How do you self-identify as a wrestling fan?
You have 500 unwatched wrestlig DVDs. You just spent a bunch of time on a pragraph trying to convince people you are just a fan. You have your own wrestling message board.

Rank the territories in the 80s
This would be a better topic when we actually have completed the 80s project and have gone through all of the territories. Hell, I thought AWA would be murder but I am having a blast watching this stuff.

How do you self-identify as a wrestling fan?
I'm also totally in the closet now. I wasn't in college or high school. I went to a bunch of indy shows in college for god's sake. But now, totally closeted. It's a "Don't talk about the war." sort of thing whenever I'm with a college friend I went to shows with. All cost-benefit. My closet is the internet.

Comments that don't warrant a thread 2010-2011
Dibiase had the #1 Mid South match voted on at DVDVR. He was also in the #3, #7, #8, #10, #15, #18 & #19 matches. The idea he never had a great ceareer defining match is bullshit. The misconception is that he was some great technical wrestler like Flair or Steamboat. He was a great brawler who was a better brawler than Brody and others known as great brawlers. In his WWF run, he was a great character with memorable angles and vignettes.

How do you self-identify as a wrestling fan?
No one here is "just a wrestling fan". We are wrestling obsessed super nerds who can write pages upon pages about a single match. We argue for hours, sometimes weeks over what is the best match, wrestler, year, angle, promotion, era, etc. I am a fan of sports teams and movies and musicians. With wrestling, I am fucking sick with obsession.

DVDVR 90s voting vs. DVDVR 80s voting
I think you missed 2 things... 1. It really is just an excuse for a bunch of wrestling nerds to watch wrestling. Giving it a purpose is the rationale. 2. We do leave stones unturned and there are matches left on the table that people bitch and moan about. Thankfully, we account for this with the idea of an errata set that will include leftovers.

Wrestlemania 20 7
Dylan and I were talking about match placement and I was toying around with the idea of if you had the same matches play out but in a different order, the feeling would be much different. Lets see... Rey vs. Rhodes - Dylan said there were large chunks of the crowd that were dead for this match more than any other in the stadium. If it was the opener, I think the heat would have been better not following a world title win and matches could easily follow it. Punk vs. Orton - Super hot match that could build on the Rey-Rhodes opener and not having to follow a world title match. Corre Tag Lawler vs. Cole - Put this here and you have the SD! announcers here to work this match and the SD! World title match. Then the Stunners happen and JR and King work both title matches and the other big matches as well. Match would have sucked but you follow it with... Del Rio vs. Edge - This helps the crowd recover from the suck of Lawler-Cole and would still be hot where the suck of Cena-Miz would not hurt it with a deflated crowd. Cena vs. Miz - You do the bullshit finish, the crowd isn't looking at their watches realizing the PPV will end in 3 minutes and yo umay even get better heat even with them waiting for Rocky. Who knows? Still, you are following Edge-Del Rio, not the Taker-HHH deathblow. Snooki Six Man - The right spot for the match. HHH vs. Taker - Mania ends on a high note, everyone goes home happy and talks about how this was such a great Mania.

Have any of these guys ever had good matches?
Ernest Miller was also involved in the super-fun Miller & Glacier vs. Wrath & Mortis tag from 1997.

Wrestlemania 20 7
They should have ended with Taker-HHH. Hindsight 20/20 and all.

Wrestlemania 20 7
Even if they had the Rock come out to do commentary with JR & King, it would have made a huge difference.

Wrestlemania 20 7
The Miz video was awesome but this match needed Rock 5 minutes ago.

Snooki Six Man - About what you would expect. The Trish-McCool spill was nasty.

Wrestlemania 20 7
Undertaker vs. HHH - Naylor said this would be the show stealer so we'll see. This match is right out of 2001. All of the bells and whistles of the Attitude era with the Spanich Announce Table and the big moves outside. On that back drop, it looks like HHH landed on his wrist and I think he is going Kawada style and working with a broken wrist. The match was intense but it was taking turns kicking out of the finishers. Similar to the Michaels' matches except those actually told the story of working the body part and then pulling out the finishers late in the match. Here, they do the finishers mid match. Probably a good thing because it creates drama early where they really would have none otherwise. Playing up on the rrole reversal form last year and even HBK-Flair was cool and I thought the Triple H Tombsone was the finish so HHH could end the streak and piss everyone off. However, that ending was the right one and not what I expected at all. Great tension and drama until the final tap.
