MACW 1981
Masked Superstar feels confident with his new friends watching his back but that changes quickly as Dusty Rhodes & ANDRE THE GIANT arrive on the scene. Ole scores the win then let's it be known that he'll have his friends backs. Precious Paul takes a loss AND possibly ends up on the shelf courtesy of JJ & the Super Destroyers(Not a bad band name) The Freebirds are on the hunt for gold. This doesn't bold well for any belt holder. Superfly and the Chief are ready to defend their tag titles injury or not. Valentine fends off young Brett Hart and now awaits the winner of Steamboat/Kabuki. And we have a date for Piper/Flair for the U.S strap and a chance to face the world champion. The Soul Man picks up a nice tv win. A massive main event end in chaos as Skandar Akbar debuts and introduces himself to Andre with a fireball! That's how you debut a heel manager.

A enjoyable loop highlighted by new AWA tag team champions! Tiger Mask becoming a duel champion caught me by surprise. I smiled watching Jumbo Tsuruta win the main event in Rockford.

Like the idea of Brickhouse stepping up as team leader being the (relatively) most experienced man. It somewhat pays off as he heads off the cane shot though it causes a double DQ. Still a draw is an improvement. A touching scene as Taylor has to take some time off but is sending a friend to help his young charges against relentless Finley. Adams picks up the win against a game Blackman as he stakes his claim on another television title match. Windham outslugs the American ninja picking up some momentum for the war with the Crazy Gang. Corny's name-calling had me cracking up. And we get a taped fist match! Love it. Steamboat earns his keep as he holds Easy Ed off long enough for his teammates to get the win. Rose may find a feud with Hyatt International tougher than he thought. PCW is rolling into Seattle Showdown.

