We all do that.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I think we are John. However, some of the posts in this thread seem in denial.

Dave Meltzer stuff
He is aware of the current criticism of the editing in the Observer.

Where the Big Boys Play #31
I disagree. When Steamboat was last on TV, he was jobbing at WM IV. There is no reason to assume he was going to be automatically pushed to the top right away.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I can answer that. He has been made aware.

I wold also like to add that even if he had a proof writer, that is not a mistake that I think a proof writer would pick up on. I think a 2nd set of eyes would simply assume that it was confirmed that Goldberg had a pill problem and continue to read the rest of the Observer.

What is the importance of mic work when assessing someone?
A couple of points, I may lock this thread because Loss's post is basically THE answer to the question. Next point, Bobby Eaton was also able to stay over after Cornette left. This only reinforces Loss's point.

1999 Recommendations
Also, keep in mind... If a match is a title change but isn't particularly good, don't cut it outright but let us know it can be finish only.

Where The Big Boys Play #30
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the Bock-Gagne match either but the Sheik stuff, the Rose-Somers feud, and the Hennig run are all awesome in my book. Later on, Manny and Wahoo beat the shit out of each other.

Where The Big Boys Play #30
Shit about 20 minutes into the most recent one and I want to scream at my computer... same old tired AWA sucks motif and Lyle Alzado wasn't a big star? Clearly, this is an age thing.

Dylan Reviews Full Shows In This Thread
Also, Dylan, the Starman gimmick is a nod to the old Nintendo Wrestling game.

Bruiser Brody
Sasso may be 791. I guess the "Bret Hart is better than Flair" crew can use Sasso as an example of Bret carrying a useless comedian into greatness.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Because there were enough wrestlers in the WWF that did not suck in the time Severn was there. It was Severn's fault he sucked, not the WWF's.

Bruiser Brody
More like 7 or 9.

I love Bill Eadie. Replace Superstar with Repo Man, Khrusher Darsow, and That Golfer.

Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair
I actually agree with everything you said there, Jerry. May be a first!!!!!

Ted DiBiase: brawler or technician
Jerry, you completely ignore that the entire business model of wrestling in the 80s was to get people to the house shows. The skits, characters, bad acting, lame storylines... all there, even in Vinnie Mac Land, to get people to watch the house shows. If the wrestling part was so unimportant to Vince, he wouldn't have guys working 300+ days a year, many times without months off (if you believe the wrestlers). Wrestling matches were very much a part of his product and the whole purpose of all of the fluff was to get people to go watch the MATCHES at the house shows. If the skits and interviews and vignettes were the most important part of Vince's world, they would have had skit heavy and promo heavy house shows. They didn't. The TV existed as one long infomercial for the house shows.

I have a number. 785. I have the Mulkeys and Lee Peek ahead of him.

Bret Hart
I am giving him the Benoit match because of the circumstances involved and because of the praise it has received over the years. I think WCW hurts him in the discussion because he couldn't get great matches out of guys who were currently having great matches.

Bret Hart
Just curious, but besides the Benoit match, what WCW matches did Bret Hart take part in that ADD to his legend? WCW was full of stupidity in 1998 but why couldn't Bret get great matches out of guys who were already having great matches? I understnad losing your desire to wrestle after the Owen tragedy but I think Bret had a full year+ to prove that he could still work great matches but he never did. I also don't buy into the notion that he wasn't given the chance to work a great match.
