know they ain't even worth that" Commercial break-Steve Stack runs down the live events for this coming week,though he mentions that WSW has something sp planned for Memorial day. Match 3 Kendo Nagasaki w/Tojo Yamamoto defeats Fabian Arreola with a thrust kick. Tojo also joins Stack on commentary and spend the entire match ranting about the "Fragrant and blatant injustice" committed to his men In their match against "Those mentally degenerated inbred cow himping Funk brothers" Says it's "An outrage" that people have stopped talking about Zaibatsu in regards to the World Tag Titles. Promises that the "injustice" will be rectified "It's only a matter of how high we have to stack the bodies" Match 4 Devastation Inc ("Killer" Tim Brooks & "The Russian Hammer" Alexis Smirnoff) w/Skandar Akbar defeat The Pioneers (Hugh Glass & Zachary Bass) when Brooks hit Glass with the second rope leg drop but apparently decided that wasn't enough so he tagged in Smirnoff to hit the heart punch. After the pin Devastation Inc piled Bass on top of his partner and Smirnoff buried them both under the Soviet flag. For the third match in a row Stack had a guest on commentary, this time it was his "privilege" to share the booth with "General" Skandar Akbar who promised that his men would end " The pathetic resistance of that overgrown daddy's boy Windham & that preening milksop Perez" in their Texas Tornado match at the Sports Arena later today. Commercial break-Steve Stack announces that on Memorial day WSW will hold a special show in the Coluseam in El Paso TX.