We cut to Steve Stack and commissioner Frank Duesk (holding a briefcase) standing in front of a joint WSW and NWA banner. Stack: Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another exciting episode of Western States Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the premier governing body of professional wrestling the world over. As you can see it's my pleasure to be joined by the commissioner of WSW Mr Frank Dusek, Frank i understand you some exciting news to share with us. Duesk: Thank you Steve, I have a couple of announcements to make the first of which is in regards to the controversy surrounding the NWA World Tag Team Titles.*excited murmuring* sure our audience remembers last week Dory Funk Jr *big pop*who along with his brother Terry *another big pop *are in possession of the physical title belts extended a offer to the recognized champions Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams, after what I don't mind telling you were some tense negotiations i can report that meeting shall take place right here next week! massively excited pop Stack: Well that's good to hear, hopefully we can finally get this matter settled. Though I must say I'm expecting a rather tense conversation. Now Frank i understand you have some more to tell us. Duesk: That's right Steve, Ladies and gentlemen the response to Western States Wrestling has surpassed all expectations. And because of this the NWA board of directors and the executives in charge of Turner Broadcasting have agreed it's time we host our first supershow! HUGE POP Now folks this will include a schedule change as our usual tv episode & event at the Sports Arena won't be taking place on Saturday July 3rd. murmur of confusion. That's to ensure that the WSW roster is in fighting shape for what happens the day after, Because on Sunday July 4th as we come together to celebrate the independence of the greatest country on earth WSW will be presenting an event we're calling "Independent Together"! Biggest pop yet. While i can't give away to much yet one thing I can tell you is that every title in WSW will be fought for including Duesk pauses to open the briefcase and retrieve a championship belt. The Crowning of the first ever Western States Wrestling Television Champion! Dusek pauses again this time to let the cheers die down. And the tournament to crown our first Television Champion begins right here today! Now I don't about you but I feel I've talked enough so Steve i turn it over to you so we can start the action. Dusek shakes hands with Stack before leaving to the excited cheers of the Amarillo faithful. Stack: Ladies and gentlemen some massive news indeed and I for one can't think of a better way to celebrate then with our first match. Match 1 Jimmy Jack Funk defeats Bartholomew Rothschild the 3rd with the spinning toe hold. Dory & Terry join Steve Stack on commentary. Dory is glad DiBiase & Williams excepted his invitation and reiterates that as Christian wrestlers the Funk brothers have a duty to resolve this fairly. Terry agrees but bristles when the conversation turns to the comments Williams & DiBiase have been making. Dory assure his younger brother " Now Terry those boys are just frustrated at the prolonged confusion. I'm sure next week cooler heads will prevail" JJ wraps things up before the conversation can continue and the brothers leave, belts in hand, with their victorious "cousin" Commercial break- Steve Stack runs down the Western States live events for this coming week. Match 2 "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley w/ Slick defeats "Ranch hand" Robby Ray with the Flying Willie (Shaska & Slick join Steve Stack at the interview area) Stack: Very impressive television debut for "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley alongside his manager Slick. Gentlemen what are your goals here in Western States Wrestling? Slick: MONNNNEEEEEY!!!!! Stackman it's what makes the woooorld go round. Now lord knows the Slickster already has more money than all these yahoo crackers put together *boos* Now now the Slickster knows the truth can hurt but look on the bright side y'all. Your lives might not be worth the gum on the bottom of the Slickster's shoe, you can still watch as my main man the "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley succeeds beyond any of your wildest dreams as he becomes your first ever Western States Wrestling Television Chaaaaampiiiiooooon. Hahaha Shaska & Slick leave the interview area to a chorus of boos. Match 3 The Fort Bragg Brotherhood (Cpl Kirchner & Pvt Don Kernodle) defeat The Red Menace (Vasily Borisov & Dmitry Isaev) when Kernodle pinned Borisov after a Neckbreaker. Commercial break We return to 3 young men in kilts introduced as Clan Macdough (Huey,Duey & Luey respectively) before "Angel of death" by Slayer blades over the pa system as Kevin Sullivan emerges through the curtain and makes the go-go-go gesture sending the Moondogs & Abdullah the Butcher storm the ring and pounce on the terrified Macdough trio. The Dungeon of Doom defeat Clan Macdough when Rex performs a backbreaker and holds Huey while Spot comes off the second rope for a elbow drop, however Spot tags in Abdullah before jumping and as Huey is convulsing "The Mad Man from the Sudan" runs the ropes and comes back with the Sudanese meat cleaver (elbow drop to the throat) to end the match at about 90 seconds...which is approximately half as long as the post-match asswhooping which Sullivan joins in on after spending the match on commentary ranting about the Tribal Nation. Chairs, bones and a fork are all used on Clan Macdough and the security guards brave/stupid enough to try and intervene until finally the Tribal Nation (the Youngbloods & Sunny War Cloud) alongside Cocoa Samoa rush the ring leading to a brawl that spills outside the ring and continues to the back. Stack: Lord above it's utter insanity out here. As medical staff drag the bloody carcasses that used to be Clan Macdough to the Back Stack runs down the card for the Sports Arena later today. Invader 1 vs "Wandering Assassin" Gypsy Joe U.S Steel vs " Wild Tiger" Kim Duk w/Tojo Yamamoto Steve Doll vs "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers Steve Simpson vs "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry Jimmy Jack Funk vs Kendo Nagasaki w/Tojo Yamamoto The Tribal Nation (WSW Tag Team Champions The Youngbloods & Sunny War Cloud) & Cocoa Samoa vs The Dungeon of Doom ("Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan,Abdullah the Butcher & the Moondogs) Dory Funk Jr vs Mr Pogo w/Tojo Yamamoto Main event WSW Heavyweight Championship match Jumbo Tsuruta w/Tojo Yamamoto vs Terry Funk Main event Match 5 WSW Television Championship Match Chicky Starr defeats Cocoa Samoa with a O'Connor roll with both handfuls of tights as Cocoa was distracted by security holding back Sullivan & Abdullah.

