I made this point at DVDVR but it bears repeating... It sucks that TNA wrestlers will be looking for a job but from what I understand, there are only a small handful of guys making decent money (Angle, Bubba, etc) and those guys are already set. The guys constricted by TNA contracts but aren't able to make ends meet who have talent should be able to make as much on the Indys or somewhere. Those who can't find a gig are probably saving themselves from even more pain and suffering when they get old and probably shouldn't be in a ring anyway. People make the argument that with TNA, at least there is another option for wrestlers. My argument has always been that bad wrestling shows hurt the long term viability of wrestling as a whole and that wrestling as an artform won't exist much longer anyway if bad companies are allowed to exist even though they are proven failures. It only serves to shrink the wrestling fanbase, not expand it.

Michael Hayes himself will tell you that he is not that good of a worker, but he knows how to run his mouth. Buddy Roberts was the worker of the group. Gordy was a good worker in his own right, however, he was more of the enforcer, in texas. He had much better matches in other places, notably in Japan. I don't trust wrestlers to tell me what I enjoy in a wrestling match. Also, I have seen enough Freebirds to know what kind of workers Gordy, Hayes and Roberts were.

The Shield have a real case due to match quality. Even the Birds matches were contingent upon their opponents where the Shield were knocking shit out of the park week after week. As individuals, matchups with Hayes and Gordy were out of this world great where I don't know where the great singles matches (while they were a trio) are at. Someone can fill that in for me.

The AA attacks the back in the way a suplex would but the F5 is a whirlwind DDT. Splattered face seems a lot more deadlier than gentle body slam.

Hell, Goldberg's Jackhammer is just a suplex with him pinning the opponent in one combined motion. The AA is a standup fireman's carry. DDT's' are transition moves now and used to be the kiss of death. However, I will always accept that a DDT can finish a match.

I don't think chair shots,kendo sticks and sledge hammers in wrestling age well. I can't watch matches with those things and enjoy them like it was 1998.

Let's ask ourselves, if 1960s fans saw moves off the top of the cage, and moonsaults, and 450s and shooting star presses, they would lose their minds. Todays fan expects to see these things regularly, so it is awesome, but not unexpected. In 1960s it was common to win off of a back breaker, or a suplex or a simple punch. Today's fan would not allow for wrestling so simplistic, they require to dazzled by acrobatics, and fast-paced offense, and the lack of psychology is simply okay with today's passive fan, something that would not have been allowed by 1960s fan. A punch will always get over as a finish if sold right by the opponent and announcers.

Let me amend that... specifically chair shots, kendo sticks and sledgehammers.

I am not Dylan but weapon shots don't age well with me. I love death matches but not hardcore matches, nuts.
