I am not factoring TNA into my voting. Staying consistent. His Indy run would put him at about 750.

'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff
No chance.

Bill Dundee
Hah! Dundee won't be my #2. I was kidding. I made a tribute to Jerry Lawler that was 80 discs. If I took out the Bill Dundee stuff, it would still be over 50 discs. If I made a tribute to BIll Dundee, it could be a 30 disc set. Without Lawler on the set, it would be about 8 discs. I don't think that is a footage issue either. Lawler just had more great matches with more people than anyone else I can think of. He also got more out of guys lower on the work rate totem pole than anyone else I have seen. Dundee was great but he didn't have the high end stuff outside of Memphis/USWA that even Lawler was able to produce. He'll be hovering around my Top Ten though for sure.

Rick Martel
Martel's 1998 run was pretty great while it lasted. Not blow away great but he still had something in the tank befor ethe injury. Doesn't hurt his run at all. He also isn't a Top Ten guy.

Masato Tanaka
No chance at my list. I think he is charismatic and fun to watch but I hate the 20 chairs to the head style he had in ECW with Mike Awesome. Maybe his FMW work is better but I don't think it will overcome the factors I don't like.

Dustin Rhodes
I have come to the realization that I will not hold anybody's TNA work against them. Not Dustin, Flair, Foley, Joe.

Mitsuharu Misawa
I am pretty sure people are starting the peak of insanity around the debut of the Burning Hammer through the Ganso Bomb. They may have toned down after that but it isn't wrong to say they were getting into some dangerous territory at that point.

Top 50 sounds about right. 20 years of being awesome.

Buddy Rose
You can start anywhere but if he had a series of matches (Youngblood for example), start with the first match of the series.

[SPLIT TOPIC] Today's wrestling vs wrestling from the past (From Lawler GWE thread)
Interesting. Just because today's product is inferior to past wrestling doesn't mean we are dismissing it. It means we enjoy one time frame more than the other. We can still enjoy both.

Kerry & Kevin Von Erich
Solid pick on the strength of great matches with the Duo and the Birds. KEvin in wild brawls with his brother is much better than Kevin flying solo. Kerry is great as always.
-
Yoshihiro Tajiri
A list of non-ECW matches might help here Dylan.

Who is dismissing modern wrestling?

The Rock 'n' Roll Express
Curious question, when in 1998, did they get a chance to really shine in WWF?

The New Breed
A major, major part of what made them so great to me in 1986 were the cutting edge spots and sequences that I wasn't as familiar with. I know this is Bizarro World where the New Breed supposedly weren't any good but there was a reason they were so over in 1986, and it was because they were way ahead of the standards of his day. In fact, they were from the future!!!!! God forbid wrestlers leave their feet or use advanced throws. Must automatically mean the New Breed didn't know psychology. And it instantly means they can't sell, which is the the most overused, misused, unfairly applied, lazy trope around. But yes, like it or not, athleticism in wrestling is one of the things that does move forward, and yes, the advancing athletic standards are a part of what leaves some matches behind in terms of not holding up. If you want to equate advanced athleticism with MOVEZ, that's YOUR laziness, not mine. That doesn't apply to The New Breed though... they were from the future!!!!

Kevin Von Erich
No shot in hell. Didn't know how to sell. Ruined matches with his uncooperative behavior. Had some great matches because the Freebirds and Ric Flair because they were special human beings. Kerry is the only Von Erich who deserves real consideration.

Rick Martel
He didn't make my list in the Smarkschoice poll. He is a lock for this round. I just need to watch some Montreal footage. I couldn't give a shit about his Model run.

Black Terry
Black Terry/Negro Navarro vs. Trauma I & Trauma II (LUCHA POP 8/27/11) Who is the father of the Traumas in this match? Is it Terry or Navarro?

[SPLIT TOPIC] Today's wrestling vs wrestling from the past (From Lawler GWE thread)
I saw enough Curt Hennig in the 80s. Dolph Ziggler doesn't exactly remind me of somebody who would light the world on fire. He may have had better matches though because wrestling was smarter back then and he would have had better opponents to teach him how to wrestle properly.

Masa Saito
I am considering him but I don't think he'll make the Top 100. Easily in my Top 200. I gotta look at his NJ matches again.
-
Yoshihiro Tajiri
Might make it on the strength of his 1999 run. I have to think about it. Being the king of ECW in 1999 is not as great as it sounds when matched up against best guy of the decade types he'll be battling.
-
Eddie Guerrero
I had Eddie in my Top 10 in the Smarkschoice poll. He'll be in my top half but I have seen too many other guys surpass him in the last decade.
-
Dustin Rhodes
Easily in my Top 100 but I gotta figure out where. His little indy run helped him in my view. Loved the match with Sami Callahan. Mentioned on the NOC recap that he may be one of the Top 5 tag wrestlers of all time.