AWA Major League Wrestling
Southern Justice is back! I don't know why but I find the visual of Crusher ducking a Myers loaded forearm only to thumb him in the eye funny. The war between the Cartel & the Superflys turns bloody and I'm convinced a stipulation is needed to settle this. Kamala vs Grizzly Boone! King Kong (and Godzilla) got shit on this! Love Priceless paying for their match to be called a special attraction. Paul Jones tried, The Crippler fought a hell of a fight but the night belongs to the Soul Man! Really enjoying his title run.

AWA Major League Wrestling
Paul Jones's army has a impressive showing as they murder poor Dutro and, far more importantly, possibly take Spoiler out of the tournament before it even begins. Now that's how you reheat a heel stable. A heated tag match ends with a dq win for Adrenaline Rush and a Cartel asswhooping by the Superflys. Not a bad result all things considered. I must say I'm rather impressed a arrogant dickhead like Vinnie is able to convince so many people to hang out with him. El Canek training hard for what will be a totally unleashed Giant Haystacks. I have a bad feeling about this. Wahoo & Bockwinkel have a surprisingly pleasant exchange in route to their first round match. Ok Curt & Brad may both be great wrestlers but the fact remains that "Awesome Twosome" may be the most eye-rolling tag team name ever. Looking forward to the rematch with the Bruise Brothers though. If there's one thing the Highwaymen know how to do it's deliver a hurt'n. Ya Unnastan? We finally have a date for Rock n Roll vs Priceless! A insane main event sees the heels stand tall and the King and the Champ having to regroup. Way to build suspense for memorial day. Speaking of, doesn't look like there'll be any place better to spend it but the Mid-South Coluseam.

AWA 1981
Nice recap of everything going down in the AWA. The world champion is coming to Sunday Showcase! Wow, Larry Zybyszko & Bobby Heenan. I can hear the boos already. Buck probably has had better ideas than challenging Nick Bockwinkel. Tito scores a win in this week's main event & a tag title match in next Saturday's main event, alongside the NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion to boot! Not bad Tito not bad at all. You've really got the AWA down pat.

I can picture Duggan & Adam's being quite the hoss fest. Blackman made one mistake against the Hart Foundation, unfortunately for him one's all they need. Brown starts the Brigade's night off with a win over the always dangerous Mr Hito. Somehow I don't think a Busick spinebuster will improve Candido's mood. Oh well. Even a concentrated effort from the top team in the Brigade can't stop Hansen (& Orton) Ricky's brother makes a comedable effort but the Light Heavyweight Championship is staying with Scorpio Sky. And a Broadway for the Golden State Tag Team Titles ensures the crowd goes home happy. I don't know where Kelowna is but what I do know is that they had a hell of a night of wrestling.

