AEW TV - 10/4 - 10/7 - Spooky Seazon Begins
BCC isn't that weird of a grouping of guys, it's 3 dudes who had a connection to Regal and train in catch bullshit, plus their young boy. Edge would not fit into that in any way whatsoever. If the BCC is going to expand, they very much need another young talent, not another ex-WWE guy who is 50 and has zero association with the style or really Regal either. I wouldn't mind Yuta either graduating and going solo, or having his own young boy kind of deal.

AEW TV - 10/4 - 10/7 - Spooky Seazon Begins
There's always the TNA syndrome (or perhaps WCW) fears of bringing in WWE exiles, but also Edge is 50, has always been injury prone, and a lot of people weren't all that interested in Edge's return to WWE, either. I will say that for the most part I thought 2021-22 was some of the best in ring stuff Edge had done. However, I also thought his stuff with Orton, Rollins, and Balor was trash and a lot of Edge's stuff was the worst stuff in WWE for much of the mid to late 00s. The idea that AEW needed Edge, or Edge is some kind of savior for them is weird. I don't think Edge is going to make much of a difference in the sense of tickets/buys/ratings, because really outside of Punk, none of the big debuts really did any sustained metric boosts, and it seems like audience size for TV seems to do higher numbers when it features non-WWE talent in bigger roles. It will be interesting to see how Edge works, as unlike all the other big name WWE talent in AEW, he doesn't have any non-WWE history and has only worked that style for 25 years.

AEW WrestleDream - Possibly on MAX after tonight?
I'm not into face MJF, who is 100% schtick, in the same way that he was 100% schtick as a heel. It's over and crowds seem to love it, it just isn't for me. I think the biggest problem is this whole thing with Cole has felt like the title is very secondary and disconnected from the rest of the shows. Two PPVs in a row where a secondary title main events as the actual champ is in tag matches in the opener against goofs with zero chance. Barnett vs Claudio ruled. Eddie vs Shibata ruled. Eddie Kingston becoming the American Ishii rules. Bryan/ZSJ ruled. Moxley on commentary ruled. FTR/Aussie Open ruled even with the injuries and sloppiness. Christian/Darby was....something. There's no way that stairs spot could have gone well even at the safest possible way to take it, but then have it be so fucked up heading into it and that might be the most disgusting bump I've ever seen that didn't have someone paralyzed or visible bone break like a Sid. Christian is the heel MJF thought he was, just an absolute unrepentant piece of shit to everyone. Edge's debut was lmao. Imagine how much cooler and hype it would have been if the music and smoke started without a 45 second vignette that fucking Darby and Sting have done many times...to do a run in to save Darby and Sting.

AEW TV - 9/27 - 9/30 - The Ramp That Kills
Julia Hart has the heaviest moonsault for such a tiny person. Hard on the knees.

AEW TV - 9/27 - 9/30 - The Ramp That Kills
Tofu analogies are not torching someone They actually are not. That got retconned around the time Christian won the WHC and started being referred to as "Edge's best friend".

AEW TV - 9/27 - 9/30 - The Ramp That Kills
I do not want Edge in AEW, but it would be pretty funny to have Roddy screaming for ADAM ADAAAAAAAAM and then Edge comes out

AEW TV - 9/20 - 9/23 - Grand Slam With No Apostrophes
I very much hope Edge does not show up in AEW. Or Ziggler. Of the recently released, I think I'd like BOOGZ because you could pair him up with a lot of different talents and get something real fun out of it. Also hope that TK doesn't sign free agent Sami Callihan.

AEW TV - 9/20 - 9/23 - Grand Slam With No Apostrophes
White-O/Andrade ruled. It's funny how much better Andrade's back elbow is compared to the Judas Effect. Also, White using the ropes to pull himself up while holding Andrade in position for the Bladerunner was such a simple and common sense bit of selling that you never see.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Actually there isn't much talent in the nWo. Especially post split, when Savage is gone, Hall is drunk, Norton is in Japan, Buff is hurt and not working most of the year, Steiner is doing schtick all year. Depending on what you think about Bret being an actual member or not, I think there's an argument that can be made that Nash actually is the best worker by that point until Sting joins the Wolfpac. Maybe Lex. Hennig was not having good matches or promos. Everything was Rick Rude interference and truly bad promos with them.

There are still a lot of good-great matches in 1998 and into spring of 1999. Summer of 1999 is when shit starts really getting dire and that leads directly into Russo so..

Nash went blonde in early 1998 so that was pretty much the peak of the WCW talent roster.

WWE TV 09/18 - 09/24 They got some tryouts going on!
There is zero chance that Jade is at the PC to try out. She would be there like an orientation, to see the facilities, to see the differences in the ring/ropes/cameras, and so on.

Is Britt Baker going to WWE?
She sucks as a face but Hayter's injury and the Outcasts angle really got her in a terrible limbo. With that angle ending but a heel champ, she's probably still going to be in that limbo for a while unless she goes after Statlander, which would be good for both of them since they both need an actual feud.

In terms of quality and entertainment value, Hollywood Hogan's run is the worst main event run of all time. The worst promos The worst matches The worst angles I'm not sure there is even a decent Hollywood Hogan singles match in the WCW run. Any angles or promos that are any good are because of the other person involved, not him. Anything that requires "acting" is so bad. The absolute most groan and ugh worthy person on the entire WCW roster anytime he appears on screen in any capacity in 1996-1998. It's somehow even worse than the 1995-pre turn 1996 run, which is also absolutely dreadful.

They should do the TNA gimmick of putting the title on Double J

I've actually enjoyed Cage's current run a fair bit. Glad he stuck with the LOD/Powers of Pain bootleg look.

Has Cornette been right about anything in pro wrestling after 2004 or so?

AEW TV - 9/6 - 9/9 - Fearing For Our Collective Safeties
I didn't mean to open the floodgates on Mox, just that it truly blows my mind how he can be so good and then so unbelievably bad moments apart in any type of match.
-
AEW TV - 9/6 - 9/9 - Fearing For Our Collective Safeties
He doesn't need to "wrestle better", he needs to not go back and forth between great looking lariats or DDTs and the worst elbows/dives/and atrocious selling like the random forward roll he did on the floor for no reason in the AR Fox match. I don't care that he bleeds every match, but dude could stand to not be so blatant fiddling with his blade. It's not like you really can even blame production, he just sits in the corner not even trying to hide it. Thankfully he dropped the dogshit wackyline rebound lariat. Less thankfully, Yuter picked up the mantle and it is still a terrible recurring spot.
