Current WWE
No surprise. Goldust is wrestling, Edge isn't. Why would anyone be excited to hear an Edge promo?

Best Workers Who Weren't Main Eventers
I agree with everything said here. To get a clearer picture, it should either take smaller territories into consideration as main even terms or exclude the smaller promotions altogether.

Best Workers Who Weren't Main Eventers
My instant thought was Greg Valentine but I don't know his card placement for the bulk of his Mid Atlantic career. I'd actually argue Valentine is far more of a main eventer (at least in my mind) than Finlay or Morton Well, what is his Mid Atlantic run as a main eventer? I don't know.

I would be interested to see you run down your list. For example, why doesn't Smothers or Morton get credit for being on top of Smoky Mountain or Morton being in the top program in 1986 NWA? The others I agree with wholeheartedly except Finlay who was in the main event for a long time in Europe.

Should have stayed in the NWA
I thought the Dragon outfit and the fire breathing was a lot cooler than Steamboat the karate kid. That being said, the jump back to WWF in 91 was totally ill-advised. Depends how old you were when you were watching it and if you watched it when it originally came out or later on tape.

Cena v. Tanahashi
He has been in way too many good matches to not be considered a great wrestler. After the Mid South, All Japan and Texas sets were completed, I said the same thing about Kerry Von Erich. I actually said Kerry was great as early as the Smarkschoice poll. The 80s sets just solidified it.

Should have stayed in the NWA
Steamboat was already pushing near 40 at the time and completely misread what he thought would be cool. Steamboat the ninja karate master was cool. Steamboat as Gene Simmons fire breather is cool. Steamboat as a cartoon character with a bad outfit was not cool.

Is it Fine for Someone to Develop an Opinion by Just Reading Results?
Spurious relationship. Joe is White. Joe is Racist. Whites are racists.

Is it Fine for Someone to Develop an Opinion by Just Reading Results?
I think either take is fine. I think having both is what I'm questioning. I think the quotes are talking about different things. 1, 2 and 5 are talking about criticizing something you have never watched. 3 and 4 are about watching things you don't enjoy.

Keep watching the old WCW. Love that thread.
-
What are you watching?
Johnny's wrong. He buried him because he thinks he is a shitty wrestler who didn't merit the push he was getting for his talent level. He was right.

Is it Fine for Someone to Develop an Opinion by Just Reading Results?
This isn't the case at all and I don't think anyone has made that point. I have already mentioned that Dylan is highly critical of the current product but watches the shows. If you have already given up on the product, your opinion isn't going to mean as much to me as Dylan on the current product. We already know Johnny loves the current product so you have the right to take his opinion with a grain of salt. We know Jerome keeps reminding us he doesn't watch it so why would I care what he thinks about something he has no interest in watching? Nobody is saying "America... love it or leave it."

Wrestling With the Past #2
What blows my mind is that I was 11-12 years old and thinking that... but Tully Blanchard... FUCK THAT GUY!

Wrestling With the Past #2
In the second edition of Wrestling with the Past, Will and Charles look at the history of the NWA/WCW World Television Title. We begin with Dusty Rhodes’ reign in 1985 and work our way through until the bitter end. We discuss the greatness of Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson, the ascension of Steve Austin, the amazing matches of William Regal and the tragedy of Rick Martel’s comeback. Oh! And Charles makes the case on why you should give Alex Wright a second chance. All this and much more. Enjoy! http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-with-...levision-title/