Western States Wrestling
Western States Wrestling Sports Arena Amarillo Texas May 15 1986 Bell time 3pm Steve Doll defeats Johnny Rivera (Invader 3 without his mask) with a Missle Dropkick. Sunny War Cloud gets a good reaction coming down to " As long as the grass shall grow " by Johnny Cash. His interactions with the fans are cut of by a five second drumroll which fades to a sound rarely heard in west Texas, classic funk. The song plays for ten seconds before a voice comes over the pa system. " Well I met this lady and I tell her quite a story that I love her forever more, but the trouble is I tell the same ol' story to every girl that walks through the door. This is the Slickster talking at Ya honey! Yeah hahaha" The scene coming down the aisle is almost as out of place. The man fans of CCW will recognize as Slick wearing a cheap suit and a fedora dances down ahead of his client Shaska Whatley who struts in his business coat and bowler hat. "Black Bullet " Shaska Whatley w/Slick defeats Sunny War Cloud after Slick trips Sunny coming off the ropes Whatley performs a inside cradle. Chicky Starr defeats Pvt Don Kernodle with a backslide with his feet on the ropes. "Wild Tiger " Kim Duk w/Tojo Yamamoto defeat Steve Simpson after Duk avoided Simpson's crossbody and hit a kneeling belly to belly piledriver. " The Russian Hammer " Alexis Smirnoff w/Skandar Akbar & Kendall Windham ended in a double DQ as both men shoved referee Bobby Pico as they were brawling in the corner. " The Latin Heartthrob " Al Perez defeats " Killer " Tim Brooks by taking advantage of Brooks being distracted by Kendall Windham chasing Skandar Akbar to hit a bridging German suplex. Alexis Smirnoff came out to help Akbar which lead to Brooks & Perez joining in causing a chaotic mess that security had to separate. A bit of confusion before the semi-main as Sullivan lead the Moondogs to the ring only to clip their leashes to the bottom turnbuckle. Seemingly relishing the confused looks on the Youngbloods faces Sullivan got on the house mic and said " You injuns should cut down on the firewater because it's affecting what little brains you have. The contract didn't say you'd be facing the Moondogs today, No today you're facing the Dungeon of Doom which in this case means me (Sullivan points to the entrance) & him" Fans turn to the entrance only for many of them to recoil in shock as ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER walks to the ring to the mad cackling of Sullivan. WSW Tag Team Champions The Tribal Nation (Chris & Mark Youngblood) defeat The Dungeon of Doom ("Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan & Abdullah the Butcher) by dq when Abdullah started stabbing Mark with a fork. Then all breaks lose as Sunny War Cloud & Cocoa Samoa rush the ring to help their friends which causes Sullivan to (literally) unleash the Moondogs leading to what Gordon Solie would call a pier six brawl which only breaks up as seemingly the entire locker room empties of wrestlers and security. Main Event Zaibatsu (WSW Heavyweight Champion Jumbo Tsuruta,Mr Pogo & Kendo Nagasaki)w/Tojo Yamamoto defeat the Funk family (Terry,Dory Jr & Jimmy Jack) after Tojo struck Jimmy Jack with the Japanese flag allowing Pogo & Kendo to hit a Spike Piledriver. There was a bit of brawling after the bell but security was on high alert from earlier and shut it down quickly with the Funks still in possession of the NWA World Tag Team Titles.

Da Crusher makes a successful in-ring return with his Bolo Punch. Ruthless Moretti picks up steam as he attempts to position himself in the TV Title scene. Adrenaline Rush is quietly racking up a impressive winning streak. The Crippler gets one over on the Hangman with a little help from Paul Jones. The Feud between the Highwaymen & Cabin Fever is about to boil over. How nice of Crusher to toast RnR after their win. Love how nobody cares Lawler lost as long as he ko'd Dundee. El Jefe brought the fight & Santana tries his best to help but between a fired up dragon and the Superflys being present it just wasn't enough. Green Bay got their money's worth that's for sure!

Western States Wrestling
Western States Wrestling Episode 3 Saturday May 15 1986 From the KFDA-TV Studio in Amarillo Texas Airing live at 9:35am on WTBS Channel 17 A montage of Western States action set to " Into the fire " by Dokken opens the show. Some more recent footage has been mixed in with the classic. We cut to Steve Stack, WSW Commissioner Frank Dusek, The Tribal Nation, Terry & Dory Funk Jr holding the NWA World Tag Team Titles and the man who ran off Tojo Yamamoto last week all standing in front of a joint WSW and NWA banner. Stack: Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another exciting episode of Western States Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the premier governing body of professional wrestling the world over. As you may be able to guess from the cast of thousands joining me here we have quite to discuss and here to hopefully clear everything up is the commissioner of Western States Mr Frank Dusek. Dusek: Thank you Steve, first let's get the easier news outta the way. Dusek opens a briefcase and pulls out matching title belts. Ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to be able to award these titles to the inaugural WSW Tag Team Champions, Chris & Mark Youngblood The Tribal Nation! The Youngbloods each shake Dusek's hand as he awards them each a title. Stack: Indeed congratulations gentlemen anything to say to the people at home? Chris: Well first of all I have to say (looks up and points a finger to the sky) Jay this one's for you brother! *Big pop* but also this for all our brothers and sisters in the indigenous community. To the little girl or boy watching us on with your family on your reservation, I know it can seem so hard to hold on to hope sometimes but I promise you if you just keep fighting then one day you too can be a champion. Thank you all. The Tribal Nation start to leave but Dory grabs the mic and says. Dory: Boys i think I speak for everyone here and watching at home when I say I'm proud of you and more importantly Jay would be proud of you. Give'em a hand folk! * The clearly emotional Youngbloods leave to a huge round of applause from the live crowd as well as everyone at the interview area* Dusek: Well that brings us to the more complicated situation regarding the NWA World Tag Team Titles. A confused looking Terry approaches the mic. Terry: With all due respect Frank what's so complicated? Jr and I whooped those Japs fair & square. Dusek: Indeed you did Terry but the problem is that as far as the NWA board of directors & President Bill Watts are concerned Zaibatsu were never the champions to begin with *minor boos* Now folks i'm just tellitelling you what they told me. As far as they are concerned Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams are the recognized champions. Terry starts to object but the man from the previous week interjects. JJF: East Terry there's got to be a settle this fairly. Stack: I'm sorry sir and you are? Terry: Where are my manners? Folks you know when you go to your family reunion and it's great because you get to see cousins & nieces & nephews you hadn't seen in months maybe years? But at the same time there's these folks in the back you wouldn't recognize from Adam or Eve and you ask your mama and she goes " Oh honey you remember them that's your fourth cousin three times removed from butcreek Kentucky " *Bits of laughter from the audience* well imagine you go over and talk to one of them a you realize you're in the same line of work *some rumblings from fans who see where this is going* Now I could tell you how Jr & i are related to this fella but we've only got an hour so for the sake of simplicity allow me to introduce you to "cousin" Jimmy Jack Funk! *Big pop* Dusek: While it's nice to meet another member of the Funk family there's still the matter of those Titles. Dory: Now Frank listen we don't want to cause any friction with the rest of the NWA. So how about this, DiBiase & Williams can come here and we'll settle this like gentlemen. Dusek: You want to invite them here? *exciting murmur from the live audience* Dory: These gentlemen feel they've been wronged it's only fair that we do whatever we can to make it right. Dory turns to look directly into the camera. Gentlemen you have my word you come to Amarillo my family and I will hear you out. The men of the Funk family are Christian wrestlers and means treating our coworkers fairly. Now I suggest we've taken up enough time let's discuss this further in the back. Dusek agrees and he and the Funk men leave the interview area. Stack: OK a lot to process there but now it's time for some action. Match #1 Cocoa Samoa defeats Jose Cuervo with a splash from the second rope. Commercial break- Steve Stack runs down the Western States live events for this coming week. Match #2 " The Russian Hammer " Alexis Smirnoff defeats Tag Chetson with the Heart Punch. After the match Smirnoff buried Chetson under the Soviet flag. " General " Skandar Akbar joined Steve Stack on commentary talking about how Smirnoff has been the victim of " corrupt officials " since signing with WSW and that as his manager Akbar will help him overcome the " conspiracy " against him in exchange for Smirnoff destroying " that snot nosed punk Kendall Windham at the Sports Arena later today". Match #3 ( As Twil Ogdenbone warms up in the ring " Angel of death " by Slayer comes over the pa system. The Moondogs lurch through the curtain on leashes followed by Kevin Sullivan who upon getting to ringside clips the leashes around the bottom turnbuckle before launching menacingly into the camera then joining a terrified Ogdenbone in the ring) Kevin Sullivan defeats Twil Ogdenbone with a double stomp to the chest. After the match Sullivan unclips the Moondogs from the corner points to Ogdenbone who barely moving and says " Sickem Boys" The Moondogs rush into the ring and pounce on Ogdenbone as Sullivan heads to the interview area. Stack: What is the meaning of this? Call off those animals Sullivan! Sullivan: Don't you worry about what my dogs are doing to that punk in the ring Steve Stack. Worry about what's gonna happen to those stinking drunk injuns at the Sports Arena today. You see Steve Stack when I deposited Leon White Abudadeen's dungeon of doom to undergo his transformation i was told that Western States Wrestling needed to be taken into the sweeping hand of the annihilation, i was told that Western States Wrestling had the potential to be the stronghold from which the great crusade could be launched and that had been appointed " taskmaster " of this all important project. And so I set out build the army that would deliver this fortress unto Abudadeen. I traveled far and wide for worthy warriors and my search took me to the stinking putrid swaps of Louisiana where I found the Moondogs devouring a live alligator by a fire, and I found another even greater horror, not a warrior but a living breathing weapon of mass destruction who eradicate all who stand in our way and it starts at the Sports Arena. Tribal Nation i hope you enjoyed your little moment earlier because it can only get worse from here. Come on boys. The Moondogs FINALLY stop pounding on Ogdenbone's bloody corpse and staln toward Sullivan who grabs their leaches an guides them to the back. Stack: My God we need some help for this young man! We'll try to get things settled and back with some more Western States action after this. Commercial break Match #4 " Wandering Assassin " Gypsy Joe defeats " Comrade " Che Castro with a knee drop from the top rope. Before we get to the main event Steve Stack runs down the card for the Sports Arena later today. Steve Doll vs Johnny Rivera " Black Bullet " Shaska Whatley w/Slick vs Sunny War Cloud Chicky Starr vs Pvt Don Kernodle " Wild Tiger " Kim Duk w/Tojo Yamamoto vs Steve Simpson " The Russian Hammer " Alexis Smirnoff w/Skandar Akbar vs Kendall Windham " The Latin Heartthrob " Al Perez vs " Killer " Tim Brooks w/Skandar Akbar WSW Tag Team Champions The Tribal Nation (Chris & Mark Youngblood) vs The Dungeon of Doom Main event The Funk family (Terry,Dory Jr & Jimmy Jack) vs Zaibatsu (WSW Heavyweight Champion Jumbo Tsuruta,Mr Pogo & Kendo Nagasaki)w/Tojo Yamamoto Bell time 3pm tickets still available! First the house shows. Seems to me when you put Ole Anderson in the opener two shows in a row you must have a stacked roster. I'm sure Snuka & Windham were good together but Snuka & Steamboat just sounds right. The Hammer scores two impressive defenses against Youngblood & Von Erich. Piper defeats Gino then goes Broadway with Flair! Hot Tod putting in work. Patera takes the easy way out against Flair then scores a win over Kevin Von Erich. Meanwhile Jones & MS face tough challengers in back-to-back defenses. To the TV taping. Gary Hart & co want answers damnit! The Freebirds pick up a win and put every champion on notice. Gonna keep an eye on them. Ole makes some new friends while Gene takes some time off. Unfortunately DVE & Windham can count not just on each other but the American Dream! But the heels respond by hanging Windham! By God the heat! Bret Hart fights off an Assassin then answers Valentine's challenge. Hope he's not biting off to much. Oh what the World Title does to friendships. Things are getting intense fast between Piper & Flair. And we go off the air with NEW World Tag Team champions! Or do we? After rereading the match i think Jones & MS have a case. I'm legitimately amazed at your ability to balance this roster.

The Golden Boys pick up a quick w but the real intrigue is after the bell as the Vin Man FINALLY remembers Kelly exists. Kelly tells him to hit the bricks but I got a feeling it's not gonna be that easy. The Soul Man & the Universal Heartthrob both pick up convincing wins and have a nice little back-and-forth.
